Mike has the kindness and customer service unlike any car business in the bay area. Even if you don't live in the town of Sunnyvale, it's worth the drive to get tiptop service. They are honest, give accurate descriptions of what should be repaired if anything and will explain the process of anything if asked. I needed a set of 4 tires on my car. I saw a few reviews of this place and I was expecting this place to be just awful. I called ahead and got a quote for the tires I wanted and figured out the price. I then price checked a few places and found this place to be generally competitive. I decided to just go with this place because it was close to my home. Mike the manager helped me out. Really young kid so I was surprised when he introduced himself. He rang me up pretty fast. The only issue was that there was an additional charge for the alignment that he didn't explain on the phone. But he gave me a discount on the alignment if it was needed to make up for the confusion. Mike also gave me a car ride home and dropped the car off when he was done which I thought was really nice of him.Note that the tire pricing is less than other shops but they don't include the mounting and balancing, alignment like other shops. It may still be cheaper, but just note that in the future. Overall, I'm really surprised. I literally came in expecting this place to suck, but I think Mike runs a good shop so maybe that's what made the difference. read more

My 2013 Honda had clicking sound with cold start, the sound goes away after about 5 minutes. I towled my car to Honda Dealer, they did a diagnose and said that the timing belt tensioner is not working properly, to replace it need about $1000, and they said better to replace the timing belt all together, in total $1300. This is far beyond my budget, thus I came to Wheelworks in sunnyvale to get a 2nd opinion, their store manager Tony listened my explanation very patiently and brought his technician in for check, they said that it is not time to replace timing belt yet as usually the timing belt last for 10 years, to their opinions draining some oil out and adding some lubrid oil (I forgot the exact name of the product) should work. Soon they had the issue fixed for me, with only $10 product fee and $25 labor fee. And my cold start noise disappeared! Wheelworks is a store that I can trust with, as they make sure to fix the root causes without charging you big bill unnecessarily. read more

The store manager At this location, Mike has gone above and beyond not once, not twice, but three times to gain my trust and business. I was originaly sold a set of four tires the Red Wood city location that were not the ones I had inteded on getting but was assured by the sales rep in the Redwood City location that they were just as good as the one I wanted and sense they did not have the ones I wanted in stock, he would give them to me at the same price. Needless to say, this was not the case. In addition to the bumpy noisy ride. they had not properly ballanced my tires and my steering wheel flelt like it was about to fall off. On my way home from work one afternoon, I pulled into this location in Sunnyvale and spoke to Mike who happend to be the store manager. He found out that the store in Red Wood City had not properly balanced my new tires. they took care of it and at that time, I let Mike know about the concers I had with my new tires. Mike let me know that the tires I was sold did not come with the Wheel Works 30 day satisfaction gaurentee. When I explainded to him how endied up wiht the tiers and that I was not told this, he offerd to see what he could do. At the time they were re balancing my tires. they found a burnt out break light and replaced taht for free of charge. Before leaving, Mike let me knwo that if the re balance did not take care of the noise and the drive, to give him a call. I did cal back and while i t took four month, Mike was finaly able to get me out of the four tires I purchased in Red Wood City and into a set of four brand new Firestone tires and was able to credit me my intire purchase amount of the four tires I purchased in Red Wood City. my car now sails on the highway and once again, I can hear my pasangers in the back seat when we have a conversation. Mike gave the best customer service I have ever experienced. He genuinly cared about me and my concersn and did everything he possilbey could do to make things right even thought I did not get the first set of tires from his store location. Came in for a simple patch and they told me I couldn't leave until a tech checks out the tire and confirms that he can fix it.. I was told there was an hour and a half wait time and I'm here right now for an hour and they have not even checked in once. People before me came and had their cars worked on before mine. This Wheel Works recently--on Sunday morning, March 26, 2017--far exceeded my expectations. I won't go into all the details, but the front counter supervisor (Jason?) did an outstanding job: He was friendly, knowledgeable, and sold me exactly what my car needed (nothing more/nothing less). Those of you old enough to remember walking into similar tire shops (during the 90's...and up to about the early to mid-2000's) can probably recall a horror story (or two) of overly-aggressive front counter employees who would shamelessly sell you parts and services that you really didn't need.. But, thanks to Sunnyvale Wheel Works, my faith is renewed in these types of businesses--and, although there are closer shops to my home than this one, I'll definitely be back when it's time to purchase new tires. read more

