This was a post doctor meal ordered for home delivery for my mom, sister and myself. Last week, my mom called me to order her a burger and fries and as she lives in Canarsie, the majority of diners have closed ( I grew up eating at the Arch, Seaview and Kings Plaza diner, all long gone). I researched on Yelp and ordered her a hamburger deluxe from Floridian. She was quite pleased with her meal, thus, I ordered from them again. Only, for myself, , I ordered a turkey burger deluxe. and my mom and sister had the beef burger deluxe. The meals were packed safely except for the condiments, pickles and slaw the bag was a bit wet and torn in the bottom. As you all know, I love turkey burgers and I have found the perfect turkey burger in Bay Ridge. Floridian's turkey burger patty is ginormous which is fine but the bun couldn't house the size. The burger was just okay, a bit bland for me even with the addition of ketchup, mayo and mustard. The fries were a bit soggy but the onion rings were very good. The pickles and coleslaw were excellent. There were generous amounts of condiment packets. I must add that you will get a meal that's worth the value. I have never come here before, but my husband has and he enjoyed it. I was excited to go to a good diner, or any diner really, because it can be hard to find a good diner these days since many of the good ones have unfortunately closed down in South Brooklyn. We were happy that they have a good sized private parking lot. Upon walking in, the decor felt somehow elegant, but regular lol Don't know what that means, but I was comfortable :) The booths were spacious, though they had these 2 seaters that seemed pretty tight for 2 so I'm glad we didn't get one of those. They also charge a 3.99% credit card fee so it's less to use cash. Our server, Lucinda, was such a sweetheart! Our food took a little long, but when it came, it was worth the wait! My go-to diner meal is corned beef hash and eggs! I got mine well done and eggs over medium with whole wheat toast and everything was exactly how I wanted! Just perfect! We also got the Challah French toast, which wasn't my favorite (though we did take it home because we're not wasting food) and my husband got his mushroom cheese omelette as usual. He subbed the home fries for regular fries and I switched mine to curly fries. Was happy with the switch! We had a nice kid-free meal and just had some time to talk and eat some hot food! Every neighborhood needs a good, reliable diner. The Floridian has been a generational hangout for my husband's family. Service is generally reliable and quick. It has your typical diner vibe, a huge menu, booth style seating, a display of mouthwatering desserts, etc. Whatever you order, the portions are large. Expect to take some home! The owner asked us after our meal how everything was and our responses ranged from decent to just okay. Sure, it was the chill period, also know as the period between lunch and dinner rushes, but that is no excuse. It all felt flung out and mostly bland in taste. The Floridian Diner is an old diner in the community and it was recently renovated. It looks nice inside and the food is good. I went twice within the last week and the service was nice as well. On my first visit I went for breakfast so I ordered the Lumber Jack breakfast which consisted of Pancakes, Eggs, Bacon, Ham and Sausage. It was vey filling and delicious. While the service may be good, the food is absolutely awful. I ordered a chicken souvlaki platter, which the chicken should be grilled. Nope, this chicken was sauteed with peppers and onions, almost like it was a Chinese food dish! The tzatiki sauce couldn't even save it. Even the Greek salad it came with was bland and lifeless. FOOD Real diners are a dying breed in Brooklyn. But they're doing it right! I had a delicious breakfast staple in their large sunny dining room. Silver dollar pancakes. These little pancakes had a really nice flavor too them, without being too bread. The coffee was off the hook. Just as good as I had remembered! My family has gone to this diner for over a decade. Since the reopening, food is as good as before; we love their breakfast platters. The prices here are on par or lower than other diners within the area. The renovation of the diner was well needed! The booth area and the bathrooms are modern and clean. Have not seen the dinner area yet, so can't comment. Service can always be better, but that's a given when there are so many new faces. We will definitely go back again! First time at this new Floridian and the worst experience ever. This was the best diner that my brother and I had been going to since we were kids and it went from a five now that it was sold down to actually a 0. My brother ordered a Diet Coke and an alcoholic drink when we first came in, and the three of us dining were all brought water. Our orders were taken, and my brother's leg of lamb special included, a soup or salad, and a dessert with coffee or tea, none of which the waitress brought the one and only other time that she appeared at the table. I called the manager over , a man with a ponytail, maybe his name is Mike but I'm not sure. My brother asked him if they are out of Diet Coke and if they are out of tequila sunrise because he never got his drinks. The manager said they are out of tequila sunrise, and went to bring him his Diet Coke. He gave him options for the drink, and my brother chose one, but he never got his Father's Day drink the entire night. He told the manager that he ordered spinach with his leg of lamb and the manager said that they are all out of spinach and broccoli because we came late and I told him that we had a 5:15 dinner reservation. I consider that early for dinner so the fact that they were out of a lot of food that we couldn't get was on us! . He was telling every table with complaints not to judge because he had been busy that day. I told the manager that the waitress never brought him any soup or salad that is included with the meal, and he literally chased her into the kitchen. She looked furious. The manager brought my brother's soup. The manager came back when I was 1/4 done with my meal and asked if we want to pack our food. I then asked the lady at the front desk if they had some time limit because even a buffet has a two hour time limit and she said that they don't so then I did not understand why we were being chased out right away. The waitress never came back the entire night except to bring the check and at that point we asked where the dessert and coffee is for my brother's meal and she argued that is not included when it definitely was, so she brings the cake out in a tin instead of on a plate, just another sign to get the H out of the restaurant. I told her to her face that this was the worst service ever. Even the manager has a foul mouth and you can hear him saying the MF words. Also, beware when you get the bill because there is additional charge which I actually thought for a minute it was a credit that we were giving for compensation for the horrible service, but it was an extra charge for using a credit card, which we were not going to do. Then, if you look down at the very bottom of the receipt, which there would be no reason for anyone to do, you will see that there is a cheaper price for paying cash. read more

