Okay, where to start? We pulled into Roadkill 66 Cafe drawn by the name, of course we checked Yelp and read about it and Lilo's across the street and our group decided on Lilo's - we are stuffed to the gills and all have happy 'ready for a nap' smiles on our faces. We started with clam chowder (New England) and it was mediocre. Tasted more like plain potato soup with carrots. There were plenty of clams but just no flavor. Then on to chicken fried steak and open faced roast beef sandwich, both were clear winners. The portions are HUGE and we all agreed they were both excellent, the roast beef was a big thick homemade slab, although the chicken fried steak (a first for all four of us) was maybe a smidgen better. We finished with the really lemony, lemon meringue and thought that too, was top notch. The decor is great, I guess how Rt66 was years back and it is super clean. The wait staff are friendly, fast and efficient as is the food, no waiting around here. Can't imagine how the competition could be any better but we can highly recommend Lilo's! read more

Was passing through the town of Seligman, AZ and decided to stop at this cafe. At the time we arrived they were quite busy, but the waitress and kitchen staff seemed to be well coordinated. Our drink orders were taken promptly, the waitress was attentive to our individual menu picks and our food arrived hot and in a reasonable amount of time. This place is awesome. Me and my two friends stopped by to eat passing through AZ. We absolutely loved the food, the service, and the atmosphere. Larry who was our server had impeccable guest service and we were blown away at how well he took care of us. This place makes you feel at home and it's also very clean which is nice. Not a lot of places to eat in between Williams and Kingman, but we took a chance and stopped here for dinner and we were pleasantly surprised! I stopped by Wednesday afternoon with 15 boy scouts, having just climbed out of the canyon. We were dirty, hungry, and tapped out on cash from having bought about 100 Indian Fry Bread in the canyon. We could not have found a better place to eat and relax. Our waitress, Erica, was just about the nicest person I have ever met, and probably the best waitress on the planet. She took us under her wing, got us all fed with very confusing separate check requests, and could not have been nicer or more professional. I have had a lot worse service in many, many nicer places. And the food? Amazing. I had the chicken-fried steak and eggs (at 2 in the afternoon) and it was one of the best I have ever had, and I order it everywhere. Incredible. The boys ran the gamut from burgers to salads, and everything was perfect. I want to go to Seligman again just to revisit Westside Lilo's! read more

Like most of the places I try out to eat I found this one on yelp and to be honest I was very disappointed. From the moment we sat I felt like more of a hindrance then a paying customer. The service took a while, was misinformed about the soup of the day, lack of info about specials or the dessert options. As for the food my salad was full of blackened leaves and after waiting for a while for his meal, my dads fries were undercooked/hard and still glistening with fryer grease. What was also off putting was the waitress eating her own lunch off of the prep counter while also working, cleaning the tables and setting the tables. I've eaten at Lilo's 3 times in 18 months, each time has been worse than the last. I ordered breakfast to go earlier this week (11/27/2012) and was disappointed to find the meal was incomplete and having to return to the restaurant to get the literally rock hard biscuit and gravy, the portion was small especially for the price I paid. Of the three meals from Lilo's the first was dine-in and very good, the second was to go and good but very small portions of hash brown and the toast was burnt, the third was very disappointing as mentioned. I wouldn't mind paying for a good meal and Lilo's does have some good food, but I do take issue with paying a premium for rock hard biscuits and small portions. I feel as though maybe the locals get served properly but if they think your just passing through they can short your order since they won't be seeing you again. I pass through Seligman three to five times a month, I won't be stopping at Lilo's again.......EVER! My advice is pass on Lilo's and go someplace where they treat you like a valued customer. Although the staff is pleasant enough my experience the second and third time has convinced me to go to the next exit and order from Subway! read more