Well this was my first time at Wheel Works. I wasn't sure to expect because most repair places tend to be hit and miss. I brought the car in for an oil change and air filter and cabin air filter. My brakes had been squeaking and since it was a long time since I'd had the front brake pads replaced, I expected that I'd need new ones. They called a couple of hours later to tell me my brakes were fine and their free courtesy inspection showed everything was in great shape. This was especially nice since the previous repair garage i had taken it to told me I had about a dozen things that needed repaired - which I knew weren't necessary. The people at wheel works were honest and didn't try to sell me on any repairs I didn't need. Definitely will be back. read more

I have used this wheelworks many times over the years and have been happy each time. Until today... My husband noticed a nail in his truck tire. Stopped in to have it fixed. Fixed under warranty, short wait. Then...oh, by the way...they said they noticed an oil leak and recommended we replace the rack and pinion steering assembly. Estimate is 884.57. Funny thing... This is Friday, and Monday of this week the truck was up on a rack at a Toyota dealership, and Tuesday of this week it was serviced for something different at my own long term Toyota certified mechanic. I called my mechanic and mentioned the "suggested" repair by wheel works. He statedly emphatically this was a case of deceit. Absolutely not needed. I have always been happy with tire work. I called the shop about 2.5 hrs before closing on a Sunday with a flat tire. They said come on in, we can probably get you again before we close at 4pm. I rushed to swap on my spare and headed to the shop. I got there around 2:25pm. The service manager inspected my tire and, as I suspected, it couldn't be saved. Despite my car having an unusual tire size, the service manager offered me two options of in-stock tires. Sweet! I chose the Bridgestone option. However, the service tech in the back couldn't locate the tire I wanted in their on-site inventory despite the system saying they had 7 in stock. Fortunately, they had a different (and even better) Bridgestone tire on the rack that was not in their system. I asked the service manager if he could sell me the tire, and he called the owner to what they could do. They agreed to sell me the tire at the same price as the one they showed in stock, and installed the tire for me in less than half an hour. I was on my way out of the shop a little past 3pm. There's a nail in my front wheel, we sent our car back to this shop since we purchased warranty for the tires which is a false advertisement. They charged more than $1000 for this small issue. I was quite shocked by the bill. They told us that they have to change all 4 wheels which is about $320, alignment and oil change add up to $1100. I don't recommend people to go to this store. This is the worst workshop we have been. Not honest. read more

I've been a long time customer of Wheel Works. I've gone to a few locations in San Jose, the one in Milpitas, and frequent the one in Daly City most often now. The tires on my car have been through a lot the past few months since my commute has become much further. Mr. Morales assisted me right away. He was very efficient, friendly, and helpful. He helped me consider my options and compared some prices on tires. I mentioned that I loved the tires I had and he was able to get me a super reasonable quote for the same set. I was very happy with my overall service. I got my car back within a few short hours. I didn't view their Yelp page until after my car was taken care of and I was surprised by some of the recent reviews. I had an excellent experience at this location. My experience here was better than any experience I've had at any other Wheel Works location. I would recommend this location to anyone who is in the area. read more

