They are great at explaining the difference between 'this is a problem-don't drive' vs 'this is a problem, fix in next 15k miles'. I thought I had a bearing issue. They looked at it and said it was a tire issue that really did need prompt replacement. They could not fix it that day (too late to get new tires). So they recommended another shop nearby. Another time, they declared an issue was beyond their ability and suggested the dealer. Much preferred than spending for half a job before they got stuck and cost me a bunch. They seem to handle everyone's car expertise level very well based on overhearing them work with other customers. read more

What a gem this business is. I needed 4 new tires on my suv. They were very communicative, reasonably priced and did great work. What more can you ask for!? I requested to have my breaks replaced because the car is almost 4 years old. The owner said the brakes have 5-7k miles left and not to waste my money. Super honest. Was referred to this shop from my friend. He had excellent results. They spent an hour looking at my car due to the smell of something coming in the interior of my cabinet. I guess when I had my oil changed they didn't tighten the plug enough which caused the oil to leak and give a rather unpleasant burning smell. He had the fellow clean off the oil and hopefully I won't be smelling that whenever I stop my car. They spent an hour on my car and didn't charge me anything. Said there were things that needed to be fixed but it could wait. I was so appreciative at the integrity of this shop. I drove to Whole Foods and picked an assortment of there cookies to thank them. I was a die hard NTB customer but they shut down their shop in Deerfield. Naturally, I got a screw in my tire at the worst possible time (as one does). Deerfield Auto & Tire came up first in my Yelp search and I'm so glad I found them. They didn't have any appointments left for the day as it was late afternoon, but they were so friendly on the phone, said I could leave my car there if I wanted to, and told me they would definitely get to it the next day. The process of dropping it off was painless, and everyone I encountered who worked there was polite. At about 8 AM the next morning, they called and said they were able to fit it in late the evening before and it was done. Ready to be picked up. I am just so impressed that they took it upon themselves to get it taken care of, even though the expectation was set that it wouldn't be ready until much later in the day. After moving from the city, I was heartbroken to leave my long-time mechanic. Thankfully i found the crew @ Deerfield Auto. Very straightforward and honest with reasonable prices to match. For a recent brake job I priced around after they gave their estimate and they were spot on. What made me chose them over everyone else was a combination of referrals I got from other locals as well as their reputation in the community. Just today I dropped my car off to fix a random rattle and they gave me a ride to work. When I came back later and it turned out to be a loose heat shield, they didn't even charge me for it. Now that's what I call solidifying a long term customer. Of course, I hope to not see them very often, but should the need arise, I know where I'll be going to get my auto work done. read more

Questionable experience. I have taken my car into this location because it is convenient to my home. I had my air conditioner replaced and within the first day I realized it wasn't getting cool at all so I took it back and they fixed it. I also had them change a bulb for me during this time and it cost me $40 for the buld to be replaced. Would have expected for the inconvenience of the air conditioner and a $800+ service that they might have only charged me for the parts and not the labor of the bulbs. I went back for a lock issue and when I left it wasn't fixed. When I returned within 1/2 hour to have them lock at it again, the young mechanic told me it would be an expensive fix and seemed bothered that I questioned it being fixed. Another $60 out the window. This all being said -- the front end staff is great. I am just not sure that the mechanics are experienced enough to be looking at the entire problem or focused enough on satisfying the customer. I have decided to go out of my way for the spectacular service at another service station. read more

So glad to have found this shop. Rich and company are fantastic. They aren't hard sellers, trying to make you get as much done as possible. They'll tell you if the work isn't necessary or urgent. They're also on time, meaning they've always had the car ready when they've said it would be ready. They're also super-friendly, feels like a throw-back to a smaller-town-era Deerfield. Finding a good place to take your car is hard enough, but when you're in from out of town, it's even harder. Thank goodness I did my homework and landed at Deerfield Auto and Tire Clinic. I was late for my appointment, and they were very gracious about it. They told me it would be about a half hour for an oil change and after about 20 minutes, they told me it was done. They had a ton of toys to keep my toddler occupied. They were friendly, helpful and didn't try to upsell me on anything. I would definitely recommend their business! read more

I went in to MIdas and they quoted $400 to fix a bad sound. I went to Deerfield Auto and they quoted me $80 and told me if they couldn't fix the nut it would be $120. They fixed it for $80 and my car is now perfect. I'll be back. Tough to get an honest mechanic. read more

Rich and his team have been my auto mechanics since I moved to Deerfield 25 years ago. Not only do they do excellent work, they don't do any unnecessary work. Many times I've dropped off a car for a tune-up with a list of things to be done, only to be told "We didn't do such-and-such because it wasn't necessary."