Place is in the middle of nowhere and there are maybe two places to choose from to eat at in this town. Yelps were better here so this is what we chose. The menu is not very exciting. Standard American fare. We weren't too hungry so we chose to split a veggie burger. The burger was surprisingly good. Not sure if it was house made or not (can't remember if it said so on the menu), but it definitely was above average. Baked goods looked yummy here so we chose what was essentially a strawberry shortcake to share. Cake fell down. It was way too dry and didn't have much flavor. However, some of their other baked items looked much better including some cinnamon buns that were the size of serving platters. We saw these on the way out and wish we had ordered one to go. If you're looking for food on I-40 between Flagstaff and Kingman, you'll probably end up in Seligman, with its two (count em, two) restaurants* to choose from. And if you're looking for vegetarian food, you're probably not going to choose the one called The Roadkill Cafe. Which brought us to Westside Lilo's. Oh happy day! Our waitress was calm and solicitous, and enthusiastic about telling us the stories behind the food, which was quite refreshing for a bitty little roadside diner. The black-bean veg burger was awesome, nice texture and slightly spicy. I had mine plain with a side of sweet potato wedges (8.95), the boy had it Southwestern style (cheddar-jack + green chili) with hand-cut fries on the side. This place specializes in giant sugary items, like pie and cinnamon buns the size of hubcaps. There were fried zucchini and some other non-meat items on the menu, but the main veg items are the burgers, some breakfast burritos and stuff, a bit of salad, and various excellent potato items. We were first thinking of ordering the veg-friendly breakfast burritos with "those potatoes" -- home fries with onions and something else, sounds great -- but no. Our waitress patiently explained exactly why the burritos were available after 11 a.m., but not the potatoes (grilling temperatures). While we waited for our burgers she brought us the local "newspaper" -- 3 sheets of typing paper stapled together -- which contained a synopsis of 2009's major news stories around Seligman. (In March, a guy from New Mexico tried to drive off without paying for his gas. Scandalous!) In all, it was a fun and worthy stop, with great service (They filled up my water bottle on the way out!) and a nice view into the life of a tiny town. * Okay, there's also a pizza place and tourist-trap cafe that looked scary. AMAZING. We were recommended to this place by the front desk at the Grand Canyon Caverns Inn. We were a group of 8 hikers that had just finished the Havasupai hike up, and we were HUNGRY. And I mean, HUNGRY. I think between all 8 of us, we ordered most of everything on the menu. The portion sizes were generous, and the food was absolutely delicious. I personally ordered a 1/2 lb burger, and my hubby got the Jaeger Schnitzel. Delicious. Lilo actually came out and talked with our table for awhile. Any diner can be hit by an unexpected rush or an unplanned personnel shortage. But: ...a well-run establishment would have warned us of the situation before we ordered. This lunch-stop nearly ruined our travel itinerary for the day. We needed a quick lunch, not an hour-long ordeal. Should i ask: "will it be 50 minutes to receive my lunch?" At this place, I guess you had better ask. Nobody warned us. Any establishment this close to the freeway should better understand its clientele (many of whom are trying to reach the grand canyon, possibly to check in with grand canyon staff to pick up hiking permits by a certain deadline). Unless you can risk being off the road for an hour or more, you should be careful about stopping here. read more

