I'm not a typical "reviewer" kind of guy, but this business warrants taking the extra step. I've lived on the West side for over 20 years, and these guys are by far the best I've encountered in terms of service, fair pricing, and honesty in dealing. I've had at least four occasions to bring in my two cars to Westside Mercedes (one is a Nissan 350 Z, the other is a Mercedes C class). For the Mercedes, they serviced it a couple of times, inspected it/repaired it after it got semi-flooded, and then helped me sell that car (to a private individual) at a good price. It was unbelievable how efficiently these guys handled every aspect of those repairs, and of that transaction. For the Z, they've done various repairs and regular maintenance over the years, all of which have been done well, quickly, and at a decent price. Ken, the owner, is a straight-shooting no-nonsense guy from New Jersey who tells you like it is. He knows the car business like the back of his hand, and he will do whatever he can to give you excellent service of your vehicle at a very fair rate. Luis and Eric are two of Westside's expert mechanics, who are not only exceptional at their jobs, but they're also very good at communicating to the customer with regard to any and all aspects of the servicing of your vehicle. Alma, the office manager, is always quick with a smile and will make you feel welcome. I don't drive a Mercedes. But my tire warning light came on, and I live around the corner from this garage, so I called to see if they'd help me out. Luis was really nice, said to come over and he'd check and top off the air. He explained that with the recent heat, the tires can lose some air, and that's what happened - they were all down by a couple of PSI. He topped off my air, explained that it might take a mile or two of driving for the sensor to reset - didn't charge me for anything and took care of me and my non-Mercedes SUV. This location used to be L&M Motors, owned by Ludwig, but he took a very well deserved retirement and Ken opened up maybe a year ago with the same great and friendly technicians that Ludwig had. I've had two highly tuned and sometimes temperamental C Class AMGs trading my first one with 130,000 miles and my current with 108,000 miles and both received many compliments of looking and running brand new. Was on a road trip Colorado to LA & suddenly (8 miles from my destination...) my accelerator petal starts to lock up!! I pulled over, quickly (and desperately) searching & saw all of the 5 star rave Yelp reviews. Alberto answered and was reassuring and kind. I made the scary last 8 mile drive straight to Westside. They were *awesome*!! Okay, real talk...I have a G-Wagon & it could be an any amount situation. (Clarity: a not honest mechanic could've charged me $2k & I'd have had no choice but to say yes). BUT... Was a super simple barring. And guess what...$103 later my car was fixed. #notkidding I don't know that I've ever solved a problem on this baby for so little. I think we're all a tiny bit skeptical when we are forced (by breakdown) to take our cars to a new place. Alberto on the phones could not have been kinder. The mechanics at the shop were so good feeling & nice. They looked at my car straight away, ordered the part & had me back on the road first thing next morning. I had taken my mother's Lexus ES350 to Firestone at 10785 Santa Monica Blvd in West LA because of multiple trouble indicators on the dash board (check engine light, ABS light, and one other indicator). After a 2-hour diagnostic session, the manager, Jovanni Lopez, reported a problem with the oil control valve, a part that I've never heard of. He also provided two error codes--C1201 and P0300. At home, I did some online searches and found that these codes have nothing to do with the oil control value. The P0300 code means "Random Cylinder Misfire Condition", and has a long list of possible causes. I was rather perplexed about this error code: If cylinders are misfiring, this should be obvious when one drives the car, but the engine was perfectly smooth. I then took the car to Westside Mercedes. As per the owner (Ken?), the P0300 error code is very uncommon. More commonly, one gets a code that indicates which cylinder is misfiring. Also, it is clear from the way the car was running that the cylinders were not actually misfiring. So, he concluded that an electrical glitch must have caused the car's computer to register spurious error codes, that nothing was actually wrong with the car, and that nothing needed to be done beyond clearing the error codes. This was done, there was no charge for the work, and the issue was indeed resolved. My conclusion: I'm truly impressed with Westside Mercedes. These folks not only know their stuff, but are also a pleasure to do business with. Mention my name and there will be no charge for the work. (Just kidding). Phillip M. This review is long over due. I took my 5 series BMW for years and was happy with the service. I spent thousands of dollars in repair work and general maintenance. Unfortunately, all it takes is one really bad experience. My fuel pump went out and I took it in. Upon pick up I was told by a crew member to keep my windows down because of the gas smell in the cabin of my car. I was shocked at the very strong odor but thought it would dissipate over the next day. It didn't. It only got worse. I called thinking there was a leak. They quickly took the car back to check for leaks. Upon conclusion that there was no leak I was told by Ken "you must be smelling things. There's no gas smell in your car". Not that I need to validate myself or my nose, but multiple people confirmed the very strong gas smell. It was so strong that I couldn't drive my car with the windows up or else I felt nauseous and got a head ache. I called Ken multiple times asking for him to fix this. I took the car back and he removed the back seat. The padding under the back seat was saturated in gas. He removed the padding and didn't offer to replace it. We did not have a nice exchange of words since Ken continued to fight the matter claiming I'm very sensitive. I got no apologies. The car continued to smell strongly of gas. Sadly, after a heated phone conversation and my requests of shampooing and cleaning the back of the cabin were declined, I gave up. My boyfriend got on the phone and was received far more politely. He repeated my exact words and Ken finally said "have her bring the car back". I was done. I'm a reasonable individual but when I'm blatantly treated inferior because of my gender I will take my business elsewhere. It ultimately took almost a month and a deep cleaning for the gas smell to no longer be prominent in my luxury vehicle. This incident could have easily been resolved. If I would've been treated like a valued customer from the start than I would've remained taking my 2008 528i BMW here. Instead, I found somewhere else that takes very good care of my car and is always customer service oriented. Mistakes happen, it's how you handle them that counts. read more

