Let me start by saying, these are some of the most friendly and caring folks I have ever encountered in the restaurant business. Of course, the food is excellent, and they are always creating new and exciting food dishes. While seafood is their specialty, it doesn't stop there... not by a long shot. They offer new creations almost every week and they range from new creative side dishes, main courses, to deserts. Their deserts are absolutely delicious so give them a try. Now back to their service. They are all very personable and after a few visits they knew my name. I am always treated special even after I've been served, they will always walk by and ask if I need anything else. In conclusion, give Wharf Casual Restaurant a try. Not so hungry on a busy family day. Went to one of my parents' favorite local restaurants. The Wharf Casual Seafood has many seafood options. Got a couple of plates of mahi-mahi blackened with hushpuppies and a side. I got garlic green beans. My parents had the salad. Ask for the creamy Greek dressing. It is so good. Great with the fish and the salad. (It also helped as the mahi-mahi was a bit dry.) The strawberry lemonade is served in a tall frosted mug. So cute. So refreshing. Love the fresh strawberries and sliced lemons. We sat outside at first, but then moved quickly inside as it poured rain. Thank you also for the slices of red velvet cake. What a sweet treat to cap off a nice weekend meal with the family. Parking is easy. The restaurant is cute and cozy. Can't say enough, good things about this place! Took our three kids here, to enjoy some seafood, and honestly weren't expecting much. My husband and I are visiting family in Tallahassee and we wanted to grab some lunch. We're trying to eat a little more healthy and I refrain from eating meat (other than seafood). We looked at quite a few casual restaurants and the majority were selling brunch still or the only food options for me were a simple veggie salad. We chose here as a last resort feeling frustrated and defeated but was pleasantly surprised by the quality of food. The people working here were very kind, the prices were reasonable, they had a good selection of craft beer and cane sugar sodas. My husband got the combo with fried mullet, fried oysters, cheese grits and green beans. They gave him 13-15 delicious oysters. (I had a few and I'm not even an oyster person!) my husband grew up in the south and use to eat mullet like that as a kid and said it was very similar to how his grandmother use to make it. read more

We've been here a few times before. It's typically decent and not over the top expensive. Tonight's experience shows that whether is due to dealing with inflation or declining standards, things may be changing for the worse. I love big platters of seafood. Getting to sample different types of seafood is what I enjoy, so I went with the Wharf Platter with the add-on side of 6 fried oysters. I had cheese grits and Cole slaw as sides. The fried oysters were pretty dark and tasted like the oil was needing to be changed. The shrimp are much smaller than they used to be, and the catfish filet was cut in half (and apparently all you get it half!). The coleslaw was okay, but the cheese grits were watered down and tasted weird. For the price, I'm not too happy with the food quality or portion. My wife had the Shrimp Entree and she's been here far more than I have an kept commenting on how the quality is very different than before. Apparently the prices have gone up a bit too. Service was super good and everyone there is really nice. I just wish the food standards would stay high, even if it meant even higher prices, because I care more about getting good food versus 2-3 more dollars per entree. read more

