I was told the Zucchini in my dish was from the cook's grandma's(?) or mom's(?) backyard and noodles were freshly made which sounded nice but I was hoping my "Zucchini Parm" looked more like it. Instead they were pre-formed patties -_-. Price? Moondog's is doing the "pay what you can" model- but I'm not sure how long they'll continue promoting it. Be warned because we were in sticker shock and hubs decided to pay the full $25ea for our hot buttered rolls which were good but...small. Service was pleasant though from everyone! And because we were doing wine samplings just steps away at Hudson-Chatham Winery, the young lady brought our meals all the way to our table- Thank you! I am posting for my first time about this food truck today because readers need to know about the Purple Rain Hot Dog. They start with a toasted roll and an all beef local hot dog topped with mustard. Then the star of the show is added, an amazing spicy Purple Kraut that mixes sweet with a surprising heat that will have you sweating. It's a bit messy to eat in the car but this is by far my favorite so far. Menu isn't super extensive but they have several varieties of specialty dogs as well as tacos, vegan offering and salads. Heather is a friendly face and there is a guy that works the Palenville site as well who is also great. They have a picnic table if you want to sit and relax while you eat or to go orders are available as well. Pricing is a bit higher than a basic hot dog truck but well worth it for the quality of the products, the flavor, the service and the finished product. This time we brought another couple of friends with us and ordered a full platter. It was served up in a matter of minutes and it incredibly completely filled three platters with assorted barbecue, including a full rack of ribs, pulled pork, sliced turkey, a quarter chicken and bratwurst, not to mention sliced pickles and rolls. Of course we selected three sides to come with it (which were included): a nice smoked potato salad, cider coleslaw, and cider braised sautéed greens. We added two homemade sauces, peach chipotle and applejack. Well the ribs were smoked using applewood and were so tender the meat fell off the bone. Everything was delicious and the sauces were superb which came as no surprise since they were made using fruit from the restaurant's adjoining farm. To wash it down we ordered an apple cider slushy which was thick with flavor. Again, no surprise, as there is an apple orchard on the farm. We were so stuffed that we joyfully took about half of the food home with us! I've enjoyed barbecue for a number of decades, including down in Memphis, and I must say that this no-frills restaurant with outdoor and indoor picnic table seating can play in the same league as some of the more renowned barbecue joints, certainly in the Capital and Hudson Valley regions. It paired perfectly with the tender, fatty ribs. When I think back on it as I am right now, I salivate. My husband also ordered their brisket sandwich (available only on Sundays), which looked just as appetizing as the ribs. The meat was cooked wonderfully medium rare with a charred exterior and a slightly pink interior. My husband ate that heartily. It was one of our favorite bites of the trip. I'm envious of my past self for enjoying that meal while I sit here now, craving it but unable to have it again.

It's a family-run operation and everyone there is nice including the young woman who took our order. The farm themed restaurant was very busy when we stopped in on a Sunday afternoon. It was too late for lunch and too early for dinner but plenty of customers were apparently in sync with our schedule. There've been some upgrades to the decor since I last visited a few years ago. It seems they've added a fireplace at one end of the restaurant and a large farm themed play area for kids on the opposite end. There's even a taproom. So I stopped in and they have delicious burgers and shakes. Tonight I tried the rodeo burger with fries. It was a smash burger on a brioche bun with Swiss cheese, onion ring, and BBQ sauce. Served with fries and a small vanilla shake. Now their ice cream is fresh. The milk comes from the dairy farm across the street. Also they serve craft beer from Hudson's Upper Depot. This is definately a spot in Columbia county everyone should try.
