Mildred's is a popular breakfast/coffee spot in KC. We visited the plaza location while in town. The biscuits & gravy with eggs were our breakfast entrees. My husband also ordered a side of potatoes, which were yummy little hashbrown/tator-tots that came with a delicious chipotle type sauce. Food was delicious!! And, our coffees were excellent as well. We would definitely return!

Stopped in today for a bite, I had a half ham and Swiss sandwich, the bread was perfect not too thick not too thin, plenty of ham on it, the pickle was crunchy and yummy. I absolutely loved the sandwich. I got a side order of pasta salad and it was huge! Vinegary and delicious, the pasta was cooked perfectly al Dente as well! The black mango iced tea was perfect for me since I don't care for sweet teas at all. And the chocolate chip cookie was so soft and yummy! I found easy out front street parking available. They have a patio and indoor seating as well! I'll definitely be back!

Mildred's is one of my favorite breakfast spots and this spot is just as good! They will validate parking in the attached garage, but be warned that the validation did not work for 2/3 of the cars in our group ($10 each). This location has so much seating. We especially enjoyed the large table upstairs that accommodated nine. When you order, your food is delivered to your table but your name is called at the counter if you order a coffee. The food here is fantastic. Everyone in our group loved what they ordered, I'm always recommending the chipotle turkey wrap!! Another solid stop for breakfast.

I stopped by Mildred's for a sweet treat and a coffee on a dreary afternoon this week. I love Mildred's and have been several times. They have a great menu and serve breakfast all day. It's a wonderful spot to catch up with a friend or get out of the office with some coworkers. The inside has a nice vibe and all the food I've had there has been delicious. But what really stands out to me is that the employees are especially kind and nice. It's really lovely.

Mildred's is one of my absolute favorite local spots. I recently tried this newest location for the first time. The interior is very nice and modern. There's two floors for seating. I ordered The Standard on jalapeño bread, which is one of my most frequent orders at the downtown location. The service was quick. You get a buzzer and someone brings out the food to where you are seated. The sandwich was amazing as usual. It's great to see Mildred's expand and have continued success. Everything is great so you can do no wrong with ordering. Make your way to Mildred's if you haven't already.

Grabbed a lil sumthing close by the library. Options are around you just never know about until you got a craving... bacon! Yup bacon! I had the Breakfast hash which I will admit I didn't expect what I got even though I saw the ingredients.. well lol I read the most important ones! It was all good! Really even the arugula. It was all layered, plenty of everything and I really appreciated how the bacon was chopped and whole slices layered. For me, it was just enough chipotle aioli too.. and just enough cheddar cheese. The Bacon breakfast sandwich was a hit with a teenager who too had a bacon craving. It was packed full of eggs .. those especially good steamed Eggs! It's nice to have so many bread options too! I was also surprised by the price point but hey if you splurge here then you'll tighten up later.

What a cool little hangout. A couple of tables had retirees telling stories and catching up. A few other tables had professionals who were doing a little work. Then there was me - somebody who should have been at work, but was spending a fleeting moment alone before heading back to the cage. Good food. Solid staff. Just watch out for the morning sun - it can really cut its way through the glass storefront. Otherwise, please feel free to lean back, take your time, and enjoy the good vibes

Loved going to Mildred's crossroad location for their breakfast sandwich. This new South plaza location didn't disappoint either. It's their 3rd one in KC metro. As always I ordered my favorite vegetarian sandwich and Honey latte. Service was quick. This new location has a lot of seating available. Spacious with natural sun light coming in. They have a basement parking lot.

I love Mildred's other locations and I was really excited to try this new spot. There is plenty of seating with more spot upstairs. I ordered the standard sandwich on a jalapeño bun and a spinach feta croissant. I love the standard and really enjoyed their jalapeño bun. The spinach feta croissant was really good as well and I would order both again. Service was very quick and we did not have a long wait for the sandwich to be ready. I plan to return to this location soon!

New Mildred's location just dropped!!!! Mildred's creates the BEST breakfast sandwiches and burritos in Kansas City, and I will defend that statement to the death. This new location is just as consistently delicious as the other two. Mildred's has made perfect use of what used to be the South Plaza Mission Taco. There is tons of seating both upstairs and on the main level. Order at the counter immediately inside the door, and then take your order number to a table with you. To-go and online orders appear on the bar to the right of the counter by the stairs. My go-to order is the vegetarian sandwich on ciabatta with bacon added, but there is literally nothing on this menu that I won't devour over and over again. The unique, fluffy, and delicious steamed eggs are Mildred's gift to the world. The service is always phenomenal, and then food comes out hot and quick. This location, like the others, is packed on the weekends, but tables turn over pretty fast. Highly worth the wait! I love Mildred's!!!!

We always love stopping by Mildred's. This is their newest and third location. I like being able to dine in or take our food and drink to-go. I always get an iced vanilla latte, biscuits and gravy, and a gooey butter pastry. My husband loves the Chipotle breakfast burrito. The coffee and pastry selection is great. If you're eating in, there's an upstairs seating section which makes this location unique. The morning sunlight is always super pretty too! If you're taking it to-go, Loose Park is within walking distance. I've always received friendly service and quick turnaround time on my food and drinks after ordering.

