Tried to make an appointment for my 3 year old dog. The lady at the front desk said they need to have her medical records sent to them for them to review and then they will call us to set an appointment. I offered to send her vaccination history since that is the only time she's really been to the vet in the last 3 years because she's been healthy but she said that wasn't sufficient & that they need me to call my old vet and have all medical records sent over. Talked into a blood test for $80 for my dog, as I'm walking out, they did not tell me the results, I had to ask, of course it came out perfect. Total bill was $500, they made me feel like they were doing me a favor, because the bill was only $500. The girl stated oh I told the Dr that you were having problems with your air conditioning, like we were morons, so does that mean they would've talked me into more. 20 years, with several pets, and my husband upset about a double charge on our bank account, so he called was laughed at, and then told that our pets/dogs are no longer wanted, because he got loud with them. Pathetic, to say the least. Now what with our dogs, their files, if they get sick, have to start all over agin. Very professional business, and it's actually downright scary! Never again. Wow. After more than 20 years of going to this vet at two locations on Hwy. 50, and never having skipped an appointment and always paying promptly, they now (last few months) want to charge me a $100 "reservation" fee to see my two cats. When I asked about the policy--which they never informed me of via mail, email, text, or phone--the front office said that they needed to collect the fee as a monetary safeguard because of people who didn't show up for their appointments. I have two problems with that. First, I don't appreciate being punished or penalized or inconvenienced or made to feel irresponsible by mistakes other people have made. I have never blown off an appointment. Their policy does allow for your down payment to be subtracted from the final bill, but that leads me to the other problem. Why should I be expected to give them $100 to sit on for 3, 4, 5, 6 weeks or more while I'm waiting for my appointment? I have better things to do with my money than to turn it over to a business when no service has been rendered. When I explained my concerns to the office, they basically told me their hands were tied. Evidently, the practice merged with another and is now part of a corporation, so they can effectively hide behind the excuse that the down payment is a "policy" that they have no control over. So, in an effort to stave off financial losses, they ruin a relationship with a loyal customer (ex) and lose out on earning $300 - $500 from my visit with two cats. Seems very short-sighted to me. I suggested that they take a customer's credit card number, and then if that customer blows off an appointment, charge them at that time. Not weeks or months before being seen. They might want to ask themselves WHY people are blowing off appointments in the first place. Is it because they don't want to be judged for how they raise their pets? Is it because their prices are too high? Is it because people are struggling to put food on the table. Let's see: feed the kids or pay excessively high prices for pet care? Additionally, putting political signs on your business property is a sure-fire way to tick off about half of your clientele, and that's a conservative estimate. Not a good idea. The policies of your endorsed candidates are why people are struggling to put food on the table. Yesterday, I called three other vets in my area. Not one of them requires a deposit/down payment, so I'm done with Westosha Vets. They have no loyalty, so why should I? Unfortunately, for them, I have been telling every pet owner I know about this place and why they might want to avoid it. Your office should be ashamed of yourselves. You're no longer interested in primarily helping pets. It's all about the money. read more

