The Carrisa is a fun spot, especially if you're into whiskey, pretty much every drink here is whiskey‑based. I'm not a huge whiskey person myself, but I really liked the spiked lavender lemonade that was vodka based. It was light, refreshing, and a nice twist that worked for me. If you're a whiskey fan, I'd definitely recommend checking this place out!

This was recommended as a "must do" for Christmas in SLO. While the decor was gorgeous and service was great, the food was a disappointment I ordered the hot chocolate with bourbon, which was good, but definitely overpriced. I was mainly paying for the cute cup for my Instagram story For food, we got the French toast, fingerling potatoes and challah holes. The French toast came with 2 thick slices and were filling but were nothing special flavor wise. The potatoes were probably the best of the three dishes. They were seasoned well. The challah holes were decent, but not worth ordering again This is definitely a place to go for your Instagram but not for the food. Perhaps the dinner menu is better than the brunch

The Service was great the whiskey was even better. Great place to hang out relax and have some drinks on a Thursday night. They even have 25% off on bottles of bourbon and whiskey doing the farmers market on Thursday night.

I attended The Carrisa for their Christmas decoration experience. I will say that they did an amazing job putting together a winter wonderland! The decorations were extravagant and provided some excellent photo opportunities. The staff were very joyous and regularly checked in at every table with a smile on their face! They truly provided a remarkable experience! The food on the other hand was a bit lackluster. The challah French Toast lacked flavor and could've used the quince on top of the toast, rather than hiding below. It was the quince that was the best part of the plate. The challah holes also lacked in flavor. The creme that came along with them was ok, but they would've benefited from some type of dipping sauce. The best part of our order was the fingerling potatoes, but I would've preferred if they came with some type of sauce as well. I did try some excellent hot chocolate though! The Santa cup was a nice touch Overall it was an excellent photo opportunity with great service, but I would tread carefully when perusing the menu.

The Carissa is just what I needed to visit this December! It was well decorated with big ornaments on the ceiling, live band playing Christmas songs, cute photo ops, and Christmas drinks and bites. I love Christmas. And so seeing a place that feels like it came out of a Christmas movie was the cherry on top this holiday! It does get full of reservations inside but you are always welcome to go outside and enjoy your drinks and food. I was on a bit of a time crunch and so I only got 1 holiday drink which was the Reindeer's fuel. It was strong but still really good! I HIGHLY recommend going. They are decorated until January 7th!

BEWARE!! Complete rip off. $5 cover charge. For what? Live music? NO Outstanding service ? NO. We waited 40 min for our drink order and we got there at 4:30 PM. Fancy drinks? See pic of hibiscus margarita. No disclosure on the cover charge by anyone until you got the bill. The rooms were marginally decorated but most were small and reserved anyways. The drinks were ok. Very overpriced and way overhyped. Save your $$$

We went here for brunch the other day with family and friends. I was a lovely day and we sat by the creek. The heater was not functioning, but as soon as the sunshine struck our table, it was warm enough. We had great service from Natalie F. All the other staff was also very friendly and helpful. The menu was small but offered a variety of choices. The oysters were delicious although the mustard seeds detracted from product. The brisket Benedict was enjoyed as was the smash burger. My kimchi fried rice was a miss. The rice was too hard, and the kimchi lacked the typical Korean flavor. The inside venue is very festive and magical. Definitely something to see.

First off, there's a $10 cover charge per person, which they don't tell you about before being seated and is written in small print on the menu. Feels shady being charged to sit in a bar you are paying for near $20 drinks. The service was fine, very slow and our waitress didn't seem enthused to see us. We were not given water and drinks took 25 minutes to come out. The drinks were pretty tasty and strong, and we finished them. When we sat down a couple walked out before no one had helped them, we should have taken it as a sign. We were sitting in a little corner near the front, so didn't get the full ambiance of the restaurant we paid for. Overall the decorations are super cute and are super festive. If you're wanting to splurge on cocktails, I recommend going to night cap down the street.

We came during the holidays because they decorate SO well here. Luckily we were able to walk in but I heard it's recommended to make a reservation. The drinks are STRONG, and therefore don't taste very good. Each drink was almost $20. Not worth it but still a nice experience to see their decor

