This place hits both notes for me :) Love coming here for my pedicures and staple no-chip French manicures. Honestly feeling dirty after receiving a mani/pedi here today. I've been home a few hours and my nails have already chipped as they did not paint them to the ends. My cuticles look no different than they did when I went in. The towels they put under my hands during the manicure were stained black and had clippings from the last customer. On top of everything, they were rude and refused to let my friends and I sit near each other, despite the fact that we had made appointments together for a friend's wedding. I'm so uncomfortable that I paid $62 for a poorly done manicure with questionable hygiene. read more

Don't even waste your time guys! I've come here 4 times in the past 6 months and service had never been great to begin with. But it was the closest one to me so I stuck with it bc of the location. I called today to see if I can walk in. They said they were busy at the moment but told me that I can come in at 12:45 (which is half hour later). So I went in at 12:45 like I was told and the owner literally said "well someone walked in before you so I can't take you until another 2 hours" (and she wasn't even looking at her appointment book, it seemed like she just made up a random time to send me away). Like seriously if they weren't sure if they could take me then why gave me a specific time to go in? It's not like I sit around all day and have nothing to do on a work day. The right approach would have been "look I can't guaranteed I can take you but if we aren't busy when you walk in then we can" because then I probably would have found another place that could take me. I was in Chicago for work and fun and desperately needed a new gel manicure. The no-chip mani and regular pedicure deal for $65 was a steal, and I splurged for the rose gold chrome top coat -- it's a shimmering powder that is then cured under a clear top coat -- for an extra $10. Not only was the polish job worth every penny, but the sweet, attentive staff and incredible attention to detail really sealed the deal. I'm from NYC where manicures tend to be rushed and imperfect, but everyone at the salon took her time and made sure it looked perfect. I am now a week and a half into my manicure with only one chip (from me opening a bottle of wine, admittedly) and have received compliments from friends, strangers, waitresses, and even actresses. I cannot stress how amazing West Loop Nails is. I want to move to Chicago just so it can be my salon! Thanks to everyone there. read more

This place is right next to my work, so I go regularly for the sake of convenience. There was a technician named Lily who consistently did a great job. When she wasnt there, the quality did not justify the price. They are extremely inconsistent. There was one time I walked-in for a mani-pedi and mid-pedicure the guy that works there told me after my pedicure I would have to wait 30-45 mins for my manicure! He said it was because I was a walk-in and other people had appointments. Perhaps they shouldnt say they can accept a walk-in if they cant accommodate the service in a timely manner. I would have preferred to have been told they were booked and I would have gone elsewhere. I talked to the manager and ended up getting my manicure right away, but the guy certainly made a scene about it. I came back after that experience only because Lily was great. Well, now she's gone (for good it seems), and once again I've had a shitty experience. First, the girl wasnt paying attention and filed the 2nd nail she worked on so short that the rest had to be taken down to match (there went a month of effort to get my typically brittle nails to the length I want!). Second, she was super aggressive with the buffing to the point of pain and I had to ask her to take it easy. Third, and I HATE when they do this (manicure pet peeve), she didnt paint to the cuticle. Now what should be a fresh no-chip looks like it's got a few days of growth. I asked her to please paint to the cuticle after I saw her 1st coat, but she eithered ignored me or didnt understand and had no interest in asking what I meant. Last, she left several little hang-nail looking pull-away pieces of skin that were not there when I came in. Other reviews have mentioned this as well and it's likely they dont use sharp clippers. Safe to say Im done giving this place shot. I recently came across an amazing new salon called Chamin Nails. It's not close enough to be super convenient, but they did a PHENOMENAL job for a better price (the only reason I didnt go today was because they were booked). I can't even begin to tell you how much I loved this place. I went there every two weeks to get my nails done. I knew the staff by name. I was a loyal customer. I now will never go back. I went in one day and was assigned a new employee to do my no chip. It took her two hours to do my nails. My hands were in pain by the end of the process. I had the nail polish all over my skin, chunks of skin missing and there were parts of the nail that had no polish on it at all. Worst of all I had a wedding the next day. My child could had done a better job. I politely explained I was not happy with the end result. They gave me the option of getting it redone right then and there but with the amount of pain my fingers were in I literally couldn't, my hands were on fire from being over exposed to the LED lights. They demanded I pay for the services and if I wanted a refund I would have to come back the next day when there manager was in store. I was leaving out of town the next morning. I thought this was ridiculous. Even the two of the other nail techs had seen my nails and agreed that what had been done to me was wrong. But still the make shift manager whom they had called yelled at me over the phone saying I am paying no matter what. All in all the customer service there is terrible. They lost a great customer. I always tipped well and had even referred friends to that salon. What a shame. Your loss guys. Get better management. read more

