I love that they have scripture on their wall. I had the earl grey tea which smelled delicious and tasted delicious. It's important to note that you will need to add sweetener to the early grey it isn't automatically included. Zera is a coffeeshop with a cause, giving back to men and women overcoming addiction to live a Christ centered life. Popped by here for an iced oat milk latte on a hot day. The service was very friendly and they also had a limited number of pastries on offer, which I resisted. Their mission is a noble one, helping formerly incarcerated individuals in the community. My latte was good, but a bit bitter. I don't normally go for sweeteners, but I wish there had been a higher ratio of milk to coffee and/or I had thought to get a flavored latte. read more

As a staple in the Denton community, each staff member shows up with gratitude and kindness so that the customers have solid service with a workable environment. I have come here many times for last night study sessions, and the workers are always so nice. Yea and coffee prices are cheap, as well as for the baked goods. They have sandwiches available too if you get hungry. The lemon pound cake was absolutely delicious! Moist but also fluffy and very flavorful while not too sweet. For iced tea, there is a refillable option which I love, and they always have 3 different types to choose from. I've had the hibiscus, peach and coconut. Peach is my favorite thus far. I also appreciate Zera's mission and community focused vision and values. The only con is the noise. Maybe of the time it's moderately quiet, but many nights there is a worship band practicing loud music in the space adjacent to the coffee shop. Sometimes there may even be a service or an event. In general, it seems like the people here are very noisy as well, and not as mindful about others. So if you prefer quiet when working, thus us not the place to go to. read more

The environment seemed cozy and perfect for events, but the coffee's quality did not justify how long I had to wait for it to be made, and the employees were extremely aloof and acted inconvenienced by my being there. I got oat milk in my coffee - even asking as I received the coffee if it was made with oat milk - and when I drank it, it 100% just had cow's milk. Thank god I don't have an allergy! I bought a cup while I was there, and the employee ringing me up didn't seem to understand what prices were being advertised as I had to inform him that he was ringing me up for almost twice the displayed price. He seemed annoyed that I even brought the different price to his attention. Finally, and some people may love this, but the heavy religious overtones were a lot. If it weren't for everything else, it may not have bothered me so much (if at all), but it just ended up reinforcing the fact that I will most likely not be back. read more

I am a frequent visitor at Zera Coffee shop. Every time I go the experience is the same: tasty coffee drinks and teas as well as delicious sandwiches and wraps, plus a warm, friendly, welcoming staff and laid back atmosphere. I always observe a wide variety of people in different activities at Zera. There are people who are studying, people who are working and people who are just hanging out happily with friends enjoying the yummy food and congenial feel of the place. This past weekend Zera added ice cream desserts to their menu! I tried their Reese's Sundae and enjoyed every bite! My favorite sandwich is their chicken salad on a toasted croissant. Truly divine! Stumbled upon this coffee shop tonight. Not only was the service friendly and the coffee good but the feeling of being in a place where healing and freedom happens fills the place with peace and joy. Kristin talked to us about what they do at Freedom House and the importance of the coffee shop to the ministry. The space is lovely, some comfy couches or large tables are available. There were a couple of groups there tonight and it made the place lively. I'm glad places like this exist in the community. This has become my new go-to coffee place and meeting place for friends in Denton when I'm not at the Denton Elks Lodge. The staff is always friendly and the atmosphere is friendly and bright. The Zera Blend coffee is a smooth medium roast that l regularly drink now, and they have an assortment of baked goods for those needing a bagel, cookie or croissant. The newly renovated zeras feels cold and dare I even say sterile, maybe they felt a certain need to compete with more modern spots like golden boy or Jupiter house but nothing will ever beat the moody atmosphere of the old zeras, especially combined with the big comfy couches and warm toned furniture that they swapped out for generic Scandinavian type furniture :( read more

