Wow! What a magical place this was! My family of 12 stayed in the Chalet cabin right before thanksgiving so we had some snow. It was absolutely nothing short of an amazing time! I would have given it five stars but the place was a bit dated. The cabin was stocked with everything we needed. They have a Walmart nearby so you don't have to worry about pre - packing your food. The best part is that there is a golf course located right behind the cabin so we had our own private oasis of snow! I do have to say that you will need to take your own shampoo, conditioner, and body soaps because the ones provided are a bit harsh on both your hair and skin. We enjoyed it so much that we will definitely be returning next year! read more

For $220 a night this was a huge rip off. The real kicker was the $220 included a cleaning fee. The girl who checked us in reminded us to be sure to wash any kitchen ware we used. What exactly is the cleaning fee for. Place was filthy...front door looked like it had been egged, under the bed and in the corners there was visible dirt and debris. The tiny window unit wasn't on when we arrived and it took forever to cool the place. The patio was covered in thick pollen...all over the grill, table and chair. Obviously hadn't been cleaned in a while...I have pics of the whole mess. The interior carpentry, for a cabin at this price, was hugely disappointing. Shower couldn't be engaged all the way, cause the spout at the tub was lose. Don't know about their other cabins but Blue Spruce is a dump for $220 a night. Beware...it should have been more like $90 a night at best...you've been warned. Photos don't lie! read more

We started in the "Cabin Fever" for four days and three nights. Upon arrival the check in desk was very welcoming. The cabin itself was so warm and musky. Must've been because it's pet friendly so hence why it must've smelled alittle unpleasant, and our dog was all sniffing around, but we open all the windows that were able to open and aired the cabin out. The carpets to be honest can use a little shampoo cleaning and the a/c unit would take FOREVER to get to the lowest temperature allowed which is 75. So we recommend you sleep with a few windows open. Luckily the days & nights we stayed were a lot cooler than most days. Other than that for the money you're paying on the space is worth it. The bedroom was clean we loved the bathroom and the jetted tub, and thankfully the bed was clean. The pull out couch had few spots but thankfully they provided sheets to cover and sleep on. There is cable. The guest bathroom is also neat only sucks how the toilet bowl is high and toilet paper dispenser is not in arms reach. The stand up tub is perfect only needs a knob or hook for towels. Inside the guest bathroom you'll find the washer and dryer as well. In the kitchen believe it's a FULL kitchen. You've got a coffee bar, fridge and freezer, stove with oven, microwave and dishwasher super spacious with a four seating table plus 3 seats at the island. They provide you with salt and pepper, coffee with cream and sugar, pita and pans, silverwares and utensils and cups and dishes, crockpot, blender, cutting boards, also they give you towels, rags, trash bags, paper towels, sponges and dish soap. I highly would recommend the cabin fever. We we're able to save more by cooking in our cabin. Albertson's is just a 6 min drive and Walmart; 12. read more

We are in the blue spruce cabin. Very nicely decorated. Very clean and comfortable. All the comforts of home. A bit deceived by the location. I anticipated a very secluded area when in fact, we are on road frontage and it is a busy road. However, if they allow dogs and have every amenity you could hope for. I plan to rent a big cabin in the spring for the whole family. Really close to everything. Great to walk to town. read more

I really wanted to give it 5 stars, because we have had a nice time. It's a cute cabin, but it was not clean when we got here. Mold in the shower, dust and dust bunny build up on the walls. The floors were dirty and the bath towels were dusty. The furniture was dusty too. The yard was still littered from the guests before us. Ash tray wasn't emptied... it's not a deal breaker, because the area is awesome and peaceful, but more care needs to be taken in cleaning. All that said, we are booked with Whispering Pines for February in a larger, different cabin for a vacation with our grown sons. read more

Top-notch check-in, check-out, and experience. We stayed in the "Little Pine" cabin. It was clean and tidy--not a spec of dirt anywhere when we checked in. All appliances, outlets, plumbing, heating, WiFi (included, and very stable) and cable TV functioned as expected. The cabin sits next to a couple of undeveloped lots, and that's where the buck and his does hung out. We saw them multiple times each day, accompanied by baby deer born this year. Very quiet area (we'd asked for that because we brought our two sled dogs and an LGD and we wanted them to have less stimulus in a new environment). Being a dog-friendly service, WP suggested Little Pine and that was genius. Did I mention dog-friendly cabins? We pick hotel stays based on their dog-friendliness so it was no challenge to select Whispering Pines. The business end of Whispering Pines was highly professional and transactions happened easily online. The experience end of Little Pine cabin was highly-satisfying.* *Our dogs thought different: they were constantly on alert for the next deer parade by the cabin. That happened twice a day while we were there, shortly after dawn and again in the evening. The dogs reported their dislike to us, and on night walks had to sniff every centimeter of the route the deer had taken down. Amenities to mention: gas stove for cooks who hate electric; full-size fridge; flash water heater for instant, perpetual hot water; gas grill with fuel provided. I stayed at the Mac Cabin for 4 nights. Perfect time of the season. Our first night we got snow. Word of advice: buy some tire chains for your vehicle, its worth it. The customer service was great, a lot better than traditional 5 star hotel service. The managers had great attitudes, were very informative, and provided prompt customer service upon request. Perfect for families with small children. We had friendly deer show up at our doorstep each morning and we would feed them corn tortillas......LOL. I will definitely be coming back to Wispering Pine Cabins. read more

