Lots of kids but it is tolerable since most of the venue is currently outside. I'd that were not the case I would not be here. Good wine, beer and cider in a not unattractive setting. First of all, there are some things you should know... The atmosphere is open and rustic, not a cozy, comfortable restaurant. There is no wait staff. You order at the counter, and food is delivered to your table. Everything comes out at once. That being said, the food is incredible. The quality of the food surpasses anything I've had in the Hudson valley. Oysters with mignonette were fresh and delicious. Flavors were wonderful, the food was fresh. The menu has beautiful options. We shared several of the appetizers. The rice balls were delicious, the fried artichoke with aioli was amazing, it was really all wonderful. We also had the gnocchi and carbonara-both were delicious. The beef short rib with polenta, was incredibly beefy, and flavorful-a beautiful piece of perfectly braised meat. The cream donut we ordered was empty-had a hollow in the center and no cream inside. This is not a place to go pick apples. Most of the trees are not mature and the ones that are have very low yield. They also charge more for apples than anyone else ($12 for a tiny bag that probably holds 8 apples). They sell donuts... but not apple cider donuts. Tasty, but nothing to write home about. And at $3 a pop. The house ciders are good. As is the pizza. That's the reason to come here. The only reason. In truth, they should have just opened a restaurant, not pretended to be an orchard. Idyllic and peaceful. Lie in the grass or on a blanket with your own picnic items and enjoy acoustic lullabies from the regularly scheduled musicians. Or sit under an umbrella on the many park benches generously spaced along the lawn where people play ball and mingle in the company of their dogs, children, and babies. We played basketball on a great half-court on the grounds with ball provided, foosball, and card games (all made available to you) while others threw corn hole. Even blankets were made available at no cost. Inside, the bar area is spacious, with prompt and professional service. The wine offerings are satisfying, though the ciders should have a heavier, beer glass pour. Cocktails were hit or miss, but nothing a flask can't resolve. This organic farm uses everything it grows in its cuisine, from the wood-fired-to-perfection pizzas to the plum and apple tarts that the owner's mother bakes. My father was a consummate pizza maker, and my family agrees that Westwind Orchard's pizza is some of the best we have ever eaten--thin, crisp, and bursting with flavor with direct-from-this-farm ingredients. Lombardi's, et. al. don't hold a candle. Try the Amatriciana, with tomatoes, guanciale, pecorino, parmesan & whole chili peppers. So delicious! Then go raspberry or plum picking on the grounds. Afterward, take a 20 minute drive to Minnewaska State Park and enjoy the waterfalls and quiescent lakes. Some previous reviewers wrote about hipsters and overcrowding. We visited on Labor Day weekend and it was not overcrowded by any means, and the people were super friendly. If 30 minutes is too long for you to wait for heavenly pizzas and freshly made dishes, bring some snacks of your own or order some "piatti piccoli" (small plates). (Bring some hand sanitizer in case the bathroom line inside is lengthy, as the outside johns needed some. And as with any trip to nature, bug spray is helpful in the fruit fields.) read more

Go early. As soon as they open! Westwind Orchard is a little hidden gem in Accord, NY about 1.5 hour drive from NYC that all the locals from Kingston and surrounding areas seem to know about. I only found out about this farm through a NY Fashion Week friend. We arrived exactly at 12pm when they opened and was able to snag the long rustic table in the covered barn bar area. The picnic tables out in the sun quickly filled up with Hudson Valley hipsters and families. We returned two weeks later and was able to grab a corner table inside the main restaurant barn area. The vibe is Italian country chic, very stylish, but also very relaxed. There's a wood-burning pizza shed where delicious thin crust creations appear on your table very quickly. You can do tastings of their farm-made hard cider too. In the fall you may be able to pick apples and raspberries (from the trees) but my idea of picking is from the farm store. We picked up jars and jars of house made raspberry jam and their bourbon maple syrup. Kind of pricey, but the quality was worth it. We visited Westwind Orchard twice last Fall (2020) and didn't write about this place earlier because we wanted to secretly treasure it for ourselves a little longer. I've never witnessed a more unprofessional owner (FABIO CHIZZOLA) in MY LIFE. 2 young kids picked an apple off the tree in this place and the owner FLIPPED OUT on these kids; that didn't look older than 6 years old. Made them hysterical cry. This is how you treat people that want to support your business??? I even heard the mother of the 2 kids say that she would have paid for the apples that they picked. The owner was literally cursing and screaming at these helpless kids..that were just being kids. Way too expensive there to be treated that way. If you have kids- your kid might get screamed at...for being a kid. What a poor poor way to run a place. HORRIBLE WAY TO TREAT YOUR CUSTOMERS. I was Mortified and disgusted to see that. read more

Went to the Westwind Orchard a couple of weeks ago wth a group of 8. We didn't do the Apple picking but rather came to enjoy the cider and wood fire oven pizza and some live music. Pizzas were a definitely gourmet prices but you do get very fresh ingredients and usual topping combinations - chorizo and kale, squash and ricotta, heirloom tomatos and plum pizzas were all very delicious (I can't pick a favorite because it was all good). Apple cider donut made fresh on premise is also a must try. The Orchard has a game shed - so good for grabbing a drink and then paying some foosball or ping pong. On the Sunday we went there was live music playing. I am particularly grateful to them - I left a pair of sunglasses that I love at their orchard. I didn't think I would ever see them again. But by boyfriend reached out to them on email and they actually had it in lost and found and shipped it back to me in NY. That was very nice of them. read more

