My 2024 Outback was purchased on August 14, 2023, at West Houston Subaru. On August 18, 2026, I was on my way for an oil change at West Houston Subaru. Suddenly, my vehicle stalled at the traffic light (Westheimer + Richmond). I found out the battery failed after just 36 months. Many people came to assist and jump-start my car, but my Outback wouldn't start. Because the "My Subaru" subscription wanted to charge me around $130.00 to tow my car to West Houston Subaru, which is 7 miles away. I used my AAA roadside assistance service instead, which is free. West Houston Service department wants to charge me $560.95 for replacing the battery and cleaning the terminals. The service advisor said that because the battery has 84 months warranty. When I asked how many months the warranty of the battery on my Outback was when I bought that brand new car? He said the warranty had expired in July 2026 after 36 months. I reminded him that the car was purchased on August 14th, 2023, which was just 36 months and 4 days when the battery failed. After I complained, he gave a discount, which came down to $440.95 for replacing a regular battery. The greediness of this dealership service is excessive. This is my last time buying any Subaru or obtaining a service at this dealership. My advice is: do not buy any Subaru. Do not subscribe to the "My Subaru" service, which is worthless, and do not bring your car to this service department. Bring your car to any experienced auto service instead. read more

I had the worst dealership experience of my life at West Houston Subaru. My ordeal actually started last year when I went in for a battery replacement. I told them my power windows were randomly unresponsive. They replaced the battery but ignored the windows, telling me to "revisit if it gets worse." The windows did get worse, becoming a major issue on a recent trip to Austin. My car only has 34k miles on it. I went in last Friday, was told to make an appointment, and returned on Monday. Because my time warranty had slightly expired (despite being under the 36k mileage limit), they said they needed approval from Subaru Japan. They gave me a ride home Monday, but on Tuesday, when I tried to arrange a ride back, they gave me the runaround, claiming their drivers were off (even though I literally saw the driver from the day before). Needing our car back, I paid for an Uber. When I arrived, the service advisor handed me my car key--but it was broken and missing a piece. They told me I would have to drive all the way back just to pick up the missing piece whenever they found it. When I asked them to mail it to me to save me the trip, they refused with a terrible attitude. Then, the manager came out and escalated the situation to a shocking level. He claimed they couldn't service the car at all because their system showed a different name, falsely accusing me of not being the original owner. I explained it was a glitch in their system, but he completely refused to ask for my registration or proof of ownership. When I demanded they at least fix the key they broke, the manager told me I was "blacklisted," no longer welcome, and kicked me out. I had to call the police, who informed me this was a civil dispute and advised me to sue them. Avoid this dealership at all costs. They ignore your initial complaints, damage your property, refuse to take accountability, and treat loyal customers with outright hostility. read more

The first week of January, I purchased a 2024 Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness from West Houston Subaru. With the warmer weather we've experienced, I needed the AC and noticed it wasn't blowing cold air- was blowing around 80 deg. Made an appt to take car in for service for 2pm on February 6th, at the same dealership- West Houston Subaru. I planned to wait while they repaired my vehicle. Even took 1/2 day PTO to do this. At 4:35pm, the service desk called me from their waiting area and said there was a loaner car available for me, as they needed more time to determine the AC issue. I left and went home. Through the Subaru app "Starlink", I was able to locate my vehicle. It had stopped as of 4:30pm that day, in the Jimmy Changas parking lot off I-10, a few miles west of the dealership. The vehicle didn't move until 1:15am Friday Feb 7, and was then located at a residence in Cinco Ranch around 1:45am. I had a work meeting Friday am and wasn't available to call the service rep Amanda until after 9:30am. I was calling to inquire why my vehicle showed such odd locations. Finally, the service manager Javier came to the phone to tell me of my vehicle being in an accident (note this is in excess of 12 hours since accident) while being driven by their mechanic on Thursday afternoon. I've been told it was the other drivers' fault, and he waited for HPD to file the police report. I questioned why my vehicle was driven to a residence, was only told "because the dealership was closed." This is the WORSTT NEW CAR EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD I now have a car with 2000 miles, that has a permanent accident reported and attached to the VIN, and has certainly diminished the value of my vehicle. I have asked for the dealers' assistance to get me into a vehicle like the one I purchased, similar miles, etc and every 'option' they've given me will cost ME more MONEY and they're completely protected. This is an update from my previous review from 2 years earlier. The service dept underwent a complete staffing change: new service mgmt and new service reps. The biggest change for the worse has been the degrade in customer interaction. There is an attitude of arrogance with this new service staff that did not exist with the previous crew. In particular is one service rep who has a serious attitude. She loves to get into arguments with customers. Warm and friendly of the previous service team have been replaced by arrogance and argumentative spirit by the new team. Overall: 1 star. read more

