This is a cross between a dive and a smarmy spot! Infrastructure is showing but have relatively new tables and chairs, while the walls are adorned with a mixture of local art, kitchen art, and photos of locals visiting. Parking can be treacherous if they are busy. This is cash only, but they have an ATM conveniently located inside. Beware the menu! The senior specials cost more than the equivalent on the regular menu (I will attach photo of this). I got number 2 with kielbasa. Eggs fine, potatoes non-remarkable. Scrambled eggs with cheese peachy. You have to ask for jelly, doled out in those little packets. Cream and ketchup come in little plastic round portions. The kielbasa came cooked black and swimming in grease. The signs of COVID dividers remain on the ceiling. Service was quite friendly. Locals of all types are easily spotted here. So, I would say this place is a cross section of America, hitting in between extremes.

I've been driving past here since I moved to Gardner. Finally got to stop this morning after getting blood drawn at Heywood Hospital(fasting!) It always looked busy when I drove down by. So first the negatives. It's noisy but most breakfast cafes are. Not self seating, no biggie. The flatware is incredibly cheap. No WiFi again no big deal. The prices seem steep for breakfast foods, however ... Now the good news. Omg greeted immediately by friendly owner. Coffee was good and piping hot. I ordered the 3 egg omelet I mean how can you make an omelette with only 2 eggs! But let me tell you next time I'll only order a 2 egg one! It came out quickly and was stuffed with corned beef hash and cheese. I asked for extra crispy home fries and they were! It was hot and delicious. I'll be back I'm sure.

The house special omelette, soooooo much food...

My boyfriend, 1 year old daughter & I came in to try the food as we were staying less than 10 mins down the road at Great Wolf Lodge. The pecan rolls & corn fritters were amazing!!! Especially dipped in the maple syrup! We got a kids chicken tenders & fries which was a great portion! Fish & chips & teriyaki steak tips with fries. We were starving after swimming all day and ate every bit because of how great all the food was. Nice beers to choose from & I had a yummy pomegranate marg. They were so accommodating of our overtired toddler as well. Thank you to our server Cera for doing a great job! When we're in the area, we will definitely return. We almost didn't come here because the reviews didn't all look great but we are SO glad we tried it! If you have a good experience here definitely urging you to leave a nice review (: Also love the ambiance of downstairs with cozy tables , warm lighting and the nice fireplace. The sign says Fish Market & Chowder Company, but what you walk into is 95% restaurant, 5% "technicality fish market," and that last 5% is doing the kind of work that would make a union rep cry. Let's be clear: The Angler is no longer selling fresh seafood. Not in any meaningful, market‑based, "take this home and cook it" way. What they are selling is the idea of a fish market -- the ghost of one -- while running a packed dining room full of people slurping oysters like it's a Cape Cod tourist trap in July. And speaking of tourist traps: They've got a tour bus parked outside. A tour bus. For a "local fish market." That's like seeing a stretch limo outside a Dollar Tree -- you immediately know something is off. As a chef, my time is valuable. As a food reviewer with an actual show, my time is documented. And nothing ticks me off faster than false advertising dressed up as nostalgia. If you've abandoned the fresh fish counter because the restaurant side makes more money? Fine. But update your signage. Update your branding. Stop wasting people's gas and goodwill. I walked in looking for fresh haddock. What I got was wall‑to‑wall oyster eaters and not a single square foot dedicated to what the sign promised. You can get oysters anywhere. You cannot get a proper local fish counter everywhere -- and certainly not in a space this cramped. If ownership wants to reach out and explain the pivot, I'm open to it. I'll even give them a redemption arc on one of my platforms. But right now? This new direction is the wrong fit for the location, the footprint, and the legacy they're trading on. Call me when you're ready to rebuild. I'll help. But today? Today was a misstep -- and an avoidable one.

Called and explain the issued and asked for a refund of only the difference in cost between the two. Even offered to send a picture of what we received. Sadly, the manager kept arguing the receipts shows baked stuffed shrimp, as if we were lying, and hung up on us. Called back and she agreed to refund the difference. BIG SURPRISE...no refund!!! Poor way to treat customers and conduct business.
