This place is great! My group of 3 came in on a Friday night which is their karaoke night. The ambiance was great. The service was great, everyone at Dale was inviting and welcoming. Shout out barkeep Eric and the DJ P-LO! The cast iron chicken thighs were great and seasoned exceptionally. The toast that came with it was okay. The pizzas though! Ooweee!! The White Buffalo is great, this is what they're known for! If you love blue cheese - there's a lot of it. If you don't like blue cheese - just know, there's a lot of it. The Sausage Pepper was great, the flavor to the sausage was strong and blends beautifully with the red peppers and onions. The Dale is a must visit if you're in the area. Delicious pizza, strong drinks, and a fun atmosphere. Indoor and outdoor seating. Outdoor seating is dog friendly! No reservation required. We arrived around 5:45pm on a Saturday. Service was a little slow but it was also a very busy night. The bench seating was not comfortable for me, but they were kind enough to bring over a chair when I asked if that was possible. The staff is nice and for some reason, tonight, they had a kiddie pool filled with jello for jello wrestling! That was a fun activity to watch on a Saturday night hahaha. Trash people, trash service, actually NO service in 25 minutes. I've been wanting to make a detour to get here for a couple years I think, I finally had the chance and took it. The amount of time these two girls ignored me and another couple was sorta astounding. The small space makes for a loud and obnoxious time when they have some annoying dj for karaoke, but I'm sure a small band with a good vibe would be dope. First off we found this place back in 19' on a country exploration drive that my wife and frequently take. We love to venture out and see what doin around the area. We loved it then and now that we are back wow! Great food, awesome community, great cocktails and a wonderful space. Indoors or outdoors this place rocks. People make the place special and the diversity of the crowd is just home. Open Thursday till Monday and open late too. It's very hard to find good food and people after 8 in Sullivan county and that's a big score for me being raised in the five boroughs and having everything all the time. I've been several times, was just there again on Sunday for pizza with friends and was able to sit outside,which we never do bcuz the place is always packed. Hippy trippy vibes, all ages, the friendliest staff you could imagine. The pizza knocks all others out of the park, seriously. The Sophia Loren is a fav, but I also tried the mushroom one with thin sliced potatoes on it, mind blown! You have to try it. The hot chick's is also a fav of mine, spicy chickpeas in a sizzling cast iron pan. Watermelon Margarita for the win. What a wonderful, eclectic dining experience!!! The food AMAZING. I am from NYC and when I tell you I had the most delicious pizza pie called the white buffalo with wild mushrooms. My mouth is watering now just thinking about it. The broccoli was scrumptious and the garlicky sourdough bread was out of this world. The chicken thighs in cast iron skillet looked so good I wanted to eat some even though I have not eaten meat in over 20 years!!! Where do I even begin! This is my absolute favorite restaurant to eat at with my friends and family! I normally only have 1-2 slices of pizza max, but when visiting the dale it's a WHOLE different story! I at least have 4-6 slices of pizza every single time I visit. Anyway, as a local who frequents The Dale often, let me give you the real skinny. The crew at The Dale is one of the bedrocks of our community here in Mountaindale. Sarah, Alex and their team are there for us, rain or shine, year round doing what they do best: providing a spot for laughs, great local music, good times, and most importantly, some of the best dang pizza in the region. On top of all of this, they will most likely be willing to help support your own local event, because they know what community means and how much it matters. Alex is an absolute wizard with the specials. When I tell you that you need to ask about the special, you actually probably don't, because you'll most likely be auto-adding it to your order anyway after hearing what's on it. Hyper-local ingredients. Fresh made sourdough. Put it in my mouth already. My daily driver is the Sofia Loren. What a banger of a pizza with a spicy kick that can be hard to find out here (a lot of people consider black pepper too spicy). Whatever you pick, you're gonna love. Now don't get me wrong. This is not fine dining. Do not expect them to always have every little thing you want, because that's just not realistic. We are in the woods, and the resources that a small local restaurant has out here will never compare to your big city expectations, so just leave those behind. It can get wild out here and be an unpredictable beast, which is one of the best parts of the experience. Come with a chill relaxed attitude and roll with it. Live in the experience. Be a person. We had brunch a couple of weeks ago at The Dale, so excited to have found what we hoped would be a good place for us to go in the future. Sadly, that won't be the case. They're "vegan friendly," but had enough non-dairy milk for four thimble sized containers. I had to ask for a second container for each of my two cups of coffee and, with the last one, was told they were almost out (so, basically, don't ask for more coffee...?). The person who wanted cow's milk was told someone had to go to the store for it and, rather than bringing it to us, we had to ask if it had ever arrived. (It had, but his coffee was cold by then and he wasn't offered a new cup.) My husband got a glass of juice so full of ice that he felt he'd not had any juice at all and my Mimosa was in a very small old-school champagne glass, so I, too, felt cheated. And that's all before the food even arrived. None of us enjoyed our food especially. My husband and I had frittatas that were essentially tasteless. The waitress wasn't good and it actually felt like we were annoying her by asking for things like enough milk for our coffee to suit our own tastes and not just her need not to be bothered doing anything. Our friends weren't thrilled with their meals either and the experience was annoying enough to keep us away. read more

