Grest mix of spices! Great prices! Love it! Sometimes they are short staffed but other than that great food

This is our first time here. The ambiance is nice. They are short staff, so it was hard to get their attention when we needed something. We order a dozen raw oyster, blooming onion, and sweet potatoes fried for appetizers. Sweet potato fries were hot and crunchy. The booming onion was raw. We could see the white batter at the bottom of the onion. They forgot about our oysters. We reminded them. We got the oysters last. Crawfish was $13/lb. We understand it's still early in the season, but they were smaller than other places that we have been. The crawfish was not clean. We could taste the muddy taste. Their sauce is not as spicy. I usually do a medium at other places. We tried their spiciest sauce, but it's not spicy to me. We understand that restaurants are having a hard time with staff right now, so we understand the slow service. However, if they have their menu price that high, we expect a better quality of food. Unfortunately, they didn't deliver it tonight. We could just drive 10 more minutes to other restaurants where we can get $8/lb crawfish with much better taste and experience. We ate there with a large group of 8 adults and three children. Some hits some misses and a lot of mismanagement. Starts with ownership and management in front and back of house. All is a big cluster due to the fact that management seems clueless. So aggravating when you hand over $300 for a meal. I called ahead to see if they could handle a large party I at 6pm. The woman said ok, took my name and number. We arrived and a couple came out muttering. I asked how their meal was. "Slow service, cold food, $200, wont be back." Another group came out and asked them. Only one said her food was great the rest just said service sucked. Entered the restaurant. It's a nice space. No one up front. Finally someone came up and started putting our table together. Why are you blasting music with explicit lyrics with kids here? I'm already getting angry at the poor floor management and lack of organization. The other parties arrive and we get arranged. Our server brings five menus for eleven folks; not even one for each adult. Manager I'm talking to you. You are responsible for training your folks. Don't open if you're not ready. There is no floor manager walking the floor at anytime during our meal, ever. It's a new place and no one even came and asked how our f'n expensive meal was. There is NO excuse for lousy customer service. Back to the menu. It is more a list on many dishes. There's no whiteboard of todays availabilities, sources, and market prices, nor an addendum sheet to accompany the menu. Aggravating. The server knew little about the food. You're out of fried cornbread but have hushpuppies. What is the difference? No response but "we're out of fried cornbread". Out of blue crabs. The market pricing of seafood was very high. Just ate crawfish at Nate's in Addison last week and $9.95 for certified Louisiana crawfish. Here: $13.99 a pound and she couldn't tell me if they were American or Asian crawfish. She also quoted different prices around the table but it was so loud others couldn't hear. Ownership: folks want to know the source of their seafood; it's kind of a basic customer expectation these days. Where are your f'n oysters from? Are they all from a tub? The fact we were a party of 11 on Saturday night compelled us to stay. No fried corn bread so this group which I've seen hammer down a dozen appetizer plates for 8 adults ordered a single order of fried green tomatoes. $10 for a single sliced tomato, battered nicely in cornmeal. Needed salt and seasoning....oh crap, no salt or pepper on the table, and even though server knew we were sharing, a single plastic fork presented with the paper boat. This should be $5 at most, and the "creamed corn sauce" wasn't; just some canned corn kernels sprinkled on top. No oysters because no one knew where they were from. Just were told.."jumbo size". Nope. I had expectations of a feast of blue crabs, crawfish, oysters, and shrimp as I was the host. One guest want snow crabs and balked at $40 a pound. She ordered fried catfish and shrimp. A "platter". Ownership: a platter indicates use of a "plate". A fried protein with fries in a cardboard box indicates it is a "basket". A platter should have two sides. This is the only fried seafood place I've eaten at in 63 years without cole slaw. Also you put some kind of seasoning on the fries with no indication; it contains sugar which gets on the seafood which everyone at the table complained about. So instead of a big feast we had 4 Fried shrimp "platters", one with sweet potato fries, a fried catfish "platter", the afore mentioned catfish and shrimp. A fried shrimp po' boy, a pound of crawfish, garlic noodles with crawfish tails, and an order of red beans and rice. Noticing they have blackened catfish, I asked for an order of blackened shrimp. Server basically laughed and said she'd never heard of it. I said to check with the chef she just said they didn't have. The fried shrimp are large, flavorful, perfectly battered and fried and the order is generous. The shrimp are perfectly cleaned. A problem with one of these baskets was it came with regular fries instead of the requested sub of sweet potato fries; the server brought out a order of them...and charged me $6...arghh. The fried catfish was perfect as well.very good quality fish. Fries were great except for the seasoning. The crawfish were well seasoned and huge. The best item was the fried shrimp po boy. Loaded with shrimp, perfect French bread, and loaded. The garlic noodles with crawfish were very good. The biggest disappointment was the red beans and rice; not good; the beans poorly cooked and oddly seasoned with spices more reminiscent of pho. So in the end, most of the food we ate was very good but crazy overpriced. The issues are almost all in service and management, but unless this restaurant hires a strong involved front of house manager, it is doomed to fail. read more

First off the food was great but... I had a pretty bad experience with service. I got to my table fine host was good but my waiter was a pretty un-attentive. I ordered 1/2 lb snow crab and a catfish and shrimp combo platter. I decided to finish the crab first so so I could enjoy the other separately. So after the crab I went to wash my hands, not even in the bathroom so I couldn't have even been gone for 1-2 minutes and when I get back to my table the waiter and another person had started clearing my table. I almost didn't even get the chance to finish the food that I ordered (although the crab plate which I wasn't finished with had already been stacked with trash so I just told them to take it). If the food didn't taste so good that would have been an all in all terrible experience. read more

The food was not what I ordered. The food was cold and not good. I threw it away. I was very disappointed.

