Steer clear unless you have been lost in the woods for a week with no food. We all have the 2 egg breakfast, 2 had bacon and 1 ham. I ordered hash browns with bacon and a biscuit. My eggs were cooked just like I wanted and that's about all the good. The bacon was ice cold, biscuit was burnt at the bottom and I was told they had no hash browns but they had tater tots. Tater tots are good but unfortunately the center was still frozen. Kind of reminded me of mess hall food in the Army. Edible but not very good! Visited Chile's Peach Orchard, for apples and wanted to eat in the area. The Whistle Stop was recommended. The food was okay. The bacon was over cooked as was the corn beef hash. The eggs were bland. The server bought out tea bags not in the wrapper. Dropped one on the floor, picked it up offering it to us as if we were going to use it. This place has a lot of potential and is in a great location. The food came out fast but it really wasn't that good. When in Crozet, pop by the Whistle Stop! This is a cozy, country diner with lots of seating indoors and outdoors! There's an old fashioned counter where you can watch the cook at the grill make one of your favorite American meals. I love the railroad theme, the décor is nostalgic with trains and whistles at the tables. They also have lots of Pepsi memorabilia too. You'll think you time traveled when you see the prices on the menu! $3.99 for a BLT or a burger! I got the BLT and the bacon was crispy and plentiful. It was toasted perfectly but I wished they had rye bread. The menu is pretty plain, but sometimes you want some familiar favorites. My friends got the burgers which they said hit the spot. The patties are hand made, not Frozen! Our sandwiches were served on these tiny 6" flimsy paper plates that almost gave way when our server placed them in front of us. We actually cracked up when we saw them! It was comical! We asked for larger plates and she brought us regular melamine plates. I think they didn't want to wash the dishes?! Anyway, we also ordered fries which were served cold. Bummer! The drink menu is extensive. Lots of soda choices including Cheerwine and root beer. We also had iced tea and beers and the server kept our drinks flowing. She was working hard! The restrooms were clean as was the whole restaurant. This isn't a trendy spot that tries too hard. Personally, working in the restaurant industry where I hear complaints about salty fries often, The Whistlestop Grill has offered us the opportunity to season our food to our liking since there is Salt/pepper, hot sauce, and seasoned salt on the table for our convenience. SERVICE: Tiffany and Cassidy were kind, pleasant and attentive. The Team clearly has regulars as I heard them welcome customers by name. Inside this greasy spoon you will find one of the most flavorless menus you can find. Probably the worst BLT I've ever had, including the time I ate one I found laying on the ground at a party in college. For some reason only known to them, the bacon is crumbled on the sandwich rather than left whole. The lettuce was limp and the tomatoes bland. The sandwich was small, so I guess that's what justifies putting it on a thin, tiny paper plate. The iced tea was hardly iced. This must be a perfect spot for people who don't know better. Used to be a good place. Real shame, must be new owners? Waited for 38 minutes for Bfast; home fries were cold, raw, greasy and crunchy, biscuits were raw in the middle. Bacon was cold and greasy and prob 4 hours old. Grits were ice cold and lumpy with a huge slab of unmelted butter. The place was almost empty and there were 5 people working but 3 were just standing around, serving a total of 3 customers. Now I know why there was nobody there. The coffee is so weak you can see through it and the creamers were rancid. Sadly, I don't think they know what rancid means. Never again. See you at The Villa or Weasies in Waynesboro.
