This is a unique space that my daughter would LOVE. On our last day in KCMO my son and I missed the hotel breakfast and I needed coffee. I looked up locally owned coffee shops on the way to the airport and this place popped up. We checked dig it and it was worth it. Not only is it a simple and quaint cafe but it's a cat rescue! For $16 which goes to keeping the cats and rehoming them, we got 30 mins of relaxing time petting cats. The coffee was good also. I would recommend for anyone experiencing anxiety or stress. Come here, drink a coffee or tea and pet some beautiful felines. Please supper locally owned businesses like this one. It keeps your dollars revolving in the community and supports local families and supply chains.

Love the concept of relaxing with cats while helping the cats... and sipping on coffee! You can definitely tell the people here truly care about the cats. A nice way to relax and breathe for an hour, purrfect way to de-stress I even might say!

Super nice employee and awesome chill space to hang or study. Pastries and drinks. Cats nap from 2-5 so no visitors can see them during those hours but the coffee shop remains open.

I adopted my cat here a few years ago when they were just getting started. He is a sneezy little boy who they found off the street and he had been there a long time. Working at the cafe helped to socialize him and he still does well with people and most other animals! The staff were very helpful in telling us about the cats personalities, and making sure that we did our due diligence in visiting with him and seeing if it was the right fit. The cats have both a public and private area and they keep it quite clean! This is an excellent place to go for first time adopters.

Haven't been in for the actual cats yet, just the part of their cafe that's next door to the cat area. On a rainy weeknight, the atmosphere of this cafe was perfect-- quiet, cute, cozy, with yummy drinks. They have some goods from local artists and plenty of space to plug in your laptops. I don't know if it's normally packed, but I liked the slower vibe of a rainy night. Parking in the back is a little tight.

Such a cute little coffee shop and the staff are super friendly. I stopped in this weekend for an artist pop up that was being hosted here but I'll definitely have to come back to play with the cats. I believe you have to have a reservation and I didn't plan that far ahead. I did grab a dark chocolate raspberry mocha and it was delicious. I will definitely return.

My coffee was AMAZING and I loved being able to pet and play with all of the adorable cats. Plus their staff was so kind.

Visited the cat lounge at 7pm on a Friday night with 5 others in our party, for a low-key birthday outing. The reservations were easy to make online and it's $15/pp. Reservation includes a drip coffee and supporting KC Pet Project. We had a wheelchair user in our party and the staff were very accommodating. We were able to use the front, accessible entrance. I believe there are 10 people allowed each hour and there were only 8 total for our reservation time. The cat lounge is huge and so comfortable that it would fit 10 people easily without feeling cramped. The cats were friendly and came up to you for pets and snuggles when they wanted. There is a safe room they can hide in when they're tired. I was worried how we'd spend 60 minutes starring at cats but the time flew by! New cats would come out to play and it was a revolving door of cat entertainment. There are 6 resident cats and the others are adoptable. I would highly recommend visiting. The staff were so friendly, sharing tidbits about the cats and their personalities. But beware, the cats were obsessed with our coffee!! Had to play keep away from them

This is an unexpected amazing experience! This is first cat cafe I visit in KC area, (don't know if there are others...) and it definitely set the bars high for any other cat cafes that I may visit in the future. It has two rooms: one is only cafe side (no cats) the other is cafe with cat residents or ready for adoption. $8 admission fee for the cat room is required, and appointment for the visit is also highly recommended. I was lucky enough to have available spot the time I visited, because I didn't know that it actually needs to make an appointment to see and play with kitties. The staff on the only cafe side was so kind to ask for me and I was able to get in for the 1pm group. The drink is reasonably priced, I got London fog, and it was ok for the price. The best part was the time with cats. They are all so healthy and so comfortable to be around human. Their furs are all soft and fluffy, and just so easy to get along with. It was just so peaceful even by quietly sitting there with them taking naps. I highly recommend this cat cafe for anyone who is fond of felines or maybe looking for adopting. They have kittens too. Will definitely go back!!!

Lovely spot to pet some sweet kitties. Clean, calm, and relaxed. Everyone seems sleepier in the afternoon, so we'd like to come at a different time in the future

We visited the cat lounge part of Whiskers and enjoyed our experience! We made a reservation online and got an hours worth of cat play time! We didn't get any coffee this time but they offer a small coffee selection before you enter the lounge. There are older cats and there are young kitties. Most of them were very sleepy since it was close to night time but we enjoyed petting them and playing with them. They were all friendly and loved to be pet. I especially loved the cat who has their nails painted! The kitties were very active and running around! There is a separate cafe only area that doesn't require a reservation but there are no cats sadly. I would definitely recommend reading their rules and guidelines before booking and going. We payed $15 per person for an hours worth of time, which I wish was extended because an hour truly isn't enough time to play. Overall, it was very clean, no odor, and a good time!