Westwind Orchard is the perfect spot to go with a group looking to sit outside, enjoy some cider, and have really good wood-fired pizzas. This is a similar setup to all the other Hudson Valley cideries/breweries nowadays where you can pick apples, get cider on tap, and eat wood-fired pizza. But this pizza is better than all the other ones I have had. They rotate seasonally and are just super fresh and high-quality. I would go for the pizza alone! The ciders are good, but I don't drink them too often so I can't offer much insight. What I can say is that the people working inside are helpful in making suggestions, even when busy, and that's really all you can ask for at a place like this. There are great grounds to walk around, games galore to pay on the lawn and indoors, and good parking. Unlike most other cideries, you can come here if the weather is bad or cold because there is decent indoor space as well! read more

We live in the neighborhood, our family has been coming here for years. Never thought to leave a review but seeing the negative reviews from people who are clearly the bad apples is a reminder to support your favorite local businesses. We saw the exchange on that Sunday and the few poor reviews left here are very much not what we witnessed that evening. It's sad to see the lack of integrity from others in our own community. This place is incredible! One of the top places to dine in the hudson valley/Catskills area in my opinion. The surroundings are gorgeous and serene, the food is divine and I loved the incredibly curated shop. Everything we ordered tasted so so amazing. The fried artichokes I'm still thinking about. I picked up a wonderful bottle of olive oil, some fresh chili pepper flakes, And pears to bring home. You can really tell the owner cares about every detail and puts so much love into this place. This 100% hits the spot! Beautiful, beautiful location with stylishly casual buildings, lots of German beer tables, and heavy duty picnic blankets to borrow...and the pizza on the weekends is amazing!! We just moved to the area from Brooklyn and Saraghina was one of or favorite restaurants (and definitely is some of the best pizza in NYC), so we were thrilled to find out you can basically get it - with local toppings - around the corner from our new house. I loved the Ortolana with pesto, mozzarella, roasted garlic, zucchini, *and* zucchini blossoms...yum!!! The crust is nicely charred and a tiny bit chewy, which was perfect with the toppings. That one is a very rich pizza, so I think may be too much for one person. We did some cider tastings and loved both the Classic and the new Goldrush - different but delicious...and it's worth trying them all to see what you like. Plus, the little store is ridiculously adorable and it was fun to taste a few ciders and then pick up beautiful olive oil, vinegar, jam, and some veggies. The property is beautiful, the cider is okay, and the pizza is okay. However, they don't recycle the glass bottles or plastic cups after patrons drink the cider. We asked one of the employees to make sure we didn't misunderstand their trash separation signs. He confirmed that they just throw them out. There are so many recycling facilities in Ulster County! While our first order came out in 20 min (expected time were we given was 15), we waited over an hour for our second order of two pies (expected time we were given was 30 min). As response to the below comment that westwind and Fabio are amazing. Is completely untrue! I was a customer that day and witnessed the owner yelling at children for taking apples off of the tree. The children were around 5 or 6 years old and are unable to read signs. You might want to reevaluate an apple tree in the middle of the establishment. I saw the interaction between the owner and the mother and it was uncalled for. The absurd thing this all happens on a their first day of their kid friendly Sunday event. And to be honest their were no employees that asked those children to stop as I had a daughter their with a group of her friends that were sitting at the table next to the tree. They did not hear or see anyone approach them. I am a local customer and having been going their for years with my children and will not be going there again. On another note the manager Hannah K. that responded to review did not even see what transpired and came out after the fact so please going forward you should be honest and respectful to your customers. read more

A wonderful treat to discover. We live in nearby Kingston and were looking for a different place for pizza and pasta for our family. The Yelp recommendations were great, so we went on a mild Sunday evening. It was early enough in the year to not be too crowded and we were able to find a picnic table although came prepared with picnic blankets just in case. The staff was welcoming and knowledgeable not only about the food but about the history of the place. The food was delicious. Really unique spot! Came here on a Sunday around 4pm ish with hubby. First off, Accord is beautiful and it's a great area to check out. We had two glasses of yummy, tart cider. We picked apples ($12 for a small bag) which yielded about 12 apples. They didn't have the best variety and best looking apples I've seen in the Valley but it's more about recreation here... Because it's really a hang out spot. They games available (but no real bathrooms!) They had live music on the farm, they had lots of places on the grass to picnic. They make pizzas on site too, and fresh apple ciders (alcohol). I had the classic which was tart and hubby had the Gold rush which was sweeter. They were pretty boozy. As for the pizza, we had the margarita & the chorizo atop which was super yummy. Great wood fired pizza crust and good chorizo especially. Didn't taste the mozzarella much even though they said that was their thing with this pizza. We also ordered a good apple cider donut - may have been the best I ever had. It was equal parts cakey and equal parts fried-y, so not very dry. I don't like when they're too cakey. The staff/service was pretty warm and friendly here. They have an artisinal goods market of locally produced jams, etc and homegrown pumpkins, etc. Would recommend checking it out, it is very unique. Dreamy atmosphere and eating experience. Truly reminded us of Tuscany. The pizzas were good - super fresh ingredients, good crust, and really delicious sauce. The pizzas had a lot of raw flour on the bottom of them, maybe used to prevent sticking, that was not delicious to taste. Maybe just an overzealous hand that night. The wine was lovely. We didn't have any cider. The pizzas were slow to come out, but we really enjoyed just being in the space.
