I was skeptical at first but this place was really good though I know that all nursing care facilities aren't 100% perfect. My dad had to stay here for almost 2 weeks for rehab after being transferred here from Kaiser. The place was clean and is in a really good neighborhood and is within walking distance to restaurants and shopping. The CNAs and nurses were very nice. I forgot one of the nurses names, I think it's Helen. She brought my dad a packet of hot chocolate for later and always said hello when she saw him. Another CNA or Nurse named Star was also great with my dad. My dad was well taken care of here. If you ever need to put your loved one in a care home whether it's temporary or permanently, I trust this facility. read more

After knee replacement, my sister was sent here for rehab. We met Julie Flaminiano and she helped us so much! She was so kind and professional to both me and my sister. She made herself available to answer all our questions. And she provided the very best service for my sister. Even after we left the rehab, we still had questions and Julie answered them for us. My dad was recently admitted. He really likes it there. He says the food is good; the nursing staff are attentive; the therapists are very respectful of his needs/issues and the room is clean. My observation is similar with the caveat that it is really noisy at the facility. But we are free to close the door to the room for some noise reduction and privacy. Lastly, the restrooms are limited in number. As such, they are always busy and you often have to wait or walk to the next bathroom location. If not for the aforementioned they would have gotten a five star rating. read more

I Highly recommend this place -- truly deserving of an A+++ rating. The staff consistently go above and beyond to accommodate every request, often exceeding expectations. There is always someone checking in on my family members and guests to ensure their comfort and see if anything is needed. The level of attentiveness and care is outstanding. Ms. Laleta, Ms Areli and Ms. Maricel, the Director of Nursing are awesome and very accommodating. The Staff members are responsive, helpful, and always available when needed. A special mention goes to the Activity Director (Ms. Cynthia and Ann) and their team -- they do an exceptional job creating engaging and meaningful experiences. They put their hearts out. Overall, the quality of service and genuine care provided here make it a standout. My family members and friends visiting from Texas to Kentucky and everywhere else told me that they were amazed by the warm reception and accommodation. Overall, the experience was good. The nurses were super friendly and helpful. The respiratory therapists were kind and treated my sister who was recoivering from a tracheostomy with dignity and respect. The cleaning crew always made sure that the room was clean. The social care manager and her assistant also was helpful in navigating us through the process. The facility is pretty clean, although the moaning and screaming from other patients in the other rooms can be a little disturbing. However, that is to be expected in a post acute facility. The one complaint which I had was the discharge process. The process was confusing. Staff was telling us different things and confirmation for next day discharges were changed without explanation. We finally had to discharge my sister by stating AMA which means "against medical advice" because if we hadn't, she would have been there for at least two more days (running tests). Overall, I would say that the stay was good and Westwood took great care of my sister. read more

Five stars to the wonderful staff at Westwood Post-Acute. I have worked with them on many patient discharge plans, and I am always impressed with how responsive and attentive the entire team is. The staff consistently goes above and beyond to make sure patients and families feel informed and supported. I appreciate the social services and case management teams for their smooth and coordinated discharges, making sure that patients have everything they need to go home safely. A special shout-out to Regine, whose attention to detail and outstanding communication makes all the difference in having a smooth and safe discharge for patients. She is great at keeping families and myself informed every step of the way and handles all my questions quickly. My 68 year old brother stayed at Westwood Post-Acute for nearly 3 months. He was admitted in a totally vegetated state and was discharged yesterday on his feet walking and talking. I sincerely believe his amazing recovery had a lot to do with the program and the fantastic staff at Westbound. I feel the staff went above and beyond the call of duty and gave it all they got. I am so grateful for every one of the staff that helped my brother. Nurses, nurses assistants, physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy. As an example of this wonderful staff, I want to personally thank my go to person Sunny. He wore many hats all the time. He solved problems, enabled doctor's visits, discharge and solved any issues internal or external. Amazing how just one individual could make such a difference. Imagine now there is many Sunny's running around the facility serving all those patients. The facility is always clean and orderly. This is definitely one of the better care facilities. The rooms are bright, attractive, and clean. A lot of them have sliding doors to the many courtyards with tables, umbrellas, and greenery. The staff is exceptionally kind and caring. Nurses are great. My brother is very happy to stay here (he's here long-term) and when he's been hospitalized he's eager to return. The negatives are: not enough staff for the everyday non medical needs. The usual issue in all hospitals and facilities nowadays of cumbersome communication channels. The staff gets a message to the nurse who gets one to the doctor, who gets it to the psychiatrist, then back down the channel. It gets confused and takes too long. Also there is not one set of caregivers, it differs each day and night. The best contact is the case manager or social worker who will be consistent. read more

