Listen....my 1st review for 2025 and it's trash!! My lady and I went round & round 90 million times trying to decide on a seafood restaurant to eat at for Valentine's Day. Our 1st choice didn't serve alcoholic beverages, the 2nd choice had a 30-45 min wait.....that 3rd choice is a charm is BS....because we opted to come to What The Crab!! We made that journey to Mansfield, parked, walked in....eventually got greeted & seated. We were seated for a good minute b4 our waitress acknowledged us for drink orders....we ordered our waters & once she came back, we were ready to place our orders. My lady got the 1/2 lb headless shrimp 1 cluster snow crab, sausage, corn & potato...I got 1lb of king crab ..we both ordered the what da crab seasoning mild....she took the order & went on her way!! We waited and waited a good 40+ minutes on our food. My order came out 1st shortly followed by my lady's order. My lady immediately noticed the difference in the appearance of the seasonings on our food, we stopped the waitress & she took the food over to the bar area where there were other waitstaff & they were pondering over the bag...I guess to see what the seasonings were on there...I stood up watching them to make sure they didn't open the bag & touch the food & then try to bring it back to the table!! They saw me watching & just brought the incorrect order back....we accepted., as we had waited 45 mins. The waitress kept coming over apologizing & by this time I was over it....as she had be absent a majority of our visit here. She blamed the delay due to only being 1 cook....that's fine... Communication is key tho!!!! The king crab's shell was rubbery & hard to crack into....the seafood boil my lady received had no taste & lacked seasoning....the what the crab seasoning was horrible...I literally rubbed it off & asked for another plate....as the sauce was all over the plate!! Smh.....will we be back...I won't ....food & service were horrible...too much money spent for this experience ..but if you're in the area & wanna try em out....so be it!! read more

Ignore the bad reviews, there only telling you a part of the story and whining because no one wanted to bend over sideways to there demands, they are short staffed (1 girl for 8 tables and she was hustling) and are doing what they can, Fish is fish and it's going to smell like fish deal with it and don't bash a business's rating just because 1 item wasn't up to your high standard . Our food was bomb and while it did feel pricey Taking into account where we are and what we got it makes reasonable sense. I ordered some Cajun wings from What the Crab. They were extremely salty. I called to inform the restaurant. They accused me of not being use to seasoned food. So they were rude and not accommodating. No offer to remake it and they have a no refund policy. The "no refunds" all over the restaurant should have been a red flag. read more

If you actually want tasty food, do not come here I ordered 2 pounds of snow crab with corn, boiled eggs, sausage, and potatoes. The only thing that tastes OK with the potatoes and not dipped in sauce, the sauce is absolutely disgusting. The corn was hard. The crab legs were cold and overcooked. The sausage was foul smelling, and the eggs were beyond over boiled. I also ordered garlic noodles, some gumbo and wings. I've never knew that you can make disgusting lemon pepper wings. The wings had a funny smell to them. The gumbo was as if they took their seafood sauce and just added water to it and like flour to make it thick or something because it tastes just as bad as the butter sauce. And the garlic noodles literally had just no flavor at all. I don't know where the garlic was. They pretty much just served me spaghetti noodles with granulated Parmesan cheese and some parsley. First timers here. Seasoned garlic and crab fries were awesome as an appetizer. Was looking forward to having clam chowder, but they were out(it was only 7 pm) had to settle for the cream corn chowder. Everyone's food was good and tasty. Also they were out of bloody Mary drinks again only 7 pm. Service was good. Now for the bill, price was reasonable for three people, was surprised to see that a gratuity was already included in the bill. The location is easy to get too, right off of 360 south. It's not over crowed and clean. The servers are pretty kool and check on your throughout your dining experience. After ordering your food and drinks the serving robot bring your food but the servers bring the drinks. The robot makes its way to your table, you retrieve your food and it's rolls away. I would recommend you giving this place a try. They also have good fried catfish ( real catfish ) a dinner is one large piece or two which will definitely fill you up. First Timer and probably a Last Timer. Came with a friend for dinner and was extremely disappointed. The service was good and our waiter was friendly. The place was clean, and empty. We went yesterday and it was so bad. We ordered oysters, they were ok, you can't really mess those up. But no saltines or limes or Tabasco were provided. The crawfish were not fresh the meat was almost like a paste,def an indication they weren't fresh and over cooked.The crab was over cooked as well, where the shell is no longer brittle but soft and the meat sticks to the shell. The sauce was sweet and not savory which was weird, not good at all. And finally the edamame was squishy as well, so was probably cooked a few times instead of it being steamed being firm. Overall I was very pleased with my experience here. They offer high or low table seating which I'm glad the asked. The have a full bar inside so you can order mixed drinks or beer while enjoying your meal. The lighting was great and could work for a more intimate evening. The service was friendly and helpful also. I ordered the soft shell crab as an appetizer and the blackened catfish for my main. Both were really good too! I do think the soft shell crab was a little overpriced for the quantity (2 for 15). The fish meal was pretty big though. Ended up eating half my meal and taking the other half home. Sounds like a good idea, expected a little more for the price. When the place is (almost/somewhat) full; the sound is deafening. The catfish is good. The breading on the shrimp is great. Everything tasted okay. The wait staff is spread thin & are scattered, which is understandable since it's new. I hope it gets better since it took so long with delays to open. read more