Another day, another manicure. Story of my little life, right? Well, not really...but I am on a mission to try each and every one until the day I no longer have nails to pamper. Here we go....! And I standby my mani-mantra...getting your nails done (especially with frigid weather approaching) really does right the world back on track. For $15, it's a helluva lot cheaper than vacation, therapy or hair extensions. Werd. West Loop Nail Spa seems to be the spot down 'round here for the no-chip mani. I'm not a fan, but who knows...and if I change my mind, I may head back for it. Their current special of $55 for a NC mani and a regular pedi is quite a steal, if I do say so myself. Waltzed in with one of my fav gals around 7pm (they are open til 8pm during the week!) on a Monday, and only waited about 10 minutes for two manicure chairs to open up. They have a fabulous and clean salon with a great assortment of NEW Essie and OPI colors. I was bequeathed a wonderful pale lavender gray that my nail tech had stashed away, and it was a perfect late fall pick-me-up. She whipped my digits into shape in no time flat...and I left with a sparkling outlook on life for Approximately $19 (with tip). $15 price point for a mani...par for the course in the West Loop. They have great midweek combo specials in the mid-30's, so def worth a stop in. In my experience in the West Loop this place measures up quite well, and street parking (meters) is very easy, or there is a cash lot across the street for $5. Green line Clinton is close as well, and obviously the Halsted bus. Quite large, and would be great for a smallish girly party with 5-6 pedi chairs. I visited West Loop Nail & Spa last week for a mani/pedi. The nail salon supposedly does not close until 8pm, but when I showed up at 7:30pm I was turned away. First the nail tech told me that everyone that was in a pedicure chair just so happened to also be getting no-chip manicures, so there would be no time for me to receive ANY services. Then she suddenly flipped the script and told me that I could be serviced, but I would have to pick either a mani or a pedi. This was not acceptable. Why would I drive 30 minutes in heavy traffic plus pay for parking to receive half of my desired services? I explained this to her and pointed out the fact that they were still open for at least a half hour, not counting the time that would need to be spent cleaning and closing the salon. The nail tech unapologetically told me that I still could not be seen. I have patronized this nail salon on other occasions, and the service is already nothing to write home about, but I continued to visit them. This was the last straw and after this incident I will do my best to not patronize them again or recommend them to any friends. If a business advertises certain business hours online and in their window, they should honor them--even if I had to sit there and wait a few extra minutes for an available tech. If the nail salon was unable to take on more patrons, the open sign should also not be in the window when I drive past, because you are clearly not open for business. I have never experienced a service oriented business turning away customers before their business was closed. Beware of visiting this nail salon if you plan to arrive anytime in the last hour before they close. read more

I am not very happy with the results from this place. I got a mani pedi that lacked thoroughness and detail. My manicurist hastily pushed back cuticles and only snipped anything obvious. She sloughed my feet with a quick, floating motion that barely touched me. The filing, like the rest of her tasks, was quick and half hazard; I had feats of nail poking out despite polish. And the cherry on top, I had 2 fingernails chip in less than 24 hours since my appointment. Today is 36 hours since and my manicure has chipped to the point that it looks like it's 2 weeks old. I had a friend with me who's experience and result were slightly better but she also got no chip. Don't go here, you could do this type of mani pedi at home with better results. read more