I remember back in 2011 when I worked at the Nelson we were absolutely starved for a great local coffee house to open up nearby. We had Latte Land on the plaza but parking over there was always nuts and to just pop in and grab a coffee we'd often end up over at KCAI. When Crow's opened while I was away in graduate school I remember my former colleagues gushing about it - saying it had finally happened and a good shop had opened. They weren't wrong. Here we are, probably 10 years (ish) since they first opened their doors and they are still serving the need for fantastic local coffee in this part of KC. On my most recent visit I popped in for a coffee to take with me to a meet at UMKC and I was reminded at how great this spot is. While there are many more great coffee options nearby these days you can't fail to remember Crows and I look forward to my next visit!

The coffee flavor really came through and was perfectly prepared. The staff was also very friendly and helpful which made the experience even better. I will definitely be back.

Julian, the Director, is a fan of this place and he'd sometimes order an array of cakes for the staff to enjoy, they always went fast, and it was my first foray into European style cakes like what Andre's serves up. Flash forward more than a decade and I've been here a few times, sometimes to get chocolates for a friend, other times (like last night) for a meal. I didn't realize that Andre's does special events like their fondue nights. I have a feeling these are annual so you might have to wait until 2027 to snag a seat at the table, but their fondue meal was so much fun and comes with some history from their staff. Fun thing I learned was that they sell their fondue year round in the shop so if you ever want to do a unique date night at home just pop into Andres and purchase some to-go. It would be such a fun way to spend a Saturday at home. Finally, I'm going to add that for me what takes Andre's to the next level and makes it a must visit spot in KC is the history. It's been in the same family for generations, the recipes are authentic, and the owners are really kind people. It's the kind of business you can feel good about supporting and I'll be back!

My Winner of Best Restaurant Week Meal 2026…read more I hadn't been back to Westport Cafe for a few years but now I'm kicking myself because I've been missing out! I remembered this restaurant being one of my favorites in years past . For some reason it fell off my radar. Now it's shining like a beacon of fine dining French inspired cuisine in Westport, an entertainment district known for a more casual environment. If you are looking for a special date night meal, somewhere for a girls night or just for a treat yourself dinner I would highly suggest Westport Cafe. Let's talk about this incredible restaurant week menu. First was the deconstructed crab cake (which is always on the menu) I would order this dish again and again. The way it was presented was a work of art. All the components were complex and it was fun to eat. It has such an essence of crab without the heaviness deep fried crab cakes usually have. Seafood is special here because the Trout Almondine was one of the best fish dishes I've ever had. It begs to be added to the menu. The sauce was buttery and rich with nutty notes, the citrus cut through the richness so, it didn't seem heavy. The fish was cooked impeccably, I literally had no notes. They know what they're doing in that kitchen! And you know if I can rave about green beans then it was a perfectly executed dish. They had such a nice snap and vibrant green color, they were delicious dipped in that sauce. I cannot wait to go back for another solo splurge meal. This was my second dinner of the evening so I didn't make it to dessert at the restaurant but, I did take it to-go. I'm not a big dessert girl so, it wasn't very memorable however, the rest of the meal is engrained in my mind. I remember back a few years ago I used to go crazy for the muscles here so, I can't wait to sample them again. Also, just a note any menu that has rabbit on it just completes me. It's so hard to find nowadays in Kansas City and it's one of my favorite meats to indulge in. The menu rotates seasonally (as one should) so, I need to rush back in soon before the rabbit leaves. I would suggest you rush in too, I do not think you'll regret it.

Our night out in Westport took us to a couple of different spots…read more Our main haunt for the evening, however, was Westport Cafe. It's a pretty eclectic, cozy French Bistro. I highly recommend making a reservation because the space gets crowded quickly. We started the night with "The Corinthian," which was a velvety, sweet, and incredibly refreshing libation. The food throughout the night was a bit of a mixed bag, leading to some hilarious table critiques: One friends Stuffed Lamb Saddle: This dish looked like a Monet on a plate, but unfortunately, most of the pallette tasted like a five-year-old's finger painting. One of the glaring faux pas's was the Kryptonite-colored risotto, which tasted exactly like the peppermint gel the dentist uses to scrub your teeth clean. The lamb itself was cooked well, though a bit on the gamey side. The Halibut & Croque Monsieur: On the brighter side, one friend ordered the halibut--which tasted great, though the portion left her wanting a lot more--and another ordered the fancy French version of a ham and cheese sandwich, which was delicious. My friend and I decided to split a few plates: Oysters: Served on an elegant little plate with a house-made hot sauce and trout roe, these were absolutely spot-on. Beef Empanadas: As someone with high empanada standards, these didn't quite hit the mark. While they were mostly crispy and the meat had good flavor, the texture inside was a little mushy. The saving grace was the fantastic chimichurri sauce. Steak Frites: The steak was tender and flavorful, served with hollandaise and mustard sauces. The accompanying truffle fries, however, were like costume jewelry--glamorous and fancy at first glance, but ultimately just ordinary. The staff was nice and attentive and it was very thoughtful that they told us the 20% tip was included in the bill. Note: The restaurant does get pretty loud and packed, but we got lucky and were seated all the way in the back, which gave us a bit of a haven especially since our group can be a little obnoxious. Pro-tip: if you have a sweet tooth, saunter over to Insomnia Cookies afterward for an incredible treat... It's cookie heaven!
