I thought the service was good and the blood orange ale and basic burger was very very good. We happened to see photos being taken of the specials for Thursday which was bbq ribs and slaw. We were advised to come back on Thursday for them. The ribs looked so tasty I had to visit the next day and it was worth the wait. The ribs were very moist, smoky and very tasty. The slaw was prepared different from what I'm used to but I couldn't stop eating it. They supplied a mild bbq sauce for the ribs but you really don't need sauce on the ribs at all even though the sauce is flavorful. I have to admit the baked potatoes were unique and tasty as well. Bottom line I'll be returning as I am now a fan. You'll be a fan too should you also visit White Dog.

We worked there for a bit and had a few drinks. I decided to get a pretzel with a side of beer cheese. I really enjoyed the pretzel, I didn't find the beer cheese worth the +$2 up-charge, the mustards were good on the side. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and reading what all the plaques said on the wall. The bathrooms were clean and well maintained. Overall our server was very attentive and nice to us! I would love to come back here again for another Hef and pretzel :)

To start, I tried the Pickletini. As a fan of pickle-forward drinks, I found it "not bad"--a solid choice if you enjoy that briny profile. My fiancé opted for the All Ways Down Double IPA flight. At 9% ABV, it was a heavy hitter, but he really enjoyed the intense hop aroma and flavor provided by the Cryo Hops. For my main, I ordered the TNT Sando (Tri-Tip with bacon jam and garlic aioli) on Gaston's grilled focaccia. I requested it without pickles, and it was excellent. I paired it with the Black Bean and Veggie soup, which was a standout--perfectly delicious with a nice "zing" to it. Unfortunately, the meal hit a significant snag with my fiancé's Fish & Chips. The beer and cornmeal tempura batter was extremely thick (nearly 3/4 of an inch in some spots) and the fish was overcooked. Additionally, the blue cheese dressing on his side salad was very runny and tasted off. It was disappointing enough that we had to send it back. We replaced it with The Spicy Italian pizza. This was a total 180--it arrived looking beautiful, and the combination of the meats, pepperoncinis, and hot honey was absolutely delicious. Our server, Casey P., was generally good and attentive, though we did have to wait to start our meal because we weren't initially provided with napkins or silverware. A minor note on the atmosphere: the table we were seated at had "gay" carved into the wood, which felt a bit out of place for the professional vibe of the rest of the establishment. Overall, the TNT Sando, the pizza, and the beers are worth coming back for, but the kitchen consistency on the fried items definitely needs some work.

I had the Donor Kebab this time because I hadn't tried it yet and I have been missing out. It was really good! The mixed meat was on point and cooked just right. The veggie combinations were different then what I'm used to with kebabs but it worked really well. They had red cabbage, cucumber, tomato, lettuce, and pepperoncinis. The pita was wrapped in a thin, yet thick enough wrap to hold it all together and it was a perfect compliment to this Kebab! You can also never go wrong with any sausages, bratwurst or bologna. I like that they don't have a huge menu because everything you get is quality ingredients made with care. Did I mention beer? They have a multitude of glasses and form factors to pour into. The owners and employees have been consistently very kind and helpful with any questions I have about the market or restaurant since the beginning. Speaking of the market, they have always had great and fair prices with their imported items and its one of the only places in town that has quality European dark chocolates. I checked reviews and the menu on here and was torn between a Reuben and a schnitzel sandwich. I went with the schnitzel and it is a five star sandwich for sure. Pounded incredibly thin with a crispy seasoned breading and on a fresh crusty bun. Honestly I miss that sandwich. Next time, we will see how the Reuben compares! I'm never coming to Boise again without hitting das Alpenhaus.

Their food choices are expansive and we ordered the bratwurst and Schnitzel dinners. And WOW!!! The brats were delicious and were perfectly pared with a robust mustard with horseradish. The seasoning in the brats was perfectly balanced. The Schnitzel was the best I have ever had. It was not the paper-thin variety you are probably used to while also being juicy and crispy at the same time. Great job chef. If you want flavorful, substantial and well made dinner entree's in a great environment, find your way to Schnitzel Garten.
