We switched to WV a few years ago for our 3 furrkids due to our usual vet never taking appointments and the wait being hours for basic needs. We are able to make timely appointments and, sometimes, even the same day with an upcharge. The staff treats our pups like they are their own and have always been knowledgeable, professional, and compassionate towards our family. Dr. Veit, Dr. Sanchez and Dr. Pang are all amazing. We have done basic visits, urgent care visits and had surgeries for our pups here without any complications. It says something when our dogs happily walk into the vet without fear or hesitation. read more

We took our cat Olive here a few weeks back. Olive had a very high fever, lethargic.. it was scary. To be honest, I was thinking it wasn't going to be good and we were going to have to put her down. Was hesitant to come to this place for it hasn't received the best of reviews, yet my uncle recommended it. Took Olive in and was pleasantly surprised. Place was clean. Staff were extremely friendly. Doctor got to us in a timely manner. Treated Olive with love and care, like Olive was her own. They ran a bunch of tests... which yes, was pretty costly, but our little cat was worth it. I didn't feel they added on tests and medications for shits and giggles. I felt it was necessary and needed. I didn't feel like I was getting the run around. After two days of taking Olive there (one for tests and such, the other for follow up and extra fluids/meds), we took Olive home. I am very pleased to say Olive has fully recovered. The doctor even called few days later to follow up and check in. It showed care and love for my pet. All the negative reviews I saw were people who got bad results (ie having to put their pet down). Obviously this would upset you and I feel that these reviews were based solely on that, and not the actual treatment and staff of the hospital. With all this said, I would highly recommend this place if your pet needs care. We will be coming back if our pet needs anything. read more

I've been taking my dogs to this clinic for close to 10 years. And the service has gone way down. My dog has been suffering from horrible fleas and getting an appt has been very hard. I understand theyre busy. That's great. However when it came time for my dogs appt we were a little late due to a traffic accident and road closure. Once we arrived we're told they couldn't see him because of our tardiness. However we were also told by staff if we would've alerted them to us being late they would've accommodated us. I find this extremely unprofessional and passive aggressive. I will no longer be going to this clinic. read more

AMAZING!!!!! I'm so incredibly picky with vets because I want the best for my pup! Last November, my fiance and I noticed an infected hot spot on our dogs back/neck area. We freaked out and didn't know what to do! It was 6am and we rushed to see which vets were open. Fortunately, Western Vet was open at 7am and they were able to squeeze us in for a quick triage. Minnie, our husky, doesn't do well at vets. She's quite anxious but the techs were great with her! They calmed her down and was able to trim the hot spot area in less than 5 minutes. I was so worried that she would give them a hard time, but nope! Everyone gave us exceptional service from the receptionist, to the tech, and the vet! We were extremely impressed. Also great that we didn't have to wait a long time to be seen and this was WITHOUT an appointment. We were in and out in less than an hour! The meds the vet prescribed immediately helped Minnie's hotspots. I was so relieved. The ointment she prescribed lasted awhile too. It's great for dogs who frequently get hot spots. The next month we took her in for a medicated bath to treat her sensitive skin. They kept Minnie for almost the whole day and even walked her. I love that! Other groomers would keep your dog in a cage the whole time.. You can tell the workers here really care about your pets.. I see it the minute I walk in. Thank you for taking such good care of Minnie! I absolutely love this veterinary clinic. I have a senior kitty that they have been seeing for a few years now and they have always taken really good care of her. They are attentive and thorough and they make sure to check everything so we always know how she is doing. Each visit can be pricy since they run a full senior test panel for my kitty but it's worth the money for me. I fully recommend them if you're looking for an attentive vet for your pet. read more