Don't waste time with this place. I brought my car for a repair and asked them to do a quote and estimate for few things I needed on my classic Mercedes. They did a crappy work on my cluster and left it very loose. Installed rear windows and left my white upholstery marked with dirty black spots all over. As a result they didn't take their time to give me a quote for parts I needed reeplaced on my car. They overcharged me for a small work project. They moved to 11811 Santa Monica Blvd at Westgate (get in their lot from the back street). Said it's because the 11th St place landlord changed hands. Phone number I have for them is (310) 458-3110. I went there and Ken's daughter was really nice and got some mechanics to look into my coolant issue to see if I should come back sooner or later, because there were two cars in front of me. Turns out the coolant is only slightly low, thus triggering the warning, so they topped it off for me for free and I didn't have to leave my car. Super nice, right? Lifesavers for a busy working mom like me. I will continue to go to them for service coz they are so reliable and chillax and not overly priced!!! read more

I brought my 2016 Range Rover here for an oil change. The dealer was going to charge $583. Ken did the same job with personal service for less than 1/3 of that! I waited while they worked on it - a nice n clean and new Starbucks is right across the street. His mechanics were friendly too! Ken was an expert about my car even though it's the first 2016 evoque to be brought in to him because normally new car owners get the first oil change free and won't need work for 30,000 miles. Since I bought my car out of state I'm stuck paying for my first few services. Ken didn't stick it to me like Hornburg wanted to. He explained things to me that I wouldn't have known to ask. My late grandfather purchased a Morgan in California and had it sent to Westside Mercedes to have some cosmetic restoration work done. He passed away before he got to see it finished, and we had the car sent back to Ohio. Now that we would like to sell the car, Westside Mercedes seems to have not kept any records about what all they had done on the car. After saying they would contact the paint shop they used, that they adamantly refused to give us the contact info of, they never reached back out to us to give us the information. I did not attempt to get the information from them just once, I spent time on the phone talking with the owner 3 separate times over 2 months and got absolutely nowhere. I worked in a restoration shop for a while, the quality of the work that was done was great but Westside Mercedes has practically voided the value of all of the work done by them by not giving us any information as to what was done. read more

This place should be avoided like the plague. When the check engine light went on my 2001 Audi S8, I took my car into Westside Auto to get a computer diagnostic done to find out what was the problem. Well, they hooked up the computer in came up with this code number. It took them three days to tell me what the code meant and how much it was going to cost to fix it. Their estimate of $1100, and after I made a few phone calls, I had the repair which was different than what they claimed done for $200. Then, the place had the nerve to demand $250 for the diagnostic test before they would release my car. I paid under protest but had little recourse other than going to small claims. They never gave me an estimate for just doing the computer diagnostic test which incidentally violates the law.. Bottom line: these people cannot be trusted. I gave them a one star for being close to my home. read more

Westside Mercedes is the most honest mechanic shop I've ever been to! And not to mention the best prices I've found on the west side. First visit was for a schedule A service, pretty basic but they informed me that I had 20% of my front brakes left and 40% rear brakes left before my next brake job.. really!? First mechanic to tell me I could wait to have them fixed :D Second visit was to address my front brakes, and Jenna was very sweet to drop me off at my office. Easy pea-sy. done. Ken mentions I may need a transmission service, hmm, I just had a transmission service the prior year. He analyzes my paperwork for me and it turns out the other shop I was going to didn't execute the transmission service properly AND overcharged me! Now I can't imagine going to anyone else .. going back for my third visit very soon! read more

We had been having challenges with our 2007 car that went unresolved after being diagnosed and worked on by three different auto shops. The car was erratic in responsiveness and would abruptly lose power. Ken actually came recommended by our previous mechanic for the tools and skills he has available to most accurately diagnose automotive issues. Ken has a good humored, amiable personality and I felt immediately assured by his overall vibe. After 3 years of best guess diagnoses from three respected mechanics trying different fixes --- Ken and his mechanic Luis and team had the car diagnosed accurately and repaired promptly. Given the value to us and what was accurately diagnosed and repaired, the rates for our repair seem quite reasonable. We're amazed and most grateful that it's now driving like brand new. When my headlight went out, I swung by the dealer over on Santa Monica to see what they could do... told me it would be $150, take a full day to do, and that they couldn't take me until later in the week. I'd say I had an average experience here. While most of the work they did in my Austin Healey was fine, there were a few issues along the way. My car is 50 years old and didn't have seat belts, so I got them to install lap belts. The bolts we're left too long and stated to rub the drive shaft which gave an almighty scraping noise. They fixed the issue promptly. I also asked them to repair my overdrive which if you know my model means taking up the carpets and seats and going through the tunnel. The way proposed do the repair was from under the car and would need to drop the gear box, which is a significant more time consuming process and would have cost me a lot more. I'd say they are fine to work on more modern European cars but I can't recommend them for European vintage models. They do work for vintage car dealers in LA including Austin Healey's so I expected them to be better versed with my car. If you own a vintage car, it's best to go to a specialist in that make and model which I've since discovered. read more
