Hubby has wanted to try this place for awhile and we finally made it. Why did we wait so long? Friendly and helpful service at the counter. Hubby got the lunch special of fried fish and shrimp and I got the fried shrimp along with a cup of shrimp gumbo. All of the food was delicious! The gumbo had generous portions of shrimp and sausage, some rice and a yummy broth. Shrimp were cooked perfectly, along with the fish and not greasy at all. You get hush puppies and fries and the fries are really good. They also have po'boy sandwiches, chicken and lots of other selections. The restaurant is big, clean and they have a lovely water view and nice outdoor patio. You have to try this place! read more

I actually tried the shrimp etouffee and it was excellent. It had a little spice which was flavorful. The service was great, lots of smiles and quick service. I JUST HAD TO UPDATE MY REVIEW‼‼ I'm here at least once a week for sure , especially during the crawfish season. A couple of them are familiar with me and my car when I come thru the drive thru because how frequently I come. You simply can't beat their Tuesday & Thursday 5 lbs crawfish bucket , extra spicy for me please. When I first started coming , I didn't like that my potatoes were never whole but I now understand and appreciate the way they serve them , as they soak up all the great butter flavor the way they prepare and serve them. I recently got to try the crab fingers , those were pretty tasty too. When I'm not indulging in the 5lb crawfish bucket and switch up sometimes and get the ULTIMATE COMBO ( 2 lb. Crawfish, 1/2 lb. Peeled OR Shell-on Shrimp, 1 Snow Crab Cluster, 1 Red Potato, 1 Corn on the Cob, 1 Red Sauce & 1 Butter Sauce). I swap my red sauce out for another butter sauce and I often have to add a sausage link or two and another potato and all for just $35, it's such a great deal. The wait is never too long regardless of how long the lines look, they really get you in and out, all while being so friendly. As much as I come to this restaurant I still haven't had the opportunity to dine in and enjoy the view of the beautiful lake that it sits on. It's definitely on my to do list.. Note, before coming we had the impression that it was a restaurant that sat you down. It gave me like "fast food" sea food type of vibe. If that makes sense? They do have a drive thru as well which would be convenient for a lot of reasons. We places our order at the counter, they give you a pager thing to tell you when your foods is ready. You have to get everything yourself (utensils, etc. which in my opinion if you're paying close to $100 they could at least offer that but I mean no big deal). I did think it was cool that they have a trash bucket in the middle of the table. We got the chicken platter with fried shrimp on the side, the shrimp basket, and the peeled ultimate combo. Let's start with the chicken, it wasn't super crispy and it was coasted perfectly so you can enjoy. The fries also had a good seasoning. The shrimp plate came either 5 shrimp (this was the small I believe because the large came with 10) and it came with fries as well. They shrimp were jumbo shrimps and I almost forgot it had hush puppies. I love hush puppies but I feel they could possibly be a little bigger. But it did come with 4. The ultimate combo wasn't bad. There were some things to discuss. First off , I wish it came in a bag. This one came in a foam takeout plate. Which I guess if you're going on the go it's not bad. Also, I wish it gave you spice level, Like some places ask you if you want it spicier etc. This combo has 2lb of crawfish, snow crab, potatoes, corn, shrimp, and we added some sausage to it too. My husband said the best thing was the crab. The crawfish could have been better and the shrimp a little bigger. The one thing I wish was different were the potatoes. I like when they're mini potatoes instead of a big one. Overall, it wasn't too bad and we would consider coming back. The sizes weren't too bad either. The lady taking our order was also really nice so we appreciate that. *NOTE: I was advised that they do not boil their crawfish in just water.* I initially expected a traditional crawfish boil, the usual fare. When we got home, we placed the leftover crawfish, corn, and potatoes in a boiling bag, added the seasonings that Te'jun provided, and shook it all up. This method exceeded my expectations. Overall, I appreciated both flavors: the clean taste of the crawfish on their own, which allowed their freshness to shine, and the added flavor from the Te'jun seasonings. Love it here! Great spot for after church lunch and the kids get to feed the fish and enjoy lots of options from the menu. Used to love coming here now it's gone so far downhill that I would not recommend anyone wasting their time or money here. Walk in and they are just blasting rap music at a high volume then go to order and they wouldn't let you order crawfish while it was cooking was told to stand to the side and wait for 20 minutes then could come and order. Why you can't just ring in the order and fill it as it's cooked is just beyond incompetence. So decided to wait just for them to be out of pretty much all drinks. So got a refund and left. Although this was a drive for me because I live on the t totally on the other side of town. However, I was not disappointed once I arrived for the longest Big Shucks was my favorite crawfish place in Dallas . Now I found me another spot in red Oak. I was serviced by the manager on a beautiful Saturday afternoon, she explained the process and all the delicious menu items I was spectacle of their crawfish. Extra Tajun seasonings on each table right along side the Tabasco, is my favorite decor. Sprinkle on extra seasonings or Tabasco if extra spice is your thing. Restaurant is clean and inviting. Went here the weekend of Easter the set up of the restaurant is nice but the organization on the way they do their orders was horrible if you wanted crawfish which was the special for that day and they wasn't available you had to get out of line wait until they cook more and then get back in line at this point your competing with other customers and the drive thru before they run out again it was a complete waste of my time and that's what I went there for I left and went to another seafood restaurant read more

