BANDS BEWARE Our band has been booked at this venue for the first Saturday of 2016 (1/2/16) since September of 2015. We have played there before, with great reception, and based on that performance were invited back. We secured a second band, coming up from Los Angeles, to join us that evening. TWO DAYS before an event that we had held on our calendar for over THREE MONTHS, we were notified via the promoter that we were canceled because the band members weren't 21. This should have been NO SURPRISE to the venue. We played there before. We don't hide the band members' ages - they are freely available on the band bio. To add insult to injury, all voicemails, texts, and emails to the venue have been unreturned. They will not even discuss this with the band, having all messages go through the promoter. They didn't even give us the courtesy of acknowledging receipt of said voicemails, texts, and emails. We have non-refundable hotels booked and now are left with hotel reservations and no gig. I cannot express how upset I am with their lack of professionalism. read more

This place is very fun, we bar hopped in here by chance no cover. Two pool tables by entrance and on sat nights it is karaoke. Usually karaoke is scary with old people trying to relive their singing career at a place called parrot bay... even with the bad singing everyone is dancing and encouraging. It could have been the booze. The crowd her is early 20s with few early 40s. Limited seating but nice stage in back next to photo booth. The photo booth is 2 for $3 which is great. Totally different experience than the old club feel. read more

Stopped by here for a few drinks to check out the local bars since I recently moved here. Very cool crowd and bartenders. The drinks are pretty reasonably priced, definitely more affordable than my old city. I got an old fashioned and they made a pretty delicious one, guess it makes sense since the name has Whiskey in it. read more

AHHH YES! Punk Rock salvation on an over-commercialized downtown strip. Great place to grab a few beers with friends. Every Wednesday is Punk On Vinyl which is one of my favorite theme nights in Santa Barbara to go to. It's like a little slice of Los Angeles in Santa Barbara. The three places i feel safest in this world is home, at work, and at Whiskeys. Been coming to this bar for years and it's like a second home to me. My "cheers" bar. Even met my fiancé here haha. Best bartenders in town, generous pours, and the regulars look out for people. One of the only places left in SB you can enjoy a cigarette with your drink on the patio and people watch. It's not an overpriced fancy tourist trap which I love but its welcoming and just the right amount of "dive" with friendly service every time. Miss you Whiskeys! read more

This is a punk rock bar and in the words of Fat Mike : "Mean People Suck". That is for all the people who go out of their way to hate on the only real bars left in Santa Barbara. Sorry there aren't $17 dollar cocktails, kambeerchas and a place for you to store your yoga mats but after all this bar is named after a sexual innuendo so you probably might have expected to not find a "safe space" here. I can never wrap my head around these reviews. Saying you were "appalled" by the smell of a dive bar is like writing a negative review of a public swimming pool because you got wet, or a metal concert that was "too loud". Of course it smells like disinfectant, of course there are drunks there, of course the bartender is grumpy when you order a sazerac or a negroni. Look around you. If everyone is drinking a PBR and Jameson - maybe don't order an elaborate cocktail. Whiskey's is a great shot and beer bar. And Crash can make the shit out of an old fashioned when the time is right. Word to the traveller with fancy tastes - please do as the locals do and order a tall boy and a well whiskey and relax. read more

Tonight I wanted to go out and my friends were at this place for Halloween, so I jumped into a cab and got there. It was raining like crazy and the guy lets my in but just enough for me not to be all wet, then he checks my ID which is a French one and turns to his buddy to double check. This jerk pretends to call his boss to ask if I can go in. He then looks at me saying "You can't get in, your ID is just not good, you could have made it yourself". After a long arguing in the rain, I find myself on the sideway under the rain (cause they asked me to leave) calling for a cab to pick me up. They apparently don't know how to make money. Furthermore when my friend came out to help me find a cab, he had to pay to get in again... They're crazy! read more

for being a bar on State St (aka amateur central)...this bar ruled. we had to leave the current bar we were in because they thought live entertainment by a college dropout was a good idea. note to them, IT'S NOT. please just let us play the juke box. anyways, we stumbled on down to whiskey richards (whiskey dick's, HA!) and were pleasently surprised to only find 3 other people drinking in here and the Clash playing. hurray! it looks like a beat up old punk club(though it's only a year old) with 2 pool tables, 2 dart boards, and a couple video games. they have an internet juke box so you can play whatever you want. i opted for some hair metal and southern rock. doi. we played pool, multiple shots of jameson, a couple beers, and happily walked up to the corner and got a slice of pizza before our venture back to the hotel. basically if you want to skip the lame college kids and those older dudes that creep after them, go here. a great place to just shut up and drink. read more

This place was pretty bad-ass. Prices for drinks are awesome. I ordered 2 whiskey sours and got charged $8 for them. They had a small live band performing which was very entertaining. I'm not usually one for folk music but they had my foot tapping. To top it off there's a photobooth. Always say yes to the photobooth. read more

The drinks are cheap and the bar tenders pour generously. You can always find someone to play you in a game of pool or pin ball. The crowd is different from night to night and almost from hour to hour. This is the type of place where anyone from the homeless to multimillionaires can rub elbows and all are having a good time. My favorite part is sitting out front and people watching. You know it's a cool place to hang out when the people that work there choose to hang out when they are off duty. I think it is the bar tenders and other employees that make this place so special. I hope the owners realize this and do what they can to keep the vibe going. read more

We are new to Santa Barbara & were looking for a bar to enjoy ourselves. This bar is the place to be, just not when a drunken employee who is off and still wasted at her place of employment. Funny the same people posted about the same thing the last couple of days...these comments are pretty low and barbaric but hey, to each their own. This place is FAR from whatever these people whom are clearly NOT from the area say. These are one of the most reliable, amazing and caring staff.... always providing the best customer service, one in particular bartender Brendan is amazing. He goes above and beyond his level of customer service to provide you with the best experience possible. I was fortunate enough to meet the owners and they were so charming and also very respectful and friendly, they're the type of people that sit next to you and chat with you for awhile and just make you feel right at home. Monday night is open mic night. It's usually my favorite night to go check out the talent. A lot of wonderful musicians and great comedians perform on stage it's pretty awesome! They often have wonderful happy hour and their drink prices can't get any better...Thanks Brenden for making my experiences so fulfilling, i don't know who trained you but they get a huge thumbs up from me!
