We went because all four of us visiting the Hudson River Valley love sparkling wine. It is so expensive to get those bubbles into the bottles, as it were, that few wineries produce bubbly in NY and we were intrigued to try this vintner's product. Even if they do use Seyval as the base varietal. (Not our fav.) Lovely setting. Fun and funky tasting room. A great guy behind the tasting bar (CIA graduate now moved from food to wine) pouring one of the vineyards two sparklers and several of their wines derived from fruit other than grapes. A modest tasting fee ($10) provides five tastes of your choice. But I'm sorry to say we were not fans of the wine. Sparkling or otherwise. We almost always buy at least one "courtesy bottle" at a winery, even if we've had to pay for tasting. But we couldn't do that here. More fun or not depending on one's politics is the photo wall of pictures of the owners and Hillary Clinton and correspondence with Hillary Clinton. (Sadly, the husband of the husband - wife owner team passed away last year.) Wine aside, the setting is lovely and you can stroll around the grounds. And this is an easy - and beautiful - drive from the Hyde Park historical site to finish off a day of history touring. And it's on route to Red Devon Market, Bar and Restaurant, where we were headed for dinner. (And where YOU should go too...breakfast, lunch or dinner. Extraordinary place. But that's a different review. :-) ) Had I known this would be a first review for Clinton Vineyards I would have taken photos of the lovely setting and better photos of the tasting room. So it goes. But check the web site where beautiful pictures are posted for this charming place. A visit just for the setting is worthwhile even if you don't appreciate the wine.

The road to get to the vineyard is fairly secluded and it provides a beautiful scenic ride, which is an added bonus. The vineyard itself is very pretty and you can explore the grounds at your leisure. Tastings are $10 a person and you get to try around 5-6 wines each. I was with my fiancée and we got different ones and tried each others, so we were able to try everything, about 10-12 different wines. The winery specializes in dessert wines and champagne and they make quite a few really, really good ones. Their raspberry wine is super sweet and would go really well with a rich, chocolate dessert and their peach champagne is one of the best wines I've ever had. One of our favorites was their black currant wine and it's nice to see black currants being used, since they're so tasty. Overall, this winery is very nice and they make quite a lot of very good wines, though they are very expensive. If you don't like sweet wines or champagne, then this is definitely not the place for you. However, if you have a sweet tooth, you'll love this vineyard!

Even in February, the beauty and atmosphere were undeniable. Although we were unsure after reading some mixed reviews, booking Liberty View Farm was the best decision we made. Billiam and "Magic" Kathy have decades of experience, and we were comfortable trusting their guidance on timing, seating, and photos. It also made planning so much easier that things like bathrooms, linens, chairs, and tables were already included and we didn't have to get separate vendors. The day itself was seamless and full of thoughtful touches. One of the most meaningful was how Billiam and Kathy cared for my father, who is ill with cancer. They made sure he was comfortable, driving him back to his lodgings when he grew tired and later bringing him cake. We were floored by their kindness. The flowers were also extraordinary. Ivon is a true artist, and the lush tablescapes combined with antique china and linens created a timeless and unforgettable atmosphere. Many of our guests said it was the most beautiful and magical wedding they had ever attended, and I wholeheartedly agree. You get to see the entire brewery and the equipment they operate with, and there's also a good amount of seating at the front for after the tour. There's also an area where you can look at Sake for sale and buy to take home. Overall, it was a very fun and educational experience, and I would definitely recommend if you're into learning more about Sake!

It provided a detailed and hands on explanation of their entire process and the history of the property. It was truly exceptional! Their distilled spirits are excellent. I'm a whiskey fan and their product does not disappoint! While I'm not a huge gin drinker, their gin is incredibly unique and provides a complex tasting experience! Their vodka has a unique creamy texture on the tongue and was also excellent! The final tasting was performed in a beautiful private room where they rent out liquor lockers to frequent visitors! The atmosphere was very rustic, a lot of aged timber. The facility is quite clean, and the food was fantastic. Very intimate and romantic. It is a bit small, perhaps room for 90 max. The arrangements for the wedding were split between two separate buildings, a small bar and the barn which served as a hall. I would have given 5 stars, but for the following complaints. Take into consideration that this business opened recently, and have to work some kinks out, which shouldn't be too difficult to overcome. The barn was cold. VERY cold. The staff were very accommodating offering space heaters, but they need to find a more sustainable heat source. There was a Nor'easter with high winds and rain which didn't help matters. The short walk between the barn/bar was over grass. With the before mentioned Nor'easter, the grassy area turned very muddy. Again, the staff did their best and eventually put hay down. Lastly, the water in the bathrooms left a strong sulfur odor on your hands. Perhaps a better water softener could help. I'm sure once the bugs are worked out, it will be remarkable. Given the shortcomings, we still had a great time.