I have been a regular customer to replace my tires at WheelWorks Sunnyvale location. Started having bad experiences with the Wheelworks at Sunnyvale location. Last visit, I asked them to replace bulb on my BMW 3 series. They quoted $275 to replace front bulb. Their reason was, they have to remove the engine, replace the bulbs and then put the engine back. Seriously??? One can replace the bulbs by turning the front wheels, remove the cover and replace the bulbs. This time, I went to do flat tire repair at 9AM on Sunday. Store manager said they will fix and give at 3PM. Since I didn't have an appointment, I can understand, that there might be other cars to be fixed. I asked if he knows of any other shop which will fix the flat repair quickly. He suggested Firestone. I asked if their neighbour shop(Ace tires), will fix it. He replied back, he doesn't work there. He cannot answer that. He can suggest Firestone, but he doesn't know what the neighbour shop will do. Lots of attitude problems. Finally I got my flat tire fixed in the next door shop within 15 minutes. Generally, I don't post yelp reviews. However this experience made me feel that others shouldn't go through this experience. Do not go here! I needed new tires and was quoted a good price online with the buy three get one free special. When I got there to get the tires the price was double because the tires I chose were not part of the special even though they were the same tires I saw online. Then less than 2 weeks after getting these very expensive tires my tire light went on. The service station checked and one tire was low so he filled it and turned off the light. Took it back to wheel works and was told I needed an appointment. Made an appointment for the next day. Guy didn't even take my car in to check it. Spent 5 minutes checking pressure and said they were fine. Refused to do anything else because the light (that I turned off) wasn't on. At this point I have wasted a ton of time on this horrible business. Just borrowed a tire gauge and checked the tires. All of them were low. Clearly something is wrong with the tires they sold me and now I need to go somewhere else to fix it. Really really angry and out a lot of money that I should get back. Horrible business. This last week I had my car serviced at the wheel works in sunnyvale. I've been using wheel works for all may cars and with a new commute was happy to find this location on my route. I was there bright and early and greeted by Daniel and Jason. I was personally having a rough morning, but their positive attitudes helped distract me. I ended up getting a few car services items done, and waited a few hours. I was able to work remotely from their lobby, and that's not the point. The point is that I had a a unique opportunity spend a few hours observing this wheel works team at this new location to me. Daniel is a newer employee, so he was taking lead from Jason who is very customer service oriented. He greets every customer making each person feel welcome. They were happy to take each of my crazy questions, and look up things for me with patience. I gave Daniel a day of training while I was there! From looking up past services at other locations, to adding and taking services away, questioning why I should and shouldn't consider suggestions. It was a positive interaction and I at no point felt pressure to do or not do anything. Overall, I can't highlight enough how comfortable I felt during my stay. Jason is new to managing this location and really trying to improve this store's past experiences with his new team. I don't believe he will have any issues with anyone choosing this wheel works. Tony arrived a few hours later and was nothing short of the great team I saw in Jason and Daniel. With confidence I can say that I will be returning for my future car needs to this wheel works location in sunnyvale. It is conveniently located on el Camino, very close to hwy 85. I have been going to this Wheel Works for years, but this last time was horrible. I called the day before to bring my car in and the lady working there just kept complaining about how she was the only one there and it was going to be difficult to find out if they had the tire in stock. Ok fine everyone gets busy, but then find out and call back. That never happened I showed up the next day and once again she was unsure what to do and if they could do the job. She was so slow and looked lost. She finally sent someone outside to check the car and they told me to be safe I probably needed to change all four tires. Once back in the store i had to get back in line behind 3 people and wait to see what the next steps would be and if they had the tire. While in line i just called a different Wheel Works in San Jose. The guy checked found the tires and told me he would have them there in the next hour. I bought the car in he did the job and my car was ready just a few hours later with four new tires. I will never go back to this Wheel Works in Sunnyvale ever again. read more

I moved here in July and my poor car already needed service twice. They sent my wheel out for a repair the first time, which came back still with a leak, and went above and beyond to offer a solution after how long the ordeal has taken me even though the failed repair was not their fault. The second time was a tire patch and they completed it within the timeframe I was quoted. I've found this location's service to be honest and top-notch. Yes sometimes they get busy and the line is a little backed up, but there is free wifi plus if you are smart about the time you pick, it's totally manageable. read more

We had towed are car there with two flat tires and cracked rims (ran over a trailer hitch receiver with ball that was in my lane on the freeway). Filed a claim with the insurance company. The insurance company estimate contained two new tires, two reconditioned rims, and a 4 wheel alignment. Tony could only find one reconditioned rim through their vendors. So, we had to get one reconditioned rim and one new rim. Tony worked the pricing of fixing my car so that it was only $19 more than the insurance company estimate. Tony and his staff were real easy to work with and I highly recommend them. read more

I called last week to set up an appointment to have my tires changed and was so pleased with the service I got over the phone. I went in for my appointment and that's where it all slowly went downhill. At first it was great. I was greeted when I walked into the establishment, they found my appointment, and were ready to work on my car. They told me it was going to take a few hours since they were short staffed. No big deal, I'm very understanding. It took them 5 hours to change my tires and they emailed me and called me when my car was ready. When I went to pick up my car, that's when my experience was poor. I walked in to wheel works and wasn't acknowledged, greeted, or even looked at. I approached the counter and the employee told me "one minute" so I stepped back and waited. A few male customers entered after me and the employee at the desk immediately welcomed them and helped them. The multiple customers after me also needed tires changed and they were told it was going to be 1 hour. But mine was 5? Once the other customers dropped off their car, I still wasn't helped. I approached the desk again and told the employee "I'm here to just pick up my car" finally he asked my name and then couldn't find my car in the system lol. I'm not sure if they were just having an off day but I'm in no rush to go back to wheel works. read more

