The project involved a lot of layout decisions, uneven floor conditions, outlet coordination, panel proportions, cap details, and making sure everything would work both visually and practically in a commercial space. Paul was thoughtful throughout the process and clearly knows finish carpentry. What I appreciated most was that he did not just rush through it. He took the time to think through the details, explain options, and flag things that could affect the final result before cutting into the material. He was especially careful with the panel layout, wood movement, grain direction, and how the base and trim should be handled so the finished product would both look right and hold up well over time. The wainscoting came out really elegant and clean, and the craftsmanship is obvious in person. It gave the space warmth and character immediately. The bar work also came out great and tied in nicely with the rest of the room. Paul cares about the end result and it shows. From the beginning Manuel was challenging to get ahold of (no responses on emails mostly). Work started a week later than we had agreed on and Initially the project was supposed to take 3 days - demo, install, finishing- and it was suggested that it could be done in one week. The project started September 25 2024 and was finally finished November 15, almost 2 months. During demo we had to ask them to stop because they did not tape off the space and spread huge amounts of dust throughout our house that we ended up needing to do lead and aesbestos testing to move forward (not to mention, I had to take a day off of work to clean up the mess created). We had to call and text and basically beg them to send people out to finish the work and we could tell we were a very low priority- mostly working Saturdays, canceling multiple times after committing to dates, unwilling to commit to days until a day or two in advance, etc. He pretended he would work around our schedule but if that was the case, this work would have NEVER been completed. I canceled plans 3 times during this process to make myself available to get this work done. After demo, I think they realized this job was more complicated than originally anticipated but instead of telling us that, Manuel just kept us guessing, unsure if the timeline had changed- he did not want to communicate specifics with us which we would have really appreciated and welcomed. We learned quickly that they were not particularly respectful of our space so we began taping up our own plastic space dividers to keep dust and fumes out of the rest of our living space. The workers were very nice and I believe the issue is with management rather than the workers themselves. In the end, the work is nice enough which is why I give 2 stars instead of 1. The finished work was absolutely not worth the headache and displacement we experienced to get it done. It was a truly painful experience. I have other cabinetry projects I would like to do but will absolutely not be hiring MJ Custom cabinetry again to do the work.

Throughout the entire process, Mike was very professional and the level of expertise he exhibited was obvious. Before Mike, I had met with 3 other contractors to compare services and quotes but what sealed the deal for me was the 3D render service Mike offered. It was affordable and it would be free if you end up going with MDM for your remodel. Mike was able to get the renderings to me very quickly and made adjustments whenever we wanted to change something. Seeing the details of the renderings really brought what we were envisioning to life and helped with the design process. Fast forward to beginning of demo/construction, Mike's employees were impressively fast and efficient at their jobs, but what really impressed me was how clean they kept our property after each day of work. And that stated true throughout the entire process of our 7 month renovation. During construction, if there were any last minute changes, Mike would always try to cater to our needs whenever possible. Even if subcontractors made mistakes with anything, Mike would make sure it is fixed and perfect right away. Keep in mind, you can't rely on Mike for everything (as much as you might want to). You really do have to do your research (in terms of design, finishing materials, sourcing those materials, and getting them delivered on time) and know exactly what you want and how you want it, that way, Mike can plan and put into action what needs to be done. After this entire process, we are extremely happy we got this project completed with MDM. What really sets them apart is the quality of work, dependability, and the great people that work for MDM. Shoutout to Mario! They really respected our home and were very considerate of us during construction. Even after everything was finished, they guaranteed that they would come back and fix anything that needed fixing. Cannot recommend them enough if you want to improve or build your new home!

