The diner was close to our cabin in Stanley and it was a perfect choice. Very quick and simple before heading to Shenandoah. Highly recommend!!! And they only accept cash :)

If you want to experience authentic, rustic, and FANTASTIC food, you need to try this place. We were here for the first time and it was clearly a local spot, so it is fair to say we were noticed. Not sure how to feel about that, within just a few moments, we knew it was going to be great. The regulars engaged with us and started making recommendations from more than one table. As it turns out, the sausage gravy is in the top two I have ever enjoyed and I am 100% a gravy snob. Ha! The sausage is locally made and simply tastes heavenly. The biscuits are made by someone that knows what they are doing and the eggs have the prettiest deep-yellow yolks, not to mention cooked a perfect over easy. The waitress was a delight and made sure we felt right at home. The regulars are treated like family, including a breakfast birthday stack, complete with a candle and the entire restaurant singing " Happy Birthday" to Bud. He was delighted and even got a few hugs from those close by. Restaurants like this a disappearing from the landscape far too often these days. Do yourself a favor and get here so you can say you have tasted and experienced true hometown America.

What you'd expect from a small town diner. Good food and service was fast. Seat yourself so sometimes if it's busy it can be a bit weird to either wait for a table to be cleaned off or just sit at the dirty table.

We were seated quickly and we noticed our waitress was Slow on getting to the tables for drinks and after about 10 minutes she came by and got our drinks. Upon her getting close and speaking it was very apparent she was very intoxicated and I remarked that it was sad about her condition. As we waited for our food we watched her interactions with other tables and she had problems remembering what table was which. She delivered food to the wrong tables and dropped other food on the floor trying to deliver it. Her fellow waitresses were actually calling her out in the middle of the dining room telling her to get her act together. When she delivered the food the hamburger steak platter was literally a dry hamburger patty that was old and had a thimble of gravy. the mashed potatoes were instant and had been poorly mixed because the powder was still dry in the middle. The glazed carrots were old soggy and brown ( see the picture) . We never got a bill because she just disappeared completely. We went to pay and the cashier was able to look up the order and we spoke to her about the waitress needing some help and her condition and all she would say is " we will try"

Conveniently, there is a coffee shop, bookstore, and flower and gift shop across the street in a really new and cute warehouse to pass the time. We probably could've spent even longer in that cozy bookshop! Our meal consisted of strawberry tahini waffles, green poutine filled with fresh herbs, and a few made in house baked goods from their bakery. We also thoroughly enjoyed our mocktail (they offer a fun variety with fresh juices). The space is light and airy and looks into the bakery. They also have a wrap around diner style counter thats fun. Overall, a fabulous experience from start to finish!

They don't gave thousands of dishes but every dish is thoughtful and each ingredient necessary to pull off the perfect bite. I think the fig pig tartine might be one of the best things I've eaten in a long time. The fig jam on freshly baked sourdough with fresh prosciutto and white cheddar, nutty arugula and the perfect sprinkle of lemon jest completes the dance in your palate. It's a must get. If you want something hearty... the sweet and hot breakfast biscuit will hit the spot. The jalapeño mixed with pear jam on a freshly baked biscuit... and the gooey white cheddar... so so good! Everything is fresh and delicious! A lot of breakfast places serve burnt industrial coffee... but they serve the coffee from Chestnut Ridge which is just across the street in the basement... but it's amazing! Fresh squeezed orange juice is pricey but delicious and the decor is beautiful! Get here before the doors open and wait in line or you'll have to wait a bit. But you can get on the waitlist and go to the stores across the street.

We were told there was a 10-15 minute wait, but if we sat at the empty bar we would have to wait the same amount of time because food was behind. Not sure how that works but okay. They have a nice text system for their waitlist, so we used that. We waited in the back room, which had a few tables, a large stage, a pool table, and a jukebox. It was a fun vibe! Once we sat, we both got the cheeseburger- there's only one choice for a meat burger. It took a while to come out. The burger was pretty average. The server described it as a smash burger even though it didn't say that on the menu. The patties were a little thin, with standard toppings on a sesame seed bun. The fries were thin and nothing special. My friend called it a slightly upgraded McDonald's. Again, nothing bad but nothing special. I wouldn't come back, but there aren't many other options in Sperryville.

Seeing how much looked good and we were tourists, we over-ordered and got to try a little of everything. From the summer menu, we got Biscuit and Gravy, Paradise Parfait, and the Bread Pudding. I enjoyed my biscuit and gravy - pretty solid. Child #1 devoured his parfait (I tried it and I think it may have been my favorite item - they also have a vegan chia seed option - a woman was enjoying hers next to us when we waited in line), and my wife loved the bread pudding, which has a nice maple glaze to it. We also grabbed several of their pastries, including some scones, a muffin, and a buckwheat cake slice. All were great, though the buckwheat pastry was a tad dry. They have a lot of standard offerings of a coffee shop - teas, coffees, lattes, etc. I got a matcha latte and found it to be earthy and not too sweet. The inside is a bit narrow, especially when you consider a long line. The staff are efficient but don't lose their warm hospitality. Broad Porch has an Air BNB "Loft in Luray" located upstairs. I imagine it would be wonderful waking up to the smell of coffee and pastries. I would say if you're visiting Luray, Broad Porch is a MUST VISIT. There's something for everyone. Highly recommended.