When the sales person could not get me the information I requested he had the gall to ask for me to buy the vehicle even though I told them I did not want anything added to the vehicle beyond factory items. They tried to charge me almost 2,500 above what they quoted me online me and over the phone once I got here. I will not come back to this place again. I will take my business to Superior Subaru as it was the next closest place to them and they do not add items to their cars. They gave me a straight offer and off I was in a new Crosstrek. Heck, West Houston had extra items they charged for on their used vehicles also when I went to look at them the same day. How are you going to charge for stuff you put on a used car? P.S. - All of the sudden after I posted on Google reviews now they want to reach out and try and fix something that should have been the first time when I was at the dealership. Sep 30th - took my vehicle in for a scheduled service and oil change + asked them to check on the battery since I have replaced 4 batteries over the past 18months. They said there was an issue with the battery drain but they were unable to update the software and would need to order parts and have me bring the car back in. Over the next 3.5 weeks I never got a single follow-up email or call, each time I called they acted like they had no idea what I was calling for. Eventually after the 3rd call they said the part was in and I should bring the car in. Nov 1st - I brought the car in and was told that it would be ready that night/tomorrow. I waited but again no calls. Nov 3rd - called and was told my car was not ready. Nov 6th - I again called again and asked for an update on the car. I was told they didn't know where my car was and would have to call me back. I got a call back from them ~6hrs later saying that my car was ready and that they had updated the software. I questioned why I had to bring my car back in if they only needed to update the software and why they hadn't done this the last time I had brought it in, they didn't have an answer for this. Nov 7th - went to pick-up the car, the paperwork states that there was no issue with the battery/charging system and no updates were done. Additionally, there is a large tear in the front driver seat. What an unbelievably bad experience which is amplified by having purchased 2 Subarus from this dealership and have done all my services at this dealership as well. read more

First let me tell you how friendly and easy it was to schedule online, there was no pushy, slimy sales person, and I picked my time. Second when I arrived, Chris greeted me very professionally, and gave me expectations for the recall. During the recall the master mechanic found the back wheel baring were extremely loose and worn, so Chris came out to the waiting area, and brought me into the garage. We carefully walked over to where my car was and Chris discussed my options. I obviously wanted to go with the safest so I had all of them replaced which to me was a huge disappointment to other businesses that "checked" my vehicle from bumper to bumper 3 times prior and never mentioned this. When I first decided to buy a Subaru at this location, it was a sport for the sales/finance guys to part me with as much money as possible. I should've walked away, but they wear you down with the amount of time they get you to invest in the process. They were excited to tell me the specific car I wanted was found in Texas and they'd get it for me as soon as possible. After a couple days I thought to search its VIN and was angered to find it was simply in The Woodlands. I demanded they have the car ready that day and they did. I thought the Service Dept would be a better experience, but each time it takes several hours and a lot of money to get anything done. I just bought a beautiful Volkswagen this week with all the bells and whistles and guess what?? I can't even drive it. The salesman told me the car was fully serviced and that they buy the best cars at the auctions. The AC doesn't work, the engine light came on and the car's rpm is going insane. The car is also making this loud screeching sound. I can't move the car now and he asked me to wait till Monday to go get it check out. When I bought the car CASH!!! I WAS ASKED TO SIGN AN, AS IS. I figured, the few scratches and loose sunroof cover for the sunroof and small tiny dents. I never imagined the engine or anything else would be this bad. Anything they'll have to do They're going to make me pay for. DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM THIS PLACE!! THEY ARE FRAUDS!!! The car may look beautiful on the outside but the engine is crap. The thing too is, they purposely turned off those engine lights, so that's definitely fraud and they knew darn well this was going to happen. I can't drive this car or go anywhere and I know they aren't going to help. Now I have to hear from all the men at work that they told me so. They told me not to trust that dealership. I didn't want to believe them. I should have listened. I'm going to get the grizzy's hood news involved if this doesn't get solved correctly. The dealership used to be an awesome dealership. However, since they fired the service department advisors and replaced them with new people, the service has not been well. Nowadays, service dept. is mostly trained to "upsell" goods and services. My friend had her oil drain plug stripped when the tech at this dealership stripped the plug. They lied and told her that the previous tech at another oil change shop stripped the plug. She will never return for service at this dealership. I visited the dealership for a service to replace the odometer. They originally offered $150 for the service. After they talked with the subaru of america tech line, they increased the price to $300. I avoided the service dept. at this dealership, and I have done the service at another Houston subaru dealership. The parts dept. is helpful, and I give three stars to the dealership for the parts dept. read more

