For fans of Whataburger, familiar pleasures: no A-frame architecture here, but the same old standard menu, the same old white-and-orange color scheme. And it's open 24 hours. Pretty basic, and unnoteworthy. What potential customers should keep in mind about this place is that there seems to be an almost constant presence of street people at this location. You'll see their junk-laden second-hand bicycles "parked" alongside the building as soon as you get out of your car. You'll see them sitting at the umbrella-shaded tables on the patio outdoors, just generally taking up space, smoking, and sometimes drinking. The homeless seem to think that the restrooms at this --- are their own personal domain. And thanks to their inclination to take whatever they can get their hands on, creamers and sugar packets, for coffee, are no longer available to the paying public to take at will, from a countertop dispenser; you must ask for them at the register. (There's no free Wi-Fi here, as there isn't at any Whataburger I've ever been to, and no plugs in the walls for phone recharging, so they're not hanging around for that.) The service here is agreeable enough: usually dutifully friendly and attentive, to the extent that you'd expect it to be, but no more. (Amazingly, the morning crew is usually slow about brewing and putting out coffee, but this is when the dining room is cleanest.) Orders, in my experience, are always correct and brought out promptly. Breakfast platter portions are small and unsatisfying, for what you pay. To me, the burgers that Whataburger serves are the kind that are likely to create a mess, what with all their loose ingredients, like chopped onions and shredded lettuce. Their buns are too sweet. And they're visually unappealing. All in all, you should have a pretty straightforward, if so-so, experience at this Whataburger. But personally, I'm done with this one. read more

I have been to this What-a-burger at least 40 times over the span of several years. Every time I have gone, the service and competency has been sub-par at best. I'm a huge what-a-burger lover and supporter! I have held off on doing this review, however, this definitely needs to be noted. The operator at this store needs to do a better job of hiring caring and competent employees, rather than hiring "able bodies" who are extremely unable to serve customers. Good news first- the food was really good. That said, I needed up eating outside because one of the men in the back wouldn't stop yelling. He was just playing around but it was annoying. Whataburger generally has great employees (or, at least, they're friendly and helpful in the store...they might actually be horrible human beings when they are elsewhere, but as long as they as pleasant to me as they are slinging my grub, I don't care), but I have had some incredibly nice meals at this store. The girl came around and asked us if we needed anything and promptly brought us condiments and a smile. The folks in the drive-thru also rock. If you come off of the beach at midnight-thrity, you'll probably find a Pensacola Police Department convention here. I've never seen so many LEOs in one fast food place in my life, and it's a rare visit that there isn't at least one. That might be because of the titty bar across the street, or Whataburger might be giving away free food to the fuzz. Either/or, it makes no difference, I suppose. I've never had any problems, even though I have seen some skeezy people in the general area. To sum up: Superlative employees, always fresh food, and safety. The Wendy's one block over is the crusty armpit of the area and I quit even trying to go there years ago. Their service is horrendous at the drive through. They messed up the order, then when I tried to rectify after realizing it was wrong I heard a staff member inside say they were confused but put the order in anyway. Even after that, the order was still wrong. And the food was not great either, big chunks of the rough part of lettuce, way too much mustard, bacon on one side only. Assholes were slow as fuck. Guy was hitting on my sister who drove while her kid was watching. Took like 20 minutes to finally get to the window and our food wasn't warm anymore. The Whataburger chain is one of the most notable chains from Texas but to a certain extent they have a few branches throughout the Southwestern and Southeastern United States. After Texas Florida has the most Whataburger chains with 38 as of this writing. Most of the Whataburgers in Florida are located in the "pan" portion of the handle as opposed to the "handle". This was my first exposure to the Whataburger franchise. I'm writing this review well over a year after my visit here - since this visit I've been to two more Whataburgers in Texas. With this store being further away from its home state there is a stark contrast in terms of the food quality and service. It was a popular place for the young locals to hang out and the service seemed like it catered to those people more. Considering it was late night when my family stopped by here the drive-thru was quite full. At least the tables inside were clean. I only had a bite of my dad's Patty Melt and some fries. Everyone agreed that the Patty Melt was one of the greasiest burgers they ever ate. Fries were a little boring as well but that was because I didn't order any of the sauces that normally would come with the chicken strips. I would've given up on this chain if this was my only exposure to Whataburger but luckily my two other visits to the joints in Texas have changed my opinion. If this is your first time trying out Whataburger it's best to try it in Texas - much closer to the source. read more

We have a huge family and they wanted to push 3 tables together and the staff did not even act annoyed with us- even though I'm sure it was a bother for them. So after 10 minutes of waiting there I pulled up to the window and said no one was answering and they said they can't take my order at the window and I had to go back around. When it comes to places like Whataburger we expect two things: quick turnaround on food and cheap prices. I came during the night shift after my flight landed at Pensacola. The manager was working her butt off, but had little help from her staff. The guy talking the orders didn't know where the patty melt was on the computer and had to wait for another guy to come show him. And, my food took at least 10 minutes. After I ordered other customers had to wait 10 minutes just to order because the place was so unorganized. Fix these issues on this major road between the city and beach and it'd be an easy stop for a quick bite. Great location, just in need of more helpful staff. read more

What an awesome Whataburger. I went with my 2 small children, 6m and 2 yrs. I moved from Texas to Ohio so now it is a rare treat when I get to eat at a Whataburger. The staff here was absolutely amazing. The manager got both highchairs to my table, got my drinks for me, and checked on me throughout to make sure we were doing great. We both have kids that are 21 months apart. Everyone went above and beyond and were extremely inviting and nice. I have been to many Whataburgers, but this was by far the best I have been to. Great staff, except for the manager James. He has a serious attitude and as a customer I feel sorry for the employees. Also the place is very greasy and gross. Would rather eat in the hot sun outside rather than in that building.
