Gulfstream Cafe deserves higher reviews than what is on this site. My husband and I visited on our return from Charleston. The staff was warm and friendly, and even the manager checked on us to make sure that everything was okay. We arrived early, and dined off the Early Bird menu. We both had a salad, warm sourdough bread, tenderloin medallion steak, potatoes, and a small veggie serving. Each meal was around $20, which is a great value in these times. My husband was served a large bowl of ice cream. The weather was perfect and the views are always amazing. Overall, it was a beautiful evening. My only issue is that it's not the easiest place to get to, about 3 miles south of the Garden City pier. We had a wonderful time and we'll return. read more

After 16 years of ending our annual beach vacation with dinner at Gulfstream Cafe, this visit reminded us exactly why we come back, and why we tell all of our friends this is a restaurant to never miss. The setting is second to none. We (grandparents, parents, friends, teens and little one) always enjoy dinner on the upper deck, overlooking the marina as the sun sets over the water. The views are stunning, (Insta-mazing) the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, and it is the perfect way to close out a week at the beach. This year, however, it was the people who made the evening unforgettable. During dinner, we learned that our vehicle was in the process of being towed. Before we even knew what was happening, manager Jason Burch personally came to find us and alert us to the situation. He didn't simply notify us and move on--he stayed with us, helped us navigate the issue, and made sure everything was resolved. He even offered to pay the towing fee himself and help us find another parking space. That level of concern, generosity, and personal accountability is something you rarely encounter anywhere today. Our server, Graydon, was equally outstanding. Attentive without being intrusive, friendly, professional, and genuinely invested in making sure we had a great evening. Even with the unexpected stress of the parking situation, Graydon kept us laughing. Anyone can provide good food and beautiful views. What sets Gulfstream Cafe apart is its people. Jason Burch demonstrated extraordinary leadership and hospitality and delivered outstanding service from start to finish. Together, they turned what could have been a frustrating end to our vacation into a reminder of why we have chosen Gulfstream Cafe year after year for more than a decade and a half. We've been coming to the Gulfstream Cafe for over 30 years. We discovered it when we first began vacationing in Myrtle Beach long ago. We fell in love with it then and still love it today. 3.5 stars. If it wasn't for our amazing server George (I think that was his name) and the food. This review would be 2 stars. We were there for 2 hours. On our reservation it says table of 2 would take max 1 hr-1:15 but we waited 30 mins for our apps and another 1 hour for our actual dinner. This place came by a recommendation of our neighbor at home. We rode the sunset cruise from the marshwalk and needed a late dinner option. It was pretty inside with the lights and decor along the water. We even so the fishing boat next door unloading the catch. We had the hushpuppies and she crab soup to share as an appetizer. The soup was amazing and probably the best we have ever had. I decided to try something new and adventurous for me, cioppino so flavorful just couldn't eat the red pepper flake toast (too spicy) and husband got the grouper fraincaise, the fish was good but he was expecting a different breading. Chose this as a last minute restaurant replacement. Was surprised that I could get a reservation at the last minute. I guess it was because this is the off season (March). It was a great choice. The server, Carson, was very personable and helpful. The food was delicious and not too much. I finished my meal without feeling stuffed however it was definitely a sufficient amount of food. I had the fried seafood platter and my wide had the grouper francoise. Both were delicious. As was the Lavender Lemon Drop. Will definitely come back when we're in the area. read more