We stayed in Wild at Heart over the weekend. The cabin was super cute and I loved how spacious it was. I will say, when we arrived at the cabin we could tell the cleanliness was not a top concern. There were old coffee grinds in the coffee maker, plenty of dust, junk in the couches, and the dishes in the cabinets were dirty. The hot tub is off of the back deck but is right by a septic tank so the smell was pretty bad. We couldn't use the hot tub as much as we would've liked to because of the smell. The master suite had a really nice bathroom and the bed was super comfy. There was a smoke detector upstairs that started beeping due to low batteries on our last night there so listening to that all night drove me crazy! I appreciated they had directv when we wanted to just relax or keep the kids busy. We went right in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic. We tried to change our trip dates because of it but were told we'd be charged one nights stay which is $400 so we decided to go through with it anyways. I understand everywhere is struggling right now so they didn't want to lose the business but to know a national emergency can be ongoing and they aren't able to change things just isn't something I support. read more

We stayed in the Roadrunner Cabin, avoid it! Very substandard bathroom, it looked patched together by a 9th grade shop student. The heater in the cabin was very noisy. In order to sleep,we bought our own space heater. The bathroom had no heater/vent, it was a good thing we bought a space heater. The decor was ok, and the location was good. The cabin that my family of 7 stayed in was well-equipped - there was really no need to even bring a change of clothing as our cabin (Mountain View) had a washer and dryer. It also had just about every kitchen utensil on could think of, a gas grill, a dishwasher, and a hot tub. The really big bonus was not just having a coffee maker, but the pantry was also stocked with coffee! Other amenities included wifi, a DVD player, and cable TV. We stayed in River View and loved it! The cabin was clean, tidy, and updated. The view from the wrap around porch could not be beat. Every day we were visited by wildlife and every morning we enjoyed listening to the creek behind the cabin. The cabin is close to the Main Street as well, with only a short walk to restaurants and shopping. They are also pet friendly, which is great! I will say that because the cabin is elevated, it does occasionally feel as if it is rocking, either from strong winds or someone walking down the hallway too heavily; this can be a bit concerning, though we got over that fear fast enough. There was also no AC, but floor fans were provided in each room for extra comfort if necessary. Honestly this place was nicer than what I was expecting. If I visit Ruidoso again, I will be looking for availability here! read more

Just stayed in their "River View" and "River's Edge" cabin. The one we stayed in (River View) was clean and quite nice. We had a spot directly next to the creek, my family and I loved sitting outside just to hear it. There is also a lot of wildlife (namely Mule Deer). The provided dumpsters were bear proof as well. However, some of the beds were awful and what I would expect from a low end motel. The ceiling fan in one of the bedrooms also could not be used on "high" because of the serious wobble it had; we thought it would come completely out of the ceiling! However, it was not stated in the cabin descriptions that neither of the homes had A/C. TL;DR: cabin was pretty nice and had a great view but if you want A/C in the summer time, don't stay here. Or you could just buy a plug in A/C from the Walmart, either way, I think we will be back. read more

When we got to the cabin, it was in overall good shape, but we did notice one of the blinds were broken. Since the cabin was clean, we figured they knew about it, but a few days after we left they charged us $70 for something we did not do. We called them on the phone to sort the issue out, but they would not listen to us. They were rude, unreasonable, unprofessional, and even childish. They cussed us out and hung up on us. We will never give them our business, again, and we advise others to use caution if you chose to deal with them. Parking is also difficult. We stayed in the cabin called Coyote. read more

As a returning customer to Whispering Pines since my son was little. Come here every fall or winter but NEVER again. Major snow storm and all roads are closed in and out of Ruidoso but the owner insists we leave for incoming customer. I kindly asked her if she would call to see if they're going to be able to make it in and she said that's just too many phone calls to make. I feel like it was the least she could do under the circumstances. Clearly it's about the money and not the health and safety of people. We are very disappointed for all the good memories made here in the past. read more

We stayed at Lofty Pines Cabin! Super cute! Is suppose to sleep 6, but we had 4 and we have enough room. 6 would of been a little tight. The private hot tub was awesome! So worth it! We got snowed in one day and couldn't go skiing. They still honored their 3rd night free since we arrived on Sunday with 2 day ski and refunded us the rentals and ski lifts. I would of never thought that would of happened! Great customer service and we will be staying there next time we visit!!! read more

