    Nice bed

We are in the blue spruce cabin. Very nicely decorated. Very clean and comfortable. All the comforts of home. A bit deceived by the location. I anticipated a very secluded area when in fact, we are on road frontage and it is a busy road. However, if they allow dogs and have every amenity you could hope for. I plan to rent a big cabin in the spring for the whole family. Really close to everything. Great to walk to town.

I stayed at the Mac Cabin for 4 nights. Perfect time of the season. Our first night we got snow. Word of advice: buy some tire chains for your vehicle, its worth it. The customer service was great, a lot better than traditional 5 star hotel service. The managers had great attitudes, were very informative, and provided prompt customer service upon request. Perfect for families with small children. We had friendly deer show up at our doorstep each morning and we would feed them corn tortillas......LOL. I will definitely be coming back to Wispering Pine Cabins.

Love the comfort and coziness of The Bears' Way cabin!

The Bears' Way Cabin....hot coffee, cool mountain morning, excellent accommodations and hosts, the LOML...God is good all the time and all the time.....

Outstanding customer service and wonderful cabins. My family will visit again.

Wonderful customer service, great cabins at a fair price. They did not nickel and dime you like other places. Everything in the cabin was part of the price, did not have to pay extra for anything.

    A very substandard bathroom!

We stayed in the Roadrunner Cabin, avoid it! Very substandard bathroom, it looked patched together by a 9th grade shop student. The heater in the cabin was very noisy. In order to sleep,we bought our own space heater. The bathroom had no heater/vent, it was a good thing we bought a space heater. The decor was ok, and the location was good. We saw mule deer each morning. The negatives far outweigh the positives!!

    Would you sleep here?

No, not at all But I had fun lol it's a small casino room, with a high roller room closed off in the back. I didn't stay in a room, so maybe that's why it has a low rating ‍ Either way, I was highly impressed

4 Stars - A High-Desert Blackjack Fever Dream…read more There are casinos, and then there are casinos that feel like a mildly hallucinogenic roadside poem written at 7,500 feet above sea level. This is the latter. The blackjack tables here are loose in that beautiful way that makes a gambler feel briefly chosen by the gods. Chips slide, cards slap the felt, and the dealers and pit bosses carry a refreshing lack of casino stiffness. Nobody's breathing down your neck like a tax auditor of sin. The vibe is relaxed, almost conspiratorial--like the whole room knows we're all here for the same ridiculous dance with probability. Two dealers deserve special mention. Makaila runs a table like a jazz drummer--smooth, quick, unflustered. June, meanwhile, is a delightful menace. She enjoys tricking players into thinking she's pulled a blackjack. She'll pause, squint, grin, and for a brief moment the table collectively experiences a small existential crisis before she reveals the truth. It's performance art disguised as card dealing. The hotel itself sits out in Mescalero, right beside Ruidoso, overlooking the calm waters of Mescalero Lake--a high-desert lake that looks especially poetic when the mountain air hits your lungs like cold champagne. At 7,500 feet elevation, the place has that crisp alpine quiet that makes you feel like you've wandered into some strange mountain monastery... except the monks are holding blackjack chips. Inside, the casino is modern, comfortable, and easy to navigate. Outside? The parking lot is a bit ugly--like a sun-baked asphalt lizard. But it's shaded, which in the high desert counts as a civic virtue. The crowd is mostly reasonable. Sure, every casino has a few characters who appear to have been assembled from spare parts and bad decisions--but overall the patrons were friendly. I even noticed quite a few young women comfortably playing at the tables, which usually means the atmosphere hasn't drifted too far into creep territory. The rooms are spacious and many have great views of the lake, which adds a peaceful counterpoint to the card-table chaos downstairs. And if you're the adventurous type, there's a disc golf course nearby plus plenty of walking trails along the lake. It's a nice way to clear your head after battling the dealer and the laws of mathematics. One practical note: Hydrate like a camel preparing for a desert opera. The air here is dry enough to turn a raisin back into a grape. Would I come back? Absolutely. Between the mountain air, the laid-back blackjack, and the occasional theatrical dealer mind-game, it's a wonderfully strange little high-desert gambling outpost. Four stars. Bring water. Bring luck. And keep an eye on June's face when she peeks at that second card.

I am writing this to express my disappointment and frustration regarding my family's recent stay at…read morethis hotel. We traveled from out of state for a family vacation and specifically chose to stay at this hotel to support a local business rather than a large franchise. One of the reasons we selected this property was because it openly promotes itself as a pet-friendly hotel. We also paid the required pet fee for our dogs, with the understanding that they would be welcomed as long as we followed your policies. which we have. Throughout our stay, we were repeatedly told that complaints were being made about our dogs being noisy in our hotel room. This was very concerning, as we have never had issues with our dogs at any hotel in the past. They are well-behaved, quiet, and sleep in their kennels when we are away from the room. Our dogs were also with us for the majority of the day and were not left unattended for extended periods of time. The only incident that occurred was when a room cleaner knocked on our door, which caused our dog to growl, which is a natural response to an unexpected knock. Our dog did not bark, and the situation was quickly resolved. This isolated moment does not justify repeated complaints or accusations of ongoing noise disturbances. Despite paying a pet fee and following proper procedures, we were made to feel as though our dogs were not actually welcome. We were effectively made to feel that our dogs should not be left alone in the room at all, even while properly kenneled, which is unreasonable for a hotel that actively advertises itself as pet-friendly. What is even more troubling is the unprofessional conduct displayed by the manager, Michael Lopez. He instructed one of his employees to notify someone from our room yet again about these alleged complaints, and that person happened to be my 15-year-old son. Addressing a minor regarding a guest complaint is completely inappropriate and unacceptable. Any communication regarding concerns should have been directed to an adult.Because of the repeated accusations, the inconsistent treatment regarding your pet-friendly policy, and the stress this situation caused our family, we have decided to end our stay early and will be leaving one day ahead of our scheduled departure. This is not how we expected our family vacation to end, and it is extremely disappointing. We made a conscious decision to support a local hotel, expecting better customer service and professionalism. Instead, we were met with repeated accusations and poor judgment from management. I am beyond disappointed and disgusted by how this situation was handled. I hope this complaint is taken seriously and that appropriate steps are taken to address the unprofessional behavior and inconsistent enforcement of policies so future guests are not treated the same way.
