Get Your Sizzle On !! The Western Sizzlin is a unique restaurant that you have to try at least once. When you arrive at the counter, you pay for your meal in advance. If you order a baked potato with your meal, you get access to the 'Potato bar,' but if you order any main course, for an additional charge, you can delve into the salad bar, hot bar and the Potato bar. If you haven't been here before, it can be confusing, so in short, if you want access to the 'bars', you buy a main course and pay a little extra for the rest. One more thing, if you don't have cash, you can get cash on a credit card chargeback for tipping your server. With me so far? Once you sit down, you have to wait for your server to take your ticket for the main course purchase, and then they will bring you dinner plates, salad plates and bowls if you need them. While you wait for your main course, you can go town on the bars. I ordered the 10 oz ribeye steak with green beans and paid an additional six ninety-nine for the bars. There are four bars to choose from; one includes salad-related items, watermelon, and chocolate pudding. The next bar has more sliced veggies and an assortment of salad toppings. The next bar, the Potato bar, has the classic baled potato toppings like butter, cubed ham, crumbled bacon and cheeses. The meat bar, or hot bar, has brisket, chilli, wings, meatballs, and a few other items. Don't make the mistake most people do and forget you ordered a main course, as I saw some people go up to the bars a few times and fill their plates up. My steak was cooked a little past medium rare, but it was still better than okay. The green beans were a little bland and maybe not fresh, and the toast was buttered and tasted like buttered toast. You can get carried away at this hybrid main course and buffet restaurant, so be careful and be aware that you have a main course on top of the buffet items. read more

I've never heard of this place before. But wha I can say is I will be back. I was very happy with the taste of the steak. And the quality of the small buffet available as an add on to the steak. The wings were very delicious and large sized. The buffalo sauce was beyond delicious. And the bbq sauce was sweet and tasty. The other items on the buffet were tasty as well. The salad bar was plentiful. The prices were reasonable as expected. The staff were all friendly. And I felt welcomed from the time I walked in till the time I left. For someone who had never been here before our experience was one we won't be repeating. The cashier wasn't helpful. Ordering was confusing. We received no direction on what to do next. We just had to see ourselves and ask other customers how we got the plates even for the salad bar eventually a waitress showed up, but she also didn't explain anything. The food was mediocre. The food is great and usually the service is too. I often order food to go I'll order 5 minutes or so before closing and typically it's no problem as long as I pick it up before 8:15 when they lock the doors. It is always clean and presentable and all the staff is nice and helpful at all times and are always have a smile. Wife ordered Baked Potato n i ordered a Shrimp Dinner that came with the Salad Bar. First time here, and I would go back again. The food was good, waitress tired but friendly. We ordered 2 Med well 8oz. steaks with baked potatoes and both had iced tea. No alcohol here. It didn't come with salad, so I went back and ordered one salad bar. I grabbed him some Mac n cheese and me a one trip salad with ranch and a small cup of Brussel Sprouts. The entrees came with Texas toast but I did need to grab some extra butter and sour cream from the bar. Food was really good and fresh. Definitely will go here again. Well let's start with the entrance, I let the cashier know that I had never been here before (this is a restaurant where you order up front then just go pick your own seat). She informed me I could get steak, or anykind of meat item really along with a choice of baked potato, fries, onion rings, mashed potato, sweet potato... you get the idea, a whole lot of POTATO! I chose the chicken tenders and my date chose the grilled shrimp, along with each of us choosing sweet potato. Along with the potato they are nice enough to give you a piece of bread... ahhhhh starch mmmm healthy lol. We also could have added the 'potato bar' for an additional $4 but chose against this. We sat ourselves and within a minute or so a woman who seemed to be a lifelong waitress (they all appeared to be lifers here) came and asked us for our drink order. Pepsi products blah blah blah. 2 waters please. "Would you like lemon?" yes please. Waters arrived from a different person and no lemon. Food arrived and my single sweet potato (I didn't order a single sweet potato) along with my dates shrimp and sweet potato... and bread, don't forget the bread, arrived. Along with two tiny dessert looking bowls? They were empty and not sure what they were for. After a few minutes another server brought out my chicken tenders. The food was eh, I mean chicken tenders are chicken tenders really, though some noticeably better than others. These were not the better kind, but I get what I get. My dates shrimp she actually said was tasty, and the portion size very generous. Suprisingly generous. Her rice they were overtop of however was not the tastiest. The sweet potato's were fine, no complaints. Our original server (nor any of the others) ever came back to our table to ask us how our meal was, if we would like refills on the water, nothing at all. This is not a life I would want to wake up to day in/day out :( I probably shouldn't have, but I left a whopping one dollar tip here. As bad as the place is... what's a dollar? If you are in an emergency to eat and have no other choice... or if you really just like bland food (and potatos, lots and lots of potatos... and bread) than this IS the place for you! So it was birthday in that day we went to western sizzlin and there were bad things in that resturaunt. My dad's ribeye steak not not cooked and kept forgetting the order everybody's was good except my dad the service was good I had fries grilled cheese and chicken strips . my uncle got steak fries and a side of toast mine came with Texas toast too. but again they kept forgetting dads order which was just ribeye steak. Me and my mom went here for the first time in years, and the two blondes at the front desk were so unbelievably rude. At first they didn't even acknowledge us and then then were legitimately laughing and mocking us for not knowing what exactly we wanted ( we hadn't been there in years ) and it was just so unbelievably unprofessional and honestly unacceptable. Really awful service today. Granted, today is Mother's Day, and they were busy. However, when we arrived, a gentleman helped us with our beverages. He explained that another server would help us, however, he never showed. We waited nearly 40 minutes, and finally had to approach other members of the staff for refills and takeout containers. Review for western sizzlin 08.09.11 This place is off the beaten path a ways but it was still easy to access from US50. The parking seemed to be ok but a little packed in too much. Could have used wider parking spots. The area you first walked into could be spaced a little better and had both cash registers spaced further apart so the two cashiers could work more efficiently and there would be faster movement. They seemed to be ok at getting us in but seemed a little off for some reason. The décor was nice and the layout of the place was ok. We seated ourselves and were taken care of promptly. Our meals came to us very quickly. I ordered a sirloin with a baked potato. The sirloin did taste very watered down and it needed tons of A1 to make it edible. The baked potato was really good. I got sour cream and cheese from the baked potato bar. My husband got a chopped steak and he was satisfied with it. He also got a baked potato and he like it too and made it like I did. My mom just got a house salad. My sister got a junior version of the sirloin and hers came out too pink so she had to get a new one, it wasn't all that great either it was watered down like mine was. He mashed potatoes were too limpy and dry and the gravy didn't taste very good. All she wanted was regular brown gravy and this place does not have it. That made her upset and so was I. I am very sensitive to limput potatoes and I would not want to try those. I would prolly puke them up LOL. They had 3 kinds of lumps, dry limps, uncooked lumps, and unmashed lumps. LOL. I kinda gagged thinking about that! In order to fix out steaks we did request some seasoning, however it still didn't make it all that great. I would not get the steaks here. Our watress was ok and prompt but was very willing to correct the orders and even gave my sister some mashed taters to eat while she was wating for the corrected steak. Which was made too pink before. Overall I would give the place 3.5 stars. The resoning is that the steaks were watered down and that's the focal point of the place and the service, even though extremely prompt, wasn't very personal. The pricing was quite high for the lack of quality for the sirloin. Recommendation: good quick place for a baked potato and salad for lunch, or a cheap chopped steak, however the main course of the place leaves much to be desired. read more

