So I buy a new (to me) crossover SUV for a good deal, with the understanding that I needed to replace all four tires shortly after purchase. I of course turn to Yelp, and decide to call on a few places around where I live. The first few places were ok price wise, but I found Wheel Works in Belmont and made an appointment for a Saturday about 4 days ahead of time. I called the day before to confirm my appointment, mainly because I needed to make prior arrangements for sitters. I made sure the tires were in stock and was assured of that fact. Fast forward to one hour before my scheduled appointment. I get a call from the shop telling me the tires aren't in yet, and my confirmed appointment is pushed back 2-3 hours. Um, nobody told me I booked a seat on United Airlines! Didn't I just call yesterday to make sure those tires were in stock? I thought in stock meant physically there at the shop. Whatever, I needed those tires, so I made plans for the sitter to stay a while. So I finally get to the shop and because it's a Saturday, they are naturally busy. I patiently wait in line to drop off my keys and get someone who clearly either 1) woke up on the wrong side of the bed and/or 2) can't handle the stress that Saturday retail service presents to him. I've worked in retail, and yes sometimes it sucks, but deal with your customers nicely. Promptly but friendly. It can happen. This guy wasn't rude, but he was far from pleasant on this day. He took my name and printed my estimate and pointed to where I needed to sign. I looked it over and asked him what the $109 alignment was for and asked him to remove it. He said that I would be back in a few months getting new tires after I shred through the ones that I was about to buy. (note: I knew coming in that I was going to the dealer to align my AWD SUV. And $109 for alignment was a bit too cheap for AWD anyway). I then asked him to remove the TPMS service. He blurted, almost with a condescending tone that it was required by Federal law. I then blurted back that my car didn't have direct TPMS sensors, that it was measured differently. I guess he knew what I was talking about since I got no rebuttal. I almost wish I hadn't said anything at first and waited to see if they would charge me when I checked out. I came back at the promised time and was pleasantly surprised that it was done. I wish they put those paper floor mats because my mats had some oil footprints on them. I went to check out and was greeted by another associate by the name of Brandon. This guy was a night and day difference with the other guy. Super helpful and very cordial. I was going to rate this location one star, but Brandon and getting me out in 90 minutes bumped it to 2 stars. read more

If there is such a thing as an honest mechanic shop, this wheelworks is probably one of the closest to that title. I came in randomly to get a quote on a driver side mirror installation. John, who also happened to be the store manager was very friendly and quoted me a very reasonable price after hearing me out. They were just about to close for the day (they actually closed an hour ago but stayed to finish servicing their customer cars!) You can really tell a place is well managed when the employees stay behind and still care to greet you. On the follow up visit, I wa greeted by just about every employee that entered the front desk area asking if I had already been helped... Out of all the dealers and mechanics that I've been to, I've never received this level of care and customer service... John happened to be there and helped me out right awaym. The job was done within minutes and I have absolutely no complaints.... There is some serious customer service going on here, feels more like a mom and pop shop than a chain store. I will be frequenting this wheel works for when I need new wheels or any other major repair that they are able to do. I am happy to rate this place a quality 5 stars !! Highly recommend! The earliest appointment I could get with my dealer was a week away so I called WheelWorks to enquire if they had my tire and if I could just drop in to get it replaced if I brought just the tire in, they asked me to come over. 20 minutes later I walked away carrying my wheel with a new tire installed. save yourself the risk of not getting what you expect and pay for. WW reps are not forthcoming about what an "alignment" actually results in. and their mechanics / technicians do shoddy work resulting in leaks on NEW tires which they then "fix" by adding sealants. see below if you want details. took my car to get an "alignment " because it was pulling to the left, and also purchased four new tires from them. picked up the car and nothing was said about any extra work or parts needed to correct the car from pulling to the left. after the "alignment" the car was still pulling to the left, so i returned the next day - only then was i informed that "other parts and service" needed to be ordered and done if i wanted the car to be "aligned". a week later the tire pressure light came on, i returned to WW, they took a cursory look, checked tire pressure, no "visible" damage, but no suggestion either other than perhaps i went over a nail or something... two weeks later the tire pressure in the front driver side was low again. this time they suggested to inspect the new tire for leaks. they did not call me to provide an update as to why the tire kept leaking, they only called to say that my car was ready to be picked up. i had to ask what they discovered, and then they told me they added a "sealant" without first providing their findings or asking for my approval of adding a sealant which -if installed properly- is NOT necessary for new tires. apparently they had dismounted / mounted the tire incorrectly which was causing a leak near the rim. they may have damaged the rim. they blamed it on "corrosion" . which was never mentioned when they did the alignment or installed the 4 new tires... and my old tires never had any leaks like this. i asked if they had pictures of any of their findings - they did not. i plan to take this to my dealer to see if WW damaged the wheel, the rim, and the new tire. read more

