What a gem of a find. We were visiting for the weekend, and I was searching for a decent restaurant in the area and this place had great reviews. I was so happy they were open for brunch. I will say it was a bit confusing entering in, because there was no host and you just had to wander around the empty dining area until you found the bar. The restaurant was open in the back by the bar for brunch. Our waiter was the bartender and he was excellent. Especially when he had like 9 tables at once. We got there right at open and ordered a bit of everything to try. Everything we ordered was delicious and executed so nicely. I got a pork chop dish that was so tasty. When I moved to town, I was concerned if we would find fine dining, it's always been important to us when we need a break. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Whisky Woods has a prohibition vibe, it's a beautiful restaurant with beautiful views, right off of the square.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The chef Scott & his crew are all amazing! From steaks to seafood, sushi, brunch specials on the weekend everything I have ever had has been top top notch, especially the steaks! I absolutely adore the cauliflower casserole. If you have not tried it I'm telling you to go on in and get it right now! They have done the greatest job, selecting a staff that is incredibly kind and helpful, beautiful people with beautiful hearts, such as the owners! Treated my parents to an Anniversary dinner her on 12/27/25. They have been here before but my first time. I ordered the Beef Rib and my mother ordered the Pork Chop. I forget what my dad ordered. Not sure about how the Pork Chop tasted Howe the Beef Rib was really tender. The sides of cauliflower and kale were also very good. Our server was Cory. He does his job well and very attentive. We came here for 23rd wedding anniversary. Although we live in Granbury, we wanted to try something new. I'm glad we did. As the name states, WhiskeyWoods (no space) is a steakhouse, and that is exactly what my wife wanted. Our server, Cory, was very helpful with the menu. We started with the fois gras appetizer, which was delicious. Thuy went for the filet, medium rare. I went NY strip, also medium rare. Both steaks were cooked perfectly. It's so disappointing when it's not, and Thuy does not hesitate to send a poorly cooked steak back. No such drama tonight (10/6/2024). As dinner was winding down, Thuy and I thought we were too full to even contemplate desert, but our server informed us they received a call from our friends, and they bought us desert (for our anniversary. so sweet.). Oh, lets look at the desert menu. Thuy went with her go-to, creme brulee. I went with Thuy's second favorite, chocolate lava cake. Both delicious. Not being familiar with the restaurant, after dinner, we explored it. Our first impression made us think it was a small place, with a very small, yet intimate, dinning room. Well, we were wrong. There is another, similarly sized dinning room, but that was not the real surprise. The back of the building is a large room, with a different, less expensive menu. There's a bar, TVs, and I think I recall pool tables (not 100% on that recollection, it's been a while). There's a large patio out back, and we learned there are often bands that play there. Pretty cool! Bottom line here is, we will be back. Maybe for the music, but definitely to try the other menu. read more

My wife had the filet, I had the ribeye. The were both the worst cuts of meat I have seen in my 60+ years of living in Texas. The potatoes were bland. This is by far the most unique meal I have had in a long time. The port chop was easily top 3 best ever if not THE best. It was huge and well grilled and covered with a chutney, but also sat a top of gravy so you had a chance to go both sweet and savory and oh my God was that good. The turnip bread pudding was not sweet and just a very unique item that I've never seen on a menu before. The greens were spot delicious and I have no idea how they got them so good! My fiancé had a steak that he said is also probably top three if not best steaks he's ever had from a restaurant. I expected good food here, but this was above and beyond. Great wine, beer and cocktails. Great place in Glen Rose! We came the night before Valentine's Day. We enjoyed the most expensive dinner I've ever had! The filet was cooked perfectly. Sides were good. The wedge salad was excellent. I am hoping from another review I read, that we had the limited special menu with 35% upcharge , as I would not be able to afford a return visit. Drinks were reasonably priced though. After the Spartan races, we headed to WhiskyWoods. We ordered the gumbo & burger. We were seated on the bar side with the TVs. Our waitress Andrea was exceptionally friendly & responsive. The gumbo was wonderfully delicious, and they didn't skimp on the scallops & shrimps either. Lightly grilled toast was served with the gumbo and greatly added to our enjoyment of the gumbo. The juicy burgers were 10 oz and exactly what we needed after the race. My chips were crispy and flavorful and promptly shared with my friends Great place to get our proteins after our race. Here's the bottom line. I'm holding you to higher standards bc of your prices. I think that's fair. Service was slow and not exceptionally friendly. The calamari and cheese board apps were very good. The steaks and pecan crusted fish were just meh. The greens were very bitter. When you pay $48 for a steak it's shouldn't be tuff and chewy. Bottom line overpriced ok food. If you like paying a lot and being underwhelmed, you won't be upset. I guess I was expecting more for the hype and price. Again the food was ok but when it's that expensive I just expected more. And it was my dad's 80th birthday and wish he had received a better meal. First time last time. Good luck with it. read more

The place was busy for a Wednesday, however the service was terrible. 20 mins to get a water refilled, drinks coming from the bar were non existent unless 30 mins passed. Food is really steep for what it was... management please make sure when a large party comes in and gives notice , please be prepared for it. What great place, great food and quiet atmosphere for dinner, they do have a large bar area if you like noise and music, the service was fantastic, and the food was perfect, everything was exceptional, from the sides to the main course, we had the Bacon wrapped, chorizo stuffed dates and Sashimi Tuna Nachos, which by the way were very delicious, we ended with the bread pudding and chocolate cake which was kinda like a lava cake, overall what a great dining experience. Fantastic experience! Me and my husband have been to many fine dining spots (a lot of Gordon Ramsey places), I was unsure we'd find anything like that in Glen Rose. We tried the bacon wrapped quail which had a mango sauce that was just heavenly. We also got the pork chop and the scallops. Everything was extremely well executed and exceeded our expectations--very tasty! The waiter was very attentive and was helpful in narrowing down what dishes we should try. Cody is a fantastic waiter and really made our experience top notch. And as for the chef, he curates some wonderful dishes that were just..... chef kiss! We tried a different place to eat the following nice and regretted not coming back to Whiskey Woods instead. We can't wait to drive back in from Dallas and try out new dishes as the menu evolves. The location is right in the heart of downtown, we were same to walk right in and get a seat. We were initially going to sit in the bar area but it had a completely different ambiance compared to the dining room; we swapped to the main dining without an issue. In town for a trail race so came by to check out the scene and the grub. Decided on the cheese plate cuz it was just so abundant and awesome! Honeycomb, fresh fruits and wonderful portions of different cheeses. Grilled buttery bread on the side. Chopped it up with the friendly folks at the bar! Vibes were vibing. We had the ahi nachos which I highly recommend plus the other two couple ordered shrimp cocktail and the bacon wrapped quail holy smokes it was all delicious. Now for the down side . Arrived 15 minutes early , was seated 40 minutes later.. it was a condensed menu with 30-35% up charge. I get it"NewYears" but let's just say 1890 Granbury prices with Road House quality. We were a little shocked as we walked through a very cozy dining area and were seated in the bar in the back with all the TVs going so that was a half star dink (the dining area had plenty of available tables). Great service and we had multiple people waiting on us and making sure everything was taken care of. The other half star was that it took quite a while to get the food. But, it was SO WORTH THE WAIT!