I am quite surprised by all the glowing reviews of this place. We stopped here based on all the reviews from Yelp. I am not sure why people are really into it. We stopped here on our way back to Vegas from the Grand Canyon. We had stopped at another restaurant on the way over, and we decided to give this place a try on the return route. We saw all the glowing newspaper reviews, and all of them mentioned the pie. Ok, we gotta try the pie. But first, we dine! I had the buffalo chicken sandwich. I have had many versions of this very sandwich, and this was extremely disappointing. It tasted just like something you would get from Hooters. It was dripping in what was obviously Franks Hot Sauce, the chicken was meh, and the bun was meh. The potato salad was runny. Let me repeat: It was runny. Potato salad can be light or heavy with the mustard and/or mayo based mixture, but it should never be runny. Yuck! However, the biggest disappointment was the pie. I thought this was supposed to be homemade. There is NO WAY this was homemade. We got the chocolate cream pie, and the filling tasted like a chocolate marshmallow mixture...very strange texture. The crust was a processed, oversized Oreo cookie, and the topping...oh, not good. This was a real disappointment, and both my wife were scratching our heads...maybe they just don't make a good lunch/dinner. Perhaps we should have just gone there for breakfast. The long drive on I-40 West doesn't offer much in the way of good dining options. Basically, gas station, gas station, 18-wheeler, roadkill, field, rest stop with vending machine. "Oh look, I exclaimed, what is that low-slung derelicte village down yonder!?" With that, we pulled off in Seligman in hopes of getting some gas and maybe finding a snack. A quick drive up and down the main drag in Seligman revealed an unsurprising glut of choices and we were not resigned to eating microwave burritos from the gas station, so Lilo's seemed like a good choice. The German flags flying proudly outside piqued my interest as we entered, and Lilo's does present a nice choice for good diner-type fare when you're in a jam. Upon entering, it seemed that a handful of "locals" were sitting down eating lunch (they seemed very familiar with the wait staff), and we were greeted warmly. The restaurant itself is cozy with a small souvenir shop selling Seligman/Route 66-related tchotchkes. The menu presents a varied offering of diner fare including burgers, sandwiches, etc. I went for a burger with curly fries on the side, which was great. The food was fresh and service was friendly. It was interesting to see the huge taxidermies on the wall and all the business cards on the wall near the bathroom of Germans who had stopped through. (I assume Lilo is German, though the fare here is decidedly not.) Lilo's is another valid and very interesting choice and I'm glad we stopped in Seligman to find this pleasant little restaurant. read more

I always go out of my way to stop at Westside Lilo's when I'm passing thru western Arizona. Lilo's is a perfect pit stop for breakfast (I haven't tried their dinner, but I hear it's great). The portions are hearty and the food is good. I would have given one more star, but the food was not up to par when I was there this week. The people in this place are all so truly caring and thoughtful. We had some dietary limitations and they worked tirelessly to make sure we had something to eat. Everything was delicious, especially the generous and fresh fruit plate and the amazing potatoes. What a nice surprise in the middle of NO WHERE'S VILLE! My husband had the pork green chili nacho's, they were huge and delicious. I had the taco salad which was also very good, but the best part...CARROT CAKE. OMG, I don't even care for carrot cake, but it was my husband's birthday and they brought out a piece (the size of the plate!) and it was truly the best carrot cake we had ever had and it's one of my husband's fav's. We randomly wandered in here after trying to debate between Lilo's and the Roadkill Cafe across the street. I am so glad we decided on Westside Lilo's! My boyfriend ordered the chicken fried steak, and I had the tuna melt. They were both very tasty. In fact, all the dishes coming out of the kitchen looked pretty good. We also shared a piece of chocolate cake, and it was very, very good. Not the best I've ever had, but pretty close. Fun atmosphere, cool pictures and stuff to look at everyone, and love that it's German. My only complaint is that it took FOREVER for our food to come out. It wasn't that busy (Monday at around lunch time), but from the time we ordered to when we got our food was at least 1 hour, 15 minutes of waiting. And there was a family sitting next to us who waited even longer for their meals. Not that great if you're on a road trip like we were, and trying to make decent time to the Grand Canyon. read more

A friend and I stopped here en route to the Grand Canyon. Cute place, with a little gift shop filled with Route 66 paraphernalia. Our waitress was super friendly and attentive, and enjoyed teasing my friend and I. She warned us that the servings were large and implied we would be better off sharing, so of course I took that as a challenge. We shared the ribs (with mac and cheese) and fried chicken (with mashed potatoes), and then split a piece of chocolate cream pie for dessert. Everything was delicious, but a couple of things to note: - the portions are ENORMOUS. I finished my half, but probably only because I was starving and hadn't really eaten all day while on the road. - the batter on the fried chicken was divine. I don't know how they did it, but I've never enjoyed fried chicken so much. - gravy on the mashed potatoes was rich and delicious All in all felt like the all-American experience and an excellent stop while on a road trop. I usually like to try the Chicken Fried Steak when I first go to a new restaurant, kinda let's me know where they stand. I have to say, Westside Lilo's is a perfect 10. The whole meal was excellent! And I don't say that often! The cook, Tim has been at the grill for 40 years and he has perfected his craft! Every item on the plate was top notch and the portions were so huge, you have to take some home. Also, our waitress was Dominique... if you go ask for her.