Worst trip I have EVER had. First of all when you go into any place, cabin, hotel, motel, you name it, the sheets HAVE to be clean regardless. I got to ruidoso and got ready in the cabin which I do agree it was beautiful in some areas, but once I wanted to take a shower, the water was hot for 5 minutes and started spewing out cold water! I couldn't even shower, then I decide well, I'm gonna try the whirlpool, can't even fill the damn thing up 2" without getting cold water. Decided to address the issue in a more reasonable hour considering the woman that works there has children and possibly has to sleep. So cool my husband and I decide to watch some tv and movies, 3 in the morning comes up, I'm tired of watching Rob and Bigs show, I decided I'm ready for bed. I pull back sheets and there are these disgusting stains! I mean common sense says whether they're nasty stains or good stains, you can't have a bed looking like that! Replace the damn sheets! So freaking grossed out we packed our things got in the car called the office about 50 times we went to there office/home because we were not provided an emergency number, and no one answers! We then decide to sleep on the pull out bed fully clothes bc we don't know what other sheets weren't washed! Then they come over at 9am, guy who owns the cabin comes over checks the sink for 2 minutes and says he's gonna fix the issue, takes him 4 hours to give us new sheets. So then after the new sheets we think that the water has been fixed, we go start the whirlpool, not even 2" over and boom cold water so we try and handle it take a cold whirlpool shower and at that point I'm fed up with calling them, I can't even shower and I'm extremely not satisfied with the sheets and basically the entire night at cabin fever. It was the worst cabin stay I've ever had. I go to the office and ask for a refund because what were promised wasn't given! Who wants to pay $180 dollars to sleep on a pull out bed meant for children and can't even take a nice shower! That is RIDICULOUS. To top it off we couldn't even leave that night because other lodges that are pet friendly weren't answering their phones. So once we speak to them about a refund they decide that we don't deserve one because we didn't have an emergency number that was not provided? We also don't get a refund because we stayed one night any way? I tried to leave, I tried banging on their home door, it WAS cause for an emergency and it shouldn't take 4 hours to return with clean sheets. I'm so upset with this place, I don't recommend it to anyone. Cabin fever is the worst cabin and once u try and explain how u feel and how disgusted u are, they get greedy and decide to keep your money. Then the manager won't give us the contract we supposedly sign until we sign the receipt, which is completely ILLEGAL! Not only that but come on, really? They want me to pay $154 dollars to stay on a freakin pull out bed and offer one night free when the first night should have been free because the place was gross! Not my fault. Now I have to dispute the charges and I'm completely upset with this place. Later he admits he wants to take our hard earned money and thinks that it's okay to sleep on dirty sheets, which he claims it's fabric softener! We stayed in lofty pines. It was an extreme disappointment! It smelled so bad the evening we arrived so we were going to open the windows and air it out. Only one window in the whole cabin could open, the bathroom window. Each bedroom had a shattered window. The furniture was disgusting and the sheets were so covered in white flakes & nail Polish that we decided it was too gross to stay. We called the office and got no answer. We slept in our sleeping bags. The next morning we got our swimsuits on & went to the private hot tub. The grounds were sprinkled with beer tops & cigarettes. The hot tub was ice cold & filthy. We called the office & the owner brought clean bedding & worked on the hot tub (on our 4th day the tub was finally warm). He said the shattered windows were not a danger & could be opened. I pointed out that they did not have a screen even if they did open. Also the screen doors had huge holes in the screen...no wonder there were flies every where in the cabin. The baking sheet provided was too large to fit in the oven. The dishes has a greasy film on them. The owners wife was very rude & unstable. When we told her about the issues she had no suggestions or willingness to help and was very rude. I told her I was very disappointed and would write a review (this is my first review ever). Stayed whispering pines juniper cabin over the weekend nov. 2015. The cabin was dingy and some parts out dated. The bathroom smelled of mold/mildew and the shower was separating from the wall. When you are done with the shower the mildew smell carries through the rest of the cabin and stinks your fresh towels.. everything in the cabin felt grimey and dirty. Even the dishes were sticky and dusty. We went to dollar general and bought lysol to clean with. The shower drain was so clogged that after about 2 mins in the shower the tub was filled past my ankles with water. They provide you with 5 pieces of wood for the fire place, which is fine but the chimney needs a good cleaning the entire place was smoked out! We could tell it happens often because the ceiling was stained bad. The bed was a king sized with about a 10 inch pad on top of the mattress which made it soooo uncomfortable, you sink down to the middle of the bed and wake up sore. We were locked in the cabin because the deadbolt was stuck. It took about 10mins till i saw a slit along side the lock plate i stuck a knife in and it unlocked. This also looks like it happens often. Cleaning ladies looked methed out and sketchy, not friendly at all. read more