I took my father out for lunch in March, 2025. We started with the scrumptious loaded fried green tomatoes and fried oysters cooked to perfection. My father had the shrimp platter with smashed potatoes and I had the yummy Gouda cheese grits and more oysters. Everything was delicious and very reasonably priced. I had an appointment Wednesday in town and my friend and I found Wharf on Bannerman. I'd been to one of the other locations and have had many plates from the truck that used to come to Monticello, so I already knew we were in for a treat. It's set up a little different from what you'd normally be used to, but it worked out just fine once we figured it out. You go look at the menus in a couple different places to find what you want and order at the counter. We ordered a couple of the lunch specials. We were both extremely happy with our food and anyone that likes a loaded potato, the little bits of sausage they you instead of bacon bits...oh my goodness are they delicious! The woman working was very nice and checked on us several times and I'm assuming one of the chef's in the back even came to check to make sure everything was good. As a matter of fact, the food exceeded my expectations, even though I'd had their food before. It just threw me off a little ordering at the counter. But now that I know what to expect, I'll gladly order wherever they'd like me to! Restaurant was very clean and quiet, but business was picking back up for the dinner crowd before we left. Wharf Express is our neighborhood go-to for seafood. Lunch for one of us today was their new version of Greek salad and for the other, the lobster roll special, accompanied by collard greens. EARLY'S GREEK Lettuce Mix, Pickled Onions, Potato Salad, topped with Greek Salsa. The dressing is house made. Add blackened shrimp. For a perfect meal. We like the petite for lunch and the regular size for dinner. It was excellent. Our other dish was the lobster roll special. I am not a lobster roll expert, so I can't vouch for authenticity, but this was a delish knife and fork sandwich. It was pleasantly seasoned and had a nice amount of lobster meat chunks in it. The roll was toasted and crispy. I chose the collard greens for my side because I love their collards. Wharf Express is a great choice for an affordable seafood meal. It's a cute space with good indoor and outdoor seating. Staff is always friendly. Service usually prompt - if they are busy there can be a little wait. But it's always worthwhile. read more

Me and the family came here and had mixed feelings around the table. You order when you arrive then sit down and wait for the food. The speed was subpar for the amount of people sitting inside. We didn't mind waiting though because we did notice a decent amount of people getting carry out orders so they get a pass on that. I'm my side was me and my lovely girlfriend where we had the crispy chicken po-boy and the salmon cakes and were very pleased with our orders. The flavor was great and the portions were perfect. On the other side of the table, where my girlfriends parents sat, there was a lot of troubles. The mother got the Greek salad which was supposed to have potato salad in it and it was missing. This wouldn't be such a problem if this style of dining wasn't in play. There isn't anyone walking around so it's not the easiest to get anyone's attention. But once we did they were super nice about it and got her the potato salad. The father got a salmon poboy and had an issue with the amount of meat in the sandwich. And lettuce and tomato sandwich isn't the best tasting when your wanting salmon. Overall not a bad experience just not the best. Two clients brought me here for lunch and I was honestly blown away at how good it was. I know that I had seen this business name before and the friendly lady at the register said that yes, they had a few locations in both Florida and southern Alabama. How this works is that you order and pay at the register and they give you a number and you find a table and they bring you your food. I opted to go with their blackened mahi mahi basket with collard greens. The friendly lady asked if I wanted tartar sauce or cocktail sauce. I opted for the tartar, though one in my party opted for both with his grilled shrimp. The food was brought to us in a relatively quick time and I will also say that the restaurant has a great casual ambiance. It was bright, spacious and inviting. My blackened mahi mahi was very good, as were the collard greens. In the basket they gave me two pieces of fish and a portion of collard greens. There were also hush puppies. The pricing was more than fair, I believe my entree was about thirteen dollars. My two clients had similar price points. I did see that they had grouper, I believe that was about fifteen. Definitely the next time that I am up there, I will try the grouper. This was a great experience. A great place for lunch and it is located in a mall with plenty of parking and plenty of restaurants to choose from. I will give this place my recommendation and give it five stars. I have been craving fried oysters. The smell upon entering was heavenly. There was a line that moved quickly. I ordered the oyster basket with fries and hush puppies. The restaurant was extremely clean. It looked brand new. I happily seated myself and placed my number up for the staff to locate me for my food service. In a blink of an eye, my oyster basket was delivered to me. It was hot. The hush puppies are crazy good. So good that I crave them walking around in my everyday life. The service was a bit slow, but mostly friendly. Our meals were decent, not delicious. The fish, definitely not fresh, and the hush puppies were cold and a bit hard. Then there are the cheese grits... a cold blob of very smoky and way too cheesy goo....they were not at all to my taste, frankly awful. However, the Salad was very good.