Especially their breakfast- tasteless ketchup, a lower quality corned beef hash that has a strange taste and the bacon that has no flavor other than the oil/fat used to cook it! The bacon & eggs shouldn't taste like the oil they use! The service is good, they do their best to seat you right away. The waiters will make sure you have water, coffee or tea while waiting for your order. The food comes out from the kitchen pretty fast. read more

Great food, quiet, and phenomenal customer service (shout out to Jasmine our server for always making us feel welcomed). A ruined evening. That is how I would define our time at The Floridian Plaza diner. My wife, my daughter and I were having a good evening and then we decided to eat out at The Floridian Plaza. Big mistake! After we were seated, our daughter tried to order a gluten free burger but they had no gluten free buns or bread even though the menu showed a wide array of gluten-free options. She then asked for a simple grilled chicken with fries and they said they couldn't provide that. At that point I should have told them we were leaving but I didn't want to make the night worse. Finally, she settled for wings that had no breading, that was really an appetizer, that she had as a dinner. It took a good while for our food to arrive and when it did they brought my burger and fries with a hair on the fries and burger. I sent it back and got a replacement. My wife and daughter had already started eating so we stayed. I had ordered a seltzer but with all of the changes for my daughter and I, the waiter forgot to bring it and I didn't notice it until half-way through dinner. They gave us the bill and I noticed that they offer a reduced price if I paid cash. So I paid cash while my wife was talking to the manager about all of the mistakes, and I noticed that they charged me the original price. I told them and they corrected it but if I hadn't looked closely, their "discount" would have been lost. Unbelievable! Atmosphere: poor; Food: poor; Service: poor. I was bummed to find the pandemic had claimed the lovely old Floridian diner, but was excited when I recently drove past and saw it had returned. Inside the place has been spiffed up; it's clean and bright. The menu still has every dish known to man and the prices, despite inflation, still seem on the reasonable side. But that's where my memories collided with cold reality. Our server was friendly and attentive. I ordered a turkey club sandwich and my wife ordered a salad with grilled chicken. Remember the wonderful sliced roast turkey that's a staple of Brooklyn diners? Forget it; at the Floridian, it's now the pressed lunchmeat variety. Want bacon on that club? That'll be extra. Really? My wife's salad had a nice piece of grilled chicken on top, but I can only describe the the portion of greens as stingy. They still bring the complimentary coleslaw and pickles, and the fries that accompanied my sandwich were hot and crisp, but we both left in full agreement we won't be back. read more

They charge $1.49 and then on top of that they charge an additional $6+ for service fee. This is highway robbery and they are not being totally transparent.