This place need a new facility manager that can fix their ac. They are a bit disorganized. PT department does not talk to anyone at nurses station. Take note!: If you have a loved one that is not showing much improvement they will boot you out. You have to appeal and you will win almost every time . This review is for the outstanding care my grandmother received during her 14 day stay after having a broken hip and being discharged from Kaiser. Our case manager Regine was so helpful and above all caring and genuine in her efforts to take care of our situation. I felt she always went above and beyond! I'm incredibly pleased with the care my 94-year-old mom has received at Westwood. The staff are compassionate and attentive, creating a warm and welcoming environment. The facilities are well lit and airy ; the lobby ,restrooms and hallways are cleaned and well maintained .The beautiful garden and seating area have been a wonderful place to take my mom out. We also enjoy taking her in a wheelchair for periodic walks around the block outside the facility, which is always a nice, safe experience. By choice, the family does the laundry , so the staff ensures that my mom changes into a fresh set of clothes each day. A special thanks to Laleta Khan for her exceptionally competent support and guidance in convincing me to move my mom to Westwood. I also wanted to recognize some of the staff who have been so kind in making my mom comfortable at Westwood. My Mom, everyone call her "Nanay Salas" and has been in this facility since February 3rd for her rehabilitation. I personally witnessed as I visit my mom every day, it brings Joy to my MoM's face. They are the most caring, sweet and hardworking nurses and therapists with their dedication to serve every patients specially to my mom, which make a BIG asset to the company. They would greet her whenever they started their shift or saw her around. During the last few days of her life, the helpers showed great concerned about her well-being and was trying to make her as comfortable as possible. A special thanks to the helpers who went extra miles to heat up food and drinks for my mom even in the middle of nights. Thank you so much for taking care of my mom when we were not available. Honestly, taking a star away for the food. Looked, smelled and was unappetizing. It's sad that those poor people trying to recover get fed such awful food. And how no one came to explain anything when she arrived. Where the offices are? Bathrooms? Activity room? Parking?! Anything, even if it's a booklet! The 4 stars go to the LVNs, RNs, CNAs, PTs, and OTs. Ruffa, Akemi, Mark, Ashlee, Ashley, Toan, Kendra, Lauren, Christian, Michael, Regina, Harvin, Joslene.. I know I'm forgetting some.. All showed mom much care and kindness. BIG shout out to Kay, our Care manager.. Kay worked with me throughout moms one month+ stay. Kay stayed in touch after hours, days off etc.. above and beyond.. plus stopping to check in on us in moms room. Not the most up to date facility, broken blinds, windows that don't stay or even open. Guest restrooms, not enough and always smelled. And no where for guests to warm up or keep food for their patient/ family member. And the TVs, so much to say, training or a manual on how to get more than 7 Channels would be a start. read more

