I found this gent and his shop on Yelp, and rolled up not 24 hours after, and rolled away in less than 45 minutes with a brand new wheel that matched exactly. The proprietor assured me that some degree of luck was involved (these rims do not fall from the sky) but he charged me significantly less than sticker, for which I was thankful. I found the staff to be knowledgeable and friendly. They also made my rims look like they were new. There was no sign of any damage and almost 8 months later they still look great. They may be a tad more expensive than some of the run of the mill powder coaters you find but it's very well worth it!! Ryan takes care of everything and is more than willing to work with you. These guys are honest and will take care of you. I previously was working with a shop on the north side of the city for minor maintenance. I had these other guys put on a new set of tires, but my car started vibrating at highway speeds. The other guys told me that my new performance tires were making problems with my alignment more noticeable, which I paid to have fixed. After that, when the vibration persisted, they told me that two of my rims were bent and would need to be straightened. They offered to send them out to be fixed for me if I would leave my car with them for a few days, but I decided to go to Wheel Tech instead. Wheel Tech offered to fix the rims while I waited, or to take me back and forth to the train or to a car rental agency if I left my car with them, or to fix the rims separately over a few days and to play musical chairs with my spare so I could keep driving my car while each rim was fixed. Given the flexibility when working with Wheel Tech, I took my car to them to have the rims straightened. Immediately after I arrived, the mechanics at Wheel Tech tested my rims and told me that none of them were bent. In fact, they said that the other guys had not balanced the tires properly, and this was causing the vibration. I asked them to double check, because I was convinced that the original shop had told me the truth. At this point, Wheel Tech could have made a lot of money for little effort by just rebalancing the rims but charging me for the straightening. Instead, they double checked each rim, while I waited, and came back with the same diagnosis. They explained to me how wheel balancing works, including concepts like static balancing and dynamic balancing. These guys know what's up. I drove 14hours into town from CO for 3 days for a family wedding (I like to drive), the last hour of which I encountered a veritable SINK hole at ~75 mph. I thought I'd bent at least 1 unobtanium RS6+ wheel, cried for a bit, then called these guys up. Long story short, I had one day to fix the issue. I brought the wheel in at 9AM on Saturday, got a call at 11 saying my steel-belted tires were shot, grabbed new tires, they straightened my wheel WITHOUT damaging the powdercoat (!), mounted and balanced beautifully IN ONE DAY. I was back on the road on Sunday at 6am and all is well. Service was excellent, I think they powdercoated or straightened 5+ other sets of wheels that day, Wheel Tech should be getting Tax breaks from IL DOT or something.. Thank You, again and again. RECONSIDER HAVING WHEELS REPAIRED HERE On 4/19/14 I brought two of my original equipment Acura TL wheels to have minor cosmetic damage repaired at Wheel Tech-Rim Repair Center in Highland Park Illinois. One wheel had light scuffing on 12 inches of the exterior rim lip. The second wheel was missing about an inch by .3 of an inch of aluminum on the exterior lip, the rim lip needed to be weld filled. If it wasn't for these pothole abrasions these wheels looked great. After two weeks Dave at Wheel Tech-Rim Repair Center called to tell me the wheel work completed. When I arrived I made a comment the wheels look "darker" than they should be. Ryan and Dave claimed the wheels are pretty close. I drove home and just as I thought, they refinished the wheels into a black gunmetal color. The original wheels are gray gunmetal color. I removed one of the original wheels and set it next to the wheels they refinish took pictures and emailed them in regards to the issue. They wanted to know how to proceed and I told them I would drive back up with one of the wheels they hadn't worked on. When I arrived they looked at my wheels and said they're off a few shades. I left them the wheels and waited another 2 weeks. I had to call them to see if they're done when I called, they said yes they are done, I told them I will be up to pick him up after work. When I arrived and inspected the wheels the wheel spokes no longer matched my original wheel and the color was still darker. Ryan stated he worked his but off on the wheels, they are close. I said you want me to say this is acceptable that my wheels not the same the color and the spokes don't even match anymore. Ryan didn't give an solid resolution, I told them I am not leaving the wheels with them again it's been over a month since they've been working on them. Brought them a sample and it's worse. I decided to take my mother's Nissan Altima in for some minor repairs for a Christmas present. She's not the best driver, and it was apparent the car needed some love. Her rims were bent pretty badly on the right side (parking lessons anyone?) so I took it into a place near her for an estimate. I was told the rims and tires would need to be completely replaced and got a quote for well over a grand. PASS! I recently noticed the signage of Wheel Tech and thought I'd try them; they told me I did NOT need new tires and they repaired the rims to look like new! They also saved me almost $800 from the initial estimate I got from a Car Repair center which shall not me named (hint: don't take yer car ANYWHERE in Glenview.) Been going to them for years for any wheel repair and tire mounting. Wheel always came out better than new, and they are able to perfectly match the OEM paint if you have stock wheels. They do charge quite a bit for tire mounting, but I feel much better with them than some generic tire shops that will scratch up your expensive wheels. read more

I had some damaged one of my wheels going over a curb, a small portion of the wheel was damaged, and had in turn managed to slice the tire. I took it to a couple of places where I was told I need to send it in for repairs costing over $200, I then went to wheel tech, they checked the wheel, and confirmed there was nothing wrong with it, it just needed a bit of sanding, and it should be good again, and I can get it done at the tire shop when they install a new tire. After hitting another pothole, in addition to needing a new tire, the rim was bent to an extent that I either needed a new one or have it fixed. A new rim would be $650. No way. So luckily I found Wheel Tech. I took my car in, had them put the spare on and in just a few hours my rim was ready. I have a lot of curb rash on my rims so I wasn't looking to have them refinished and Ryan (owner) said I'd be able to see where the rim was straightened. Honestly, when I saw the rim after the repair, I had to look extra close to see where it was bent because they did such a great job. I went today to pick up my 2 Bmw M rims that they where bend and i left them to get fix.I told the guy I want to spin them on the machine so i can see if they are fixed (a simple thing) and he got mad about how i can request something like that.He told me first let figure out payment and then we can do that.When i saw on the paper that the price was different from the website and from what he told me at the beginning and i ask them why is different he went ballistic...he started yelling at me that we are not negotiating,that where i'm coming from with this things (i'm not American i have an accent)that I can't take my wheels until i pay that amount,and then he went in the shop and told the other guy that I don't want to pay...(i just asked a simple question,I think i have the right to ask)..This in not the way u talk to your clients and I think he has a serious mental problem.I want them also installed on the car he told me that is extra when clearly on they're website says the price include the cost of mounting, dismounting, and Hunter Road Force Balancing the rim after we straighten it.At this moment i just wanted to leave i told him that I'm going to pay and that im taking my rims to a different shop to get them installed because I don't want to deal with them anymore.So if u want to get treated like a piece of s.... go to this place.Never in my 5 years in America i was treated like this...i I don't know how good they fixed the rims i just left mad as hell.Stay away from this place!!! read more