Fortunately, at least for us, we don't purchase tires often and after research, visits to other tire stores including Costco we settled on Wheel Works. Not only did they have the best price for the tires for our Audi A5s, they didn't try to oversell us on more expensive tires or other services. I am super happy with particular location. Been multiple times due to screw or a hole patch for my tires. This last visit triggered the need to post a positive experience. I managed to get my tire changed out in 30 minutes because I shared with them I had two kids napping that will want my home asap for snacks or meals when they wake up. 1999 Dodge Ram 2500 Diesel Took it in for front brakes, oil change, fuel filter and to check radiator leak. They got the radiator diagnosis correct. It needed a new radiator so I bought a new one and installed it myself. Oil change? They over filled the crank case. They did install a new filter and I assume they installed a new fuel filter but with mine it's impossible to know for sure. The brakes? Somehow they screwed it up. It smelled of burning brake pads from the minute I got it on the road. Then I took it on the highway. After 10 miles on the freeway the brakes were not very responsive, very mushy and it pulled severely to the left. One other thing, the a/c heater fan was broken but it still would blow cold on the freeway. After I got it home I noticed it no longer was cold. Did the a/c coolant somehow mysteriously disappear while at their shop. I have my suspicions. It'd be a good reason for a new compressor, yes? I recharged it with coolant and now it works perfectly. Why would I take my truck back there to a company full of crooks who don't know what they're doing? read more

When I first got my car back the car was making a weird noise. No big deal... But when I picked up my car, it was noted that I should replace my belt. I checked it then had it checked at another location. I have to say I am really surprised by some of the negative reviews about this business. I found them on a yelp search because they were close to my mechanic and they had mostly good reviews. I was able to make a same day appointment just a few hours before coming in. I called ahead because I was running late from my mechanic and they were super friendly and polite. Ernest was the one to handle my car when I dropped it off and we was very friendly and professional. I told him I printed up a few different coupons off their website and he assured me they would get me the best deal based on combing the coupons. When I gave him my online estimate for my 2 new tires he confirmed the tires I wanted (which were the ones that were only $10 more than the cheapest available brand) and when I asked if they were a good tired for my vehicle (Lexus RX300) he assured me they worked well and would last. No pushy sales tactics! When I picked up the car I was met by someone else who was equally friendly and professional. He has left my coupons in the office and when I reminded him he was more than happy to apply the 10% discount on top of the coupon that had already been applied for the oil change. I made an appointment for 2 pm. Got there on time. They took my info, handed the work order to a tech. I thought they were getting right on it 40 minutes later I asked if it was ready. "No. We don't have a lift available. 15 more minutes. A lift will be available and we'll get your car in next." Any time before my appointment they could have called to say they were running an hour behind. When I got to the counter they could have said they were an hour behind. I came back at 5 and the older guy told me the car was not ready and that his tech was at lunch and will be back in an hour. Why would you promise your customer a time and come to pick it up couple hours after the promise time and not be ready. All he could say was we are understaffed. I have been to this Wheel works several times for what I believe is their specialty - tires. I had my car serviced there in February, 2018 for work on power steering - I ended up paying over $1,800 to have it repaired. Fast forward to September of 2019 and while the car rarely gets driven (used by our college aged kids while back from school) we noticed the power steering was going out, again. Puzzled, we took it back to Wheel Works where they informed us the pump which was replaced in 2018 was bad. While they honored the warrantee on part, they noted the labor was only warranted for 12 months and that we would have to pay over $200 to have it replaced. I understand the fine print on warrantee's but I find it rather customer non-friendly to charge for a part 2x to be installed. The manager let me know that parts do go bad and that it happens quite frequently. Strange that this power steering pump went bad in less than 7,000 miles. My other repair shop said those have an expectancy of at least 5 years. So, this episode cost me an additional $220 dollars and a lesson on watching warrantee's much closer. However, thru this experience, Wheel Works has lost my business for tires and any auto repair. If they are putting in parts that only last as long as their labor coverage last then I will find another repair shop. read more

I used to be their customer for more than a year, and almost everything was fine except probably the time management. I have to admit that I always came to this place only for some minor staff like a tire mounting and balancing, a/c service and etc. Really easy and simple jobs. The other day I came for a transmission oil change (less than a 15 min job actually). It took them more than 2.5 hours(!!!) to do this simple and quite fast maintenance. I understand they were busy and there were some other customers, but there also were some mechanics, who actually could do the oil change and than move forward for another cars. But...they preferred to have lunch...huh. Finally, after more than 2 hours of waiting, Mr. Luis Cayabyab started working on my car. I guess I should mention that he did not care about what and how he was doing. After he had finished filling the new oil I(!) had to wipe off everything around underneath (really cool customer service) myself, since he was not going to do so. After that, this blithering idiot (and I mean it) burned the clutch when he was trying to move the car uphill. As**ole!!! Will I come to this place again? Very doubtful! And first of all because nobody cares about their customers and customers' cars. And I really do not like this kind of treatment. I can even understand (but not really) a poor time management, but the way some of their mechanics do their job - is unacceptable! I'm sad to write this review, but...I'm pissed off and disappointed after all that happened that day. read more

