What didn't work for me: The decoration alone is where this stopped feeling like a Hawaiian restaurant. The Hawaiian plates felt more Asian inspired rather than true Hawaiian inspired. The flavor is excellent, don't get me wrong, but I felt it was a bit of an identity crisis. The Beef BBQ short rib pieces were fatty and overcooked. I had only a few tender bites of beef but the rest was so chewy and fatty that I had to spit it out. Also only had 6-7 pieces of short rib for a $20 plate which I didn't really feel was worth it. The chicken katsu was crispy however I didn't care for the quality of the chicken meat. It was very stringy and tough to bite through in some areas. I was very much looking forward to the macaroni salad but it was just fine. I had high hopes for this one but it just wasn't creamy enough to blow me away. I also noticed that not just the biryani, but their other menu items are very reasonably priced. Definitely planning to go back and try more.