I scheduled an appointment with Tina (the only one who does gel overlays), I showed up on time, and I was told I couldn't be seen because someone "forgot" to put my name in the appointment book! -_- There were no accommodations made for me, even though I had the call record to prove that I called to make an appointment. After the initial shock of discovering that a manicure costs $15 in Chicago [1], my vain, conceited half convinced me it was in my best interest to go ahead and have my nails buffed, shined, and varnished with an almost-but-not-quite black shade. Nail polish color selection is never that difficult, but I did notice that West Loop Nails had almost all of the new OPI colors, along with a lot of old favorites. (Looks like I'll be a return customer by default.) I also noticed how well-maintained the salon was; everything seemed very sanitary. I did have to wait patiently for about 15 minutes or so (the salon is very crowded on the weekends). Although the salon was packed, my technician took her time and was very meticulous throughout the entire process. The hand massage was a little weak, but she did an excellent job cutting, filing, and painting. The results were amazing (the polish looked incredible, very iridescent and shiny) and I was chip-free for almost a whole week. Had an appointment this morning with a friend for a mani-pedi. When we arrived there was only one employee, so we were left to soak our feet in (increasingly colder) water until the other showed up (about 25 minutes). By the time the employee had showed up, my feet were pruned and I had taken them out of the water. She promptly instructed me to put them back in, despite my telling her what was going on. No extras- the massage was so-so and I had to flag someone down and ask for things that are well attended to at other nail salons the area. Employee seemed annoyed to fix a smudge, didn't offer to help with my shoes/ coat and didn't seem to understand when I explained that my parking meter was running out due to being there for two hours because of their error. They were very nice after I wrote a one star review on yelp, and apologized for the bad experience I had a few months ago. This time around I had a technician named Andy who was very friendly and personable. He only asked me once if I'd like any additional services and when I said no, he didn't ask again. Thank goodness, as the pushiness I experienced at my last appointment was extremely off putting. My pedicure was nice, nothing extremely special, but I did receive a leg massage this time, unlike at my first appointment. I've changed my rating from one star to three stars because it wasn't the best pedicure of my life, but it was far better than my last appointment. Would I go again? Maybe, but I'm not rushing back anytime soon. I went to this nail spa with a living social coupon last week and had a horrible experience. I had a male technician who repeatedly asked me to upgrade to get the shellac manicure treatment. I politely refused and he went on to ask me at least five more times throughout my pedicure. No means no, the first time I say it, geez! Stop being so pushy. He rushed through my pedicure and scrubbed my feet for a total of 30 seconds. I saw other technicians giving nice leg massages with the exfoliating scrub, but my guy rubbed it on then immediately washed it off. My manicure was also extremely rushed. He did not give my hands any type of massage and it was basically equivalent to a polish change. He seemed very annoyed when I asked him to cut my nails. Overall, I would never return to this nail salon. Unfortunately I had been there once before and had good service, but this time was a whole different story. I'm just not impressed. The service is a bit better than most places I've been but I didn't come here for the service. I walked in intending to get a pedi and a full set of acrylic nails. But I guess they only had one lady there that could do acrylics and I was told she wouldn't be in for an hour. So I settled for the pedicure and a no chip mani. After my pedi, my toes look pretty good so plus one for that. But the no chip mani, oh... I'm not impressed. I requested a matte top coat and with matte, you can see the flaws. The no chip mani was three layers thick, it feels like I have a glob of gunk that I can't scrape off. The matte highlights any imperfections; you can see the pattern of the brush. It's just not smooth. It's like I have stripes on my nails. Plus the nail polish started so far from my nail bed. It looks like I've had my nails done for a week and a half or so. I'm just disappointed, the reviews looked so good. Maybe I'll come back for a pedicure or try the acrylics when the lady is in. But aside from that, I probably won't be getting a no chip mani from here. read more

I've gone to the same nail place for about 5 years. But I may start cheating. I spend all my weekends in West Loop, and have been looking for a decent priced nail place within walking distance. This is it! This shop is conveniently located about 10 steps from Lake and Halstead. The #8 Halstead bus stops right here too. You walk in and it is a big bright room with a lot of warm colors, marble looking interior, and some very funky chandeliers. It almost resembles a type of ballroom. There are about 8 pedicure stations, and the same for manicure stations. The manicure stations look VERY nice as the table tops are all black granite. There are a few TVs hung as well. Their color selection is one of the best I've come across so far. Lots of great new seasonal colors available. Every employee was very nice who I met there. And even a little conversational. That NEVER happens to me at nail places. They are running a bunch of specials right now. She said pedis are $25. And my fill was about $18. They are open pretty late ion weekdays as well. I'll go back here for sure. The offer every kind of waxing as well as nail treatments. My only complaint was that my arms and elbows started hurting after a bit on the granite counter. They don't have the pads like most other places do. The granite counters have sacrificed a little function- for fashion. UPDATE: Had a nail break today. (Less than 24 hours after my visit.) Grrrrr! This is the place to go for a no chip manicure. I have had much better luck having them last here than many places. The price is also better here for no chip than most. There is a tall, slim male who works here who I have seen be very aloof and almost rude to customers. I had him once and he was fine, but I was worried. This is NOT the place to come get a pedicure. They are chintzy on the massage and my polish (they only gave me one coat) chipped within a day. Normally a pedi can last like a month on my feet. I love, love, love my nails!!!!!! Did I say I love my nails? I purchased a living social deal for a mani & sports pedi. First let me start by saying the shop is very easy to find, its not off in a corner, or down a deserted alley. Its right off the main street, very easy to get to. The shop is so pretty. It was very clean & organized. The massage chairs are to die for, soooo relaxing. They have tons of nail colors for u to choose from. I went at 10 am so the shop wasn't crowded, and they started on my pedi as soon as I came in. No heavy acrylic smell in the air, which is a plus for me. I was in bad need of a Mani/Pedi, they cleaned my nails up nicely. I even did the dumby and completely smeared my nail while at the drying station and they fixed it with a smile. I only gave 4 stars because I think the whole experience could've been longer. I got there at 10 & was finished by 11. But all in all great experience, definitely going back. read more
