I love boba, teas, smoothies, slushes, & milk teas. There's not much selection in Lubbock in comparison to other larger cities, which is granted given the size and lack of diversity in this city. Boba T West Straw's is the third "official" boba cafe in Lubbock to my knowledge (after Happy's & Bobalicious - NOT counting the boba teas sold at I Pho, Saigon Cafe, & more recently, Pho Cali). They are similarly priced to local competition in town, so pricing is not too "bad" seeing that they're not much more expensive or cheaper than other similar locations. My experience with them has been so-so, they're not unfriendly, but their customer service is subpar. They're cafe is in a prime location, seeing that it's close to campus in relations to their competition, and it's a cute little modern cafe. I'd say if you plan on studying there, don't study at the back half of their seating, because even with their neon lighting, it doesn't help much. Since they've recently opened, it makes sense that their employees may not be too confident/comfortable/knowledgeable in making the beverages as they should be. If this continues long-term, I'd say it's questionable then. They use powder in their beverages, and given the price you're paying for them (similar to other cafes that use fresh fruit) I'd expect fresh fruit. Sometimes they don't blend the powder enough and the texture is still gritty, and it tastes very artificial and overly sweet. They sell snacks, which is unique in comparison to their competition, but for 2 buns to pay $5.00 + tax? That's definitely overpriced. Overall, I'd say it's not my choice boba cafe to go to in Lubbock. I'm leaving a similar review to the one I left on their Facebook, which was a 3 star review rating, and the owner's response was NOT professional. I will post the pictures after I post this, as I'm not too familiar with the yelp app. Out of curiosity, I checked out the reviews on google for them, and I see a trend in how they respond to "negative" reviews. The lack of professionalism to constructive criticism to help assist other consumers such as me & the company to hopefully better their business long term leads me to say I will never be going back, and leads me to write this 1 star review. There aren't many places in Lubbock with milk tea, and this is only the second place in town that specializes in it (the other being Bobalicious in NW Lubbock). Despite the lack of competition, this is objectively quite good. I've only had their regular milk tea (here they call it Royal Milk Tea) with boba so far, but it's the standard I use for all boba places anyway: - Price: kind of on the expensive side. 16/24 oz sizes for $4.50/$5.00. Boba is an extra 65 cents, but I guess that's just the price of having a niche product in Lubbock. They told me they're planning on having a loyalty program soon though. - Milk Tea: Quite good! Not too sweet. Appropriate amount of ice (i.e. not too much). Good creamy-tea-sugar balance in my opinion. Not watered down. - Boba: Pretty good texture. The norm is to have them soaked in syrup or honey, but these don't seem to be unfortunately. - Decor: The whole place is quite modern, with a general black and white theme with colorful lights and alternative music playing overhead. They have enough seats for like 50 people or so, with a bunch of square tables. Probably a good place to play card or board games with friends! I would give this place 4 stars if it were in Houston or a city with more competition, but being in Lubbock, I really want these kinds of places to be successful. read more

This place is amazing! I love it! I normally get a large Royal Milk Tea with regular boba and I am in heaven every single time! It is a bit expensive due to the simplicity of the ingredients and there being several asian grocery stores than sell all of the ingredients but it is very worth it! The boba is always fresh and I've never had a wrong order! I've been to Happy's once (which was a mistake) and will always go to West Straw's from now on! Tip: Order a large - it's about a dollar difference between regular and large and you get sooooo much more. read more

A big NO to this place. I asked for a scoop of ice cream in a cone and they literally scooped the ice cream in a cup and put the cone on top of the ice cream. Upside down ice cream cone I guess??? Too bad it was freezer burnt. Blue Bell would be so disappointed if they knew their Brand was being sold like this. The staff was not helpful at all and rude. Took my father in there for dessert on his birthday after eating at Jazz Louisiana Kitchen and it was just a bad experience. Don't waste your time. read more

I was super excited about a boba place opening this close to campus but I was very disappointed by this place! The staff was super confused about their own menu and both mine and my friends drink tasted like sugar water/sugar milk (she ordered a peach slush, which tasted like sugar water and I ordered a mango smoothie with tapioca, which tasted like the milk leftover after you eat sugary cereal in it).