I ALWAYS come here to study!! It's never too crowded and it's always so quiet or there's a nice background noise. The atmosphere is super calming, and the people are SO. NICE. I usually order the screaming eagle. It's a weird combination of Italian soda and espresso... but honestly my favorite drink among their other great choices! Today, I guess they ran out of vanilla so one of the baristas made me something just by winging it and guessing what I would like in my drink. we ate some tacos for lunch and wanted to grab some coffee before heading out to ray roberts lake. we luckily spotted this coffee shop nearby and decided to go. I had my usual - soy latte - and they accidentally gave me the 16oz even though I asked and paid for 12oz. I honestly don't think any place failed me with soy latte and thankfully this place didn't either. We didn't stay because we were going to the lake, but this place had lots of seating available. maybe I'll come back for some coffee again when I come to Denton to visit my friend :) read more

Love the decor and atmosphere here. It was very chill; quiet and relaxing with dim lighting overall, and lamps spread throughout. This is a perfect place to get studying or some work done and is very large, so you can have your space. You get 10% off your coffee order with a yelp check in. I, of course, forgot to use it because I was distracted by the lack of dessert options. However, the muffins and bagels looked really good, I would definitly get one of those if I had stopped by earlier in the day. We were there for coffee and dessert so I got a slice of lemon cake and a cappuccino, while my husband got an iced coffee. Total was $9.20 which is kind of high but the coffee is strong and good quality. I was disappointed that we didn't see liquid creamer or half and half at the station, though it could have just been out at the time. I saw powdered creamer and sugar, but my husband was disappointed the honey was generic, and not local. I wish they had more than one cake option as I don't care much for lemon in my desserts. They have varying options on different days, this is just what was available that night. I was determined to have dessert and the icing glaze was really good and the cake went well with the cappacino. One of the better iced lemon cakes I've tried, which is high praise from someone who doesn't care for it. I saw frappes, hot chocolate and quite a few coffee options that I would like to sample on a future visit. I didn't get a close look at it, but saw they have a small breakfast and lunch menu. The guy at the counter was really friendly and brought our stuff to the table. Lots of repurposed furniture here gives you lots to look at, and the music was at a good volume for the atmosphere. Zera's Coffee is a great community place in the Denton area. A bit from campus, but relatively close to the Square. It is constantly filled with people, but the spade creates for gatherings and talking. (Not so quiet like a Starbucks!) The space is so great to meet a friend there or have small group meet together for a Bible study or school project. When you walk in, you will walk into the main seating area where there are several tables to sit at, booths and even some comfy chairs. There's an assortment of pastries as well as sandwiches to even have a meal! Coffee is a given and they have mugs you can use. Great little coffee shop in Denton! I actually came here for my colleague's wedding reception, which was held in the hall next to the shop. It's definitely a small, cute little joint. The atmosphere was nice and chill. I don't frequent Denton at all, but I'd recommend this spot if you're wanting to sit down with friends, have a place to study, or meet individuals for business! The service was terrible, the barista looked upset that I was even present at all. He was annoyed that I asked what latte flavors they had. Then the lattes tasted like they had no flavoring at all. The coffee here is super gross. And the chai. If it weren't for the super concentrated syrup-y taste in the drinks then it would be fine but it's way too overpowering. I got the chai latte with almond milk but it was too sweet and had a font of a citrus taste. I switched my drink to the nutty irishman with almond milk and iced and still was not satisfied. I found myself very early in Denton on morning and Yelped for the nearest open coffee shop. I pulled up to Zera and found I had passes this place many times without realizing it in my previous trips to Denton. Tucked back in this covered patio, there is this VERY large coffee shop. I walked in and found it bussling even though I was not even close to being awake. I ordered an Americano and a breakfast sandwich. The breakfast sandwich was good, but not made fresh there rather from a package. Either way, it was tasty. The coffee was delicious! I have found not everyone can make a good Americano, but they sure did. I was greeted by very nice staff and surprisingly very young staff (think high school). I have used Zera's as a UNT student for the past three years. Not only is the environment study-friendly but it also varies enough to suit any party (1 to 30...seriously). The staff are always super kind and the bottomless tea will always be my go-to drink. I must add--the bathrooms are extraordinarily clean!