I had been very excited about the Subaru Forester I found and was pleased with the deal we negotiated on the purchase. Then it was time for the trade. I was offered $500 for a vehicle with a valuation of $5,000 to $6,400. When I questioned this, I was spoken to in an amazingly condescending way with such thinly fueled sexism that it soured me on the entire deal. This felt like an unnecessary low ball tactic, especially given the condition of my vehicle. Unlike many other dealers, they are not overcharging for the cars in this tight market. I am taking the time to write about my recent experience with the West Houston Subaru Service department. I took my car in yesterday because my Crosstrek air conditioner motor would not blow on high. I need to note at this point that I have an extended warranty on my vehicle and had the air conditioner compressor replaced at the beginning of the summer. In addition to the air conditioner motor, I asked for a battery check and oil change (because why make another trip in a few weeks). When I arrived, I was informed that diagnosing my air conditioner would cost several hundred dollars. I referred my advisor to my warranty and he suggested that I would need a different diagnostic for slightly less. I calmly but firmly told him that the air conditioner motor is fully covered under the warranty and I would refuse to pay for unnecessary diagnostics. I reiterated that I did want them to check out the battery because it has been a long hot summer. I also stated that I had to have the car back by 4:00 PM today. Last night I received a call and was told they have all the necessary parts and my car would be ready this morning. I texted a little after 11:30 this morning and then called a little before noon as I had no response. The first call simply hung up on me after about 10 minutes. I called back and held another 10 minutes and was told I could pick up my car in 30 to 45 minutes. On arrival, I was ushered over to the cashier (who at first gave me the wrong bill in excess of $2,300) and finally paid and was handed my keys. When I got in my car to leave I glanced at the paperwork and my battery level was in the red zone. This was never mentioned to me at any time during or brief conversations with the staff. I thought about going back in and seeing if they could swap it out for a new battery but decided that not only did I not want to be without transportation for another day, but if they wanted my business they would have mentioned it and tried to ensure my vehicle was operating safely and properly. Instead, I drove to NTB and 30 minutes later drove away with a new battery. I do think I will find another place to do business with in the future. I am sure they will place a greater value on my time and business than West Houston Subaru seems to. I wish them well. read more

I'd leave zero stars if I could about their service department! My friend and I along with my two dogs were driving from Florida to Arizona when I began having electrical issues that affected my odometer, gas gauge, etc. these issues affected the cars ability to accurately detect how much gas I had left in my tank. I was extremely concerned, I considered this an emergency and pulled in to this dealerships service department. The electrical readouts had me concerned that the electronic ignition might also be affected! The young man I spoke with could have cared less! He refused to call over a mechanic, refused to run a diagnostic and his best advice was put gas in it and see how much it takes. The real reason he didn't want to do anything? He admitted that because it was 4pm and they close at 5, no point in even trying to find out what was wrong. I had to leave it overnight! What is especially disturbing- Subaru prides itself in its support of pets, of pet adoption, etc. he saw my two dogs and rather than trying to live up to Subarus support of pets, he instead blew me off simply because he wanted to go home. What a disgrace to Subaru! This young man needs some serious customer service training and needs to be reminded that Subaru prides itself on its commitment to owner satisfaction and to supporting pets. I guarantee my Subaru dealership in my hometown would have done whatever they could to help me. But not this guy. He didn't want to be bothered. Shame on you west Houston Subaru for employing such an uncaring and selfish young man! read more

I have to give the service director, Collin, a lot of credit for fixing this issue as soon as I discussed it with him. I should have updated this review a while ago but honestly forgot about it. Like I said, the service has always been great and the people are friendly and easy to work with. The original issue was just that I couldn't speak to someone in servicing or really get a hold of anyone without driving in because of what appears to have been a breakdown with the system of putting customers on hold. Had been texting back and forth about trading my car in for two days. I was very up front about the target price for my trade and new lease. The salesman asked me to provide him with all of my info and I did, including all of the relevant details about my trade in. He got me "very close" to my target monthly price and told me he was "sure he could make it work" if I came in with my car. I finally agreed. I was there for over an hour before he came out with much higher numbers than previously quoted and then he told me he wasn't even sure if they could do a trade deal with the particular bank that holds my current lease. Totally hid the ball and totally wasted my time. Would not go back. Highly recommend shopping with Gilman instead. I recently bought my second Subaru BRZ from Troy Lynn at West Houston Subaru. I live in kingwood, but decided to drive further out to the Katy dealership to work with Troy. He made me feel comfortable and was compassionate and patient with me through the whole process. My street flooded in July and my car was totaled. It took me weeks to decide what I wanted to do.
