Love this salon - a friend recommended them for local, walk-in, no-chip manicure and pedicure. They took me and another friend without a reservation on a Sunday evening at 4:45pm, even though they close at 5pm. They provide all brands for no-chip, they are fast and also give great pedis! Very happy! My friend got a no-chip by Andy, and was thrilled (forgot to ask about cost...). I had a an old no-chip removed, nails filed and had a strengthener applied. Then got a pedicure. Called ahead to make an appointment for a no chip/pedi. They started on my no chip as they were finishing on my pedi which I always like because it gets me out of there faster. Pedi was great, no complaints there. The woman doing my no chip spoke little to no English at all, although she was very nice and did a good job. The only area where my complaint comes in is with the tip. They DO NOT, and they made this very clear, accept anything but cash tips. I had no cash on me and they would absolutely not up charge my credit card, so being that I only live about 10 min away I went home to get a check. Meanwhile, the woman next to me getting her nails done was also complaining that she had no cash and they wouldn't help her either. The woman doing my nails assured me they would accept checks for tips, so I walked all the way home and came back to ask if I made it out to the appropriate place and she could not understand what I was asking. I went to ask the other woman who spoke English and she told me they do not accept checks. At that point I was fed up and walked out without tipping the lady. Sorry, but that's their own fault. Within about 5 minutes of each other they had two people complaining that they only take cash for tips, don't you think that'd be a sign to make a change?! read more

They do an excellent job! TIP: Make your appointment in advance! This place stays busy. They take walk ins but because they're so good the wait time can range anywhere from 10- 45 minutes. That's why I'd recommend scheduling an appointment. The only downside is they sometimes use gelish for no chip and it's near impossible to get the gelish polish removed. read more

I have been here twice for fill ins when I have been in the area. My most recent gel fill in here was really good. Vanessa paid careful attention to detail when completing my nail service and was also gentle with the nail tools. I also got a repaint of my toes which also came out very well. I am a little confused about their pricing here though. When I made an appointment over the phone I was told a gel fill in was $26 (average). Since I added the repaint on last minute, I figured it would be around $40 with both services, but it was $48, so maybe the toe repaint was $22? (kinda pricey). WLNS has been my go to nail place for awhile. Its close, its clean, the staff is friendly and they get their work done quickly. I used them for my wedding and the no chip mani lasted(and the regular pedi too) all the way through our honeymoon, so about 2.5 weeks. It finally chipped this week as I waited until Friday to get my nails done. There is usually a little wait and I try to avoid "after work" hours to avoid the rush. I find it easier to call ahead, even if its just an hour or two, and make an appointment. My complaint today is that I always ask them not to trim my cuticles. I have had the same lady the last two times and it seems to me that she is always a little rough. I was disappointed when I got her again as I find myself grimacing as she shoves my cuticles back. She doesn't notice because she is always watching the door, maybe Brad Pitt is coming in? This morning my pinky is red and swollen. Painful even without moving it. Upon closer inspection there are little gouge marks where I thought she was trimming a hangnail but no she was just removing chunks of my flesh. I will use WLNS again but I am hoping for another gentler staff member in the future. read more

I wanted to wait a week to write this so that I could see how long my mani/pedi would last but there was no point. I got my nails done on a thursday, and by saturday night almost every nail had a chip on it. The polish was too thick, I think. On top of that, my cuticles don't looks like I had a manicure. At all. They were 23 minutes late for my appointment, but did not rush. The girl working on me was friendly and took her time, but my nails look like crap. I won't be going here again, but I need to find a good mani/pedi joint near my new hood, so I'm glad I tested them out. Oh, and it's only $35 for the combo. My toes are fine. read more

I received a response from a Kelvin, whom I've never met in the salon. I have been a regular and loyal customer since they opened and withstood the up charge here and there and the quirks of the salon. I even kept going after my favorite, the owners brother left the salon abruptly for the second time. Kelvin's excuses are just that, excuses. The salon has steadily declined and become more rude as time has marched on. The owner seems to have a difficult time holding onto talent there on top of all the other things I cited. Do yourself a favor, and find yourself a clean salon who honors the prices they promote and who are happy to have you. It's unfortunate the owners do not heed advice of someone who has been a very regular client. At least two times a month I went, even in the winter. My money has found a new home at TM Laquer and I'm very happy to have found a pleasant, clean, and honest atmosphere to spend my money in. read more

