Unbelievable!! Wish i could leave zero starts! Just left there 9:30 pm May 3rd 2025 The absolute worst attitude from our waitress and the manager! Where do i start? When we arrived 7:30 pm the guy at the us check in - I believe he was the manager or at least he seemed to be - We told him we did not need a menu, we were here for the live music because a friend knew the group and would have only drinks - It was like we offended him, no smile, no welcome, just escorted us to the table - as cold a reception as you could possible get! If it weren't for the fact that we were here with our friends, i would have walked out! The waitress was no better - never smiled, never made us feel welcomed, never once thanked you for being there - Was more concerned with how fast she could deliver our drinks - The manager at one point came to our table and asked if we needed more drinks, we told him we were waiting for our waitress to return - evidently he confronted her because she returned to our table immediately. This manager was more concerned with how much profit he would make rather than our experience in his restaurant. Whiskey Jax is very convenient for me to visit since I live right down the street, so when I feel like "going out" I usually walk over to Whiskey Jax. Some would say it's a dive bar, but it's a bit nicer than that. Trust me, I love a good dive bar and this bar is a little more classy than that. There are usually bands during the weekend, some are very good and some not so much; but it's great to have live music when going out. The drinks are great and they make them strong. They also have a great selection of craft beers on draft. The food here is pretty good too. I have had the shrimp & artichoke dip, hamburger, and been to brunch a couple of times. I wish during brunch they had a bloody mary bar; they do have unlimited mimosas I think. The staff here is wonderful. The owner is nice and the bartenders are super attentive at keeping your glass full. The crowd here is a bit older; and that's coming from a 50 year old. lol. But it's a lot of fun. Let me start by saying that it takes really good food and great service for me to give a five star review. I went on a Thursday evening for a happy hour with friends from work. Whiskey Jacksonville has a happy hour that goes from 4 to 7. It's not the best happy hour ($1 off beers) but it's not bad. Trivia also starts at 7 on Thursday and although there was no one in the restaurant when we arrived at 5:30 most of the tables were reserved for people who did not show up until around 7. We had starters. We tried the wings, the avacado fries, the chicken nachos and the fried green tomatoes. Everyone liked their dishes. No one thought they were great. There were only two waitresses so service was average. The portions sizes were good and the appetizer are shareable by two people. The place did fill up around 7:00 with trivia teams. There were only a few tables open after 7:00. There is outdoor seating but no one was sitting outside and it was a great night. read more

First time going to Whiskey Jax. The waitress was very nice and helpful. The drinks are really good. Out of four drinks they all were on point. The food is okay, depending on what you're ordering. Friday nights are their live band, which we were unaware of. This spot is predominantly white mid 30's to 60's. Not a mix crowd at all. Oh it has been a long time Whiskey Jax. We used to come here back in 2014 when they first opened, back when we used to live on Baymeadows. It has probably been about 2 year since we were here but a friend of ours asked if we wanted to get brunch so of course we were in. We arrived Sunday morning and it was pretty empty. We sat ourselves and our waitress though I'm pretty sure she said she was actually the bartender quickly brought us menus. To drink I ordered the bottomless Mimosas ($10 great price) which were quickly brought back out to us. For my meal or ordered the Eggs Benedict Maryland Style they come with Crab cakes instead of Canadian Bacon ($10.5). As we waited for our food our waitress made sure we never found the bottom of our mimosas and was extremely attentive. Our food then came out pretty quickly. My Crab Cake Benny was pretty good. Not the best I have ever had but still very good especially for the price. All and all we had a great time at brunch thanks to our waitress doing a great job plus the good food. Food was fantastic! Also enjoyed the prickly pear margarita. Our waitress Hanna did a great job. My only complaint would be that the live band was too loud. We sat in a booth and couldn't hear each other from across the table. I even moved to the same side of the booth as the other person and we still had to yell in each other's ear. read more

This was my first visit to Whiskey Jax and I'm so glad my friend invited me to meet her for happy hour. The service and food were top notch. We started off with the avocado fries. I love avocado and this was such a great twist on this yummy fruit. They were served with a delicious dipping sauce that I want to learn how to make. I had the spicy chicken soup of the day which was so flavorful. I loved the hot kick. My entree was the chicken caesar salad which was served with fresh shaved parmesan and homemade rye croutons. I do not eat rye, but they were so light and crispy. The lettuce was fresh and I absolutely loved the red pepper caesar dressing. And I can't forget they gave me lots of chicken. I ended my meal with the pineapple and coconut cake which was so smooth and creamy. The atmosphere was relaxed and inviting. And our server was very attentive and friendly. Love this spot! read more