WOW!! I loooooved my experience at Whiskers. All their cats are adoptable, and so social and cuddly! The only thing is I wish we would've come earlier so we could put in an application for the cutest little cat before someone else did! Water and drip coffee are included in your ticket price, and any money you spend on other drinks goes directly back to the cats :) If you're looking for something fun and unique (and quite honestly very stress-relieving) to do in KC - this is the place to be!

What a great experience with a thoughtful, kind staff. Kitties were well-loved and we had fun visiting!

Cool place overall to meet others or hang out with a group. Only complaint is that the drink options felt a little simple. I thought they could do a lot more with easy Asian drink options like soju/sake bombs, highballs, yuzu cocktails, green tea shots, etc. Also food options like onigiri or other Asian snacks could be incorporated. And the glasses while cool with their cup designs felt kinda child like in a sense, and maybe I'm being picky but I haven't had a design like those on my mug since I had a SpongeBob cup I drank milk out of when I was 5. The crowd is what you expect for the name of the place. It's not really a game bar like Bar and Rec or Up Down. It is very tailored to a group of either really young people that remind you of high schoolers or middle age male anime guy archetypes. Nothing wrong with that but just something to expect. Overall I would go back if someone else wanted to play retro Japanese games, but other than that I wouldent see me going in as apart of a bar crawl.

I remember back in 2011 when I worked at the Nelson we were absolutely starved for a great local coffee house to open up nearby. We had Latte Land on the plaza but parking over there was always nuts and to just pop in and grab a coffee we'd often end up over at KCAI. When Crow's opened while I was away in graduate school I remember my former colleagues gushing about it - saying it had finally happened and a good shop had opened. They weren't wrong. Here we are, probably 10 years (ish) since they first opened their doors and they are still serving the need for fantastic local coffee in this part of KC. On my most recent visit I popped in for a coffee to take with me to a meet at UMKC and I was reminded at how great this spot is. While there are many more great coffee options nearby these days you can't fail to remember Crows and I look forward to my next visit!

The coffee flavor really came through and was perfectly prepared. The staff was also very friendly and helpful which made the experience even better. I will definitely be back.

Julian, the Director, is a fan of this place and he'd sometimes order an array of cakes for the staff to enjoy, they always went fast, and it was my first foray into European style cakes like what Andre's serves up. Flash forward more than a decade and I've been here a few times, sometimes to get chocolates for a friend, other times (like last night) for a meal. I didn't realize that Andre's does special events like their fondue nights. I have a feeling these are annual so you might have to wait until 2027 to snag a seat at the table, but their fondue meal was so much fun and comes with some history from their staff. Fun thing I learned was that they sell their fondue year round in the shop so if you ever want to do a unique date night at home just pop into Andres and purchase some to-go. It would be such a fun way to spend a Saturday at home. Finally, I'm going to add that for me what takes Andre's to the next level and makes it a must visit spot in KC is the history. It's been in the same family for generations, the recipes are authentic, and the owners are really kind people. It's the kind of business you can feel good about supporting and I'll be back!

My Winner of Best Restaurant Week Meal 2026…read more I hadn't been back to Westport Cafe for a few years but now I'm kicking myself because I've been missing out! I remembered this restaurant being one of my favorites in years past . For some reason it fell off my radar. Now it's shining like a beacon of fine dining French inspired cuisine in Westport, an entertainment district known for a more casual environment. If you are looking for a special date night meal, somewhere for a girls night or just for a treat yourself dinner I would highly suggest Westport Cafe. Let's talk about this incredible restaurant week menu. First was the deconstructed crab cake (which is always on the menu) I would order this dish again and again. The way it was presented was a work of art. All the components were complex and it was fun to eat. It has such an essence of crab without the heaviness deep fried crab cakes usually have. Seafood is special here because the Trout Almondine was one of the best fish dishes I've ever had. It begs to be added to the menu. The sauce was buttery and rich with nutty notes, the citrus cut through the richness so, it didn't seem heavy. The fish was cooked impeccably, I literally had no notes. They know what they're doing in that kitchen! And you know if I can rave about green beans then it was a perfectly executed dish. They had such a nice snap and vibrant green color, they were delicious dipped in that sauce. I cannot wait to go back for another solo splurge meal. This was my second dinner of the evening so I didn't make it to dessert at the restaurant but, I did take it to-go. I'm not a big dessert girl so, it wasn't very memorable however, the rest of the meal is engrained in my mind. I remember back a few years ago I used to go crazy for the muscles here so, I can't wait to sample them again. Also, just a note any menu that has rabbit on it just completes me. It's so hard to find nowadays in Kansas City and it's one of my favorite meats to indulge in. The menu rotates seasonally (as one should) so, I need to rush back in soon before the rabbit leaves. I would suggest you rush in too, I do not think you'll regret it.

This is not a cheap place to dine, but if you want to treat yourself, do it here! Sometimes when we dine at a $$$ restaurant we leave thinking, "...that wasn't THAT much better than..." and feel like the food didn't justify the price. BUT this was not the case at Westport Cafe. Every thoughtfully prepared bite felt special and worth every cent.
