Overall, I really enjoy their sandwiches. However, I think the customer service and cleanliness of the establishment could use some improvement. Tables are rarely clean and I've noticed flies recently, even in the bagel bins. Most of the employees aren't overly friendly and very few greet you with a smile or warm hello. I would give these guys 5 stars for their bagels, cream cheese, juice selection and quality, but a 2 for service. Basically you can get normal "take your order/here's your food" service during morning rush. They are neither friendly, nor unfriendly. There are always 5 people behind the counter, but if you get there when they are not in "counter working" mode and they are sweeping, stocking, or talking with each other you will not be acknoweldged ("I'll be right with you" has never escaped the lips of any employee there) and you will wait until they are finished with what they are doing before you will be helped. Customers are clearly an interruption of their day. When they are like this, I just leave and go somewhere else. But the bagels are great otherwise. read more

many things to say. 1. stop being rude to your staff. i can literally hear you telling them how they're not listening or doing their job right and you're NOT polite about it. it's just a bagel, it doesn't have to be perfect. sure i want what i pay for but you don't have to be rude to your own employees in return 2. i wish i got the name of the lady but she was heavy set and had long curly hair and a thick accent. she is very impolite to the customers and from what it seems a bully. 3. please tell your customers who already ordered to step to the side and not stand in line still. it's so confusing because i don't know who's ahead of me 4. have a phone order line. i ordered once and had to wait in line still for 15 mins. or just don't do phone orders. 5. overall just be kinder to your staff. especially the younger ones. as a mom of 2 who work in the customer service and food service i want young kids to be treated right and not yelled at for a stupid bagel. read more

My house is a short block away from Western Bagel. We've eaten there so many times, and every time it's been great. I always get two cheese bagels with plain cream cheese not toasted. It's the best! Chewy, cheesy and they love to cake on the cream cheese. That's why I keep coming back. They don't skimp on the cream cheese. The coffee's pretty good too thought we always walk over to Starbucks for our daily java. read more

Came to Western Bagel on a Sunday morning for a quick bite before leaving LA and really enjoyed the bagels! We got 2 bagels, mine was the cheese and onion with garlic herb cream cheese and the other was with smoked salmon, onion, and tomato. The service was good, fast, and there were plenty of places to sit and eat. It looked like either the owner or manager was walking around and chatting with folks (could be wrong, just appeared to have some power over the employees), and I really enjoyed how garlicky the cream cheese was! My only regret was ordering a cinnamon and cream cheese danish, which was not very tasty. The dough used for the pastry was dry, the taste was a bit bland, and overall just not worth the money. They didn't ask if we wanted it warmed up, perhaps it would be better that way, but I think in the future a bagel was more than enough and really tasty. I LOVE western bagel! Generally quick service at this location. My boyfriend and I always order the egg ala bagel on an everything cheese bagel with ham, egg, and swiss cheese. Good bagel place. I get bagels for my office from here all the time, and people have actually asked me, "Where did you get these?" (even people from the notoriously bagel-picky NYC area!) I am very disappointed by my recent experience with Western Bagel. As my husband and I entered the store, a girl promptly came from the back to greet us. She was carrying a broom and dustpan in her hands, obviously she had been cleaning. She set them down, without washing her hands afterwards. She then slipped on one glove as she took our order and grabbed the bagels we wished for in from the case. My husband requested to have his bagel toasted, so while it was heating she took our payment. While her one glove was on, she handled our cash and change (with both hands). Afterwards, with her now dirty gloved hand, as well as her dirty sweeping hand, she touched the toasted bagel and spread on cream cheese. We are disgusted and disappointed by this unsanitary behavior. While we respect that employees wear gloves while handling bagels, albeit only one glove, handling money with them on negates the purpose. read more

I've been coming this western bagel for many years and always received the best service until today. The employees in the morning always have best attitude, so pleasant and friendly with exceptions to the new manager who was very unpleasant, nasty and rude. I was use to seeing the previous manager, being so nice to the customers, greeting us and the other customers good morning. Let me tell you about the female manager now, who should not even be a manager at all in my opinion, or needs more training to be courteous and kind to the customers. She does not have a friendly demeanor. We ordered the Brads Bagel deal which was 4 bagels and a cream cheese..good deal right...so my husband and I wanted the lox spread instead because it excludes Lox spread and we were willing to pay the difference and this manager rudely I mean in a nasty rude tone of voice told the employee helping us "no they can't do that they can't pay the difference, it's not part of the deal" ....and just gave us the dirtiest look and made sure that the employee helping us did not give us that option so she just kept watching....I just felt so disgusted with her nasty attitude and looks...I kept my composure, I asked even if we pay the difference she said NO..and I'm like okay we will just get another cream cheese...as we sat down she just kept watching us....just made us feel so uncomfortable....I didn't care for her at all...she doesn't belong in the Burbank branch with the nice employees..she does not fit in..We did get her name and it's Stephanie. This is a great location! Their bagels are delicious and their employees are friendly and helpful. Their onion bagels (both the regular and the whole wheat) taste fresher than other locations, and the pieces of onion are plentiful and fresh. Obviously not dehydrated like you might find at other bagel shops. Helpful tip: If you're getting the onion or any other bagel with a strong smell, you might want to ask them to double bag them in plastic. It keeps the odor escaping into the car and home to a minimum. The cream cheese is incredible. Several varieties, all are really good - better than buying the ones at the grocery store. The only downside is that on or before holidays, their hours may vary from the usual posted hours, but they announce it with a sign on the door days before. Today is Labor Day, and they closed at 1:00 rather than their usual 6:00. It you're not from around the neighborhood, you might want to give them a call to make sure they're open and what time they close. read more

Golly, what a disappointment. Today, the very first time we wanted to take advantage of their weekly special (Hot Turkey Sandwich), they had NO TURKEY!!! They tried to sweeten the deal by offering any bagel sandwich at the same price - and while the sample of turkey salad was good - we had come in wanting the moist, delicious (I'm sure) turkey we've seen at the carving station for years. And, to add insult to injury, we were (uncharacteristically) charged for butter. So, either today's employee was overzealous or they've always given us a break, but we walked out somewhat disappointed. The bagels were good, a little light on cream cheese, but tasty. read more

I go to Western Bagel in Burbank whenever I can. Their coffee is excellent, they provide free wifi, and their bagel sandwiches and turkey sandwiches are the best! Staff is always helpful and courteous. I also have a punch card which I use to get a order lunch after every 10 visits. :-) read more

Rachel is amazing and has what it takes to make the best bagel and cream cheese sandwiches this side of Mississippi. My partner and I went in about two weeks ago. We both got into a major argument.