very dissatisfied. vet recommended "Synergy" for flea/tick/heartworm prevention. My one and two year old pups had nothing but ticks on them this summer Even as I used the meds diligently. Was informed after they're regular visit for vaccinations this fall they both have Lyme disease. my 4.6 lb little chi has to be on antibiotics . So after spending over $700.00 that week there, and charging me for synergy, they tell me that SYNERGY, doesn't really work for ticks! are you kidding me! So I was able to trade it for Symperica trio, for $30.00 a pill! I find out chewy has 3/ pills $54.00 free ship. Unbelievable how this place reccomends a shit product,nickle and dimes the customer! I am a new client. From the time I called to make an appointment, to the time I walked out of the exam room, I had a good experience with this clinic. The receptionist was friendly when I called to check in from the parking lot and I was greeted as kindly when I walk through the door. The vet tech came out to get me and said hello and then greeted my puppy. She was very knowledgeable, she took her time to understand my visit and treated my puppy very kindly. When the vet came into the exam room I expected to rush through the rest of the visit but, the veterinarian was just as attentive and took her time to ensure a quality exam. She asked questions and then educated me on vaccines and how dog food effects their health. Because I have a new puppy, she helped me with making a decision on dog food brands. When my puppy was getting his shots, the vet tech provided him with a silver platter smeared with dog food to distract him. Overall this is a very nice clinic, it's beautiful and the employees are kind, attentive and don't make you feel like you are just another customer they need to get in and out of the door. DO NOT ever take you animals to Westosha Animal Hospital off of 50!!! They almost killed my dog... literally. They sedated him WAYYY to much ot took him 2 days to come out of it and he was treated as a 71lb dog and he is 77lb. They charged me $536 then he was projectile shitting EVERYWHERE and it turned into straight blood!!! They told me to fix it the estimated me at $236. I DONT THINK SO!!! I took him to Linertyville and he was fixed up within a night. Not to mention... I had to CALL THEM TO GET MY DOG BACK!!!! HE WAS READY FOR 2 HOURS!!! And I'm NOT the only one with this problem. Well I was a customer there for six or so years. Has anyone ever noticed how they go thru veterinarians? I realized that customer service left the building when I was talking to the vet who just saw my pet when the owner told me that her vet was "past her appointment time" . The owner also makes it seem like she is doing you a favor for seeing your pet? ( I thought I was paying for a service). Also after making a few phone calls I found out that she is was not in the "normal price range" for the area on most things.I guess the best way to put it..... $$$$$$ WOW! After a misshap with my dog, he needed 5 staples to close up a cut on his leg. I was fine with the charges for the service that he was given. We were told to come back in 3-5 days to check his wound and bandage. We were charged $68 for this quick check. I would have assumed that this was covered in the surgery charges. The vet decided to omit telling me about an abnormal lab value. I took my dog to another vet to have the lab redrawn to evaluate if still elevated. It was. It was the start of an autoimmune disease flair up that caused muscle wasting in his face causing him not to be able to eat any longer. Needless to say, I'm glad I took him to another vet. My judgment would compel me to rate this subject zero stars. However, the minimum rating available is 1 star. Hence, one star. Reluctant but compelled to give a poor/low rating. Over nearly 40 years of dog ownership and use of vets for ten canines, one can cultivate standards and expectations for comparing good and bad professionalism and judgment. This subject fails compared to all others given subject's: 1. Arrogance ad hubris insulting owners and their pets. Refusing either to communicate or listen. 2. Disdain and contempt for other vets and top notch professional breeders and their opinions and services. 3. Alteration and incorrect entry of our canine's medical records. 4. Dispensing of incorrect medications and Heartgard doses. 5. Facetious responses and derogatory comments to communications. 6. Perfunctory examination and assessment of patients. 7. The compromise of professional judgment given conflicts pushing dog food and products. 8. Time is short to continue this list. There are plenty of other vet clinics and services in the area and beyond who are far superior and exercise professionalism. Use any alternative instead. read more

Being a vet means you are doing it for the right reason. Being a vet means helping animals in NEED... would you say I got that from this vet? I would say 100% NO ! ! ! They were able to help figure out what was causing my one pup's extreme itchiness where 2 other docs failed. He's a new doggo since beginning treatment and we are so grateful. First review ive ever had to do on any business in any capactity. Good experience here for the past several years bringing all of our family pets. This visit was anything but. We brought our 9 year old Black Lab/Border Collie mix in to have his teeth evaluated for a cleaning, upon that inspection they had stated while they had him under anesthesia for his teeth cleaning they would be able to "easily" remove 3 of his largest Lipomas (these 3 were tennis ball sized if not larger) which we argeed to before they would start impacting his movement. Everything was all well, dropped him off for his appointment and reviewed at check in with the tech what we were doing today, even pointing out the same 3 specific limpomas we wanted removed (he has several but these 3 were large and bigger than all the others by a large margin). Upon picking him up we noticed they removed 5 limpomas only one of which being one we reguested and they decided to leave the other 2 largest ones. One of thier several excuses was that he was under for 2 hours, my point would be why we wasted time removing 4 dime sized limpomas rather then focusing the ones we agreed on. Then Dr. Lux went in to say they didn't remove the larger ones as they "couldn't see them", again one is the size of a tennis ball and the other closer to a softball? Couldn't see that? Great quality in a surgeon is poor eyesight. Dr. Lux then said there must have been a miscommunication as she was never told there were specific limpomas we were looking to be removed. I find that a little scary as we shouldn't really be having "miscommunications" when we're doing surgery. After becoming aggrevayed with my questioning of what was done Dr. Lux stated she's too far into her career to be arguing, they credidited my account $150 and asked we go to another vet. There was no professionalism from Dr. Lux what so ever. Recommend going else where but if your going to bring your family here I'd at least request a sit down with the surgeon prior to surgery to make sure we are all on the same page. I do respect the loyalty to thier employees though, after the way I was treated by Dr. Lux I was very suprised that I was requested to change vets. read more

