We wanted a real breakfast, not a hotel breakfast. This is a cute little spot in town where you get that accomplished. We were greeted upon entry and told we could wherever we wanted. The food was good. The real eggs in our dishes were enjoyed. The hostess/waitress was honest in saying she wasn't very familiar with gluten free, but I know most breakfast items are already GF so I didn't worry. Hefty portions and extremely reasonable prices If you're looking for a real breakfast in town. Give this place a shot!! read more

What a cute little gem. Two ladies working and they were both really friendly. This place only has maybe half a dozen booths but it's adorable. The girls and I stopped here after camping. Food is fantastic. I had an omelet with sausage gravy and toast with oj and my bill was only about ten bucks. The omelet was huge too. They sell some cute little homemade things such as aprons too. They also have a huge backroom with a buffet that you can rent out for super cheap. Had I known this before, i would have had some parties here. I've been coming here with my grandma since I was just a little girl. Maybe I love this place so much because it feels like how going home after a long day feels. The food is standard diner style food, but something about it just feels like a warm hug from your mom. Does that make sense? There is love and soul in this place. read more

Doesn't look like much from the outside but I've always thought about stopping in to try it. A little nervous at first because we were the only ones in the whole place but it did not disappoint! We had the western omelet with home aid gravy, potato pancakes and meat lovers breakfast. Everything was delicious, don't let looks fool you. Let me start off by saying I love places like this. Old dive diner type places, because usually the food is great and the people are genuine. This place has neither. The service was average at best, and certainly none of the small town charm. I will say we had 3 different breakfast order and all 3 were horrible. Th biscuits and gravy was so bland it might as well have been children's paste. The French toast was over cooked to the point it was a scrambled flat egg. My wife never complains and pretty much eats whatever and she wouldn't touch her bacon. Her eggs were watery and the hash browns raw. Good food, but an odd place to review, for certain. We stopped in here because we mistakenly thought it was some sort of local coffee house, but found an old school diner/cafe that harkened back to both a bygone era and a rural setting more in line with perhaps, Appalachia. It is Clio, though, but it seemed a bit retro even for that town. And here I thought that I was going to be able to grab a latte! Silly me. When we walked in, I paused for a second. I thought I had stepped onto the set of "Justified" and Boyd Crowder was going to be sitting up at the counter drinking his cup of Joe with a plate of grits, only to have Raylan Givens come in to give him a hard time. Seriously, it was that odd. I felt like I had been instantly transported to Appalachia- and I know what small towns in Appalachia look like, I've been there before. There was an old-fashioned counter with stools right in front of the open kitchen. I could watch everything they were doing in there- and I mean, everything. I haven't been in a place like that in awhile. Wow. We were stared at a little bit, but not in a leering or unfriendly way. Maybe we looked "too city." I probably would have fit in better had I been wearing something less urban than my traditional head-to-toe black. Nonetheless, folks seemed fairly friendly. They even some of those old-fashioned, diner-style dessert domes that covered the daily dessert specials! In the back, I spied a sort of gift shop area where handmade goods were sold. That was odd, but interesting. I took a quick peek. It was very country, to say the least. From a few brochures we saw at our booth, it appears they have live music on certain nights, mostly country artists, though. I was slightly surprised by that. The place is small, so where do they perform? There were a couple of older guys drinking coffee and enjoying their breakfast at the counter, but other than that, it was pretty slow when we arrived. We were greeted by a friendly woman, who apparently also helped cook our food. A few other people showed up after we sat down at a nearby booth. The menu actually looked pretty interesting. I was certain everything was going to be homemade and it was! I was down for it. I ordered lunch while my husband opted for breakfast. The food took awhile to come out of the kitchen. We watched as our meals were prepared. You can't do that everyday. I had the Ann Arbor sandwich, which was prepared with the freshest of vegetables on good quality, homemade bread. The homemade fries were awesome. I've never had anything quite like them. Frozen, they were clearly not. Made with love sprang to mind. My husband's oatmeal looked like none I had ever seen before. Clearly, I have seen one too many boxes of instant oatmeal. I tried it and it was good, very different from the Quaker boxed variety. His nutty bread was outstanding. Sign me up- where do I buy a loaf of that? I'd say it was well worth the wait. Our meal was both wholesome and inexpensive. I was surprised to pay so little for lunch. It was well below the $20 mark. I think I'd like to stop in some weekend for brunch and see what that's like. All in all, it was a nice meal. If I'm in that neck of the woods sometime soon, I'll be back. read more