Bennigan's didn't have a night club, but this place turns up. i'll get to the latter later. We initially sat at a high top in the bar area. We ordered a Tito's with Sprite and a lime and Four Roses Yellow on the rocks, which were priced at $10 and $6.50, respectively. Now, that's not too bad, but we didn't get another round. After we placed our orders we were summoned to the patio by one of my energetic alumni to watch the game with other Penn Staters. Our server's name was Olivia and she's definitely on top of her game so luckily she was able to continue to assist us while out there. I've said enough, you're here for the food. I ordered a WJ Classic with no bun and a side salad. The burger was cooked to a perfect medium and the pickled onions were a very nice touch. Well played Whiskey Jax. My wife ordered a salad adorned with a heaping of poultry protein. She also had the lobster bisque, which was EVERYTHING. If you have a chance, don't cheat yo'self, treat yo'self. I've been here a couple times Saturday by far was the worst.. The band and atmosphere was fantastic however the bartending staff could you use some lessons in customer service. I even witnessed a Customer asking for a drink and the bar tender simply stuck both hands in the air, flipped off the customer and turned and walked the other way. Obviously understaffed but the bartenders that were working We're more focused on serving a couple of guys who were doinf shots with them and leaving the majority of the customers neglected. This has become a Mother's Day tradition for us. We have never needed reservations in the past and today we almost weren't so lucky, but the hostess made it happen. I always enjoy coming here because the staff is always friendly and not over attentive or under attentive. The food is always magnificent as well. Today I chose the fried green tomatoes and the chimichurri steak tacos. The fried green tomatoes are a favorite of mine and I enjoy them every time. The tacos were listed at $8.50 and the wording made it seem as though I would only receive one, but it actually came with two! Yesterday I left a review of Blue Pacific Taco about the price for an unmanigable taco and their goto excuse was "We use a 6" tortilla". Well, so does Whiskey Jax and they know how to properly portion the tacos as well. Yesterday I paid $7 for 1 way over-stuffed taco, and today I paid $8.50 for two perfectly portioned tacos. Are you paying attention Blue Pacific?? Ugh! Anyways, we had a party of 5 and everyone enjoyed their meals from the blue chips, banging shrimp tacos, the hash, and the shrimp and grits. Came in on a Friday night before the band started playing and grabbed a seat at the bar. They were out of avocado fries so we tried the bangin shrimp. They were so good and the flavor was perfect. Then we split a breakfast burger and it was amazing. It has a fried egg, hashbrown , and bacon jam all on it. The burger was cooked perfectly. The fries were mediocre. The two lady bartenders were very friendly and kept our drinks full. We had such a great time. By the tome we left, the band was about to start playing and the bar area was full of people. read more

I would just like to preface this review with the fact that my boyfriend ordered happy hour hummus (that turned into wings because they were out of hummus), it's been 45 minutes, and I'm still waiting. In addition, a nasty odor waxes and wanes towards our table and I hope it's coming from the bathrooms rather than the kitchen. This place is poorly run and unkept. I can count more than enough staff to handle the restaurant/bar and they still can't manage to keep things churning. It is incredibly difficult to get the attention of any server here, you're better off hassling the bartender for food. My wings came finally after an hour and 15 minutes of waiting and they are bland and dry. I would give this place negative stars if I could and I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Good happy specials with lots of local beers, enjoyable drinks, interesting food and friendly service. They have cheap beer and cocktail specials, their Maker's Mark Old Fashioned is made just right. The bourbon Cuban sandwich is a unique take on a classic sandwich with ham, pulled pork, bourbon pickles, and bourbon mustard. The sandwich is a must try if you like Cubans and enjoy a subtle bourbon flavor and is so big two could consider splitting depending on your appetite. The Parmesan grits are a worthy side and something I've never seen anywhere else. I enjoyed this place and would come back here to check it out again. We went to Whiskey Jax to watch the Super Bowl and to eat some fatty, fried snacks. With TVs on every wall, it was a great place to watch a game. They also offered a $0.75 wing special for the event. They have several flavor options for the wings - cajun ranch, whiskey glaze, buffalo bourbon, tobago key peruvian gold, and a dry rub. We tried three of these options and they were food, but nothing special. The real issue was that one plate of wings wasn't fully cooked...that's a food safety issue. The manager was kind enough to remove it from the bill. The fries were good and the cheesecake was rich and heavy, as expected. Service was not the best, but that seems to be a common theme throughout the reviews. Our server was pleasant, but she was difficult to find when we actually needed something. Prices here were a little higher than what you'd expect from a bar/gastropub. While this is isn't a place that I would return to on a frequent basis, it's a decent place to watch a sporting event. read more

A party of eight for Saturday night drinks, dinner and live music. Reservations were a must and the band drew in a capacity crowd with most large group table's arriving about the same time. Esther did a fantastic job with service under very busy and cramped circumstances. Appetizers of chips, bang-bang shrimp and stuffed mushrooms were delicious and cocktails were fantastic. My filet was perfectly seasoned and grilled with delicious sides served hot. The other meals at the table disappeared with equal gusto. One table mate raved about the Boison Chicken. Today was pretty disappointing, we arrived and sat down and it took over 20 mins before anyone even noticed that we were sitting there, though in that time one waitress/hostess walked by us 4 times, another waiter walked by us twice and a waitress taking care of the table right beside us walked right by. It was like we were invisible - I don't understand that. The waitress that finally acknowledged wasn't even our waitress and wanted to help but because it wasn't her table/section she couldn't so then we sat waiting more. So almost 30 mins and the game starting we finally were greeted - service unbearably slow, and took forever for things to happen. Once upon a time this was our regular hangout. The atmosphere was always inviting, the food was great, our team was the trivia champs & the bartenders were heavy handed. Didn't get nostalgia of any sorts today but the food is still decent. The fried green tomatoes are awesome, they were fried just right ( and they were super ripe, which reminds me to Google when green tomatoes are in season) and topped with crumbled goat cheese. I opted for Chimmi Churri steak tacos & my foodie in crime opted for the Bangin Mango shrimp tacos. The tacos were pretty darn goods. The steak ones were loaded with my fav goat cheese & the shrimp ones had this amazing mixture of mango, corn & Parmesan cheese.