Got to dinner at 6:35 . Party of 7 ( 2 kids) . Everyone got their food at different times . Trash piled up on table with no one offering to get it out of our way . Asked for condiments waited 15 minutes for it . Food was cold at the time and mind you it was awkward eating in front of the others that are still waiting . Drinks were low. Finally waitress would come ask if we needed anything as if more than half the table didn't have food or drinks while the trash was in the way . We had to verbally ask for it to be picked up . **** WE BROUGHT OUR OWN CAKE FOR A BDAY They dropped the cake in the back . We only found out by walking past the kitchen where the cake was on the floor . No one said anything to us about it we had to ask and when asked they said they would make us a dessert and mentioned that our cake was "only $40" . During this time i had been waiting on a to go box for 30 minutes. When asked to speak to manager again it took another 25 minutes of me standing in the middle of the restaurant. When he came out not ONE word was spoken , we said we would pay for the alcohol but that's it . I tried to explain my experience in hopes to help better the company but NO eye contact NO apology ( except for under his breath when we walked away and still no to go box) he tried to hand me my box as I'm walking out the door as if i even wanted the food that's been sitting out the past HOUR. The restaurant is clean, they have robotic food delivery to your table, and the food is delicious!!! Moved to Mansfield in September and we are finally trying someone of the food in the neighborhood. We stumbled across What The Crab. They have Happy Hour 3pm-7pm that includes all beers and margaritas frozen or on the rocks! I got the mango margarita and my husband got the strawberry/mango margarita. They Couldn't Even Fake It For The Holidays. My Wife and I Went To "What A Crab" in Mansfield on 12/21/23 and Stood at The Front For About 5 Minutes Before We Just Sat Ourselves. Biggest turnoff was definitely watching the waiters pop each other's pimples behind the bar and not wash their hands afterwards. Our waiter was also not very attentive. I was in a bit of a hurry and I came here on a Sunday, we were seated and got the blooming onion thing as our appetizer, very good compares to Outback and Texas Roadhouses. It was definitely very filling. Next up they had a $25 boil back we decided to share, we added 3 eggs and an extra sausage and got it mild. We read the mixed reviews about this place, but gave it a try last night. First impression was great, spacious & simple elegant decor. All the staff was friendly. Our waiter greeted us in a matter of minutes after we were seated. We got our drinks quickly & got food within 10 minutes after we ordered. I got the blackened catfish, consisting of 2 catfish fillet over long grain white rice & a decent size salad with cheese, crouton, & ranch on side served in a pretty big metal rectangular plater. Hubby (the non-seafood eater) got the chicken platter, consisting of fried chicken strips (forgot to count b4 he started eating), 2 hush puppies, & generous portion of fries on the same rectangular metal platter. We loved the generous portions! I liked my catfish, they were cooked just right, soft with some crispy edges - it was good but could be a bit tastier. Chicken strips were ok, not spectacular. However the fries were so good! Lightly battered with seasoning, crispy on the outside, soft inside, very tasty! They have these cool robots that bring your dishes out, so servers hv more time actually interacting & paying attn to customers instead of running back & forth to kitchen, LOVE the idea! I saw that Parmesan oysters are on the menu, gotta try those next time. Everyone else seemed to really enjoy their crab boils, so gotta try those also next time. Food was very flavorful, and fresh, very pricey. Crawfish was $13lb, definitely the most priciest crawfish around. Hopefully it will go down as we get more into crawfish season. Typically by soft openings construction is done. This was not the case, was trying to enjoy a nice lunch, with conversations. Not possible with the sound of drill, and sawing. I wanted to share my review about this restaurant because it was the most unprofessional experience I've ever encountered. We placed an order and picked it up. Got home to realize the order was incorrect. We called and we were treated very badly by some young kids working there. Long story short they laughed at us when we called. They hung up repeatedly and we paid for a pound of crawfish we didn't receive and then the $16 crab fries had no cheese on it as described and were overly salted at that point, I just didn't need it. read more

I wish I could tell you how the food is, but we didn't even have a chance to eat here. Since the pandemic and subsequent shortages in staffing, I believe we all have made the effort to exercise more patience. For the first time in a long time, however, an experience with service staff had me livid. My wife and I popped in on a Saturday evening around 6 pm. Within a few minutes, the server approached our table and asked if we would like to place our drink order. As soon as she left the table, our experience began to go south. Here's the thing: we watched as our server walked to the bar, brought two other patrons to-go boxes, chat with the remainder of the staff (who were all standing behind the bar, chatting), walk in and out of the back area, and looking at her phone. Do you know what she wasn't doing? Not a water glass in sight or even attempted. We sat there for nearly ten minutes, watching her do everything but grab water glasses... which includes standing and browsing her phone. I am not prone to exaggeration and I consider myself to be understanding of the service industry, but one cannot even make the argument that the establishment nor the staff were busy. Less than half (or around half) of the available tables were occupied at the time. We finally decided that we were less than a priority, so we left. So much for taking the advice of social media; especially if that page doesn't allow negative comments about area restaurants... makes you wonder why, or about the honesty of the recommendations. By 920 we had enough and asked for our check cause we were ready to leave, our waitress magically gets our order that was no longer warm.