I was so disappointed to find after we paid for our meal that the salad bar was gone. The salad bar is what brought people back time and again. They don't even offer a side salad with their meals unless you pay for it. Also, the ice cream bar that used to come with the meal was an extra $2.99. The price of the meals even went up. I don't think this restaurant will last long now. It's sad because their food tastes really good and their service is excellent, with the exception of the young lady at the register that acted like she had better places to be. A couple of other things, their chairs don't "scoot" on the floor. They're heavy and you have to lift them up to move them. I picked up the salt shaker and the salt was solidified. I got one from another table and the holes were filled with salt and wouldn't work. I even tried banging it on the table. I ordered beef tips medium and they were burnt. The handles on the spoons in the sour cream and butter were laying in the food. I had butter and sour cream on my fingers after I used them. Not very sanitary. This is another place that is good for the money.. If you get the potato and salad bar don't fill up on soup and salad other wise its almost to much food. I didn't even have enough room for my free dessert. Make sure you try the western sizzlin steak sauce its a little sweeter than A1 but similar. I'll be coming here again. read more

This was simply a delicious meal! The salad bar and baked potato bar were an added bonus! Friendly staff, clean dining area and restrooms, great food, and good prices! The salad bar was packed with salad items, cold pastas, simple desserts, and hot foods... including chicken wings, mac and cheese, and chili soup! The steak tips were absolutely amazing; tasting like or better than those one would get at a much higher end (pricier) steakhouse! We will be back! The amount of food served was large. my wife and son and i went to this stake house, sat nov, 26 2011 we did not have a good visit. First we had to wait in line for 13 min but there were on 3 people in ahead of us. we went to set down and they got our drinks wrong the salad was dry the stake was tough and the when they brought our food we told them we wanted stake sauce and kecthup we had to wait on it. the lady that took our order was on the phone personal and store phone. read more

Food and salad bar good but for some reason now they keep serving old, hard, cold, baked potatoes that have been sitting around for a LONG time. They used to have the best baked potatoes in town, have been very disappointed every time we go in the evening we are served these nasty potatoes,last visit everyone around us were complaining about them.
