We stopped by this coffee shop when we visited the kansas city central library. It is tucked into the right side when you walk in the main entrance. There is a 2000s bank/library vibe that matches the rest of the library. It is clean and there are cute flowers at every table. I wouldn't say the service is fast though. We waited about 10 minutes for a sandwich. I also ordered a bernstein latte which was okay but tasted kinda watered down. It was more cute than anything. The graham cracker on the top kinda floated to the bottom and dissolved which brought a weird texture.

A cafe is open in the Central Library!!!!!! From the incredible mind of Chef Shanita McAfee-Bryant who brought us The Spot at The Prospect, the Nook is now open for business! Designed as a learning lab / workforce development training kitchen, the Nook is staffed and run by young students of The Prospect's culinary program. They have a small cafe menu with breakfast sandwiches, lunch options, pastries, coffee, and caffeine free beverages. All options are named after writers to fit the library theme! The pastries in the case look stunning!! We tried the breakfast burrito and the smashed croissant sandwich. Both were delicious! The burrito was a little small for the price. Have some grace and patience for the students as they learn and grow! But I am so glad to see a cafe open in the empty cafe space in the Central Library! Things a great community culinary program to support!

Visited this place twice while staying in downtown KC. I was pleasantly surprised that they had…read moresome solid gf options- I tried the chocolate banana muffin (gf) one morning, which was delicious + not overly sweet, imo. I also got a breakfast burrito (not gf) the second morning, which was delicious + had great heat. The coffee here was also amazing, although I opted for very basic oat milk lattes each morning. My husband got a maple tahini latte one morning + a smoked something or other on the other morning we went. My husband + son got croissants both mornings and loved them, but they also had some seriously cute rainbow donuts on display, which I was a bit shocked that my five year old passed by. The baristas were all very friendly and helpful, which I appreciated + the space was great with an open kitchen concept/plenty of seating. This seems like a great spot to work from, although they also had a wonderful (windy) rooftop to sit on also.. that looked like it had a fireplace for chillier days- so cozy. Best coffee in KC.

I visited Hitide for the first time today and had a lovely experience. The workers were incredibly…read morenice and even wished me a good day by my name on my way out (what a great memory)! The space is very bright and cute - great for a visit to read or doodle (I did a little doodling of the shop during my visit). They even have a little shop area with some super cute and unique KC gear. I had a hot hazelnut latte and it was just okay, the flavor was pretty bland in my opinion and it was automatically served in a to go cup which bums me out. I like to sit and enjoy my coffee right there and love a good hot mug, it's part of the visit experience to me. The cute shop and incredible staff made my visit itself great overall, but the coffee could be leveled up a bit. Nonetheless, I would visit again :)

So the place itself was very cool and I loved the decor and ambience! However, the wait was a lot…read morelonger than I normally experience grabbing a coffee. I do appreciate the good quality though and thankfully had some time to kill. It isn't a place I would go if I was in a rush, but it great place to relax and enjoy the atmosphere. There wasn't a line when I went in, but there were quite a bit of people seated around. I got an iced hazelnut oat latte that tasted great. Next time I'm in the area I will definitely bring my laptop and hang out.