After a less than par experience a while back, the manager Jason invited our party back for dinner. Our server, Matthew, was awesome! He was super attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. The appetizers were nicely plated and timely delivered. The dinners were FABULOUS. Hot, fresh and delicious. The fish dishes...grouper Francais and swordfish were so tasty. Go for the food. The view. The service. We timed our dinner with a beautiful sunset. We began our meal with shrimp ceviche, which had an abundance of shrimp and could've been a meal. Definitely shareable. Then, I had the salmon with portobello mushrooms, mashed potatoes, and creamed spinach. Absolutely delicious!! Husband had the blackened Ahi tuna with mashed potatoes and creamed spinach. Also delicious! Prices are reasonable and warm bread is served with meal. Key lime pie was a nice way to end the meal. Service is very good. Server was very nice and the manager even helped us park. The parking situation was overall awful. They booked more people than they can park. The ambiance and feel of this restaurant is okay. It has a nice cabin feel but is very loud on the inside. The bread served at the beginning of the meal is very decent. The crust is hard to chew and each piece could be eaten in two bites, but it was alright. It needs cinnamon butter instead of regular to be better. Make it more like Texas Roadhouse Rolls. At first, I wasn't particularly a fan of this restaurant, until I got my food. I got the steak burger and it was fabulous. 10/10 and was amazing. Absolutely love this restaurant! The view is stunning and the food delicious! Wait staff is on point and friendly! Although a little pricey, the quality of food and professional manner of the staff is worth it! I ordered sheet crab soup that was full of crab meat! Salad was crispy with fresh greens! We made a reservation at Gulf Stream for our anniversary dinner in October 2024. We were seated outdoors which was great because the weather was perfect. We were able to watch the sun setting and see the party boats sailing in the distance: This created such a beautiful ambiance. Although that was great, the light above our table was out so our setting was rather dark after the sun set and there weren't any candles or anything offered to enhance the atmosphere. It took a while for our food to come and we couldn't understand why because the tables around us were not having that issue. When the food came it was just okay. I was expecting it to be piping hot and extremely delicious for the wait time and it just wasn't. It was just okay good. My husband had the shrimp and grits and I had crab cakes. The portions were normal sized but we were not stuffed when we left and didn't leave with leftovers. I would give them another try when visiting the area again but my expectations for them to improve are high. read more

15 years ago, we considered Gulfstream our favorite restaurant in the South Strand. Sadly, they are definitely not what they used to be. The last few times we've been, it has been disappointing. We've also recommended it to guests and they were not impressed. The food is only so-so now. For example, I had the salmon a couple of days ago and it was "fishy". The competition is high so you have to be on your game here. The ambiance is strange now too. This is a nice place, dimly-lit with great views and the music is not what you'd expect. They play classic rock too loudly on a system that sounds awful. It kind of wrecks the vibe. I like classic rock but not here. You'd expect something much more classy and quiet. The service is good and prices are fair but they are no longer on our favorite list. read more

This place was highly recommended and I'm so happy we tried it! We were seated immediately (Wed night in April) in a nice booth overlooking the water. We were greeted quickly and the waitress brought fresh bread and butter. We ordered mixed drinks which were not great, honestly very little flavor and no craft to it. We also ordered the filet and shrimp- cooked amazing and the strip steak which was also flavorful. The tossed salad was a nice touch with almonds, bacon and what tastes like homemade dressing. 7.24.24 Came here for an early 5pm dinner. We had reservations for 14 and the restaurant reserved two separate tables for us. The food was just average with the exception of the thick candied bacon which was to die for and the chocolate cake. I tried a few of my family's entrees including the filet mignon and swordfish and thought they were dry and bland. I ordered the fried oyster and scallops which came with a house salad, 2 hush puppies, and the choice of one side. The scallops were so tiny, I couldn't really taste anything. The hush puppies were below average. I've had hush puppies and these were bland in comparison. My creamed spinach which I selected as my side was the best out of all the items for my entree. My entree was on the early bird dinner menu. Also, my Coke watered down and flat. It tasted bad so I swapped it out for lemonade. Our server was great, but my dinner was mediocre at best. Had the opportunity to spend a great sunset evening overlooking the Inlet with my beautiful wife. (Reservations recommended) We arrived at 6:45 pm and were promptly taken to our table. Give yourself 15 minutes to find parking if you're not successful finding one close by, park at one of the public access beach area areas and call the staff for a pick with their golf cart. Dinner was great, we enjoyed shrimp ceviche for our appetizer. "Sam" our server was a great help in steering us towards the two fresh catch entrées of the day .Broiled mahi, and whole fish red snapper. Ambience's awesome and the Sunset did not disappoint. Have eaten there several times over the last 25 years. The views are very pretty, especially at sunset. While the food has always been pretty good, the parking situation is horrendous. We had reservations and arrived no less than 30 minutes ahead of time to give us time to peruse the marina and just look at our old boat slips before heading to the restaurant. We. Oils not find a parking spot. We looped around the ENTIRE time waiting for spot and while a couple opened up, we were on the other side of the lot and new cars pulled in and took the spot before we could drive over there. It was extremely frustrating. No parking is allowed on the road and near all the condos either. We had ZERO options. And when I say we were there looking for slots for about 30 minutes, that is no exaggeration It got so frustrating, we called to cancel the reservation bc we couldn't even park to enjoy our dinner!! You need help managing the parking lot. When people have reservations, there needs to be a way to reserve parking spots too. Or even have a shuttle service to an off-premise spot. Needless to say, not planning on going there again any time soon. read more

