This coffee shop is a bit far from where I live but I'm going to be here almost every day studying during Christmas Break, so I can finish trying their seasonal drinks. I ordered the Sweet & Spice, which is a cold brew coffee with condensed milk, which was a giant glass and very reminiscent of autumn. I really want to also try their taro latte and yam spice latte. Having these seasonal offerings is partially what makes this place stand out, but don't forget to order a pastry! They're honestly very affordable when comparing the portion sizes to those of Starbucks and they taste so so much better. The avocado pound cake comes out looking like a muffin, but is ridiculously smooth because of the avo and butter - I would come here solely for this and even forgo the coffee if I had to. The only downside was that the espresso brownie was dry though it was a very large square. read more

Denton is known for its wonderful coffee shops and this one has been a great addition to the community! Located on the Square, it makes for a quick stop to grab some coffee before you go shopping or to relax and catch up with friends or study. When I first learned they were going to add another coffee shop on the Square, I wasn't a fan. I've always known Jupiter House to be "the" coffee shop on the Square so this took some getting used to! Their breakfast option is really good. Avocado pound cake muffin is a life changing experience and I think mine was called something like brie bird and it's good too with great harmony of sweet and salty with Jam and Hams. Now the bad part. I ordered 16oz Americano and he gave me 12oz. When I informed him that I ordered 16oz, he said no problem and poured hot water to fill 16oz cup. I asked if 16oz gets extra shot of espresso and he said no, 16oz just comes with more water. He's either lying or they sell watered down coffee for higher price which is not fair. I asked for extra shot and he just waived $1 for me because line for cashier was too long. If you want 16oz Americano, ask how many shots come with it and if they put 2 shots, ask for extra shot if you like real coffee. read more

Loved loved loved the vibes of this coffee shop! The atmosphere was calm, relaxing and quiet. I loved the background music and could get work done at this place. The space was very open and had lots of tables. Loved that it had big tables as well, as I love to spread my work and papers out. I got the SOS for food, and well, to my disappointment, was very bland and lacking any flavor. I wish it had some sort of flavor but the egg drowned the bread and I didn't taste much. The iced vanilla latte I got, however was phenomenal! I love trying basic coffees out and this place did not disappoint in terms of their coffee. They do not have soy milk. I tried the oat milk vanilla latte. SO GOOD. I usually go to Jupiter House, but it was closed because of a fire next door a few days before. The only thing I'm not into is there is very limited plug outlet space. I think there are only 2 spots in the back, which are always being used by someone else. read more

I'm a sucker for coffee shop vibes. West Oak is definitely my first stop on the list when I'm in the Denton area. I normally get their cortado but tried their vanilla latte with an extra shot of espresso and it is ON POINT! Their handful of craft beer selection on tap is great and love that they switch them out seasonally. ...and I can't forget to mention the chocolate milk on tap. DAMN! So good. The baristas were very nice and patient as we browsed the menu to figure out what we wanted. The prices were comparable to other coffee shops and the cold brew had great flavor! One of my favorite coffee places in the Denton area. Very cute interior, with Christmas decor up at the time of my visit. I asked the girl at the counter for recommendations and she recommended to me the sugar plum fairy latte, which was pretty good. Could have used some sweetener. My boyfriend had the nitro nog, which I was jealous of. Not only was the presentation gorgeous, but the bits of crystallized orange syrup on top were delicious! Chocolate milk on tap, say what?? Well, how can I resist that?!? Stopped by here on a Sunday afternoon a little after 2pm. It was our first time here. Want to know why? Because parking on the square sucks! It took 3 tries to find parking 2 blocks away, lol. Anyways, I finally got to check this place out and it's pretty cute. The menu shows a limited breakfast and lunch menu, some desserts and a variety of drink options. I noticed quite a few of the food items were marked vegan and I think several of the desserts were gluten free. I noticed a Monte Cristo on the menu which I haven't had in years but I was on a mission. A mission of the dessert persuasion! Upon approaching the register, the two friendly male baristas were very attentive to our order and very encouraging as well. I asked if they did indeed have this mystical chocolate milk on tap, because that sounds awesome, and they heartily agreed that they did. My husband got a mocha latte, which sounds delicious, but not nearly as delicious as chocolate milk on tap. Then I took a deep breath in and mentally told myself to behave if I didn't like the answer. You see, I've been burned in my quest for a good dessert all weekend and being a cake girl, it's pretty rare that I want pie, so if I'm in the mood for it, it shouldn't be so damn hard to find! Anyways, I steeled myself and asked if they had the Nutella Pretzel pie on hand and they did indeed- score! I was given a playing card stand for my pie and off we went to find a seat. This place has some great repurposed wood furniture, which is pretty popular in town, but it gives it a great look. The place was hopping, we had to get a seat all the way in the back, near a funky coffee table and some comfy looking couches- which were immediately snatched up by the next set of people. There were laptops everywhere and the bar and bench seating has charger stations, which is a nice touch, especially in a college town. There is plenty of space for small group projects and two spots for large groups to gather. Lots of people were there studying. Would I recommend going there to study? Not really, it was really loud and a little chaotic, didn't seem conducive to focusing. That being said, the friendly baristas kept up with the onslaught of orders. My husband liked his mocha latte and the coffee art stayed throughout him drinking it. I thought $4.53 for a small seemed a bit high but I'm usually already at work when coffee places open, so I don't really know what the going rate is for overpriced coffee. My chocolate milk on tap didn't disappoint and I thought $2.50 for a 12 oz was fine. Now $5 for a pie better deliver! The slice seemed small but it did taste good. I'm a big fan of sweet and salty treats and the Nutella was rich so it needed the pretzel to cut through that. Frankly, I thought it needed more pretzel. The bites that had it were divine, but it was mostly crumbled on top and barely throughout, I wish I didn't have to dig for it so much. The crust was outstanding!! These people can certainly do a good pie! Overall, good visit with fantastic service and good drinks. Not a bad place to stop for dessert if you are dining on the square. If I'm already in the area, I wouldn't mind checking it out again and trying a scone or seeing how their Monte Cristo is. Would I go out of my way to try and vulture a parking spot? Nah, but that's because I like my atmosphere's low key. This atmosphere appeals to the younger crowd and there's nothing wrong with that! Shortly before I left, I noticed my receipt had A-A-Ron as the order taker. I love a good Key and Peele reference so that gets you a star right there, because I'm on a good chocolate high- exactly what I was looking for! read more

