I wanted to replace old carpet and pad in a converted garage space (now a family room) along with leveling out a slight slope in one of the corners. After talking with the guy at the front office space (sorry, I forget his name), I was able to get some good information about the products they carried and a rough understanding of what the process would be. A day or two later, Erik meets me at my house with a few sample boards and to take a look at the space (approximately 360 sq ft). I showed him a mockup I created for color reference and we went through the samples, comparing color, softness, thickness, pile and quality. None of the boards he brought matched all that I wanted (either right pile and softness but wrong color or visa-versa) so we scheduled a time to meet in the storefront. When I arrived, Erik and I pulled out several sample boards with potential candidates based on the discussion we had earlier and he patiently waited and answered questions as I narrowed down my options until I finally landed on carpet that met my requirements. He was able to give me a pretty close cost estimate right then, so I knew it was within budget and the official estimate came just a few hours later. I scheduled the install, which would take two days since I wanted to level is concrete slab also and time was needed to cure the self-leveler compound. On the day of the install Erik and his install team, headed up by José, arrived and quickly got to work. A fairly deep crack in the slab was discovered, causing us to need more leveler than expected (although Erik brought some extra bags just in case). José came back in the evening on the same day to see how the leveler did and after seeing that there was still a depression where the crack was, he went to work adding a thicker, quick drying compound to level it all out. The next day, the installers, with José, came in, validated the floor was level and the compound was cured and proceeded to install the pad and carpet quickly and cleanly. All the while, Erik was in constant communication with me either on the phone, via text message or in person. When any concerns or questions arrived, they were resolved or answered quickly. I am impressed by the quality of customer server and the finished results and would recommend Hardwood Plus for carpet installs.

When I sought estimates for this carpet replacement project on Yelp, Hardwood Plus was the first and fastest reply. Erik showed up on time and quickly gathered the information he needed while explaining some of the things that could go wrong, like leveling issues or finding something unexpected beneath the old carpet. He promptly provided a quote, and kept in touch via text message (a huge perk for phone call-averse people like me). When we visited the showroom to pick out the carpet and sheet vinyl pattern, it came as a relief that Erik was not interested in upselling - he'd present options, explain the pros and cons of each, and trusted us to make our own decisions. The first issue occurred on the installation day, when Erik messaged me to say the carpet had not arrived yet. He was apologetic and explained what had happened, but we would still have to wait another week for it to arrive. The second issue occurred after his team removed my old carpet: they found the tiles underneath contained asbestos and needed to be sealed, for an additional cost. This added another day to the sheet vinyl install, but this was a possibility he had mentioned early on. The team also accidentally broke my dryer vent, but Erik agreed to fix it with absolutely no fuss. Finally, there were a few little bubbles in the sheet vinyl I had to push out. But now that it's all done, I am absolutely over the moon with how great my new floor looks, and how delightfully plush the new carpet on the stairs and guest room is! I always pick the middle grade of everything I buy. After I pick the carpet I wanted I should have googled the quality of it, but I had faith and I wish so badly. I can rip this out. I look at it every day and regret the thousands of dollars I spent. So if you go with this company review the product that you're having installed, I am so unhappy. The carpet became very mat and very aged. I've now had to put runners to cover places.

Despite that it appears the carpet was cut in pieces to keep it light weight and easy to carry. I have a long run of 20' or more so they cut and seamed it in two places of high traffic rather than the long run as well as every doorway, etc. Sloppy seams and poorly cut edges. Once it was cut and installed there wasn't much we could do. Mike N. was difficult to keep focused on our job but got it done after difficulty getting the carpet on time. I had told him up front that I am very particular and asked for the best installer. For $10K I expected more. This was the third time we bought from Nielson. Won't happen again.

Just moved into a new place and wanted to extend the installed hardwood floors out into the bottom…read morebedroom and potentially into the entire upper floor. We had a few criteria when choosing a place: (1) Cost, (2) Timing and (3) Quality. 1. Cost - Being new to the area, we called 3 top-rated places (based on Yelp) to have someone come by, take measurements and give us a quote. All-Star responded the quickest. They contacted us the same day and we made an appointment for their person to come by the following day. He ended up coming a couple hours earlier which worked out in our favor. Alex took measurements the quickest (using the laser measuring tool) and he was out in 10 min. All-Star Flooring also turned around the quickest estimate - less than 24 hours. The next quickest place took 2 days. The estimate also came in at the lowest end of all the estimates we received. It was around 15% cheaper than next competitor. 2. Timing - We had a piano (2 at that) delivery scheduled within 5 days of receiving the estimate so it was crucial to get the flooring done into the extended bedroom before the arrival of the pianos. All-Star Flooring said they would be able to do it 2 days later and that it would take 5-6 hours to do. The other competitors were booked at least 4 days out and that left too close of a margin to deal with. They did mention that they would do it 3 days later but I told them our piano delivery situation and they made it work. Alex and his worker arrived 7:30 AM on the dot and wrapped up by 11am. 3. Quality - This is where we had to take a leap of faith. It was really based on a lack of negative quality reviews on their yelp page so I thought given everything else, it made sense to go with them. When they were done with the floors, it was as good as the builder's original floor, if not better. To wrap it up, I'm extremely happy that I chose them and while I didn't proceed w/ extending hardwood floors into the upper floor this time, I will be calling them to do that really soon.