I come here for a tire, I kinda figure they won't help me since it was 440. So I ask if they could help me change out my tire with the spare since I didn't have a jack. They said sorry no. I had to wait an hour outside in front of their door for the tow truck to come with a jack. They just couldn't help me with a simple change of wheel... the sad part is that I was going to go back and get rims and tires the next day. Guess they didn't want my business. "YOU NEED AN ALIGNMENT" Well, duh, the tires were balding wearing pretty irregularly. So my brother got new tires from them. And of course they offer a free alignment inspection, which he declines. They still do the inspection anyways. And when he picks up the car, they show him the computerized printout indicating certain specs are in RED, i.e. out of alignment! Well, DUH! No thanks, we don't want your alignment which you warrant for one year. I bring it to Auto Innovations in Milpitas for alignment. Cuz they gots talented people working for them there! Quoted $60 for alignment. The guys there tells me, the car was already in alignment, so only minor tweaks needed. Charge: $40! Summary: 1) Tires replaced at Wheel Works 2) "YOU NEED AN ALIGNMENT" (and we knew that already!) 3) Brought car to Auto Innovations in Milpitas 4) Auto Innovations says car was in alignment. So it turns out I did come back here for my brake service, because my disc brake rotors were badly warped and I also had been told during last visit I needed a flush of the brake hydraulic system. Although the rotors were too thin to turn and had to be replaced, even with all the labor for replacing the rotors and flushing the system, I still saved about half of what was quoted by my former shop. God forbid I need any further brake work any time soon, but for any of that sort of service or for my tires, I will be back. Really friendly service that's not pushy in any way--what's not to like about that? read more

Bought my tires from this place - also bought the warranty. About five months ago, I got the free rotation and rebalance service covered by the warranty. As I was getting into my car (2.5 wait), I noticed that my back tire had a gash in it. As it was not enough to cause a problem AND I no longer had the time to waste another 2.5 hours, I waited until I had another problem or the next service. Lately, my two from tires have developed slow leaks. I took it in and also asked them to patch the gash. Again, 2.5+ hours later, the gash was partially patched and they said they replaced the stem in one of my front tires. I was told that my bushings needed to be replaced to the tune of nearly $900. This is on a car that only has 64K miles and gently driven! As I drove off the lot, I immediately noticed that the car pulled to the left (significantly). I checked with two dealership services and upon hearing that I had been told to replace the bushings and one said that it was very unusual for this to happen and the other, after laughing, guessed that it was wheel works that made this assessment. Apparently they have been getting a lot of calls about this type of occurrance. I have got to get the alignment fixed that this Wheel Works messed up. I would suggest that you think long and hard about they quality of service they provide and should you decide to have them service your tires or anything else, plan to spend up to 2.5 to 3 hours in their filthy waiting area (stained seating, dirty floor). read more

I recently had a pretty bad experience with these guys. So I went in to get my wheels aligned. OK. That took like 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours. Then they told me my brake pads were worn down and my alignment arms should be fixed. OK, I was a little skeptical, but I thought the brake pads probably did need to get replaced. So that was like $ 340, which was reasonable. Then I asked them to replace my headlight. $ 90!!! Maybe I misunderstood what he said, but I thought he said it was $ 18 for the part and $ 72 total to replace it. This is even more than a car dealer charges to do this! Plus on top of it all, They said my car would be ready by 7PM. It wasn't ready until after 9, which I was waiting in the store for when I got dropped off at 6:45PM. How can you be two hours off in your estimate!?!?! Nobody comes out to tell me why it's taking so long. So I walk to the back of the garage and ask them what's going on. They say they're working on it and another 20 minutes, which was at around 7:30. Then 8 comes around, again no one comes out to tell me what's going on with my car and when it'll be ready. They say they're working on it and it'll be done soon. Turns out they weren't sure if the headlight bulb was the right one! So it's like a quarter after 9 when they finally have my car ready. Unbelievable! I would never go to this store again. They obviously don't know what they're doing and don't even have the courtesy to come out and explain why they're taking so much longer than what they stated. So overall I had a totally negative first experience. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more