We've been here several times now. So I feel that I can give an honest review. The fact I've been here several times ought to tell you a little bit about that! Every time we get the large fish and shrimp combo which satisfies my fried seafood craving with no problem. It's very tasty freshly done and simply have no complaints. My wife has had the Monday crab leg special, which she raves about! The only thing preventing me from giving it five stars is the absence of beer. Confused, I called the restaurant, thinking maybe they had forgotten to clean my food. But no--the manager proudly informed me that they "don't clean the crabs because they're fresh." Oh, okay. So fresh means I get a side of ocean grime with my meal? Delicious! But the real kicker? The manager's customer service strategy was to channel their inner stand-up comedian--right before delivering the punchline of hanging up on me! All he could say was that he's been doing this for 29 years. Well, if nearly three decades of experience means serving dirty seafood and treating customers like an inconvenience, then congratulations--I guess that's an accomplishment? At this point, their unofficial slogan might as well be: "We don't care about your health or your business." So if you're craving a meal that doubles as a marine biology lesson, this is your spot. Otherwise, I'd recommend dining somewhere that actually values food safety--and its customers. EVERY PIECE WAS COVERED in barnacles, and it was disgusting. The staff were super friendly and helpful even though they accepted no tips! It shows that they're genuinely like that and it was awesome. The food was very flavorful and, for Texas, it was pretty fresh:) I grew up eating lobster that was caught right before dinner so I don't usually eat it here, but I did get the Cajun double (lobster & shrimp) plate and they did it well! I would order it again. My husband got the shrimp and sausage and he also loved it. The decor was eclectic sea style mixed with Scripture verses and it was a very peaceful yet busy & well run environment! We drive by Te'Jun all the time and finally stopped in and gave it a try. We really loved our experience. They have a great patio area and pond behind Te'Jun that people were fishing at and families out enjoying the weather. The food was good, but the cajun rice was a little soggy but my husband loved it and still ate it. Lots of seating inside as well. The staff was friendly and helpful. A lot of the tables have bible versus on them, which i thought was neat. There was a pretty large parking lot as well and a drive thru! read more