Started using Western vet in 2008. The daily operations changed in 2013. When the operations changed in 2013 the customer service and caring attitude left the building also. The current manager and owner mistreated my 14 year old dog. They denied him help when he needed them the most. Imagine your dog is attacked and he needs medical care. When calling them the reply was to take him somewhere else? I received my dogs medical file from them and inside was written complaints about me the pet owner. They were upset I called them out on overlapping appointments. For many years I noticed they overlap appointments and say there is an "emergency". They actually wrote in my dogs medical file that I complained about waiting too long. Every time you go to this vet there will be an emergency that makes you wait 45 minutes past your scheduled appointment time. Worse is the fact my dog can't walk there himself and plop down his Visa card, my dog trust me to do these things for him. For these people to hate on me because of personality conflicts is unethical, my pet is the patient, don't you care about your patients? I am sure they will write some 20 page rebuttal, this is their style. The owner will side with management if you complain, yelp was my only source of relief. Picture is my dog bleeding and Western Vet telling me to not use my 12 year Vet but take him elsewhere. okay, take him somewhere else, transfer his medical records, meet new Vet, try to get a quick appointment somewhere. I like this place. I've brought my pets here for years The people here are nice and they are very helpful. The vets are great and always take care of my babies. My only issue is that they never have any appointments for the same week. They also never have anything after 4pm. So, if your working, well, too bad for your pet that needs to be seen. They will tell you to call in the morning to see if they can fit you in but then they charge you extra since its an "emergency" visit. The previous vet who owned the place never did that. Good people and service. We took our 8 weeks old puppy to get vaccination. It was fast and easily done. There was a slight miscommunication between the tech and vet but at the end, I'm glad that I had the record of what vaccinations he took on which date. Overall, it's very friendly business and relatively cheap compared to other vet hospital nearby (Redondo and Manhattan/Hermosa) they are a lot more expensive than here. read more

This used to be a great Veterinarian group, but have gone down fast. They do not do as promised. Refuse to answer when asked what they did. Are very very rude, for no reason. Apparently stressed and paranoid for unknown reaosons. I wondered why the parking lot used to be overflowing and now there are so few cars. Well, I found out. Wow!!! Best vet practice I've ever been to! I wish we came here sooner! The place is very clean and big with multiple exam rooms. I was amazed by how many people work here. There's several doctors, technicians, clerks, etc working at the same time. (So much better than the previous vet we went to which was basically a one man show)... They seem to have a very professional and organized system here, which I love! They even have a comfortable waiting area with free keurig coffee and cookies that you can enjoy while waiting. We brought our dog here for a regular checkup and some vaccines. We were seen by Dr. Mori who was really friendly and knowledgeable. She was very thorough in her exam, answered all our questions and we didn't feel rushed at all. The entire staff here is great! So happy to have found this vet for our cat, Leo. Leo had his first visit today to get an abscess checked which developed after a cat fight. We felt so welcomed and cared for from the moment we walked into the building. The receptionist helped to calm Leo by covering his crate with a towel as we waited in the reception area. And even though we were about 30 minutes early, we were taken into an exam room and seen before our appointment time. The vet tech and doctor were both so warm and helpful. As we waited in the reception area for Leo to get his abscess cleaned out, we were given updates as to how he was doing during the process. We couldn't ask for a better experience with a vet. Happy to know that we now have a trusted vet to go to when the time comes. read more

Dr. Lee KILLED my dog Leo. Leo was older with an excellent quality of life & healthy until Dr. Lee misdiagnosed him with seizures when he was actually experiencing minor & manageable syncopes every blue moon. When I notified Dr. Lee & I was ADAMANT that I believed these were syncopes based on what I witnessed, she ARGUED with me that they were seizures & prescribed seizure medication. Leo had a SEVERE reaction to the seizure medication & ALMOST DIED. While I was feeding him his breakfast he COLLAPSED on our kitchen floor & couldn't get up. There was blood in his mouth because he had hit his face on the floor. I rushed him back to Western Vet Group & Dr. Veit (& the cardiologist ) was able to confirm that he was in fact having syncopes NOT seizures. Dr. Lee NEVER ACKNOWLEDGED OR APOLOGIZED for the trauma that she put Leo through. Leo never fully recovered from the shock & the stress that the seizure medication put on his heart & HE PASSED AWAY WITHIN 2 1/2 MONTHS. Now, let's discuss Dr. Veit: PRO: She was able to properly diagnose & treat Leo after his severe reaction. CONS: GASLIGHTING - When she 1st entered the situation & Leo had ALMOST DIED from his reaction to the seizure medication, she kept telling me that "Dr. Lee wasn't wrong for diagnosing Leo with seizures". She said it multiple times until I politely told her to stop & focus on getting Leo better. As I look back on that particular vet visit, the RIGHT thing for Dr. Veit to do would've been to comp that entire visit because it was a direct result of Dr. Lee's mistake. I had to pay for a cardiologist to look @ Leo in addition to the other vet services for that visit. SUCH POOR TASTE. PESSIMISTIC - She has attitude that when your dog reaches a certain YOU SHOULD JUST GIVE UP. The dog will tell when it's time to let go, it's not her place to make that decision. As long as Leo was healthy, comfortable & happy ... THAT'S ALL THAT MATTERS. She should be more worried about helping pets live the longest & healthiest life possible. Every time I would speak to her, she was SO NEGATIVE. Which in turn makes me think, did she really do all she could've for Leo or had she already given up on him. A BIT NEGLIGENT: She didn't perform a thorough exam of Leo multiple times & I found out about it much later when I reached out about non-anesthetic dental options. According to her, Leo was being feisty & would not allow her to examine his mouth/teeth. The problem isn't that she didn't do it, THE PROBLEM IS THAT SHE DIDN'T SAY ANYTHING TO ME ABOUT NOT DOING IT (multiple times). I couldn't believe it & it really didn't click in her head about the importance of knowing what's going on with your dog's teeth. Just like the human body, EVERYTHING IS CONNECTED. I kept wanting to find a new vet but I was experiencing so many unexpected major life events @ once & IT WAS LITERALLY WEEKS from the time Leo had the severe reaction to the seizure medication til he had passed away. Leo's health deteriorating so rapidly. As, I'm writing this review it's been about 127 days since Dr. Veit sent us away to Emergency services & LEO DIED. She hasn't even bothered to reach out to me & check up on Leo or have a staff member reach out. This is the behavior of our family's vet??? DISGUSTING & TRIFLING. It's been a very unpleasant & traumatic experience being entirely alone in the fight for Leo's health & life. @ this point I'm letting go of all the pain & I WILL LET KARMA HANDLE Dr. Lee & Dr. Veit. read more

