This place managed to upcharge my husband two expensive, unnecessary things. So unnecessary that our dental insurance covered 0%. We have good ins which covers 80% of surgery. For our dental insurance to not cover any of the cost, it is obviously not necessary. Had I heard what they were suggesting I would have immediately said NO to both. 1) Blood platelets to patch the incision sites. For $350. People have had oral surgery for decades without this. I just had oral surgery a year ago without this and it wasn't even suggested by my surgeon. 2) IV antibiotics and Advil for $223. Pills would have cost a fraction, and he had to take pills after the surgery anyway. I think it's messed up that doctors do this. It was my first time to see dr westernoff. And for what service? EXTRACTION! I had an unpleasant experience with my previous dentist before, so i came so anxious. BUT HE IS SO AMAZING AND HIS STAFF AS WELL. THEY MADE ME FEEL SO COMFORTABLE. They put me To sleep and the next thng i knw, the surgery was over!!!! THEYRE VERY CARING, they made sure you had all those apparatuses attached to ur body to make sure that everythings gona go well. It was my very first time to be sedated so i was so nervous i might die in sleep!!! But they assured me that everything was gonna be ok. They even contacted my relative personally to make sure that ill get picked up on time and they made sure that he was present while discussing about tooth extraction aftercare. I felt a very very little pain when i came home, my face didnt even swell, i was able to eat soft foods after 8 hrs of surgery. Mind you, soft real food and not liquid. Dr. Westernoff called me personally 2 hrs later the surgery to make sure that i was doing okay. Im so happy i didnt have to go through another dental nightmare again. I can't say enough about Dr. Westernoff. I came to him ro extract a bad tooth before major joint surgery. CAUTION: DO NOT TRUST THIS DOCTOR. In 2012 I had a molar break. I went to see his neighbor who referred me to him. They convinced me that I needed a crown on the molar, after I requested the tooth be extracted. They said they couldn't extract it because the molar above would "keep on growing until it hit tooth" which turns out to be medically not true. In order to complete the crown (at a dental office next door to his) they would have to take out 4 wisdom teeth, that had come in perfectly well. Against my better judgement they convinced me to remove 4 wisdom teeth in order to save a broken molar. Two of the wisdom teeth extractions never properly healed and despite my returning to Westernoff to fix it, which meant him taking his scalpel and cutting it open again. It took three years to heal and still hurts to this day. Here is the kicker. THE CROWN BROKE OFF 2 YEARS LATER! This is a message that is LONG overdue!! I broke my jaw on a Thursday night and was sent to the ER at Providence St. Mary. The emergency department staff there was phenomenal; however, the only OMF surgeon was on call that night and decided to not come in... the next day on Friday he decided to not come in again. I was in a panic, as were my parents, so they decided to reach out to my dentist from back home (in Chicago). He made a few phone calls to try to get in touch with anyone willing to help. Dr. Westernoff was out of the office and already enjoying his Friday night with his family when he still made the time to take a phone call regarding my jaw! He saw me first thing Monday morning when his office opened and I was in surgery by Tuesday. He is the most dedicated surgeon who took the time to explain the process to me and to my family, and even checked in on me to see how I was recovering and if any medication changes needed to be made! Not only was he diligent and caring but his staff was sooo sweet and made me feel so safe throughout the entire procedure and recovery process. Dr. Westernoff is great! I was anxious about my wisdom teeth removal, especially going under due to anesthesia and the stories I heard about people not waking up afterwards, but he reassured me and let me know the odds of that really happening are absurdly low. Like 1 in 870,000 (somewhere around there). During the process, him and his team did a great job of keeping me relaxed and joked around with me to keep me at peace. Next thing I know, I'm done and all 4 of my wisdom teeth (1 of them incredibly close to a sensory nerve) were removed successfully and no damage was done! The surgery went great basically. Afterwards, they let me rest in a side room and gave me a soft bristle tooth brush to help me with my mouth and some sanitizer and gauze pads for all the bleeding! Nice! I'm excited for my check up with him and his team again bc they've been a great bright group of people to interact with bc of their charisma and kindness. read more

I promised to write this review if things went well; you can see things went very well. I went in for the typical wisdom tooth extraction, all 4, and because I have never been put under I was absolutely terrified (ask anyone at the office I was terrified). Dr. Westernoff even told me mine was a difficult situation but he had all the confidence in the world. As I'm in the surgery room ready to have a heart attack and dreading the doctor telling me to count backwards he simply starts having a conversation with me to calm me down. He asked what do I like to do when I'm not in school and the next thing I know I am in the recovery room, things are a little fuzzy, then all of a sudden I am at my house watching a movie. AND he even calls you a few hours later to check up on you! Talk about service! Do not remember anything before or in between, literally "what do you like to do for fun?" then I'm magically in my house. The BEST part was, I never had to use the strong pain killers! Only ibuprofen (minimal amount) for a few days, barely swole up. Definitely worth whatever price you have to pay. The GREATEST experience ever. Dr. Westernoff is beyond amazing and if I had to ever go back for anything (I probably would still be scared) I know he would do a great job. Would give 10 stars if possible. A promise is a promise. Dr. Trent Westernoff completed my wisdom tooth and 1 molar extraction which were destroyed from the way my wisdom tooth came in and biopsy my molar and bone grafting. Boom! Got me in , extracted a molar and wisdom tooth, went home. Mind you, I am not a fan of dental work of any kind, even a cleaning so this was mentally way off the charts for me. I brought my 7 year old daughter to Dr. Westernoff for an impacted tooth extraction. She was very nervous about the procedure. From the initial consultation to the day of the procedure, he was very comforting to her and made her feel at ease in the office. I highly recommend Dr. Westernoff for wisdom teeth removal of extraction. Dr. Westernoff is a skilled oral surgeon, put you in ease, making his patient feel like he or she is in good hand. Recently I have two wisdom teeth removed. I had it done under local anesthesia. The nurses there are knowledgeable. I do recommend get the medications prescribed by Dr. Westernoff right after the surgery. The first two days made me uncomfortable, especially the first day right after the surgery. I was anxious about the bleeding and the amount of time I needed to bite to control the bleeding. Then I took the antibiotics and pain medications PRN. No complications afterwards. Dr. Westernoff extracted a couple of my teeth and it went well. He explained the procedure to me and made me feel comfortable.

I had an implant that went bad (my one and only implant). Dr. Westernoff removed the implant and put in bone graft. The process was painless and my recovery was quick. Three months later Dr. Westernoff inserted a new implant. Once again the procedure was painless and my recovery was quick (I only needed ibuprofen for two days afterward). Dr Westernoff removed my impacted wisdom tooth today. I kept it into my 50's but finally it had to go. I had local anesthetic at his recommendation and he did such a fine job I didn't even need over the counter pain killers after the anesthetic wore off. 8 hours later and honestly I could forget it was even done.