Writing this now because I just saw an outlet underneath the sink that's not at all mounted to the wall and was reminded of how ridiculous this whole ordeal was. They'd come maybe 2 times a week, maybe less, sit in the driveway and wait for each other for a while, and they'd always forget what they were supposed to do. Then they'd say "ah ya we remember now, gotta go to Home Depot" and take another 1-2 hours. The pace of work was incredibly slow. When they were redoing our kitchen, we came home and saw that the main handyman had bought cabinets for the sink that opened straight into the fridge and stove, so you could barely open them. It was on a corner, so clearly a corner / lazy Susan cabinet was needed. Delayed the job by however many days. They cracked the sink they put in, and there's carvings in the countertops from where they messed up with sloppy cutting. When they installed the AC window units, they stained the window panes, sink, and the outside of the house with the insulation foam and didn't attempt to clean it until I asked. They didn't get much up; still stained. They didn't put calking around the countertop they put in behind the sink. There were a bunch of other times where similar things happened that I had to ask them to redo it or do a part of the job they'd missed.

Alex marvelous I've tried a few different wood screws for home projects, and quality really matters. Cheap ones tend to strip or bend, which can be frustrating when you're halfway through a project. I caught both Nikita and Donat RED-HANDED trespassing on my property USING MY GARAGE CODE TO ENTER MY HOME... TWO MONTHS AFTER I FIRED THEM. They claim they "left some tools behind" so that's why they were accessing my property WITHOUT MY PERMISSION. Really? Seriously? As if they have the right to use my garage code to enter my home at any time? I tried to keep my calm tho I was freaking out, asked them to please leave. I have an appointment I have to get to on time and to call/text me whatever it is they needed. They had the audacity to refuse to leave AFTER I just caught them red-handed trespassing, stood in front of my car preventing me to leave. WTF. I lost it. On my own property. I called Security and found out they had another job in our gated community. So basically, these Russian contractors deemed it totally acceptable to come by my house in the middle of the day, believing nobody was home and just go through my home? To steal or God knows what they were up to. I feel violated and still shocked they think it's okay to do such a thing. They've been warned by Security... should they make another attempt like they did on this day dated January 17th -or- even dare to come anywhere close to my home again, the police will get involved. I filed a police report to have this on record that I caught them red-handed about to enter my garage. As far as their qualifications for contractor job... I had high hopes when I chose this father and son team based on the other 5-star reviews and since their bids were comparable to another contractor. However very soon we realized as the job started that they were unreliable and basically don't know what they were doing. They "learnt" how to put up drywall a year ago by watching YouTube videos. And also turned out they are not licensed. Since they don't know what they are going, and kept asking me "what needs to get done" or "ask Home Depot what tools and materials are needed", their quotes are not reliable. Be warned if you discuss any jobs with them, they would end up asking for more money because "it took more work, time and effort" even when they agreed to the job and estimate. And trust me... the language barrier is REAL. Lots of mistakes on part 1 of the job putting up drywall. And part 2 painting was a botched job with paint leaked over our brown painted garage door. There were other mistakes made that cost us more money to hire someone else to fix. We couldn't keep working with them for part 3 of the project, it was a waste of our time and money, and mostly really stressful. Nikita is the son, barely 18 or 19? He 'translates' for his father Donat who doesn't speak English and never shows up earlier than 1pm to start any work because he has personal things to do. They are consistently unreliable and hard to schedule -- always saying they have other bigger jobs that seems more important for them to do. It was a major headache trying to get them to do anything and we highly regret hiring them... And now after catching them entering my home thinking nobody is home -- just proves even more so what kind of people they are. I'm beyond sick of dealing with "nice" contractors who turn out to be nothing but dishonest, scammers and untrustworthy... and now I can add trespassing on my property to my list of horror contractors stories.

Nick came, talked to us, checked out the system and advised us that it looks like we are connected. It's the Tesla mobile app that likely needs updating and we're in the clear. He gave us a ton of information, didn't try to sell us anything, and did this all for free. I know whom I'm going to call next time I have a solar glitch, or want to upgrade my system. You can't buy generosity, or good heartful service. It has to be given. Nick Bar is my solar guy. He should be yours.
