THE BEST FRIED CHICKEN in The Colony/Plano. My boyfriend and I love fried drumsticks and so we ordered some and they were delicious! Perfectly cooked and seasoned very well. Be prepared to wait a LONG time for your food. Small restaurant, 2-3 staff members and they are very busy. For reference: was told my to go order would take 30 minutes and it took 1 hr 18 minutes. The wait is worth it cuz these are juicy, delicious wings but would prefer an honest estimate so I don't get there too early. Also, my last order of 24 wings was missing 2 wings. Very disappointing considering the long wait and well we paid for 24 not 22 wings. That said, the staff is nice and the wings are delicious. This place is bomb! Hands down! The food, the people and the environment. The only reason that they didn't get 5 stars is because of the fact that if you go to any place in Chicago you get a gang of fries with your meal and the portion sizes are huge. I can understand the portions not being as large as Chicago due to rent or other business factors that may be different than that in Chicago, but the fries should be a automatic. This makes things kinda pricey, but its good so I don't mind paying. They also have several specials that you can get on different days of the week as well. The owner she is really sweet and I really loved patronizing their business when I was was working in the area. I told several of my co workers about them and they ordered as well. They have mastered the seasoning, batter and frying technique and the seasoning is absolutely Delicious. The only thing missing is the automatic fries that accompany all entrees in Chicago. AMAZING quality chicken ALWAYS fresh and the mild sauce out of bounds not to mention the owner is by far the sweetest lady you'll ever meet. Was craving fried chicken and decided to give this place a try. I ordered the combo meal with tilapia, breast and wing--including an order of onion rings. My husband and I came here for a Saturday lunch. There were 6 other families there so needless to say they were busy. From ordering to when we were served it was about 20 minutes. Stopped by this place as I saw the rave reviews on a Black Owned Businesses page on Facebook and wanted to show my support. Overall friendly staff and nice establishment, but the food was not all that great. Since I wanted my wife and I to try a little bit of everything, I ordered a 4 piece chicken, small order of gizzards, chicken tenders, and 12 piece party wings - 6 Chicago mild and 6 lemon pepper. First the good - the chicken tenders were pretty good, and were quite delicious. My wife is a tender connoisseur, so she gave them her seal of approval. Now, the not so good - I have to agree with another reviewer who stated that the chicken was over cooked. In my case, both the chicken and the gizzards were overcooked, the gizzards especially were hard to chew. I love gizzards, and usually I get them from Chicken Express (which are usually on point) so I wanted to love these as well, but was pretty disappointed. I think I'll stick to Chicken Express gizzards as they're usually on point AND they give you gravy with your order. The ones at What's Cluckin are gizzards only, no sauce or anything. The wings were ok, but underwhelming. The Chicago Mild were more sweet than spice, granted this is my first time having this flavor so I'm not sure if this is how they're supposed to taste. The lemon pepper were waaaay over seasoned and salty, although the one or two that weren't over seasoned were pretty good. I wasn't a fan of no ranch included, not sure if this is only provided at an extra cost as I would've gladly ordered some had I known, or if it was missed, but we didn't get any. The seasoning they provide on the side was pretty good. My understanding is that this is a fairly new establishment, so I'm sure they're working out the kinks. I'd definitely like to try them again sometime in the distant future, but for now 3 stars is a fair review in my opinion. read more

By far the best fried chicken I've had in 40 years living in Dallas. Great hot and almost as good cold the next day - buy more than you need. We tried the catfish on our second run and it was outstanding - breading was crisp, not greasy. Our brains were much bigger than out stomachs and we had leftover filets. Reheated them in the over and they didn't lose their crust, it crisped up perfectly again and was really good. Good sides - though skip the fries and go with tots.
