    Garage full of furniture.
    T C.

Chris & Matt were very easy to work with. In advance of having our hardwood floors refinished and the interior of our house painted, they moved all furniture. Everything had to come off the wood floors from kitchen, breakfast area, dining room, living room, hallway etc. They also moved furniture away from walls in other rooms so trim could be cleaned and then painted. Both men were very conscientous of our belongings and treated them with great care. All furniture, refrigerator and gas stove were carefully placed in our garage. As serious as they were with moving carefully and quickly they both have a friendly & approachable demeanor. Answering questions and keeping it light made for an enjoyable experience. I look forward to having them back to move us back in and would easily recommend them for your upcoming move, whether that's to the garage, across town or across the country.

They finished packing all my things in 1.5 hours.

They also stopped on the way at a furniture store and picked up additional furniture. Drove to my new location and unloaded everything in less than 2 hours. Travis is an absolute professional and strategic in placing items in the truck to maximize usage. Bruce is a joy and charming as charming can be. Quan is an absolute gentleman and wrapped everything meticulously. These guys are awesome. I could not have made this move without them.

We chose Safe & Sound because of the company's stellar Yelp reviews and its average Yelp rating when compared to other moving companies in the Triangle. Safe & Sound seemed like a safe bet and I'm happy to report that it was. We moved from a two-bedroom apartment to a two-bedroom condo. We added on: (1) a stop to drop off furniture at my parents' house in High Point, North Carolina and (2) haul-away of some items in Atlanta. The total cost for everything was $4,075, broken down as follows: * 2 movers + equipment, loading in Chapel Hill (1 hour, minimum) - $155 * 2 movers + equipment, loading in Chapel Hill (0.5 hour, additional time required) - $77.50 * 2 movers + equipment, unloading in High Point (1 hour, minimum) - $155 * 2 movers + equipment, unloading in Atlanta (1 hour, minimum) - $155 * Deposit for travel and truck - $50 * Haul-away (junk removal) of double mattress, double box spring, bed frame, one standard dining room chair, and torchiere floor lamp - $125 * Remainder of balance for travel - $2,875 * Additional cost/payment - $182.50 * Tip for mover 1 - $150 * Tip for mover 2 - $150 A $485 total deposit was due upfront to secure the reservation. We asked for the movers to show up at a specific date and time. We paid the $485 total deposit 26 days in advance with a credit card. The rest ($3,590) was paid via multiple Zelle transactions after we arrived in Atlanta. In hindsight, I think I may have overpaid $50 because the $50 deposit for the travel and truck was included in our $485 total deposit. I believe that same $50 was included in the remainder of the balance for travel. In other words, I think the $2,875 above should have been $2,825, but I could be wrong. Also, in my stress and exhaustion from the move, I forgot what the additional cost/payment of $182.50 was for. It made sense at the time, when I signed the form ("Uniform Household Goods Bill of Lading - 35 Miles or Less") after the move was complete. I was just happy it was over and that my wife, the movers, and I all made it safely to Atlanta in three separate vehicles on moving day. I do think all of the costs could have been communicated more clearly in writing for our understanding. Money aside, as for the move itself, it generally went well. We scheduled a 9:00-10:00am arrival window for the movers. This was on a Wednesday. We were packed and ready to go at 9am. Unfortunately, the movers were delayed and showed up around 10:45am. They arrived in a 26-foot white Penske truck. It's my understanding they rented it that morning. While it was overkill for the amount of stuff we had, I believe it was the best available truck at the time. It looked new. The movers were Hamza (lead) and Sula. They were great. Very kind and polite. These were young guys in their early 20s. They both wore Safe & Sound T-shirts. They worked hard, quickly and carefully wrapping and protecting our queen mattress and furniture with stretch wrap and blankets, and moving all sorts of heavy boxes and miscellaneous items (e.g., my awkward and heavy standing desk system, computer monitor, office chair mat, torchiere floor lamp, vacuum cleaner) from our third-floor apartment with no elevator on a hot summer day. At the loading site, we treated them to cold Gatorades. It took them about 1.5 hours to do the load in Chapel Hill. We left Chapel Hill around roughly 12:30pm. Hamza ran the show. We made it clear which items were to be dropped off first in High Point and which items were going all the way to Atlanta. No issues there. My parents were very happy with Hamza and Sula's work at the unload in High Point. The two made it to Atlanta around 10:00pm and the unload in Atlanta took less than an hour. Long day. My wife and I made it to Atlanta earlier - around 7:30pm. Unlike Hamza and Sula, we did not stop in High Point. We wanted to get to Atlanta before them so we could get the condo ready for the unload. It worked out. Hamza told me they were going to try and drive back to Raleigh/Cary that night! Only one of our items, a shoe rack, was damaged. All things considered, not a big deal so I didn't bring it up. I can remember three other moves I did with three other moving companies and one item was damaged in each move. It happens. For the haul-away, I only mentioned the mattress and box spring. I added on the other items when I saw them in Atlanta. They didn't charge me extra for that, which I appreciate and must mention here. I sent the tips directly and individually to Hamza and Sula for a job well done. As for scheduling and payment, my wife and I communicated with Jaber (a.k.a. Omar), the owner of Safe & Sound Moving Company. Jaber was on top of everything and quick to respond via Yelp messaging, text messaging, and phone calls. Thank you, Jaber, Hamza, and Sula!