There are carvings and decorative items all about. Cozy and warm. Historically, there are stories about the various objects and mounted animals. Their menu features a scavenger hunt, which we unsuccessfully tried. The menu is a masterpiece of everything. there is a grazing menu, sandwiches, entrees, a forage menu of basic veggie presentations, and a bar with quite a few very cleaver offerings. Absolutely fascinating interior. Go inside to take it in. You will be struck amazed. Wife and I came in for dinner and were not disappointed. We felt the warmth. Specialty cocktails, draft beer, bottled beer lounge draft 16oz beers and wine by the glass. They also have some fancy custom non-alcohol cocktails. Everyone should be happy. Service was "on" but fulfillment was "off". Wait staff hustled but had to wait for bar and kitchen to come through faster. I don't usually order specialty/fancy cocktails, but was intrigued with a Feral Martini ($17). Got it and found it to be lacking flavor or anything special. It was watery and disappointing. Was surprised when I shared my feelings with our server Camille O. who took it back, credited it from our bill and brought me a replacement of my choice. Way to go! Had a Manhattan ($12) and wife had a red blend wine ($13.50). Now or our meals. Funny that we both has short rib entrees. Wife did the Taco 'bout Delicious ($21), which was short ribs with oaxaca cheese, cilantro, and a dip of house-made consomme. Like a French dip, but different. She dipped and liked it all. My selection of Braise The Bar ($29) was short ribs surmounting a mound of sage-mashed potatoes dosed with pickled onions, blistered shishito peppers (a favorite of mine) and fresh cilantro. An explosion in my mouth and truly yummy. Nothing served here is usual. Some very cleaver people spent a lot of creative energy to architect entrees, cocktails and the rest of the menu so as to be uniquely delicious. My Yelp! profile does not contain many 5-star ratings but now has this one for Feral. Give it a try and this would be a great first date of small group venture.

Both got dishes featuring short ribs, him the mac and cheese, me the entree with mashed potatoes. Pros 1. The pre-dinner cocktails were tasty. 2. The servers were very nice. Cons 1. Wanted wine with dinner. In the middle of California wine country they had only a handful of supermarket-quality wines. 2. The short run was dry and not very flavorful in both dishes. 3. The starches on both plates were not well-prepred. The mac and cheese was SO dry and the mashed potatoes were cold and lacked seasoning. 4. The starter or appetizer selection is quite limited. This wasn't a good meal, and it wasn't a cheap one, either. We won't be back.

Service here was excellent, we were checked up on enough and our server gave great recommendations. Thanks to our server Talia D! They also gave us complementary bread before we received our meal, and a lot of the dishes were unique and plated well. I would come back if I'm ever in the area and would recommend this place to all my friends! All ratings below are averaged (from me and my bf): salmon bisque // 9.25 // very yummy and unique. my bf didn't think he'd like it -- he usually dislikes seafood -- but it was great!! creamy, clear salmon taste but no unpleasant fishy/ocean taste that a lot of seafood has. i've never had this anywhere else, props to the chef! thai green curry // 8.5 // my bf says it's a 9. it's good but i feel like it was not my fave, it's lowkey your good, standard green curry that you can get at any thai place duck breast (curry) // 8.75 // very delicious and unique, i'd rate the curry, rice, and duck breast as 9/10, the duck breast itself was a 10/10. the curry was creamy, and they were all delicious and fragrant, pairing well together. however, the mushrooms, carrots, and other veggies it came with are too sweet. they seem like they're glazed with a sauce that has too much sugar. the black rice was surprisingly very filling strawberry matcha trifle // 8 // yummy, nothing majorly wrong with it. reminds me of a strawberry matcha latte. matcha whipped cream was a nice, unique touch i haven't really seen elsewhere despite it not sounding difficult to make. i'd order it again but i feel like it's on the sweeter side, so you can't eat too much of it.

Food: started off with the brussel sprouts and man, those were so so good. Brussel sprouts, goat cheese, pancetta, etc. you get what I'm saying. Flash fried perfectly. We had the salmon bisque and Soup De Novo, which was a vegetable curry soup. These both could have essentially been meals. The salmon bisque was absolutely loaded with salmon. From what I heard about it, it tasted amazing. (I don't eat salmon). The vegetable curry soup was very flavorful and blended smoothly. If you ordered rice on the side, it would have been just like an entire meal. Tikki Masala Chicken - man, that airline chicken was cooked perfectly. Juicy and tender, great flavor, no a single thing wrong with it. The rice and vegetables were fantastic, especially the carrots. I don't know why they seemed extra good, but they were. 2 orders of the Ribeye. Once cooked medium and mine, cooked medium rare. Unfortunately, when mine came out, I immediately could tell that it was nowhere near cooked right. It was actually well done. When the waiter came back, I said "I'm sorry to have to do this..." and before I could finish he said "oh yea, that's definitely not medium rare, let me have the kitchen refire that for you". I dislike sending food back, but when you're spending $58 on a ribeye dinner, it HAS to be correct. (Note- the manager remedied the issue quick..came to the table, offered soup, bread, etc, which I had already eaten soup, so he comped 50% off the steak. Nice gesture!) The rest of the vegetables paired with the ribeye were very good. If someone told you the white bean puree was mashed potatoes, most people would believe it. Very creamy and delicious. The Italian salsa verde on top was also very fulfilling. Overall the dinner was very good.
