(Jul 2026) We had two children riding a half-hour trail, with two guides and their dad walking along. And around a dozen adults of all ages rode with a guide for an hour-trail to wonderful vistas of the lakes. I got nice photos of a view west over a meadow towards Madison Valley, with mountains from 10,180-ft-tall Bald Peak to 10,321-ft Sheep Mountain behind a sliver of water. And an overlook of the lovely blue Grayling Arm of Hebgen Lake, framed between those mountains and 8692-ft Mount Hebgen. Afterward the (approximate) 1.5 and 3-mile rides, we fed the horses some carrots that we brought, and we had a light family picnic next to the corral. Staff were welcoming and skilled. The room was clean. The heat did not work well, so it got a bit chilly through the night. The hotel has a cute gift shop and you get a discount if you are staying in the hotel. That was really nice! We only went to the office to check-in and check-out. We stayed 2 nights and went to Yellowstone National Park. I booked via Booking.com. for $199 per night plus tax. However, I wished it had more amenities. For example, I didn't have a hair dryer in my room nor did they serve breakfast. However, there is nearby gas station - if I remember right - that will give you free coffee and tea if you mentioned you were staying here. Nothing really dealbreaking for me, but worth knowing if those little comforts matter to you .

The Hideaway Lodge was one of the only reasonably priced accommodations anywhere near Yellowstone,…read moreeven on a frickin' Tuesday, and with a couple of littles in tow, we needed something quiet, spacious and secluded. With a four bunk room available in a massive cabin with a truly unfathomable number of bedrooms (AT LEAST a dozen, if I recall correctly), and only ~35-ish minutes from the park's west entrance, this place proved to be everything we needed, and more! When we rolled up to the cabin in the early afternoon, we were the only people on site, guests OR staff. Approaching the sliding glass door on the ground floor, we found signage directing us on the self-serve check-in process, which basically boils down to a laminated sheet with your name on it, telling you how to find your room, and the rules of the house. Some rooms came with keys for their locks, while others required a code to lock/unlock them; ours used a code, which was nowhere to be found on our check-in document, but a quick call to the provided number solved the issue. Additional guests would arrive over the course of the evening: in our case, almost entirely consisting of one large party of Taiwanese tourists, who encountered similar issues with keys and door codes. Fortunately for them, I work for an extremely famours Taiwanese company (that they all knew very well), so we instantly hit it off, and I was able to get them the codes they needed, and help them all find their assigned rooms. Left to their own devices, they probably would have figured it out without my assistance, but the site owners should probably be a bit more present or accessible (other than a phone number in an area with no signal coverage, and lacklusterm under-performing wi-fi), especially for foreign tourists, whom might need a little more assistance. Beds were comfy (despitemy wife and I sharing a bunk, which we have done before - our room choice was intentional, due to the kiddos), there were plenty of bathrooms with clean towels, and the second floor boasts a massive kitchen, dining room and and living room (in addition to the smaller living room on the ground floor), meaning that even with nearly 20 people in the house, it never felt crowded, claustrophobic, or noisy. Additionally, the cabin's remoteness lends itself to some spectacular views of the sky at night...when the weather behaves itself. In short, we absolutely would stay here again. There is seemingly no better value for accommodations anywhere near Yellowstone, and if you have some sort of aversion to the concept of "hostels", rest assured that The Hideaway is really nothing of the sort: think of it more like your own personal cabin in the woods, plus a few unexpected guests, and with 100% less hauntings or chainsaw/axe murderers (at least in our experience). I booked a bed in a mixed dorm. There were 3 beds in there and I slept in the bottom bunk of one. The kitchen and bathrooms were clean and accessible, and even though others were staying in other rooms, I never had to wait for the bathroom in the two days I stayed. The bed was small but comfortable, and the parking area is out front/huge (no issues at all). It truly felt like staying at a friend's house; the interior wasn't "cabin-y," it was like a suburban house with carpeting and fully functional indoor appliances etc. Overall I thought this was one of the best spots to stay in between days at Yellowstone, I would definitely stay again.

You can tell the owner takes a lot of pride in this rental cabin it is always very clean and very affordable! We love the foosball table and the horse shoe pit. The Traeger grill is a nice bonus too. Mattresses are very comfy, great shower and we actually had pretty good luck fishing on Henry's Lake, and now there is the Yellowstone Playmill Theatre located just down the road. We will definitely give this place a nice review and we will definitely be back in our Yellowstone trips! Cabin sleeps 10 and yes dogs are accepted. Neighbors are also pretty friendly so that's good. Way better than staying at a motel, everything is furnished just have to bring your own food and bathroom stuff. The fire pit is a lot of fun too. I fully understand that most national park hotels don't have tvs or other amenities. This hotel also does not have WiFi, fridges in the rooms, easy access to a water fill station etc. The main reason for the 1 star is that we were in Yellowstone in July when it was over 80 degrees everyday. We stayed in 2w corridor facing the parking lot, the room had zero ventilation so even with the windows wide open and the fan running continuously at night, the room never cooled down. We were all overheating and miserable at night. I noticed other corridors seemed cooler so this may be different from wing to wing. Again the hotel itself is beautiful, old and historic. Definitely worth visiting if coming to see old faithful.

Our room was comfortable and had a direct view Old Faithful which we saw it spout a few times. We also had a guided tour of the various other geysers and mud pits. Oddly the breakfast buffet did not have any bread we ordered toast and were charged extra. Seems a bit nickel and dimey. Anyway you can't stay at a better location while in the park near Old Faithful. Mark
