A Taste of South Texas, With Room to Improve I have loved Whataburger for many years, dating back to nearly a decade of working in South Texas, where Whataburger is practically a way of life. Knowing that it originated in Corpus Christi, Texas, it has always held a special place for me. So when we heard that one was finally coming to the Chattanooga area, we were genuinely excited. When it first opened, we watched the long drive-through lines from afar and waited for things to settle down. Eventually, my wife (a native South Texan) and I visited, and later we returned with my mother. On both visits, the staff were consistently friendly, helpful, and well-staffed. The food, when fresh, tasted exactly as I remembered from Texas locations--hot, flavorful, and satisfying. In that regard, they are doing many things right. However, during our second visit with my mother, the fries were noticeably not fresh. Given the high volume and popularity, that was disappointing. My mother, in particular, was not impressed, and fresh fries are something you expect from a busy location. I also noticed some early signs of maintenance slipping. Although a staff member was attending to the dining area, the drink and napkin station was not well-kept, and the floor already looked unclean for a relatively new restaurant. These small details matter, especially when a restaurant is building its reputation. The interior seating area is smaller than what I am used to from Texas locations, but that is understandable. What matters more is consistency and cleanliness, and I hope management continues to prioritize both. Overall, I truly want this location to succeed. It brings a little piece of South Texas to our area, and when everything is fresh and running well, it is excellent. With better attention to freshness and upkeep, this could easily become one of Chattanooga's best fast-food options. read more

Finally! A Whataburger in Chattanooga. I remember trying this place in Texas when I used to travel for work. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by the cashier. I ordered the Original without tomatoes, however, I received it plain with nothing on it, but cheese. I mentioned it to the cashier and without hesitation, she got it corrected. She was really nice. The restaurant is brand new, so it was modern and clean inside. It's also one of the only fast food restaurants that is open 24/7. I received my burger after a few minutes. It was good, but it's not how I remembered it, but that's with every fast food chain nowadays. read more

I came on the inside to order at 11:19pm and didn't receive my food until 11:55pm. The employees that were getting off rung up their food and received their food before the customers. After two bites I was over it. The crispy spicy chicken wasn't crispy, I ordered onion rings but had to get fries because they realized they were out of onion rings, no coke or Pepsi was available. This was my first and last experience. I hate the feeling of just throwing money away but I really just did. You would think and expect that when it took over thirty mins to get your food that it would be so hot and fresh but not even close. read more

I've heard so much about how amazing Whataburger is. I've been waiting to try it to let the craziness die down a bit. My friend and I wanted lunch at work today so I decided the line wasn't that long so it was time to finally try Whataburger. I waited about 20 minutes in line to get two mediocre burgers that cost over $17. No drinks, no fries, just two burgers. The burgers were big, but that's the only thing I can say positive about them. I was asked what I wanted on my burger and said "everything", which was supposed to include mustard, ketchup, onions tomatoes, and lettuce. What I got was a ton of mustard, lots of lettuce, really strong onions, and a couple of thin slices of tomato, no ketchup. The mustard and onions were so overpowering that I couldn't taste my burger, or even the bacon on the burger. The service was ok. Nothing special. As far as I'm concerned, there are a lot of places that put out a tastier burger for a lot cheaper. I probably won't be back. read more

Place should be called "What Burger". Paper thin patty that is 20% smaller than the bun and appears to be steamed, not grilled. Onion rings were actually really good. The service was awful both lanes were open and nobody took my order for thirty minutes I had to call the restaurant and they still didn't take my order after two people TWO people who couldbe been taking orders for the other lane. Worst customer service. We ordered a #1 as is no modifications. Our order took 45 minutes, there were maybe 5 people in the lobby waiting for the food, no one in the drive thru. A young man was behind the counter player on his phone, never looked up to see if anyone needed help. I asked him to see where our order was. I understand there are usually 'new opening' growing pains, but this was next level. Total chaos behind the counter and the food quality was way below the usual Whataburger standard. Cold food and rude service aren't a great way to welcome the neighborhood. Definitely stick to a different location for now. Ordered online and paid for the food, all the burgers had onions and pickles which was asked in my order to be taken off. Fries were cold, drive through was slow for an online order pick-up. Worst drive through experience of my life. I kid you not, it took well over an HOUR to get our food and leave. We would have driven off, even after we paid, but we were locked in by a curb and cars on all sides. After about an hour, they brought our food - but no drinks, no napkins, and no ketchup. Fifteen minutes later, we got our drinks, but we're still unable to leave because the car in front of us was still waiting. The sad thing is, this is 100% due to poor management. I've seen well run fast food places easily deal with this volume of business. I feel like they should be forced to put up a sign warning potential customers before they enter the drive through. read more

First visit. Food was great. Service was good. Floors, tables and walls were dirty. Napkins and food and mustard on floors. Disappointing for sure. They may be shorthanded but I did see people doing nothing. The drink station was so messy and dirty. I hope this was not the norm. Ordered food for my granddaughter who just got off work and she was hungry. We went inside to order because the drive thru was backed up. The gal at the counter took her time coming to help. After placing the order we waited 25 minutes to get our food! That kitchen was full of employees and all were talking to each other and not paying attention to work. Always ate at Whataburger when we went to Orange Beach and we loved it. Saw they opened one in East Ridge TN so we drove down to have a burgers... Could not have been more disappointed. The burger tasted nothing like I remember from Orange Beach....it was dry and really not much flavor. The service was very slow, took 12 minutes of 8 cars to go through and when we got our food we had no napkins or condiments.... Will not be eating there again until we go to Orange Beach.....I hope they have not messed that one up. read more
