I think it's emptier right now than it usually would be, because the front is covered in scaffolding for the renovations. It's open, though! A great place to watch the fights. There is not a seat in the house that doesn't face a large flatscreen. Service is fast and very accommodating. Even on busy nights (like fight nights) the staff will work hard to get you a table. However, I seam to get great service where others get lousy service. The food is junkfood piled atop junk food. It is the only place I've been to in years that serves hot dogs. Met a friend for beers and Football/hockey game last night. Great draft selection and fantastic big wings. It was packed when the leafs game and NFL was on and cleared out not long after the game. Then it looked like the regular barflys ( who probably just woke up) arrived around 11pm as it was clearing out. Definitely a great local watering hole! read more

The bar is pretty basic and no frills and isn't heavy on atmosphere, but they have lots of TV's and plenty of seating, indoors and out. Service is friendly and prices are good. I've had the wings here before and they are very good. I take them cooked "well done" and have always been happy. It's got a fun laid back vibe, they have been able to avoid the local hipsters pretty well. I took my daughter for the "Buffalo fingers" on a Sunday as the wind deals don't start I'll 5:00. GREAT wings, meh service. But worth the historical visit! "Wing night" is 3 days per week, I think, so you can't go wrong with 1/2 price excellent wings on any given day. We sat on the patio and it was very late at night, so I can't speak to the indoor service (although, more patrons were sitting on the patio, perhaps because of the nice weather). Not much else to say...we did not order alcohol, so no tips from me this time on libation selection, price, temperature (all the important ingredients!) Great place on King St W., as long as you are not looking for the most happening place! As mentioned before, 1/2 price wings Sunday to Tuesday, but be sure to ask for them BAKED! The wings are great, and the Souvlaki and Burgers are also very good! If you are a regular, the staff are awesome! They greet you by name and make you feel at home! First couple of times in can be intimidating, but over all a great, feel at home pub! Finally, the kitchen is open until 1 am, 7 days a week, which is awesome. read more

A very old tavern with character - I really enjoy their 1/2 price wings on Sundays & their service is usually quick & friendly......no drink specials, but I won't lose sleep over it. If you don't KNOW what the Sheaf is all about, don't look for fine dining and impeccable decor. The fun is in the history and the value. In my specific case, my friends and I have high school and university memories of this place so it's a part of us. As a result, we are notably biased to this place. Food alright - nothing special. It's been a bit updated since it was taken over by some corporation. The servers are mostly guys and they are pretty easy to get along with. I just like the fact that I can head over, have a few pints on the terrace and not be bother. Not pretentious at all, I feel really comfortable showing up alone as a woman. read more

Been coming here for years and its always the same great service we receive. They have wings night from sunday - tuesday after 5 with a purchase of a drink. We got spicy, bbq and honey garlic wings and they are always as good as the last time i remember. The server we had was hilarious and made the night even better and the blue jays won! Best wings in the city! Love this place bit of a regular here. Print prices are good wings are amazing menu is simple but it is good. They have plenty of Tvs so its great for sports. The servers there are friendly and provide good and quick service, in particular a server called Ally is incredibly friendly and accommodating and really goes out of her to make sure you are happy. Me and my boyfriend first tried Wheat Sheaf on a Tuesday during their half price wing night and both of us really enjoyed their wings. Not too fatty or saucy and at half the price we were more than satisfied. We returned last Tuesday ordered a good amount of food - some drinks and nachos as well as a few pounds of wings each. By the end of our meal I had barely gotten through a third of my 1 pound of wings and my boyfriend (who's eyes were bigger than his stomach) had not come close to finishing half of the 2 pounds he orders. We asked our waitress to pack up our leftovers and were pretty disappointed when she told us that she wouldn't be able to give us the half price deal if we wanted to take them home. What's more...if we refused to pay full price, those perfectly good wings would get taken to the back and thrown out. Obviously we paid full price for the wings and took the wings home - but we lost complete respect for the Sheaf and it pretty much dampened our whole experience. Our waitress tried to justify it saying that it was similar to an all you can eat deal but it just doesn't sit well with me that they'd rather throw out your perfectly good leftovers than let you leave with the deal that they advertised (without the fine print). I'll likely never return just out of spite and principle but if you do decide to go...bring Tupperware and a big bag lol read more

It's clear that this place is first and foremost a sports bar/tavern. You really can't go that wrong with having a beer and some wings here but beyond that everything else is just okay. It does not have the nicest decor but again I dont think their regular clientele really cares about that sort of thing...again it is a "tavern" so this type of atmosphere should be expected. I complained to the manager online, never heard a thing back, so they really don't care how nasty they treat their customers! My son who lives in the area, said he & his friends, who frequented this place often, will not go back! My son & his girlfriend felt so bad after our horrible experience for days...sad they cared, but no one else did!