This place is full of lies! Do not send your loved ones here because they don't care about what's best for the patients. My grandpa fell & broke 3 vertebrae's & has 2 bulging discs. He can not walk, stand or use the bathroom by himself without assistance. After a short stay at Kaiser they sent him to a Westwood stating he would need to stay about 3mnths, since that's how long recovery normally takes for these injuries. And if he falls one more time it may result in him being paralyzed. Well after 21 days Westwood tried to send him home saying if we wanted him to stay we would have to pay them $450 day plus paying separate fees for his medication (they wouldn't allow us to bring it), plus physical therapy & other fees. We called our insurance company (Kaiser) and they said no he is covered at the facility for 100 days so they shouldn't be sending him home. He had multiple people tell him he was nowhere ready to go home including the physical therapist working with him so my mom appealed them trying to send him home & they denied the appeal. But they lied & told my mom my grandpa was fully functioning (walking to the bathroom by himself, could wipe himself, stand/sit by himself) & ready to go home. Well they sent him home almost exactly the same as when he went in. When we told him what the facility told us about his independence he said he was never doing any of what they told my mom. If his insurance is willing to pay for him to stay longer to make sure he actually gets better what is the issue? Someone told me they might get paid a higher premium in the beginning so maybe to keep him they would have got paid less? Idk. But regardless them sending him home like this shows they don't give a crap about the safety & well being of the patients. We are now paying a home health nurse $2100 per week to sit with him for 8hrs a day to make sure he doesn't fall again even though his insurance fully covered for him to stay at Westwood. I will be honest & say my gpa is pretty grumpy & depressed. He was a fully functioning, active & independent 79yo before his fall, so to go from that to being completely dependent on other people to take care of you has him depressed. Instead of Westwood empathizing with him, they likely sent him home cause they didn't want to deal with him. read more

There are some kind people here that makes me write this review. I think Westwood works together with all the amazing people that are present here. There are some very special people here and they need to be mentioned. Things aren't perfect here but for the 100 days that my mom spent here, some people really made a big difference for me as her family and for her that had to spend the nights and had a strong dependency on her caregivers. There is one very special person in Westwood who is like a brother to me. Harvin. Harvin's presence and knowing that he will be there on a shift to take care of my mom meant everything to me. He is such an amazing person, truly so hardworking, so kind, caring and always ready to help. I cannot thank him enough! He is literally the BEST ever! We felt at ease in his presence. Many other people to mention such as Jeoselyn, Angelita, Sylvia, Magnolia, Crystal. They are all very special! The RN here were all very nice in taking cafe of my mom, some folks that were really kind were Aldrin, Edward and Yeda! Also the review would be absoutely incomplete without mentioning the extreme kindness and ever-present helpfulness of Regine! She was so nice and helpful. Always there when we needed her. She gave us her personal number and got back to us within minutes no matter when we contacted her. Thank you so much Regine! Also I cannot forget to mention all the therapists we worked with such as Eric, Lauren, Regina, Ivy, and Ruby in speech therapy! Also want to give a special shoutout to Christian in OT. Even though he wasn't assigned to us, he was always so kind and helpful and we didn't hesitate to reach out to him with questions. My 70 years old paraplegic sister was transferred here from Kaiser hospital to recover and rehab from two broken legs after falling out of her wheelchair. Having had no prior experience with a nursing home, I was initially concerned because of all the horror stories I've heard. This is what I've learned and would like to pass on: Don't judge the place based on the first day or so. It really does take them a few days to figure everything out but once they do, it's full speed ahead. The people there really do care and want to do everything they can to make the rehabilitation experience as pleasurable as possible. Because my sister was really out of it for a few days, Roofa (sp), an activities director, called me to find out exactly what my sister's normal days were like and what makes her happy. I'm now calling Roofa the Cruise Director. Her doctor returned my call that same day and really listened to everything I had to say. Kaiser Hospital was limiting her pain meds which caused her chronic pain to increase. Her doctor, Dr. Allen, asked questions and changed her meds based on what I told her and not Kaiser. This place isn't going to win any decorating awards and once you get past the sometimes mangled vertical blinds on the sliding doors, etc., you'll see that it's very clean and smells cleans. Absolutely no urine smells whatsoever. My sister is going to be there for at least 2 months and we both feel pretty good about her being there for that length of time. read more

This was the first SNF (skilled nursing facility) we had to place my mom in after a month long stay at Kaiser. She was visually and cognitivly impaired and lasted 5 days before being RUSHED to ER with a "change in condition." Her change in condition was HYPOTHERMIA. No one told me that when they called either. She spent the next month back at Kaiser. This place was one of 3 SNF that neglected my mom, causing more harm than good, leading to her death 5 months later. KEEP YOUR LOVE ONES OUT OF HERE. read more