I frequently utilize reviews to decide on where to eat when visiting a different town. Due to this, I felt compelled to leave a review for this restaurant. This establishment boasts a star rating of over a four and I cannot simply fathom this. This restaurant makes me question reviews entirely. The restaurant itself has a very run down appearance and leaves your clothes smelling of grease when you leave. Your waitress also serves as your cook, which is a very weird setup. As far as beverages go, you do not get a fountain beverage or your own container. Your drink either comes from a 2 liter or already opened container (it was very flat). Silverware was wrapped up in a napkin that was held in place by a cut up placemat. It is very evident that this place does everything they can to cut corners. While this can be disappointing to see in a business, it can be overlooked if the food is of good quality or if the service is extraordinary. However, this is not the case. Our party ordered omelettes, sandwiches, and another breakfast option. The omelettes tasted very bland with huge chunks of their ingredients thrown in. The hash browns had huge chunks of potatoes that were not cooked. The English muffin on the sandwich was very hard and was essentially not edible. Our toast was delivered with store bought jelly divided up into smaller containers. After we finished eating some of our food, our waitress brought over our bill. The fact that it was scribbled down on a piece of lined note pad paper kind of put the bow on the whole experience. I cannot stress enough for you to not frequent this establishment. This was by far the worst restaurant experience I have ever had. read more

Making our way up north and found this place on yelp. Decided to check it out and was treated to an amazing breakfast! The blueberry pancakes were huge and fluffy, the garden omelet was loaded with fresh veggies and the bacon was perfectly crisp! The homemade strawberry jelly was definitely the cherry on top! The owner was so nice and made everything herself. Will definitely be stopping here again on future trips! read more

Tried this place out this morning when my husband and I were looking for something new. It's very small and old-fashioned. One woman was working she took our orders, cooked, and served our food along with everyone else's. It got fairly busy while we were there. This modest cafe is located in downtown Clio, a bit off the freeway. After reading a Yelp review I decided to stop for lunch and was not disappointed. Portion size was about right and prices were modest. From what I could tell, everything I had was homemade. I had the New Orleans roast beef sandwich and it was as good as any I have ever had. Made with juicy pot roast, it was a treat to eat. The cafe is run by some very friendly folks who obviously take pride in the food they prepare. It seemed similar to entering a time machine and being transported back in time to before I was born many,many, years ago. It looks like a early 1950's restaurant with a modern day twist. This is the first restaurant I've been to that had a DJ which was playing music from many years gone by and played requests. We went there for Breakfast on a Saturday morning.On the wall by some of the tables were flat screen monitors so people could request the DJ to play a video/screensaver. One person requested a fire video so the DJ found a fireplace video and played early 1960 era music. There is also a gift shop in the place with homemade crafts and Knickknacks. We each had an omelet which was excellently prepared and had coffee. This is the first place we were at that had Hawaiian Omelets on the menu, my wife really enjoyed it. I had a Ranchers Omelet which was quite tasty. There are other items on the menu which I've never seen offered at other restaurants. We are planning to go there again for supper when the DJ is spinning tunes again, he and the owner are very friendly. read more

It's an adorable little restaurant that has options for everyone, even vegetarians like me! It's rare for a place to have more than one option. He'll no, don't go! Ate breakfast there today around noon. Not another diner entered the whole time we were there. Very unappetizing atmosphere. The place appeared dirty. Coffee was weak and lukewarm. Food was not appealing and was mediocre at best. Older lady with no teeth greeted us, cook was obese with a ponytail. I LOVE mom and pop places over eating at a chain but I found no reason to ever return to this one. Reminded me of a redneck greasy spoon in the hills of TN. read more