The inside area features a disco ball and on weekends, music. The staff has been nothing but friendly every time I've been there for dinner or takeout. I'm unsure how long they have been offering vegan cheese but it seems I was the very first person to ever question their sourdough crust containing honey which makes their vegan cheese useless to someone who follows a vegan diet... Where to begin...from grass in the bottled drinking water to bugs in the beer and an owner with the worse sense of business I have ever encountered. After being served wine that was spoiled, I immediately returned it and asked for something different. I explained that the wine had turned which unfortunately happens often especially red wine during summer months. The owner appeared at our table insisting that the wine was delicious and that she would not remove it from the bill. She was extremely loud and nasty!! Just about the best pizza you're likely to find on the south side of Catskill Park. You won't come across a better spot in Monticello, Liberty, Ellenville, or anywhere in between. Crispy thin crust, doughy edges, super fresh ingredients, and not-at-all-greasy cheeses and pepperonis-- it's about as healthy as pizza gets without sacrificing all the wonderful things we love about our friend, the pizza. The Dale has a killer backyard, and they're smart about social distancing: the tables out back are spaced a good 12-15 feet apart, so even when it's slammed, you can relax. The bar inside is fun, too, with a small but well-chosen selection of microbrews and ciders, as well as a vintage pinball machine, mirrorball, and on certain nights, live music. I haven't had the chance to see the place in full swing (I've only been staying up here for a few months), but things being what they are, the Dale makes for a perfect date night and brings you about as close to 'pre-covid times' as you're likely to get while still feeling safe and chill. read more

They don't tell you there's a $6.00 upcharge for vegan cheese, and a $5.50 upcharge for gluten-free crust, until they give you the check. If I'd known I'd be paying $17 for 3 slices of mushroom pizza instead of $11 (I split the pie with my friend), I would've ordered the $18 for salad with beets and pumpkin seeds instead. The server didn't offer me that choice, because they didn't tell me I was about to pay $17 for some slices, not $11. The pizza came out more red than a pizza should be. They skimped on the $6.00-upcharged vegan cheese. The mushrooms were more of a garnish than a topping, which is par for the course these days in American-run pizza joints. (That's what I see, do you? Italians treat you like family and feed you. American entrepreneurs, not so much). I punched 5-stars into this review so the algorithm would show you, my fellow brethren, the prices The Dale leaves off of their menu. Accommodating my food allergies raised the cost of my order 53%, and they didn't tell me. Highway robbery. I am not going back, except to tell the owner about this review, and see if she gives me reason to take it down. By all appearances, it does look like they are trying to make a community night spot. Great pizza, but drinks have no alcohol in them, rip off. male server we had was the laziest ever. we couldn't even get water with the pizza. great vibe inside and am sure the music nights are fun so stick to that. they also need something to control the overwhelming amount of yellowjackets outside dining, off the charts this year and other restaurants have that so it's doable. Many left the outdoor tables to eat inside or just left. our dog was scared of the amount of them too. if good service is your thing, this isn't the place for you. our table usually doesn't care about that but we like liquid with our food to avoid choking! just wanted some water~ also if take out boxes needed to be folded (put together), server complained. My sis in law had a French Kiss (Raspberry Margarita) and she says it was delicious. They have a spacious outdoor area and the music and ambiance definitely adds a special touch. we have been to the Dale during Previous summers. so I was excited to bring my kids there before they were off to college. We ordered and looked forward to our apps salads and pizzas. i ordered the goat cheese and beet salad- sadly and horribly I found a daddy long legs spider in my salad still Alive and moving. I was told that it's farm fresh veggies and they were washed. while I was not charged for the salad, besides our sweet waitress who apologized no management came to us and it seemed like it was no big deal. I did not make a scene and remained at our dinner . My kids and I were totally grossed out to continue eating our Caesar salad and investigated our pizzas like a crime scene. Surprisingly delicious sourdough pizza and bigger surprise was the talented bartender whipping up some unique and delicious cocktails.