We have two Australian Labradoodles that we bring to Westosha Veterinary Hospital. We have had only good experiences here. Both our boys suffer from severe allergies. We did have to go to a specialist for a complete diagnosis but since then Westosha has been taking care of our boys when things flare up. All of the staff is very friendly and you can tell that the doctor and techs all love animals. One other review mentioned having to go to an emergency facility after hours. Unfortunately this is the case with most vet clinics. I don't know of any in my area that have after hour emergency care. We know where the nearest one is just in case we should happen to have an emergency. Overall, I would recommend Westhosa Veterinary Hospital. We are very satisfied with their services. read more

Westosha Veterinay has been a wonderful switch for me. I first came to them when I found a kitten on a farm and decided to keep her. The staff took good care of her, and even called to check on her progress after her surgery. I recently had a major concern with an older cat, and when I called up to see about getting an appointment, they offered to let me drop her off the same day to get blood work done. The cat was on her feet again by the time I picked her up a few hours later, and has been doing great since then. (This is not an emergency location, so would not expect same day appointment to be available all the time; I think I just got lucky that day!) The employees and technicians at the office are doing a great job, and Dr. Lux especially has been wonderful in treating my pets. I absolutely recommend this location. read more

I took my cat in at 4:10 because she was puking all day. The vet never even examined her. She was brought in for an X-ray and a blood test. The vet came in and out of the exam room with very little information. Dr. Lux was very rude and had no empathy for my cat or me. The last time she came in, she said she had no idea what was wrong and told me to take my cat home. They lied about the anti nausea medicine and said it was a sedative when I got a second opinion before hand that told me it wasn't. She told us since it was almost closing time that she couldn't look further into it and told me to leave. $365 later, my cat passed away 2 hours later. This is NOT a vet you should bring your sick pet to. She was very disrespectful and unconcerned. I recommend that no one should bring their pet to this facility. read more

We absolutely LOVE these doctors and this veterinary hospital! They are amazing! Dr. Thelan and Dr. Lux are the best! We moved here from California with 2 cats 14 years ago, one with a HUGE medical file that we had sent prior to our arrival. He was our miracle kitten that we bottle raised but he had a lot of medical issues throughout his 18 years. They helped us navigate through some tough times and they were there with us at the very end of his life almost 3 years ago. They were very caring and considerate when we had to say goodbye to him. Dr. Lux has done genetic testing on my cat, one of the ones we got since losing the 2 we moved here with. Her breed is predisposed to a medical condition. She researched the testing and sent for the test kit, and tested Isabella just to put my mind at ease. Dr. Thelan saved my sister's cat when she had an allergic reaction to an ingredient in a product that prevents pets from biting/licking. It took many visits to get it under control and even a specialist but we still have Chloe with us to this day thanks to them! I would never take my furry babies ANYWHERE else but to Westosha Veterinary Hospital. They are kind and caring. The entire staff is the best staff ever! We can call them and they always have a spot to fit us into for an emergency. ONE OF THE BEST PLACES TO TAKE YOUR PET. I would recommend them to everyone I know. read more

Terrible customer service. The elderly ladies in the front desk are extremely rude and anything I asked from them seemed like a daunting task. My dog was very sick and after spending tons of money for tests and xrays they were unsuccessful in determining the issue. They didn't seem like they took the time to do their job or care enough to go that extra step. All they want is your money and couldn't care less about your furry friends.