My first visit to West Loop Nail was this weekend. There were 3 of us and we did not have an appointment. It was busy but they got us in right away for pedicures. Since it is December in Chicago I had to put socks and shoes on after drying for an extra long time. One of my toes got smudged really bad, so I went back the next morning. I just moved to the west loop and am looking for a clean, affordable, comfortable nail salon. This is NOT the place. I was extremely rushed while I picked out my color and when I sat down she didn't even let me soak my feet. She instantly started taking off my polish. She didn't scrub away dead skin at all and was very messy while painting my toes. Nail polish was all over my skin. She didn't cut them down evenly at all and didn't file them after either. Mai laid down a sick set of gel nails for me!! I am really particular about the process: completely dry nail bed, bond aid or similar PH balancer, cleaning up any polish on the skin before putting them under the light etc. Mai did not cut a single corner with my manicure. She even appropriately capped off my nails with polish on the tip to prevent chipping. Seriously the best manicure I have had in two years. As a walk in (on a Monday early afternoon) I was seen and seated right away. Sex and the City played in the background and the salon was quiet and serene. Came here for a pedicure yesterday and left their establishment not terribly impressed. I had made two appointments for myself and a friend, but when we arrived, the spa was full. They hardly acknowledged at the door, and after I told them I had made two appointments, they didn't apologize. Instead, they demanded that my friend get started first and left me to wait at the couch on the other side of the room. Eventually, I got restless and migrated to her area. After all, we were getting a pedicure together in order to catch up. I waited almost 20 minutes before my pedicure began and never once did they acknowledge this oversight of our appointments! The pedicure itself was average. Their massage chairs are pretty nice. However, at the end of the pedicures, they were very awkward about moving my friend and I around the salon to wait for our toes to dry. At one point, the male staff member turned off the drying machine while we were using it, without even saying anything. At the end, I had to ask two staff members for plastics to wrap our feet in so we wouldn't ruin them in our shoes. A decent pedicure, but the customer service here is off. They would do well to put some smiling faces in their salon who offer help rather than wait on the customer to ask. I don't plan to head back. read more

I only found out about this place through yelp and I love it. It's within walking distance and they always do a great job! I have never left with a smudge because there is too much polish and not enough time to dry my nails when I come here. The massage chairs are super relaxing and the manicurists are very detail oriented and friendly. As long as you book your appointment in advance between open and 3pm a mani/pedi is only $29!!! I was trecking it all the way to Greektown for a mani/pedi...who knew I had a gem right in my own neighborhood!? I did a walk-in on a Monday and they were pretty quiet so they were able to take me in 5 minutes. I just did a quick manicure on my lunch for $15 and it was quick but great wokmanship on my cuticles & shape. Linda is the girl who did my nails and she did a fantastic job! I love my pedicure. The male technician did a splendid job with my gel coat. However, I hate my manicure! They are extremely overpriced for the work done. The old woman acted as if she had never done acrylic before. Be it negligence or bad eyesight it is without saying that I won't be coming back. The nails are sideways and uneven. Everyone is very nice, but I came in for a no-chip manicure and a pedicure for my wedding a week and a half ago, and am not thrilled with the results. Unlike the no-chip manicure that I received here previously that lasted for three weeks, this one is already peeling. I noticed this time during the manicure, that I was directed to only do one process under the lamp as opposed to the two that I had the time before, so I am assuming this was a contributing factor, but I figured that I was only told to do one this time as it was a lighter color.... My pedicure also chipped within the week, which is unusual for me... I am sure I will return, as it is close to home, but I don't think it will be a regular place for me, unfortunately. read more

This is my regular spot for my mani/pedi, non-chip, and waxing. I love Vanessa, and the other technicians are great as well. Vanessa gets you in and out and is always very accomodating. I think it is best to call ahead, which is what I do, and check with Vanessa or the other technicians on when they have an opening. Usually I walk right in and don't have to wait when I do this. My best friend made an appointment for me. I am a low key guy who occasionally likes to get pedis and add on the mani. Everything went well until I was accidentally cut by one of the manicurists. My friend, a physician, attempted to tell her to just apply pressure. They apply a certain medicine that stops the bleeding, and we were just a bit concerned about not being told what they were applying on my cut skin. I understand accidents happen and the learning point is perhaps to inform the customer and allow them to make a choice, and perhaps offer a complimentary service in light of common mishaps that could happen. read more

I never post reviews. I live in New York and get my nails done all the time, never had this problem. After seeing the first coat, asked woman to paint my whole nail to the edges on each side of the nail, she nods at me. Then does it the same way again. When I said something she replies "if I go close to cuticle it look messy" like what??? Isn't that what nail polish remover is for? If you get it on the skin you just clean it up. I have been going to this place since they opened a few months ago, and it is wonderful! Vanessa, the owner, is really friendly and does a great no chip manicure. Their prices are amazing -- $32 for a mani/pedi and their pedicure chairs are nice. They also have a big TV you can watch while you are getting your nails and toes done. In the past, I have had really bad experiences with Chicago nail salons, but I am a big fan of this one. I also recommend their eyebrow waxing services. $35 for a mani/pedi with the "awesome lady massage chairs"??? Well sign me up, slap some polish on me, and scrub my hard heels! I've only been once now, based on another friend's review of the place and HELEN, who is the best and the leg massage portion of the pedi. And I was not disappointed. And they have THE chairs. Like THE awesome massage chairs that make you feel like you've got two massage therapists on you while you're getting worked on at the feet area. The facility is clean, the staff is attentive and friendly, the color choices are top of the line, and I will definitely be going back. I don't care that they don't offer me complimentary tea or coffee, I can bring my own.