Stumbled across this place a year ago but never had a chance to stop by. However, on our next trip to the North Dallas area, I was able to stop by for a cup. The interior is stunning with the usage of reclaimed wood for its bar, tables and chairs. The outdoor patio is wonderfully executed; out of the way from sidewalk traffic is key. Everything from the soft lighting, unique light fixtures and artwork adorning the rugged brick walls tie the cozy atmosphere together. I ordered a cortado with oat milk and the Sumatra espresso blend (don't remember the exact name but it was a naturally processed bean). From register to pick-up station, my drink was handled with care and boy was it delicious! Baked goods, teas, beers on tap and a limited menu is also served here. The beer appeared to be craft beer on a clean 12 tap system. My girlfriend tried the Peach Green Iced Tea and it was very delicious and refreshing. The baristas here care about their craft and treat their customers very well! This is my go to spot in Denton for some locally roasted beans that are cupped perfectly by great baristas! Well atmosphere was cool, coffee was what ever . Got a vanilla latte and it was mostly steamed milk, couldn't really taste the coffee. Also got a maple bacon donut and holy crap was that spicy. YES SPICY!! Trust me I don't mind spice let alone I prefer on my savory food dishes. But it was SUPER SUPER SPICY. The bacon had to be seasoned with a bunch of cayenne or something and I couldn't even eat it . Very odd thing to do with a maple bacon donut. Neat place, lots of tables, food was very delicious. I like to be able to pick my choices and not have to have regular menu items. I picked fried egg, sausage patty, toast and orange jam. I was charged for each item. I asked to put them next to each other and not to stack everything on the toast. Particularly tasty sausage patty: juicy, flavorful and huge. First off I'm a UNT alum and I love Denton. Fast forward to a whole new life of parenting and I found myself back in Denton for a district cross country meet for my son. I had a few hours to kill before the meet so I decided to bring my laptop and do some work at Starbucks. Upon realizing they don't have inside dining, I got on Yelp right quick to find a casual coffee spot where I could grab a yummy drink and work. I read a review where someone said they felt older than the other patrons... at 30. Well my 50 year old self rolled up in there in my yoga pants, sweatshirt, puffer jacket and braces and felt like a spring chicken. Immediately upon entrance the staff is super welcoming and made me feel completely happy that I'd made the choice to stop in. I had a latte with some seasonal fall flavors that I can't remember and cinnamon. As I sat there sipping my drink and hunting and pecking away at my computer all while eavesdropping on the table next to me, I knew I'd made a great choice. read more

West Oak is my favorite coffee bar in Denton! The interior is super cozy and it's a great place for studying. The baristas are so helpful and nice, they always make great recommendations. I usually get the Chai Tea Latte which is my favorite drink, and they make my favorite version of it! I also tried their Taro Latte, which I was kind of reluctant to try, but it ended up being super creamy and and it wasn't too sweet -- basically it was a perfect taro latte! The only thing I'm sad about is that West Oak is ALWAYS crowded, especially on weekends. So I haven't been going as often since every time I try, the seats are taken. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to go on a cute little date, to get some studying in, or even just for fun! read more

Such a quaint coffee shop. Went with a coworker for a rainy day lunch. I had a veggie quiche (squash) and chai latte. Loved the presentation the chai was spicy and creamy and the quiche was perfectly cooked with a creamy center and crisp crust. I could have had more veggies in a veggie quiche, but it was delicious. My coworker had the breakfast sandwich and a latte with oatmeal milk. I didn't try hers, but both of our plates and cups were cleaned and we were satisfied. We will be back. read more

Coffee is wonderful, I had a problem with the price they had on food. I paid just about $6 for the "smash" avocado toast, which I am used to paying a good amount at coffee places because food is not their main product. But, I received a small slice of sourdough (maybe as big as a tech deck, no joke) with pumpkin seeds (peppers were advertised, not them seeds) that was no where near the price of $6 whole US American dollars. If you're going to serve food, work on your price and portions. I paid way too much for a SMALL mediocre piece of avocado toast. Now I know not 2 get it' Coffee is tight tho, thanks.