My cat Lily got a chemical burn on her face and we took her to urgent care where she received several medications. When we took her to see Dr Sanchez and I told her what happened, she refused to give Lily any more antibiotics or medicine of any kind to heal her. Instead, she insisted that Lily should be taken off her medicine so she can be tested for autoimmune disease of the skin. She said she needed a $785.00 biopsy and that she did not have a chemical burn. Even the attendant that brought Lily to us after cleaning her up that day said it looked like Lily had a chemical burn. However, two days later we took Lily to another veterinarian that my cat rescuer friend referred me to for a second opinion, and Lily was given an antibiotic and a cortisone shot that cost in total under $100.00. This veterinarian said that she didn't think Lily had autoimmune disease of the skin as she was beginning to heal on her own, and she did not recommend a biopsy at that time. Within three days of receiving the shot Lily's bumps were gone, her skin was completely smooth, and her hair was beginning to grow back. Lily has been perfectly healthy for over four months now. Our new veterinarian put Lily's health and well being ahead of recommending that we pay for an unnecessary biopsy. Dr. Sanchez refused to listen to us, and it feels to my husband and me that she just wanted to make money at Lily's expense. It is very disheartening for us, and we cannot recommend Dr. Sanchez to anyone. read more

When Dr Mike was there we loved his truly caring for our pets. Not any more. This clinic is only interested in how much they can squeeze out of every visit. There hasn't been one Vet there that didn't try to add tests that would have doubled our bill. Example: Teeth cleaning was verbally quoted at about $800. Than they emailed us a written estimate. It was $1500!! We have taken our dogs,4 Yorkies, since Dr Mike opened his doors on PCH. I don't think this is how he would have operated. They break down any cost options and treatment plans and they do not force or pressure their customers into services or treatment options. A very welcoming, friendly professional environment. I cant imagine how he must feel taking on so many patients who had Dr Mike. Very Tough shoes to fill and things will never be the same without Dr Z. I was told about this place by a few friends when I was in need of a vet a few years back. Over the past few years, I've taken 2 cats here for multiple issues, and even had to pull one down. My kitty was nearly 19, and medical intervention only goes so far when you're 140 in feline years. The doctors and staff, have always been helpful, friendly, understanding, and HIGHLY compassionate. They even sent me a sympathy card signed by all the staff and doctors when I had to put my little guy down. They also work with a great pet crematorium in SoCal if you're wanting to cremate your beloved 4 legged friend. There's multiple DVM's in the group, so getting an appointment has always been super easy, and with their long hours, it's great that I don't have to leave work early to get in for that last appointment of the day. The only drawback is their driveway location; not even the building, but the flippin' driveway. It's situated funny at the intersection across from Torrance Crossroads. It's very inconvenient if you're coming from north Crenshaw, and driving during peak hours. I ALWAYS have to drive down to Skypark and make a U-Turn at the bowling alley. If you're looking for a vet for the first time, or wanting to find a better one that the one you've got. Give this place a try. read more