We got what we came for ... the view, and what a view it was ~ spectacular ~ especially as the sun set. Our server was very nice, didn't seem annoyed when we sent our calamari back when we asked for it to be re-fried, the breading was soggy and white when it first came out. Swordfish, right away we both said this isn't fresh, barely ate it, creamed spinach was dripping in butter, parmesan cheese, couldn't taste spinach as all, was so heavily cooked was brown. Green beans were decent. Espresso Martini was really good, Pinot Noir nice, Woodford Manhattan not great per friends. All n all, go get a drink and enjoy the view, or have a salad! I'm going to give them a pass on our Mother's Day meals. Of course they were crazy busy and from the looks of the amount of customers waiting they were also overwhelmed. The hostess Michelle gets our vote for employee of the day. She checked in customers, ran up and down the stairs looking for prior check ins, ran around to find silverware and unused chairs to reconfigure tables, set the tables, seated the hangry people and smiled to check in the next people in line. Our server Jessica was equally amazing. She worked the brunch and had been there since 8am, it's now 6pm. She was pleasant, professional, and checked in on us often. Our table ordered the Strip Steak which was over cooked and tough, the Salmon with mushrooms was delicious, and the Grouper francais was ok. We kept the steak and decided to not complain knowing the kitchen was working very hard to get food out. The iced tea is so good! We often eat at Gulfstream and are always happy with our meal and service. We aren't going to stop eating here because of one tough, overcooked steak. See y'all soon! read more

My She Crab soup was perfectly prepared with chunks of crab and a super delicious fish cream base with real Sherry wine and fresh crusty bread! It was sublime. Incredibly, the real star was my Seafood Cioppino. It was so good with beautiful whole cooked tomatoes ( I wondered want type of tomatoes they were) and lots of seafood. CALL FOR A RESERVATION...the online reservation service did not show all their availability and this place gets packed. This place was fantastic. Beautiful location on the canal, for a front row seat to the sunset. We had a slight issue with seating and the manager was quick to fix it and was very understanding. Our server was very pleasant and knowledgeable. The food was amazing! It took awhile to come out, but was well worth the wait. Everyone was happy, which means a lot in my family. We have 2 teenage daughters and IFYKYK. We all ordered something different. Tuna was perfectly rare (as it should be), salmon was cooked to perfection, steak was a nice cut, and the crab cakes were more crab than filling. Our youngest boys loved the corn dog and fries hahaha. Truly the best food we had on this trip. We all had Grouper Francaise and it was beautifully cooked. The green beans were also perfectly cooked. The server was highly professional and very nice when we spilled water. However, and this does not distract from the overall amazing dinner, but we ordered the hush puppies and the honey butter was weirdly sweet...was it vanilla I detected? Not my favorite.