This is my experience: 7/14: Asked for refund on the warranty and part that was not needed for my car - was told it would be processed within a week 8/4: Called for status on refund - was told refund was processed on wrong credit card (total BS) and that it would be sorted out 8/19: Called for status on refund - was told another bogus reason why my refund was not issued and manager would call me to sort it out. 8/24: Called Wheel Works customer service - INSTANTLY GOT MY REFUND. I took in my BMW M3 convertible for 2 back tires; I'd called around a bit beforehand but I spoke with Colin on the phone who was very professional and courteous. I came in for 2 back tires and in the process, had them also change oil and filter as my car was due. I usually go to a bmw specialist but Colin and team were very knowledgeable on BMWs. 20 mins into the process, they showed me something I know was an issue, a back shock without a washer; and fixed it. My 'expert bmw mechanic' told me I needed to have the shock replaced so I never did that; Net net is that these folks seem honest and so they are my new go to mechanics. read more

These guys are great -- very honest and friendly, unlike the guys at the Sunnyvale location. I've been here twice now and the only downside is that they charge for mounting and balancing (around $20). I showed up at 2:30 on Sunday and got four tires on my Audi S4 and an alignment for $860. I could have bought the tires cheaper from Tirerack, but by the time I had them shipped and waited for them to arrive it wasn't really worth it. Jeff and Albert have their hearts in the right place and did give me a deal that is considerably lower than Costco how ever it took 3.5 hours to get 4 new tires with alignment. That really tested my nerves. I would recommend this place but only when they are not busy. In this economy many people and avoiding the high priced dealers and heading to places like this. When this place gets busy it seems to get out of control. They only have two guys working the front office who double as sales man, receptionists and part time mechanics. Oscar, the manager was very helpful and even let me apply my coupon a few days later when I realized I had forgotten to redeem it. He didnt have to do that but I appreciate it. I've been to the Wheel Works in Dublin who have done a good job on my car as far as replacing a flat and oil changes go. So when I was traveling in a different area, I got a flat and called around to other places to see if they had time on a Sunday to change a flat. (Sunday is usually my flat tire day - not on purpose! - and most car services are closed :( ). After a few calls, I finally called the this place and they (much like the Dublin location) were like "Come on down, we'll get you up and running). It took two hours to change a car because a) I wasn't planned for, there were other people in the queue before me and b) they made a mistake during the initial look at the tires. They wrote me down for the wrong size tire but I'm glad that they didn't let me drive away with it. Overall, very good service. Like yes, it sucks to wait two hours because they screwed up on tire size. However, they fixed the issue and didn't lie about what the delay was. It's hard to find good places to take your car (at least for me) so if someone is honest and can admit they screwed up and will fix it before returning your car to you, I'll take it. As long as the job is done right, I'm good with that. However, a lesser time waiting would have been nice too but more importantly, I know my car is safe to drive. read more

Came here to install new tires. Made online appointment to make it fast. It took them full 2 hours to at least start working... The promotion "Schedule an appointment, and we'll install your tires in 59 minutes or less, or we'll give you $59 back and a free oil change." is LAME!!! They will not install YOUR tires, they will only install THIER tires. If you have purchased tires elsewhere - it doesn't apply!!! I do not recommend this service. P.S. After taking a survey from Wheel Works and sharing my complain I have received this reply: "... After reviewing you transaction with us, the store should not have installed the tires you provided. Setup an online appointment the previous day and drove in on Sunday. Service here is exceptional, and Colin gave me a real great deal on the Tires (availed of clearance sale on Firestone tires), alignment and engine oil change. Car sure handles much better than before and the ride is silent too. The mechanics here are knowledgeable and were honest in giving me feedback that the struts are fine and no work is needed on the suspension. Went to this shop because I bought 2 sets of tires here and had reasonable experience, nedless to say things went down hill rapidly. Showed the guy a nail in the tire, he said no problem, 30 dollars, then they called me and said it could NOT be repaired and I would need a new tire. 200.00. Later update: Several weeks later, they honored the previous mgr's offer for the wheel alignment after I bought 4 new tires (makes sense right?), but had to come back a second time for them to get it right and forgot that they charged me for 4 tire disposal when it was only 2, otherwise, the current mgr and staff were very helpful and didn't pressure to get the extra services. read more

These guys are great. I have taken two different cars here and have always come away pleased. Prices seem to be good and no upsell. Have read some of the 1 star reviews and frankly I'm surprised. I've been to this place probably 7 or 8 times and it's never been bad. While not everyone is going to have a good experience every where, I'm just surprised at the 1 stars as I didn't experience any of that in my time spent there.