Absolutely AMAZING veterinarian group! Dr Mayer, Wendy, and Kristin could not have been anymore welcoming, kind, knowledgeable, and professional. The facility is clean, comfortable, and calming for both humans and our fury friends. It was actually cleaner than a couple of medical offices I've had to use myself! Our dogs are truly part of our family, especially our sweet, old stray, Charlie. We brought Charlie to WVG for an appointment with Dr Mayer. The Dr immediately knew what was troubling her. After running a couple of tests to confirm her suspicions we were told Charlie had a life threatening uterus infection and needed emergency surgery. Dr Mayer and her team got right to work on Charlie while Kristin kept us laughing as she helped us put together the financials. Imagine that, using the word laughing in the same sentence as financials! If you can't laugh you'll surely cry! It just shows you how great Kristin is at her job! Like I said before, our dogs are truly part of our family and this whole ordeal was terribly traumatic for us. The WVG made the whole process as painless as they possibly could. They even took a picture for us of the mess that came out of our poor 9 pound dog! During our stay EVERY staff member was kind and strived to make us comfortable. Hands down the BEST veterinary group on the planet! Oh, one more thing for those of you who are impatient and have to wait a bit past your appointment time; remember our little Charlie, she surely would have died if Dr Mayer wouldn't have fit her surgery into her schedule and worked pasted her scheduled shift! If we ever have to wait past our appointment time I will happily do so knowing that this group has their priorities straight! read more

We have 2 cats & 2 dogs. We have used Western Veterinary exclusively for the past 8 years. Today, our 1 year old basset hound started throwing up and convulsing at home. Obviously, this was completely out of the norm so we called Western Veterinary to see when we could bring her in. They told us they couldn't see her until tomorrow, tomorrow?!?!!? Really??? They'd be happy to give us referrals, HUH?? I might understand if we were a new patient but not we're not! I doubt the late, great Dr. Mike would have treated us like this! We called Country Hills Animal Clinic and they said to bring her right up. She is still in with the doctor and hopefully she'll be OK. They have shown tremendous caring and have wonderful attitudes. We will NEVER bring any animal to such an uncaring veterinarian ever again! So disappointing! I wanted to leave no stars but Yelp wouldn't post it! read more

I am sorry to have to share this as I have been taking my dogs since the days before they moved (and were located on PCH in Lomita) and Dr. Mike was still with us (RIP Dr. Mike, you are missed), but those days are gone and I can't continue to support this practice. They are nothing more than sales with a license to practice Veterinary medicine! Everything is about upselling! Oh, your dog is due for their annual checkup but then they bring you a bill with 10+ items added that aren't necessary but they try and talk you into buying it all! It's thievery! They have taken away EVERYTHING this practice used to be and turned it into just another average veterinary office. I would rather drive 40 minutes to see a great Veterinarian! Edited to add: They are also not easy to access either. Appointments are difficult to make and access to the parking lot, although not their fault due to traffic from the new construction, is extremely difficult nonetheless. I can only imagine traffic will get worse rather than better in the near future. read more

They are so sincere and care. I sadly had to put my, almost, 6-year-old hedgehog (Mochi) to sleep. My regular veterinary clinic, Harbor Animal Hospital, wasn't able to because the exotic animal doctor wasn't in. So, they recommended me to Western Veterinary Group. I called and was able to make an appointment that day for her. I already knew and was heart broken because I've had her since we was 6 weeks old. I took one last picture with her before she was picked up and taken in to get looked over. They agreed with me that euthanasia was the best option for her. Hedgehogs in captivity live 4-6 years. So she was an old lady. The vet tech came out (we had to do everything over the phone and in our cars because of COVID-19) and gave me my options. I decided to get her cremated and get a mold of her paw print. 10 days later I get a call saying her ashes are ready to be picked up. I'm just expecting a little box and her paw print. A vet tech came out with a little wrapped package saying she was so sorry for my loss. There was so much more in that little package and meant so much to me. I was also sent a sympathy card in the mail from Western Veterinary Group that was signed by everyone and personalized. They really do care and it definitely shows. read more