I searched and found Raleigh Moving Company and they had some really good reviews. I called and was very pleased to find that they had availability this weekend. Johnny and his team, Travis and James, showed up on time and were both personable and very efficient with their work. They were careful with all the pieces (there were some older pieces of furniture that needed to be handled with care). In one case a bolt & washer unscrewed from the stand they had been on, but they found them on the truck for us. They were also very fast with both the loading and unloading of the truck which was great since we all had to drive back to the Triangle from Charlotte. Overall it was a pleasure working with Johnny, Travis & James. I would highly recommend them if anyone is looking for a moving company in the Triangle.

THEN... they offered to send one person early in the evening but we would have to pay! THEY MADE SEVERAL MISTAKES AND WOULD NOT HELP US. I had to run to Lowe's and buy a tool to get them out plus all new screws. They lost a shelf in our big tv unit, I'm not sure how, but it looks horrible now having 3 shelves and missing 1. But that isn't even half of what happened on my moving day. They showed up with an extra guy and a massive truck, GREAT! Well I go upstairs in my sons room only to see 1 mover sitting down on my boxes, he had opened my sons bedroom window and was vaping inside my home, in my child's room! Yes, I ran downstairs and told his boss and he said he would tell him to quit. An hour later I'm walking past my sons bathroom and this same mover is sitting on my sons toilet, pants down, door wide open (to get some light in because Duke shut the power off about 30 minutes prior) and he was having exploding diarrhea... yep, you could hear it and smell it. I ran down to tell his boss know what was going on. When the guy finally came downstairs he said he was sick so he went outside to rest. He came back in 30 minutes later and said he was ok. Mind you I never once saw him wash his hands. I asked him to please go clean the toilet and well, let's just say it turns out he didn't. Anyhow everything is now loaded and they're leaving, they didn't even tell me. I rush throughout the house to make sure they got everything and all was good, I was literally sprinting. They leave and I head to my new home to meet them. Well they didn't show up. I called them and the guy that had the exploding diarrhea needed to go to the ER, oh goodness! At this point I did call their office and let the office manager or maybe she was the big boss know what all had transpired and that they were at the Hospital... she had no idea. I did ask for a discount on my move! So they show up about 1.5 hours later without the sick guy and got the job done. However the boss that was with the moving crew proceeded to make me feel bad that I called their boss to let them know about everything, is this a joke?!? He even said to me yeah I heard you even asked for a discount. You better believe I did!!!They did take $200 off my final bill. So a couple of days later I get a call from my landlord at my last home I had just moved out of that the second bath (my sons) toilet was covered in poop. She was livid because her new tenant was moving in. I had to scramble to find cleaners day of, thank God I did. Anyhow that cost me $150 because I only had them clean the bathroom pretty much so I did let Branch Out know and the did reimburse me for the cleaners. Holy cow what an absolute NIGHTMARE! I get that no one can help that they are sick, but vaping in a home you're working in, let alone in a 9 year olds room! Then going poop with the door wide open I just cannot. The whole thought of it all gives me so much anxiety to this day!! I honestly never want to hire movers again!!!!!

It caused us some inconvenience when they said they won't be able to unload and unpack same day. So we spent the night without any furniture, clothes, or anything for the kitchen. As it was all stored overnight in their truck. The crew of 6 were friendly, did their work and hustled. They were responsive to our needs and always polite. We appreciated that. However what didn't work well for us is that we lost a cabinet in the move that they dropped and it got damaged! Post the move we also spotted a few prominent damages to our furniture like a full chip off our brand new mango wood breakfast table, a rip near the leg of our living room loveseat. Chips off night stands. And skid marks near the door trimming and hardwood Floors. The prominent one was the sliding door new closet cabinet that we just cannot use because of the crack and breakage at the top and back entirely. They need to take better care with the move especially when the crew changes hands to finish the job. And if you're considering them make sure you double check and verify how long will it take and cost upfront. We were told one thing and what ended up happening was different.

When I called and booked, I gave a description of what I had for furniture (2 beds, 2 tvs, couch, coffee table, 2 end tables, a small desk and boxes & bins. I was told that it sounded like It would be a couple hour move. The distance between locations is only three minutes. They arrived at my prior address at 8:30, and got started at 8:45. They did not finish unloading at the new address until 3:30. The two guys were nice enough, but I should have known from the minute they started, that there would be issues. One of the guys was complaining right off the bat about his job, his boss, etc. And would also just start conversations instead of loading up the truck. The other guy, had a bad back. So I can understand going a little slow, but how does that become my issue and having to pay more because they were going slow? They didn't seem to start picking up the pace Until I started to ask how much longer they were going to be. Another thing, one of them used the bathroom and didn't even flush. And a bigger issue, Was that I had a stepstool go missing. It was with all of the stuff to be loaded onto the truck, and it never made it to my new address. Which is really disappointing. I did end up tipping both of them, because it was hot, but honestly, I kind of regret that. The move cost me $1300. I will never recommend this company. This move should've taken half the time that it did. Really disappointed. Never again.