WITHOUT them this place would be "The Cuckoo's Nest!" THEY ALL DESERVE A GODDAMN RAISE! IN FACT A DOUBLE GODDAMNED RAISE!!! The Good; Angelita CNA: this young woman, who is a certified nursing assistant; takes charge and command. Everyone yet does not command their respect, though they do all respect her. She is a DELIGHT! She checks your vitals. She brings your tray of food opens the items that you're not able to, and will bring you ice, will fix your bed, will make you comfortable and she does it with a smile! And if you're lucky, you will hear this songbird sing with the most beautiful voice. Ruffo RNA: (Sr. Nurse?) is always smiling, singing and laughing. She lights up the room when she comes in. I looked forward to seeing her every day/evening. Ashley RNA: Ashley is new to the facility and still a "Rookie". However, don't let that fool you, she may be a bit shy but that is part of her charming personality. When it comes down to it, she checks things twice and makes sure things are done in the correct manner. Harvin/Harry CNA: Harvin works his little butt off coming and going doing everything that he was asked of him and then some. I don't know how this place survives without him and he does it with his smile and a little bit of fun. Jocelyn CNA: Jocelyn Is hard-working and efficient mostly works in tandem with Harvin. She is witty has a great attitude is a hard worker and to see both of them together is something I would look forward to every day. Salam CNA: Salam is kind, her smile lights up the room, gentle, but she knows what she's doing. She's a wonderful caregiver. Kelsey front desk reception, greeter, information, helper representative. Kelsey is fantastic at what she does and I don't know how anyone could do what she does with bells going off constantly. Kelsey always acknowledged anyone who would walk up to the front desk area. She never ignored "an inmate" Oops. I mean resident nor a family member she greets everyone with a smile that could light up a room and she always helps an assist when she can. Lauren, Corrine,Kendra, Diane AMAZING PT/OT TEAM (AKA"The 4 Coquettes" great problem solving skills. if I could've taken any of them home with me for PT/OT I surely would. They're all amazing young ladies and know what they do and do it expertly. These persons below I want to recognize for their particularly Bad Attitude and Conduct. The Bad (With the exception of Sheila) the supervisors and managers, (I never saw the Director ) The(F)Ugly; DENNIS: I don't know if he has dirt on any of the "Powers that be" or what hold he has on them, but I am not sure I have ever met The MOST; 1. RUDE 2. OBTUSE 3. SNOTTY 4. CONDESCENDING 5. An "IT'S GOOD TO BE THE KING" COMPLEX 6. He WALKS DOWN THE CORRIDORS with his GODDAMN NOSE IN THE AIR! 7. IGNORES RESIDENTS, FAMILY of Residents, even though they are RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIM!!! DENNIS should be FIRED IMMEDIATELY!!! CHRISTINA: She's the daytime supervisor. I didn't see her that often, and I'm happy about that! I think she gets off on intimidating the residents and the staff. It's a long story so I'll try to keep it short. I was asking to speak to a supervisor because some of the things that others were given like the welcome care package, and how I or my roommate, Barbara was treated or "asking too many questions". I just wanted to know what to expect. So it was my I think on the second day staying at the "lovely" Westwood Post Acute she came in and asked me if I would change rooms, showed me a lovely room that had a window so there's not much I would be changing and I said "OK" well here's what happened next. In my new room, It was just Christina and myself. She took a posture that was very intimidating. At least she was trying to intimidate me. What she didn't know is I saw through all her bullshit, she pretty much threatened me and basically it was just "go with the flow stop questioning things or I will take you to the emergency room because I can do that at any time". I acted afraid and scared and said "oh well I was just wanting to know about this and I was wanting to know about that because nobody explained it to me" blah blah blah but I wonder how many others she's pretty much done the same, she should be FIRED IMMEDIATELY! I've never been approached by someone who was threatening and intimidating, and I hope others who may read this Will speak up as well. She should not be working in a skilled nursing facility.! read more