Myself and a coup of girlfriends went there think they had Happy Hour...No Happy Hour and the wait staff didn't even know what we were talking about. Please get wait staff that speak and understand English. The food was alright, but definitely overpriced. I don't think they will make it if they don't do something to accommodate their covers. There are too many restaurants in DFW that offer Happy Hour drinks and appetizers. I spent $130.00 at Happy Hour (never again) unless they change. I don't spend that much at Pappadeaux. read more

The gumbo was very good and the poor boy also is worth coming back for. We also ordered the catfish, but would not order again as it was greasy and the hush puppies were undercooked I. The center. We will be back, just not for the fish. read more

We ordered the #2 Boil, added a half pound of muscles, & the crab fries for lunch. The crab fries was real good! The boil was good, but I think it can use a bit more spice to it. There was a lot of small crawfish, but unsure if that varies. But overall it was a good place, & would go again. read more

Was very disappointed. Gumbo tasted like it was straight out of a box, even the okra in it was crunchy. Had the blackened catfish and the flavor was pretty good just such a small little metal tray that you can't put dressing on your salad without it being all over your meal. And the worst part was the waiter was more interested in fallowing around the little robot waiter that I guess he didn't even notice that I was out of tea half way through the meal. read more

Food was mediocre and very very pricy. The tab for our party of 4 was $250 which included a round of drinks. Definitely would not come back unless they had some sort of happy hour prices. The staff was super friendly but the food needs some serious help. The crawfish was salty. Raw Oysters were decent but the charbroiled oysters were tiny for being $27. New seafood spot that opened in Mansfield. I was craving oysters and after calling 5 other places near me they were the only one that had it. The oysters were very good. I also got a pound or crawfish, the fried catfish an order of the crab fries and omg fries were goooood. The catfish was huge and the breading was good. The crawfish was ok, i guess to satisfy a craving, but it was pricey at 12 dollars a pound. I wouldn't go back for the crawfish but I'd go back for the fried entrees and oysters. read more

The first time we came in it was great! But the 2nd time we came it was horrible as soon as we came in the manager already had a attitude then we ordered a bag and we asked for non spiced garlic flavor and then they still gave us spicy garlic and we told the waiter he said he was gonna change it all they did is wash the broiled bag and added garlic and gave it back to us and still was the same we told the manager about it we didn't ask for a refund or nothing We told her they just washed the bag and she was upset or had a attitude for no reason, we said it was fine but we were just warning her that we didn't order this then after she just walked off. Last time this happened they fully changed the bag then just trying to wash it off. We bought crab too and their was nothing in it was empty their was only a few that was filled, At the end of the day the total was 165 dollars for a group of 3. Never again. read more

This is my first yelp review so the experience was either amazing (NOT EVEN CLOSE) or horrific (that best describes it). We usually go to another great place in Arlington for this type of food. But I didn't feel like driving and figured lets give this place a try. Instantly we were seated which was good for Saturday. Then the nightmare began we waited over twenty minutes to see a waiter for complex drinks (sweet tea and sprite). Since we waited so long for him then we ordered everything at once. Thirty minutes later we were still waiting for the appetizer combine time 50 mins at this point. No drink refill and no appetized. finally after an hour we got appetizer but no drink refill. There were multiple tables leaving without there food which had less patience than us. So we figured that maybe this would speed up our food order up ( Piss poor chance of that). A family of four was greeted and appeared to be friends or family was seated. Mind you we have already been waiting for 70 minutes. This family received their food in less than 20 minutes (same waiter). As we sat there waiting with no drink refills and a whole lot of inattention for 90 minutes with a 1/2 full restaurant. This was when my patience expired and we left also. What A Crab was more like What a Failure or What A disappointment. I will make the drive to the Arlington restaurant in the future because the time we waited for 2 drinks and appetizer we could have drove there ,ate and been home. Unless this restaurant is 3/4 empty or you are friends or family don't expect a timely or hunger filling experience. read more

The food here is pretty good. I have no complaints about the food. Everything else, well, where do I begin? I ordered tea because they did not have Coke products. Asked for some extra lemons in a bowl for the tea. I got two lemon slices on the bottom of a plastic cup with no spoon to retrieve them, so I could squeeze them into the tea. I asked for one, and was given an extra plastic straw. I told the waitress I needed more lemons "outside" the cup, and finally got some. Then we ordered. The menu showed a $4 charge for fries, and a $3 charge for a side salad. My meal came with fries. I asked to substitute a side salad for the fries, and was told I would have to pay an extra dollar to do that. I pointed out the prices on the menu, and the lack of logic in the uncharge. I asked why they would uncharge for a less expensive item. The answer came back, "Because the cook isn't used to doing it that way." I have a hard time with irrational, illogical thinking, and my nerves were on edge from the atonal electronic music being played in the place at pretty high volume, so it was difficult to enjoy eating at that point. Fried oysters came out without tartar sauce, so I had to ask for that. However, like I said the food was fine, and probably would have tasted fine, if not for the avantgarde music, the trying to fish lemons out of the bottom of a cup with a plastic straw, and the stupidity of owners trying to extract $1 more from a customer for an item that cost $1 less on the menu. I doubt I will go back. There are just too many other places with less hassles. read more