The employees who work here are very polite and respectful towards you and are constantly checking up on you. It also had very beautiful view outside of a pond which I found very relaxing. We live only a few miles from Red Oak's Pearson Park. The City Library is there, a playground and a pond with friendly ducks that everyone enjoys and feeds. It was this beautiful setting that Red Oak offered up to this already established business for the opening of a restaurant here. I have mixed feelings about the design. The massive barn like interior with high ceilings must be like eating in a crowded gym when they're busy. Rows and rows of tables with what are possibly two party rooms at one end. Very utilitarian. You enter and walk to the other end and crane your neck and head up to read a fairly complicated menu high up on a wall. You order at the counter, pay and wait for your name to be announced over the intercom to go back and pick up your order. It's totally self-serve. We had already done some reconnaissance and they had a lunch menu when we took a walk through here not long ago. The lunch menu has been discontinued; but I ordered a Catfish Po'Boy, which was still on the menu. My husband did the same. I recommend familiarizing yourself with the menu before you go. It might be easier. It was weird when I found out that the Po'Boy came with Lettuce, Mayo AND Remoulade and a Mango Pico de Gallo though. I'm guessing that's supposed to be the Texas spin on it; but I really wanted the classic tomato and slaw or lettuce with possibly pickle, too. (There wasn't enough of the pico on the sandwich to make much of a difference as it turned out.) But it was Pico or nothing. They didn't have tomatoes or pickle, I was told. How do they make their Pico without tomato or tartar sauce without pickle? I didn't feel like picking an argument so I didn't ask. Since our first dining visit was mid-afternoon on a weekday, we had the pick of seating inside and out. It was a beautiful day and we chose the sunny deck. Oddly, they chose tall chairs and tables for pondside, at the rail, and low tables in rows behind them. All of those seated at those many tables behind would have their view of the pond obstructed and wouldn't be able to even get up there to feed the ducks, except in crowds at each end. We had no such problems today. At 3 p.m. there was only one other family out on the deck. We bought "fish" food pellets from a gumball machine to feed the ducks while we waited for our food. It delivered a negligible amount of food for a quarter, so we spent much more. The ducks are a noisy fun bunch and highly enthusiastic participants in the feeding process. I definitely recommend it. I believe that the seafood is likely all pretty good here. I think seafood and carbs is definitely their basic formula. Don't expect much of anything green. There's no okra or green beans which is strange because there's fried mushrooms. There is coleslaw; but it's extra. This is a seafood throw down similar to a boil with corn and potato. The fried catfish in our Po'Boys was excellent. A large crispy meaty portion. The lettuce leaf was limp and uninviting, though, and there was far too much mayonnaise involved. Probably to fight all the heavy bread. I ate half my bread. But the catfish was delicious. As were the French Fries. Nicely seasoned and crisp, there was a nice enjoyable portion. And FYI - don't feed the ducks your fries. It's not recommended by Parks and Wildlife to feed them any processed foods or fried food or bread. A very sweet family of three Muscovy ducks waddled up to us on the deck and they were no trouble at all. They are as big as small dogs! Just don't feed them your fries! Te'Jun's has a well kept facility and parking lot with a drive through. There are rest rooms indoors and outdoors with a walkway to the parking lot from the deck. We enjoyed our visit overall. Next time, we might have to smuggle in some jalapeños as we can't think of eating fried seafood without them. The deck is fantastic and so close to home. Such a lovely spot for lunch. read more

We took a little road trip and on our way home decided to check out Te'Jun Texas Cajun as we had seen a few billboards while on the road and decided to see what they were about. We stopped at the Red Oak location as it was right off the highway on southbound 35 and apparently they just recently opened a few weeks prior. The place is huge but we almost couldn't tell if it was the right place because the signage isn't very large or visible, it kinda looks like a plain, small warehouse building if you don't have your GPS on. Once we got there we also noticed they have a drive through which is awesome for those who don't feel like cooking but also want some good seafood. It's very clean inside, you order at the counter and they call your name when your order is ready. Nothing fancy, straight forward and their staff was friendly and happy to answer questions and make recommendations. We sat outside because the weather was beautiful and caught a lovely sunset as well, the patio is really spacious and overlooks a pond with ducks. They even have a gumball dispenser out there with food to feed the ducks for the little ones, I think that was a really sweet idea for the kiddos. Now to our food, I got the Te'Jun Favorite which includes a lobster tail, a half pound of shrimp, corn, potato and two sauces.... So good and so filling. The lobster was cooked well and there was a ton of shrimp!! My hubster had the special which was 4 catfish strips with shrimp etouffée, corn, potato and we got a side of red beans and rice. Now I'll admit that I'm used to New Orleans red beans and rice which are creamy and thick and have some sort of smokey meat in them but these were still pretty good. I look forward to going back now that it's crawfish season, I would definitely bring friends and family next time. read more

My family ate at this restaurant recently while we were staying at a hotel in nearby Lancaster; the restaurant has a huge seating area of picnic tables , you walk up to the counter and place your order, and they buzz you when your order is ready; we arrived close to sundown, and it was very obvious because the sun was blinding us as we were trying to place our order; nobody bothered to go outside and put down the flaps of tarps that could have prevented the blinding sun from disturbing all who were in the restaurant including the kitchen staff members plating the orders. Our food was promptly prepared and although my fried fish was tasty, some of the condiments were not to my liking, the coleslaw was absolutely terrible, and the overpriced container of seasoning Salt was extremely salty, and extremely spicy. Upon driving back to Washington County, we found that there were at least two or three other of these type restaurants along interstate 35. I would like to go back and try different things because their menu is rather extensive. read more
